If you don't know, take your best guess
Immediate family is your parents and siblings, and that's it. No grandparents, cousins, aunts, nephews, etc. No in-laws, either. I'm also not counting the immediate family you may have made as an adult (children and spouses).
Adoptive and step family count.
I want to see how common it is to have multiple queer people in the same family.

That person saying the qpp label is just a way to feel special is hilarious because like. That's literally what relationship labels are meant to communicate. That the person/relationship in question is special to the speaker in some way. Like "A girlfriend is just a romantic/sexual partner. You're only calling that person your girlfriend so the relationship feels special." Yep! You sure got me there!
You're only calling your best friend your "husband" because you fuck him and you file joint taxes. Stop trying to make it sound cutesy

guys I am actually deadly serious when I say we need to let people— especially my generation and younger— take a break from activism/social justice etc sometimes because the burn out is going to cause a lot of fucking damage. Like if we’re expecting this generation of teenagers to constantly be thinking about current issues after having already grown up in one of the most volatile and hopeless period of history then they’re gonna straight up stop fighting. People are going to give up. My mum rhetorically asked me “if there’s a nuclear war tomorrow are you just going to lay down and die” and my first instinct was “yeah, that actually sounds preferable by this point” and I realised oh fuck okay this isn’t good. It wasn’t ironic or a goddamn dark humour joke, it was a genuine plea from my mind and body that I’m fucking exhausted and so absolutely hopeless about the future that literally dying doesn’t scare me anymore. And we’re putting this onto kids. Young teenagers are online 24/7 thinking that they need to constantly fight for causes or else they’ll be told they’re bad people and that’s not going to fucking help. Dear God are we trying to run empathy into the ground? Are we forcing people to scream “I don’t fucking care anymore” because everyone is so tired of fighting??
Here’s a reminder that it’s not a moral failing to prioritise your mental health sometimes, not because of some fragility bullshit, but because people are actually just going to give up fighting. We’ve created a culture that expects people to fight for multiple causes 24/7 and that just isn’t sustainable. People are going to stop. People are going to get exhausted and hopeless and depressed and their empathy is going to burn out completely until there’s nothing left.
Fight for your causes, but you are allowed to take breaks, prioritise yourself and stop thinking about them for a little bit, because no cause is going to thank you if you show up without a shred of empathy left in you for what you’re even fighting for. If the exhaustion is fucking killing you, stop.
And this isn’t even directed at the people who aren’t a part of the cause/community etc they’re fighting for, in case I sound like I’m only pandering towards the people who actually have a choice whether or not to stop. I spend a lot of time fighting for trans right, for my rights, but I can’t always keep up the momentum. I’ve been pushed back so much that sometimes I do have to just give up in order to recuperate. I need to take a break from fighting for my own rights because the constant setbacks are driving me into a deep depression that I know will eventually stop me from fighting entirely. If you can take a break and shut off your brain for a bit when you’re feeling yourself burn out, do it. It’s not a moral failing, and don’t let people tell you it is. If you genuinely believe you’re going to win your fight by losing your goddamn empathy in the process, then congrats, you’ve achieved nothing.
Mental health isn’t just important for the individual person. It’s necessary for the entire fight, the entire cause, because an army of soldiers who are ready and waiting for the world to implode and take them with it is not an army that can fight anymore.

advice i think we should tell children is that when adults say stuff like ‘now that i’m an adult i get really excited about stuff like coffee tables and bathrooms and rugs etc’ they don’t mean ‘and now i don’t care about blorbo and squimbus from my childhood tv shows anymore’ bc your average adult still loves all the same pop culture stuff they always did; they just have a greater appreciation for the mundane as well. growing up just means you can enjoy life twice as much now. you can get really excited about a new stuffed animal AND about a new kitchen sponge. peace and love

🕊️ every year in my lifetime, I've seen an ugly blue british flag printed on single use cups and ugly tshirts on January 26th, celebrating stolen land, stolen language and stolen children. this year in particular, I feel the need to make my politics clear through art, as the horrors of colonialism and genocide are mirrored internationally in Palestine. I want to be clear, you do not get to enjoy my art without knowing clearly what my politics are, and you do not get to ignore my politics as an inherent part of my art. no one is free until everyone is free 🖤💛❤️🇵🇸
