Nekomata: Nekomata are yokai that come into existence when a cat lives long enough - though their long life is not a blessing. Nekomata are filled with ill will towards humans, even their former masters, and are said to be able to summon fireballs, disguise themselves as humans, and reanimate corpses to do their bidding.

fukusu’s type of colour blindness makes her job a bit tricky , even if she Has adapted to it over the years , but what’s not tricky for her is the actual assassination aspect of it. due to her upbringing &. the arranged marriage mess she got caught up in , she is Incredibly Good at discarding any emotional attachtments to just about anything. if she’s hired to kill someone fairly young , she can get rid of any guilt centered around taking a life that young &. that just. makes it all around easier.

based off the nekomata , fukusu is a sub - species of cat faunus found particularly in the mountains of mistral. somewhere down the line , her bloodline ( as well as the rest of her village ) have evolved to specifically have traits in which the tail split into two. rare traits , often sought after by poachers.

she PRIMARILY alludes to the nekomata , but her abilities fall along more closely to the bakeneko , another japanese feline yokai typically confused with the nekomata. it is said that bakeneko store electricity in their fur &. that fact is where her semblance of electricity conduction comes into play.  her skin also gives static shocks after the use of her semblance , so if you plan on touching her for whatever reason , you’re gonna have a bad time.  &. this also !! brings her weapons into matters : a set of four japanese throwing needles , or bo shuriken  (  two on each hand  ) that she frequently uses as mini lightning rods. while they are loaded with fire / lightning dust should she get her hands on it , most of the time fukusu will simply funnel her semblance through the aura strings connected to her weapons &. use that to electrocute enemies / targets for similar effect. 

while fukusu is a trained assassin / remnant equiv. of a ninja / shinobi , she technically shouldn’t be , as the original plan was to set her up in an arranged marriage within the tribe &. follow tradition as usual. however when that day finally came , her parents &. the rest of the tribe would soon find this going entirely wrong , for she held her weapons to her suitors throat during vows. for some context , nekomura is a fairly traditional tribe where women are not trained for fighting like men , therefore she has a negative stigma with most of her tribe members &. no longer lives in that area.  she started her training in nekomura &. finished it with the help of outside sources. 

like most felines , she has tritanopia , which is also refered to as blue - green colour blindness.  which means in addition to blue being confused with green ,  it applies to yellow with violet as well.  it’s a crutch she’s unfortunate enough to have given her profession , though most of her clients provide photos of whoever they want to get rid of , so she’s normally able to identify just by face alone. 

she !! has no formal training as far as controlling her semblance goes , so due to a freak accident upon discovering it , fukusu has a large burn scar starting from her left shoulder blade &. all along the same arm to her finger tips. because she has such awful nerve damage , touch with that hand is extremely uncomfortable &. she keeps it wrapped at all times.
