i'm so sick of the discourse on twitter about whether wanting/seeing romance and shipping characters in media is somehow inherently wrong or bad or like it rots your brain or like you're incapable of critical thinking.
this all happened bc people have been shipping syd/carmy from the bear (which is a ship i love!) and a bunch of people have been getting really uppity bc they see the bear as like. ~prestige television~ which of course means it doesn't have time for silly things like LOVE and ROMANCE. and the whole thing has opened a can of worms with multiple outlets now running articles about shipping and romance in media and people going on long tweet threads about it.
like honestly it's just once again the same tired old argument that i see all the time. if you like romance, you're stupid. if you like romance, you can't also see, understand, or appreciate other aspects of the story. romance is low brow. you're pathetic for shipping these characters. you just don't GET how clever and complex this story is, you silly stupid girl.
like if you're not into romance that's fine, but you don't need to a) denigrate those of us that do, b) denigrate media that includes romance, and c) bend over backwards to avoid seeing any and all potential romantic tropes in the media you consume. like you just sound like a prententious idiot at this point.

my @ is way too iconic in my own delusional mind for me to change it after the latest events on swiftieland but just know i am side eyeing that woman and laughing at how goofy she’s looking. (and that’s the nicest i can be about her at the moment)

idk there's something very healing about the "i wasn't naive. i was a baby." line in daisy jones. especially because it's said by a character like daisy. i was a very messy teenager who tried so hard to prove that i wasnt naive and that i was wise beyond my years and belonged in these adult spaces that, in hindsight, i definitely was too young for. i was never naive in the first place. i was just a kid.
