“It’s kind of what teenagers do, what can I say?” She managed a small laugh. Gabby’s face lit up completely. “Really?! Could I meet him?! I’d love to meet him! I… Oh, you know me. I don’t really do relationships anymore. Don’t worry your pretty little head.”

Teddy was shocked for a moment that Ari actually quipped right back at him, and then the moment was over and he threw his head back, letting out a delighted laugh, before crossing his finger’s and holding them up. His laughter had for the most part dissipated, but another chuckle rumbled from the back of his throat at Ari’s awkward rambling, something Teddy was more used to but still fond of, “Well don’t say that, my mind will wander to deep dark places,” he teased, grinning mischievously at the other boy. Teddy rolled his eyes at Ari, but he was always overjoyed to hear that said boy thought so highly of him. He let go of Ari’s hand to lay out the blanket on the spot he’d found, speaking as he moved, “You make it sound like you’re a charity case. Believe it or not, I think you’re quite cool too, and I waited longingly by phone waiting to hear from you. I really like being around you,” he said earnestly, sitting on the now strewn out blanket and patting the spot beside him to tell Ari to sit. “Nope never seen it, I’ve heard good things, though. I wanted to do it really badly when I was doing high school plays but a school in the same district was already doing it,” he said, putting on a dramatic pout, “do you like it?”

ari blushed, hyping himself up internally enough to shoot back, “well, fingers crossed i can get through to him, then.” he couldn’t help but laugh, well aware the teddy was joking although his cheeks reddened all the same. “no!—not that i’m opposed or anything, but i just meant, y’know… literally, we could lie together and watch netflix… and whatever else you wanna do, i’m up for anything with you,” he rambled. ari squeezed gently when teddy’s hand slipped into his, even more comfortable this time than on their first date. holding hands was really one of his favorite things, even though he hardly ever had enough courage to initiate it himself. “oh, c’mon… you give me way too much credit,” he said, finding himself unable to meet teddy’s eyes this time around as they made their way down to the lawn, where a decent but not overwhelming crowd had already gathered for the show. “i mean, it’s all that i can hope that i can be good to other people. you especially. you’re so cool but you’re still nice enough to wanna spend your time with me, i figure i owe you.” he found an empty spot not too far from where the stage was and started walking over with teddy in tow. “they’re doing little shop of horrors! have you seen it before?”

“I mean, I know I should be all ‘oh no’ but I’m just kinda proud. Special friends?” He scratched at the back of his neck, an automatic smile appearing on his face, “Kind of? I’m seeing this guy right now, his name’s Ariadne and... well, yeah, he’s definitely special. What about you? I don’t have to kick anyone’s ass do I?”

“Alcohol, hm? Well, I’d hate to break it to you but I may or may not have somewhat of a tolerance already. Oh! I know what I’ve been meaning to ask you…” An excited smile went over her face. “Are there any special friends in your life that I should know about…?”

“I’m fine, I guess I… I don’t…” Gabby sighed, before letting out a laugh. “I came here to get away from mom and dad, and to see you and… All’s I’m doing is spending time with me.
