Destroy All Destroyers
Perrin There are many names for the creatures contesting this outpost's presence in the Tainted Gorge. Sersine, child of Karas, knows them all, but Gregor devised the ones used most often. One of the most feared are the juggernauts he calls "Destroyers." Their leader Kugai patrols this entire valley, but Gregor has been monitoring an upsurge in destroyer activity to the north of here. Check in with him and determine if this constitutes a threat to our mission. Gregor Those twin-headed terrors are a menace—I'm surprised you got up here unmolested. Perrin's right to worry. The destroyers were a huge factor in the assault on the first expedition. The numbers I'm seeing...it's only a matter of time before they surge again. You want to make a real difference—be one of us? You need to go kill some. That'll send a message to the rest that we're not leaving this ground—not ever. We've paid too much for it. Gregor I'm proud to serve with you, friend. Half those people at the Tower Base have never been out here at all, much less done what you and I have. Our continued occupation of this outpost is a symbol of our defiance of the demonic forces in the gorge! Go tell Perrin what you've done, and he'll say the same. Perrin [Player] is a credit to the Valkyon Federation. Let no one say this brave has not earned the right to stand among us!

The Dark Patrol
Edan Our link to the Tainted Gorge is hampered by a pack of prowling cromoses near the entrance. Chione's the only airship pilot detailed to this section of the island. Until they replace her, we can only communicate via runners. Kill the cromoses, then report to Sersine down in the Tainted Gorge Outpost. Sersine Oh good. I'm glad to hear you cleared that route up for us. Listen, don't underestimate the island. Remember that our troops are pulling out because of unrest in the federation. It isn't because this place is suddenly safer. Stay watchful.

Sersine, She Seeks Shackles
Sersine Careful observation of the gorge reveals the demons that directly control the spirits. What a discovery! According to the scouts, the kariagons hold magical shackles with them. Those shackles need to be examined. Please retrieve the shackles from the kariagons and terron thralls. They mostly appear on the southwest of Tainted Gorge. Sersine Already the roads are safer. Whatever the scions were doing with the enslaved spirits suffers for your success. But more than just this one victory is necessary for our goal. Sersine The shackles are the key. No simple binding should enslave spirits so completely. Kill as many kariagons as is necessary to obtain them.

Painful Disc-overies
Perrin Sersine sets many tasks for her subordinates. Were she not so distinguished a combatant, one might be disinclined to perform them. It is easy to forget her Mysterium ties when she is surrounded by the burning demon corpses. Sersine has asked that all disc reapers become extinct. While not entirely possible, she accepts wholesale killing as a substitute. Perrin It would appear that a mere handful suffices to meet her demands. Was this not mentioned? Profuse apologies are in order, though it would be wise to avoid Verus for a time—he has just lost a considerable amount of money...

One of Our Couriers Is Missing
Adria Even with the resources of the federation behind us, we depend on civilians like Banker Kerson to help with services like mail delivery and transporting supplies. To keep this relationship strong, we often "lend" people out for special favors. He's got a small problem with one of our couriers...can you see what he needs, and possibly give him a hand? Kerson Attend! I have a problem. Chione's a pilot who flies one of those airships around the island. At least...she did before she crashed it heading to the Tainted Gorge. She's still out there dealing with her mistake, but I've got mail stacking up, and Ramun won't carry it in his pack. Chione's route goes east from here, then curves to the south. Find out what the holdup is—my reputation's at risk! Chione Do not judge Chione by the results of one miscalculation—instead, join her in addressing a serious problem. The airship was perfectly balanced, the supplies were securely fastened. No one could have forseen stowaways—or that they'd cause a crash. Now all that can be done is to guard the cargo until a repair ship arrives.

Desperately Seeking Sorcha & Sorcha's Reckless Challenge
Jorhon Sorcha is a junior researcher full of crazy ideas! After listening to Eria talk about some ridiculous prophecy, she went off alone determined to tap into the power of the Tainted Gorge. It's been some time since she checked in, and I'm worried. Can I count on your assistance in bringing her back in safely? Well, you and a few more friends... Gurney Sorcha brought a mobile teleport stone with her, so Hermaiorni can do a clever bit of triangulation and teleport you there. But hurry—who knows what trouble she's in? Talk to Teleport Master Hermaiorni, and she'll send you onward. And do not forget to gear up for unexpected battles. Tainted Gorge Teleportal Master Hermaiorni Sorcha...always in such a rush. Eria and I told her the time was not right to act on the prophecy, but there was no stopping her. If you and your team are ready, I can definitely get you out to her last known position.
Tainted Gorge Teleportal Master Hermaiorni Sorcha took a few animated dolls for protection on her journey into the Tainted Gorge, but she needs real soldiers. Could you and a few friends go after her and keep her safe? Form up with a lancer or warrior to tank, a mystic or priest to heal, and a damage dealer or two. That kind of balance ensures you can tackle any challenge that comes your way. The teleportal's all set to take you to Sorcha's location. Good luck. Sorcha That was scary! And...um...I'm sorry. Thank you for protecting me. I shouldn't have come here without soldiers to guard me. I'll catch up after I get a few last readings. You can use the teleportal to return to the Tower Base. Tell Adjutant Jorhon I'm okay...thanks to you. Jorhon Fine work in the gorge, . Thanks for helping her out. As you saw, no matter how strong we are as soldiers, we always fight better in formation. Keep that in mind as you advance in the federation. Some challenges are meant to be tackled en masse.

Bequest of the Dead <Repeatable>
Fili Sersine looks out at the Tainted Gorge and sees a land to be tamed or pacified. But all I can see are the faces of friends killed by demons. What's worse, the ground here itself has "claimed" their bodies—turning them slowly into stone and absorbing them. I'm asking everyone who goes out on patrol to collect the Expedition Amulets from those still recognizable. If you can get past the swarms out there, you should be able to get something for their families to bury. Fili Well done, [Player]. I know the families will appreciate having these. It's too bad there's not more like you around—we could take the fight straight to their leaders and end this siege! Fili Every day we fend off waves of demons, spirits, and whatever those cloaked freaks with the weird heads are. It takes all of our skill just to hold this camp, and it's why we're so glad to see new recruits like you. Please, if you have the chance, help us send something back home for the families of the fallen. It could have been us lying out there—and someday soon, it may well be!

The Last One
Chione The missing crate contains relic stones. Eria, child of Elinu, claims the stones are specially attuned to this island's guardians and will allow the soldiers of the Tainted Gorge more freedom of movement. They must be what the orcan guardians were seeking on the airship, but why? Recovering these objects is of great importance. Do not hesitate to use deadly force on the orcans—they have much to answer for. Chione Such unassuming objects to have caused so much difficulty. I am in your debt. Chione Every hour that passes increases the risk that orcan guardians will damage the relic stones and endanger those who serve in the Tainted Gorge. Please do not tarry in their recovery.

Gotta Kill 'Em All
Ayrdoss Orcans in the camp below are continuously reinforcing from somewhere. It is only a matter of time before they build to a strength capable of seriously threatening the federation presence on the island. The proper military response is to remove them by force—but the scouts here are all those assigned to the problem. An excellent start would be to thin the ranks of Orcan Raiders patrolling the edge of their encampment. Ayrdoss Watching orcans run and hide is quite enjoyable. Come back and kill with us any time.

Chione's Missing Cargo &  Chione's Report
Chione All around you is the result of an unavoidable situation. Orcans attempting to steal supplies caused the airship's crash, and even now trade our crates among themselves. It is imperative that those crates are recovered. If you would help, collect at least four and bring them here. Chione There was hope that one particular crate would be among those you found—one containing artifacts requested by Sersine. Your efforts are appreciated, of course. Chione The Tainted Gorge waits for these supplies. Somewhat impatiently, truth be told. Feel no pressure. All anger is directed at Chione, however unjustified.
Chione I'll take a rest. Please go first and tell Edan that I am fine. Edan Such a relief! Our relic stones were depleted. How fortunate that we have more. Hail, [Player].

Twice the Bark, Twice the Bite
Jehan The Cromos is a fascinating creature. A guardian spirit patterned after a real animal that adapts scavenged equipment into workable armor. They also eat just about anything, including gauges meant for other creatures. Data recovered from those would be a fascinating project. Your next task is to get some. Jehan As expected. These gauges record a fascinating energy...one similar to something...it is not right to speculate. Leander, child of Karas, or Eria, child of Elinu, are the senior researchers. They should know. Jehan Does the double howl of the Cromos frighten? Pay it no heed—stay focused on the task at hand. Elleon never shied from danger, though there are those who claim this was his undoing. Were the retrieval of power gauges his task, no doubt it would be finished already. Perhaps another round of gathering might be in order.

They'll Eat Anything
Kamarnu Jehan salted the pasture to the south of here with food containing tiny detection devices, and as planned, the shaggy noruks either destroyed or ate them. Normally I'm opposed to harming such noble guardians, but Jehan asks that his power gauges be collected and returned. Could you get them for us? I'd do it myself, but I've hurt my ankle, and my...escort refuses to assist me. Jehan Kamarnu has chosen his agents well. These gauges are vital to understanding what power affects this island's guardians. Having demonstrated skill in acquiring items for researchers, you will find no shortage of work here in this camp. Perhaps it is best that you stay nearby. There are other tasks needing attention. Jehan Kamarnu has his orders, but somehow quails from executing them. Power gauges are viable for only a short time, and each shaggy noruk allowed to roam free without examination is another opportunity missed.

Special Delivery
Fili Could you do me a favor? We need to install a magic shield around our outpost but we're running short on relic stones. Go to Teleport Master Hermaiorni at the Tower Base and tell her that I sent you. She'll give you relic stones. This is urgent, so please use the Safe Haven Teleport Scroll for faster travel. You can use Hermaiorni's teleport service to return. Hurry. Tainted Gorge Teleportal Master Hermaiomi Fili sent you? She fully comprehends the process for requisitions, yet persists in cutting corners. Our exchange, which should have transpired simply, now requires the intervention of another. Nevertheless, I can fulfill her needs and also demonstrate for you how teleportation works. For the traveler, it's simple. Once you've visited a place, teleport masters like me can send you directly there. Fili You came! Thank you! Remember that using a teleport scroll or teleport master is really convenient way of moving.

It Was a Rock...Crawler
Lorin These rockcrawlers are eating the relics around here. Every time one of them pulverizes an outcropping, Eria lets out a piercing scream. For the sake of all our ears, can you go out and retrieve some relic fragments from them before it's too late? Lorin This should be enough for now. I saw Eria peeking around a pillar at you while you were fighting...I think she's a fan of your work. Lorin I'm going to need more than just promises to pacify that woman. I think Leander's got those long ears completely stuffed with fabric to block out Eria's screams. Please, [Player], I'm begging you. Help a poor soldier out and bring me back something I can use.

Investigating the Relics <Repeatable>
Eria Legends say that Arun and Shara never had a child together. But before they slept, they placed parts of themselves into a hidden creche, from which a child might someday arise. I believe that this island is that child. As a researcher, I need facts to back up my belief. If you can help me collect inscribed fragments from the area around this outpost, I might even convince traditionalists like Leander and Jehan! Eria An excellent start! Each relic fragment you recover brings me that much closer to presenting my theories to a wider audience. And I'm not alone in this—there are many who believe in the prophecy, or something similar, and are observing events here on the island very closely. If you have time to gather more, let me know! Eria Leander thinks this research is not worth pursuing—that there is a rational explanation for the island's appearance. Jehan's gauges tell him that there's a strange energy affecting everything around us, but he refuses to speculate as to its source. Analyzing the inscribed fragments around here will help me convince both of them that the prophecy is real!
