Hello readers! The mods have some important announcements and updates for you all regarding this project and its future. Please continue reading below the break for full information.
First, we would like to announce that we are revamping our interest check, title, and social medias. As you might have seen, we have made the decision to move for a physical zine if enough interest is shown, and some other changes have been considered as a result, meaning we need a new interest check to gauge the proper results in areas such as price and fic length. We have opted to change our title due to the same one being previously used for the personal zine project of a friend of the mod team, which you can read in full about here. The title will be a part of the new interest check.
Second, the mod team has come together and decided to push the zine until next year. We have multiple reasons for this. First, we hope that by then, the pandemic will not make shipping such an uncertainty. We don’t want anyone being unable to receive their zine due to a pandemic-related issue. We also feel that there is currently an oversaturation of the zine market, and wish to step back for a time to allow things to settle. Most importantly, our shipping and production mod is scheduled to leave for a semester abroad in February. By our current schedule, it is possible to have the zine finished, printed, and sent by then, but there is hardly any margin for extensions and should shipping be delayed somehow, there could be potential problems we would much rather avoid. We want to ensure our potential contributors will have the time necessary to complete their work without extreme hassle or rush, and we want to be able to handle any issues that might come up with as much ease as possible. There are simply more pros than cons to push the zine at this point, and the entire team feels it is the best decision for the anthology moving forward. This is not due to any incompetence or panic on our part; there are situations we simply cannot control as easily as we can change things for the anthology.
So what’s next? The mod team will be revamping the schedule and social medias over the coming weeks. Our general plan is to have applications and creation running sometime around next spring and summer, and shipping in the summer/fall, but we will be closely analyzing everything as we go and be sure the schedule will work for all of us before we make any final decisions and post the new schedule. In the time between now and when the new interest check opens, we will all be working on various aspects of the anthology — concepts for our cover, new graphics, and making decisions regarding the application process, to name a few. Just because we are delaying the anthology does not mean we’re stopping our work on it, not in the slightest. There is plenty we can do to make this anthology the best it can be, and we want to ensure that we do everything in our power to bring TodoDeku fans a wonderful collection to have and hold.
Thank you for sticking with us through these uncertain times and showing your support! Our social medias may be quiet for a time after this post, but our CuriousCat, email, and Tumblr inbox will continue to be open and checked regularly if you should have any questions. We appreciate all of you!
