A/N: Started this for the Sen/Shi discord prompt table, but had another idea for a connected series. Now it's just Raye and Jonah's epilogue.

“Absolutely not.”

“Why? It’s a great idea!” 

Raye had to fight a giggle -- an actual, godforsaken giggle, what was the world coming to? -- at Jonah's indigence even as he kept his mouth practically glued to her throat. 

They were in a very precarious position, truth be told, making out in her office like a pair of horny teenagers. Despite having drafted up the proper paperwork with Molly in HR as soon as things turned real between them, and despite being nothing but professional around their colleagues since then, the last thing they needed was someone walking in on them.

Or worse yet find them banging in her bathroom, as Jonah had so charmingly suggested. Granted he had been slightly more careful with his wording, but the sentiment remained the same. Especially with his lips sucking a red mark against her collarbone, and his hand diving under the hem of her shirt to seek out bare skin. 

"We both know my father is looking for any excuse to have you fired. Pretty sure sexing up his daughter during office hours would do nicely on the termination papers."

"Westerberg would have an aneurysm if your dad fired me, and as much of a bastard as he is, I don't think your dad wants any blood on his hands."  

That did earn a giggle from Raye, despite her best efforts. 

"Finally," Jonah sighed against her skin. "Getting you to laugh is like pulling teeth sometimes."

Summary: The village held a festival when Jadeite was chosen to serve Prince Endymion. Very few were even chosen for this intimate duty to the royal family, and that a young boy from their small village would soon be the prince’s confidant reflected well upon their community. They hung lanterns along the street, gathering people from even nearby villages, who hoped to see the boy who would serve as Jadeite.

Jadeite himself still didn’t understand what was happening. His father assured him that his role as Jadeite would give him opportunities beyond his imagination. His mother barely looked at him, save to offer some food. Fate - Throwback Thursday Edition (Chapters 1-3)

I'm reformating Cruelty and Fairness of Fate (and its sequels) to archive at AO3, and thought I'd have some fun posting the chapters for throwback Thursdays. I've corrected a few typos and lines of dialogue, but the story is otherwise the same as when it originally went up in 2002.

It had been just over three weeks since Makoto and her friends had completed their latest school term.  They’d spent that night celebrating both their survival of it all and the temporary freedom they’d been granted.

Ami had begged off early, blaming her plane leaving at three the next morning as the cause.  As the blue-haired girl hugged her friends goodbye, Makoto began to feel an unpleasant pressure building in her chest. 

She felt it again two days later as they all stood at the bus station saying their goodbyes to Rei, Minako’s rather enthusiastic farewell drawing stares, a girlish giggle from Usagi, and mutters of “It’s just a phase” from Rei’s grandfather.

Too soon afterwards, Makoto found herself saying goodbye to both Minako and Usagi.  Usagi had been the last of the group to leave, and Makoto had stood there watching as her friend’s car pulled away just after dawn.  She had remained there for a time, even though the car was long gone from her sight.  The pressure and tightness in her chest was there again, stronger than it had been for a long time.

“You’re being stupid, Makoto,” she’d said to herself.  “They’re not leaving you.  In a few weeks, they’ll be back.  They’re all coming back.”

Since then, she’d done everything she could think of to occupy herself.  Makoto’s usually clean apartment was beyond spotless.  Every stray dish had been cleaned, every article of clothing washed and pressed.  Her kitchen looked like a bakery.  She had even finished all of her summer homework, though without Ami there to go over it with her, she couldn’t guarantee its accuracy.  All these chores, combined with her daily workout, had kept Makoto’s mind and body sufficiently occupied.

Then, three days ago, she received a postcard from Minako.  It was a kind and simple thing; just a note to say hi and let her know she hadn’t been forgotten.  Yet it had put Makoto in a slump that she couldn’t quite pull herself out of.

She needed to talk to someone or just see a familiar face...

Fragments of Us

For the @sailormoonrarepairweek Day 6: Break Up prompt

"I've never regretted marrying him. We had some really good years, and I got Ami out of it. And though I don't miss my husband, some days I do miss my friend."

Kaya never thought she'd be so happy to have Mizuno Suoh falling across her light in the library. But there he was, all his roguish charm centered on her. And it felt good not to be lonely anymore. Picking up immediately after Setsuna is called back to The Gate, we follow Ami's parents as they meet again and renew their friendship, through their marriage and Ami's first few years, to their eventual divorce. This piece fits between "That Night Beneath the Moon" and "While You Were Gone."

I was a little late for the prompt day, but I finally finished it. I had a timeline for Ami's parents bullet-pointed out, along with a lot of mental fill-in for the moments that took them from college friends to divorced parents. I hadn't planned on writing any of it out, but the break up prompt was all the encouragement I needed. Bonus points for it starting with Kaya's break up with Setsuna. 😅
