Does Your Audi Idle Rough but Run Smooth? Here is What Could it Mean
Tumblr media
Some issues in vehicles make it behave very strangely such that even the car owners would not be able to know what the reason behind it is. Such symptoms shown by the vehicles make the car owners very much confused and worried. In this article, I’m gonna tell you about such a strange symptom that even luxury cars like Audi show, it is the car having rough idle but runs smooth. Such behavior of car itself indicates some issue that needs to be addressed soon. If you have an Audi, then this article is for you. You will have a detail understanding about the problem.
What causes the car to roughly idle but run smoothly?
Rough idle means the shaking of car while idling. Basically, this unusual sign is the result of some problems in the ignition system, fuel injection system etc.
Rough idle is always annoying. Every car owners want their car to always work smoothly. Rough idle with smooth running is one of the rare issue but has become more common in many cars. Even Audi cars are showing such symptom. So you have to be careful to detect any signs as soon as possible and get the car repaired. But before that you must know what causes the car to rough idle but run smoothly.
Vacuum leak
It is one of the common causes. Vacuum leak is caused at the air intake system where extra air escapes into the system through some hole or cracks. This extra amount of air is unnoticed by the mass air flow sensor. The mass air flow sensor checks the amount of air entering into the car to make some adjustment in the fuel amount. Vacuum leak causes more amount of air which the engine control module do not know, so it doesn’t make any change in the fuel amount. So due to high amount of air, the engine would run lean especially when the engine is running with idling speed. So while idling or in a very low speed, the car would be rough.
Clogged fuel injectors
The fuel injectors receive the fuel from fuel tank and injects it with pressure into the cylinders. These components have a very small hole through which fuel is injected into the cylinders, but these holes have a high chance to get clogged as the dirt particles would easily get into it to block the opening. Clogged fuel injectors lead to leakage of fuel, slowdown of the fuel flow. This would make the fuel amount low in the combustion chamber.
Defective EGR valve
EGR stands for exhaust gas re-circulation. The EGR valve allows the exhaust gas to recirculate through the combustion process by directing it to the intake manifold. This recirculation process is done so that any unburned fuel in the exhaust gas would be burned and the fuel would be fully utilized. EGR valve makes the car more fuel efficient. But sometimes due to some defects, the EGR malfunctions due to which the engine control unit gets confused and sends some wrong signals to the fuel injection system and the ignition system. This leads to shaking while idling, but the car would run smooth in higher RPM.
Faulty oxygen sensor
The O2 sensor detects if the exhaust gasses from the engine have a very high level of O2 or low level of O2 or in a correct level. By this information, the engine control unit would able to know if the combustion process is going good or not and then adjusts the air and fuel amount in the cylinder. If the O2 sensor is faulty, then it would not be able to provide correct information about the amount of O2 in the exhaust which would ultimately lead to wrong ratio of the air and fuel due to which the car would shake while idle especially.
Bad Spark plugs and its wires
The spark plugs make firing in the cylinders to burn the fuel as a result it may become worn or burned with time or gets a layer of carbon deposits on it which prevents it from firing properly. Even If the wiring is damaged then also problems would occur.
What to do?
You can use some additives in the fuel. This clears the dirt accumulated in the fuel injectors. Check the spark plug wires and the spark plugs. Clean the spark plugs if they are dirty and replace them if they are damaged. Damaged wires are also to be replaced. If the EGR valve is damaged, then you have to replace it. Also check the air filter, replace it if it is highly dirty.
Conclusion
It is recommended to do all the replacements at car garages if you don’t have the skills and tools. Better if you take it to an Audi service centers.

Signs It's Time To Replace Your Porsche Voltage Regulator in Scottsdale
Tumblr media
Among the several important components of the Porsche, the voltage regulator is defined as a vital electronic component that is responsible for regulating the voltage to the instrument cluster, gauges and speedometer. On the other hand, it can maintain the flow of electrical power to several electrical systems such as the stereo system, headlights and many more.
In this way, the instrument cluster of the Porsche is giving the driver a visual indicator of the functions of the engine and its speed. When the voltage regulator of the Porsche is failed, it will affect the viability of your car and cause other problems such as dimming of the headlights, dead battery, and affect engine functions.
At this point, you have to perform an in-depth inspection of the voltage regulator, otherwise, it can leave you stranded on the side of the road. The following points define the signs of failed voltage regulators in your Porsche.
Dead battery
When the voltage regulator of the car is failed, you will notice that the battery is losing its charging ability or stops altogether. For starting the vehicle, the battery needs to be charged properly by a well-functional alternator when the engine is running. If the voltage regulator is failed, it will cause the battery to lose its power rapidly.
Due to the bad battery, you will find that your car is unable to start. At this point, you have to bring it to a reputed mechanic for diagnosing the failed voltage regulator even if the battery is recharged. To bring your car to a professional mechanic with a dead battery, jump-start it.
Reduce the engine performance
Due to budget issues, many vehicle owners are choosing aftermarket voltage regulators instead of factory-built system products. If the voltage regulator has any problem, then you will experience many problems in your Porsche while driving on the road such as engine sputtering, engine stalling and poor acceleration.
In this case, you can find that the failed voltage regulator is unable to handle the power put out of the alternator. When it happens, the voltage regulator is burning out very quickly due to overstress. So, bring it to a certified Porsche mechanic for replacing the after-market voltage regulator parts for running it smoothly.
Activated battery light
If the voltage regulator is failed, then it can either overcharge or undercharge the battery. When it happens, the sensors of the car are sending information to the ECU about the condition of the battery. As a result, the check engine light or battery light is activated on the dashboard to alert the driver about the problem.
When the lights pop on, you have to stop driving the car immediately because it may cause serious engine breakdowns or overcharge and explode the battery. On the other hand, the failed voltage regulator is diminishing the alternator’s ability to circulate the battery power. So, bring your car to an auto repair shop for diagnosing and replacing the bad voltage regulator.
Erratic readings
Thus, the most common signs of failed voltage regulator in your car are erratic or inaccurate readings of the regulator. When the voltage regulator is failed, it can force the gauge to display inaccurate or erratic readings.
In this case, it will rapidly charge or cut off the functions of the regulator erratically. Subsequently, it can cause difficulties to read the instrument cluster and need immediate replacement of the failed voltage regulator to start and run the engine efficiently.
Damaged instrument cluster
A small problem within the voltage regulator can disable the power to the instrument cluster and affect its functions. Sometimes, it will fail the instrument cluster entirely and make the car may start up and drive without any information. Moreover, driving a car in this condition is always unsafe and causes major damage on the road.
Conclusion
In reality, voltage regulators are playing an important role in your vehicle for its smooth functioning. So, when it is failed in your car, try to diagnose the problem immediately for preventing engine problems and other electrical issues.
If you found that the voltage regulator in your Porsche failed while driving on the streets of Scottsdale, then bring it to a professional technician for diagnosing the causes behind the failed voltage regulator and replace it if needed.

How to Know If Your BMW X3 Valve Cover Gasket Is Leaking?
Tumblr media
Is your BMW X3 engine leaking motor oil from the top portion? Because, if that is the case, odds are good that its valve cover gasket has gone bad. A valve cover gasket is nothing but a seal that essentially protects sensitive valve train components from premature wear and tear.
If the valve cover gasket is damaged, you will encounter an array of valve train related problems. And, if you fail to diagnose and fix the issue on time, the performance of your car engine will suffer.
In this post, we will go through the causes and signs of BMW X3 valve cover gasket failure and what you can do to fix it. However, before that, let’s discuss what is it, what are its functions, and what would happen if your BMW X3 valve cover gasket goes out. So, let’s dig in….
What is a valve cover gasket and what are its functions?
A valve cover gasket, as is evident from the name as well, is something that is tasked with the job of sealing the gap between the top portion of the engine cylinder head and valve cover.
By sealing that gap, the valve cover gasket essentially prohibits engine oil from escaping the engine cylinder head. Besides, it also makes sure that dirt, debris, and other foreign contaminants are not causing any harm to the sensitive valve train components.
It is made from high-quality rubber and is supposed to last for a very long time. However, it may go out prematurely due to continual exposure to the extreme engine temperature. And, a cracked valve cover gasket would make it possible for the engine oil to escape the cylinder head.
An engine oil leak due to a defective valve cover gasket is a serious problem and leaving this problem unattended can give rise to a series of engine-related problems.
Signs your BMW X3 valve cover gasket is leaking
Drop in oil pressure
If your “low oil pressure” warning light is on, this could be the sign of a leaky valve cover gasket or some other sort of engine problem that you will want to get inspected immediately.
Optimal oil pressure essentially ensures that all the moving parts of the engine are properly lubricated. Normal oil pressure for a smooth engine operation is within the range of 25 to 65 PSI. A drop in oil pressure due to a leaky gasket or seal can cause engine overheating and a series of other engine-related problems.
Engine performance issues
Are you experiencing engine performance issues like sluggish acceleration, stalling or frequently misfiring? Because, if you are, there is a good chance that your valve cover gasket is damaged and needs to be replaced right away.
As you would have read earlier, the valve cover gasket is responsible for prohibiting the engine oil from leaking out. Besides, it is also tasked with the job of protecting cylinder head hardware from different types of contaminants like dust, debris, and other types of particulate material.
Motor oil loss due to a leaky valve cover gasket would adversely affect your car’s engine performance.
Engine oil leak
If you are noticing oil coming from the top portion of your car engine, it is often a sign that you have a leaky valve cover gasket. Oftentimes, you will need a professional technician to diagnose the exact problem. So, take your BMW to a nearby auto service center right away to diagnose and fix the exact problem.
Check engine light
Another sign that your BMW valve cover gasket might be leaking is the illumination of the check engine light on the dash. The reason for this is that oil loss due to a leaky valve cover gasket would make your car engine run rough. When the onboard diagnostic system of your car detects the problem, it would immediately turn on the check engine light.
Final thoughts
The head gasket is nothing but a kind of sealant that essentially seals the gap between the valve cover and the top portion of the cylinder head. It can wear off due to continual exposure to extreme engine temperature. And, when it goes out, the performance of the engine will suffer. Therefore, if you're noticing signs of valve cover gasket failure in your BMW X3, get it replaced right away before it leads to bigger problems.

5 Signs Your Volvo S60 Clutch is Failing from Certified Mechanics in Scottsdale
Tumblr media
Among the various luxury cars that normally people prefer, there are quite a few brands that give tough competition to the German-manufactured trinity of BMW, Audi, and Mercedes-Benz. One such luxury car brand is Volvo.
Volvo is an iconic luxury car manufacturer that is well known throughout the world due to its performance and advanced features. There are various models that are manufactured by Volvo and one of the popular ones is the Volvo S60.
The popularity of the Volvo S60 can be gauged from the number of these cars that one gets to see on the roads of Scottsdale. The Volvo S60 is a mid-sized sedan that comes equipped with many advanced features that make driving it a real pleasure.
However, the Volvo S60 has also got its fair share of issues and if you are driving an older model that is having a manual transmission, then you are in for some trouble. The clutch of the Volvo S60 malfunctions after some time. The clutch is one of the most important parts of the manual transmission car.
Here in this article, we will discuss the signs associated with a failing clutch in your Volvo S60.
Abnormal noise from the clutch
The clutch is the system that engages the transmission for the smooth changing of the gears in your car. There will be seldom any chance when you are going to hear any noise coming from your clutch when you press it for changing the gears.
However, if you get to hear any kind of unusual noise while pressing your clutch, then there are issues in your clutch system. If you press the clutch and get to hear noise when releasing it, then there is a problem with the clutch release mechanism or the problem lies with the clutch fork.
The clutch fork is a hydraulic component in your car that helps in engaging and disengaging the clutch in your car. Most of the time these abnormal noises are heard because of friction created due to the lack of lubrication in the clutch.
Loose or spongy clutch pedal
The clutch pedal in your car must always be hard to press. However, while pressing the pedal if you feel that the clutch feels spongy or loose, then there is a problem somewhere in the system. This signifies that some parts or a component in the clutch system might have malfunctioned.
Most of the time, the problem lies with the clutch release bearing or the clutch fork has been damaged. In some instances, the pressure-plate diaphragm spring in your clutch system also malfunctions which leads to a spongy clutch.
Vibrating clutch pedal
A perfectly functioning clutch in your Volvo S60 will never vibrate when you are driving your car. However, if you experience that the clutch pedal is vibrating and then it means the clutch disc is losing its grip on the flywheel sporadically.
Most of the time this problem is caused due to the warped pressure plate or flywheel in the system. In addition to this, burning of the clutch disc lining or contamination of the oil can also lead to vibration of the clutch and this need to be addressed immediately.
Pulsating clutch pedal
There are various parts and components inside your transmission system that rotates when the car runs. You might feel your clutch pulsating when these parts wobble or vibrate inside your transmission system. This is caused because a release lever in your car might require an adjustment or at worse the flywheels are warped.
Nevertheless, sometimes the pulsation of the clutch in your car is felt immediately after your car has undergone maintenance and service. This is because the transmission housing might be improperly aligned with the engine of your car. The best thing is to diagnose your car for detecting the exact faulty system.
Stuck clutch pedal
Whenever there is a problem with the clutch in your car, then you are going to experience a stuck clutch pedal in your car. Whenever you will press the clutch, the clutch pedal is going to stay stuck on the floor of your car. This is caused because the springs in the linkages are over-stretched.
Finally
The above-discussed factors are some of the signs that are associated with the failing of the clutch in your Volvo S60. Most of the time people tend to neglect the initial signs shown by the car due to the clutch failure. However, if you observe any of these signs, then take your Volvo S60 to a certified repair shop to fix the clutch.
