“So here is my 2015 GBWC entry, the iconic MS-06S Char Zaku II. This took about 8 months of designing, mistakes, and hard work, and I’m pretty satisfied with it. I am heavily inspired by Kazuhisa Kondo as a sci-fi/mechanical designer, as well as Toriwo Toriyama and Max Watanabe as scale modelers, and this Zaku II is a combined tribute to their artful prowess. My aim was to create a more aggressive and menacing looking Char Zaku, while maintaining the sense of industrial realism that is championed in the “real robot” movement. I really wanted to push the Zaku aesthetic by creating better proportions, highlighting each curve and bulge as if the mobile suit itself is muscular; a brute mechanic which its sole purpose is the destruction of the enemy. I’m a strong believer that robot/cyborg mechanics is in its purest form is an extension of the human presence, and in that sentiment, I hope that I achieved the ferocity and passion of Char Aznable in this piece. And I hope you actually like it haha”

I have a question about what are gunpla modeling competitions. Do you just build the model then enter it, or can you paint them and maybe add LED lights to the gundam model, you know, customize it? I am interested in intering future gunpla competitions.

Wave 1/20 SAFS-R Raccoon

Sorry for the really long delay between posts! I moved both my home and my studio/workshop space and its taken a long time to get settled/get wi-fi/etc. I actually finished this kit all the way back in May but its taken till now to properly show it off!

Handpainted with Tamiya Acrylics thinned with Mr. Color Leveling thinners, and weathered with oil paints. Left the joints stock on this one, kind of regret it, its not very stable; base is a piece of patio tile with some enamel washes applies. Foliage from Woodland Scenics.

COMPLETED 1/20 Grosserhund Ausf K Kyklops

Hasegawa 1/20 Scale kit.

What a fantastic kit! Lots of parts but I never got bored the way I do with building Master Grades. Painted with Gaianotes and weathered with Sennelier Oils- can’t recommend Sennelier oil paints for weathering enough! One that struck me as odd was how thick the Hasegawa decals are, the snake logo took a lot of work to get adhered properly. First time working with static water for the base, wanted to go for a wet mud effect. A very fun design, and another classic from Kow’s universe.
