A super nice get together and dinner at Bear and Umi’s as a last get together before we take @cademacleod3 up to Georgetown this Thursday. He got to pick the menu and Bear prepared it! And Kayla helped pick the dessert menu. The girls each made a poster for Cade which was a really nice gesture letting him know he will be missed. But also with words of encouragement. @dougmacleod4 and I are so proud of all of our kids. Things like this remind me, we must be doing something right! So happy for Cade as he is about to embark on a fabulous new adventure! I spent the day with just him running all over town buying the dorm necessities that I probably should have done a month ago! First day of a new school - Kit and her friend Lauren off to 6th grade in Middle School at Crabapple Middle School and Kayla off to High School for her freshman year at Roswell High School. And I had a total mom fail and forgot to snap a picture of Claire who had to be at Mountain Park Elementary School early because she was asked to be an Ambassador for the first 2 weeks of school! (Took one after school) And sweet Cade got up to say good luck to all the girls and missed seeing Claire 😢 (went back to bed and missed the other two as well! Once, there was a happy little pigeon who lived at the edge of a forest. He spent his days in happiness and was generally satisfied with life. Then, one day he saw a beautiful swan. “That swan is so white,” he noticed, “and I am more of a dull grey. That swan must be the happiest bird in the world.” He confessed his thoughts to the swan. “Actually,” the swan replied, “I used to think that I was the happiest bird around until I saw a green & yellow parrot. He has 2 colors where I am just plain white— I think that the parrot must be the happiest bird.” Hearing that, the pigeon decided to go talk to the parrot. However, what the parrot told him confused him even more. “I lived a very happy life until I saw a peacock. Have you ever seen one up close? The peacock has multiple colors and is truly beautiful,” said the parrot. In order to see a peacock, the pigeon had to visit a zoo and indeed, hundreds of people had gathered to see the peacock’s colorful feathers. After the people had left, the little pigeon approached the peacock. “Dear peacock,” the pigeon said, bowing respectfully, “You are so beautiful. Every day thousands of people come to see you. When people see me, they immediately shoo me away. Surely you must be the happiest bird on the planet?” The peacock replied, “I always thought that I was the most beautiful and happiest bird on the planet because people come from all over to see me. But because of my beauty, I am trapped in a display. I’ve watched the world around me and over the years, I have come to realize that the pigeon is the only bird allowed to fly free. Quite honestly, I envy you & think you must have the happiest life.” Imagine the shock that the pigeon felt at that statement! We are not unlike the pigeon, however. We make unnecessary comparisons with others, overlooking our innate gifts. We let ourselves be saddened by what we don’t have & it can lead to a vicious cycle of unhappiness. There will always be someone who will have more or less than you; that is part of the hierarchy of blessings. Learn to be happy in what you have instead of looking at what you don’t have. Look at my baby Claire 7 years ago!? Where does the time go? Can you guess who got her interested in actually playing lacrosse 🥍??? It wasn’t her brother @cademacleod3 like I bet you thought! And it wasn’t either of her big sisters @kaylamacleod16 or @kitmacleod10 It was actually some of the older girls, like @zoeantona @carey.palmer @leahhurley11 @ecdover @lilyheilmann who held these casual leant the sport get togethers a few nights in the summer. They played fun games, got piggy back rides, ate popsicles, listened to loud music... this is what and who sparked an interest in lacrosse for all 3 of my girls. As much lacrosse as these girls grew up watching their brother play, they all resisted for a while. If you had told me 15 years ago I’d have a lacrosse player in my family, I’d have laughed. And to think, I have 4!!! Total #lacrossefamily Lacrosse is such a big deal to our family now! And to think if @dougmacleod4 had never put a stick in Cade’s hands...
