#zé's whole indebted situation sometimes seems like a horror story so it's nice that he doesn't give a fuck actually

can you picture donald and/or panchito getting in fights with some guys to which zé owes money? i mean, how would they deal with zé's indebted existence? both from a more comedic and also a more dramatic perspective, that is
Ok so, since you specified for both a comedic take and a dramatic one, I feel like I have to do a small disclaimer just so people that don't have access to the Zé Carioca comics understand what's up with this parrot's way of life. As you know, every one of these Disney birds has some kind of over exagerated dysfunctional trait. Donald has his cartoonishly bad luck and temper, Scrooge has his stinginess, Panchito is literally trigger-happy and Zé's thing is that he likes being indebted! José so much enjoys owing people money that him not paying up is an actual point of pride for him in some stories. While in others, when under miraculous circunstances he's able to set his life straight by having all his debts forgiven, he refuses to accept that! It's agaisnt his nature to not have that kind of pressure on his back, and, in the end, he quite enjoys scamming, asking for money and running from bill collectors!!

So, I'm taking this specific trait of José's personality into account for the comedic answer. I guess I don't see Panchito and Donald getting necessarily violent to deal with Zé's debt collectors because... well, they would soon find out that Zé is in the wrong and, also, Zé usually manages to defend himself (run away) on his own quite alright. Although, if ANYONE were to try and hurt Zé, there's no doubt Panchito and Donald would jump up to protect their friend from getting beaten up. There's also that thing in some comics where José actually tries to hide that he is economically struggling from Donald and Panchito, so yeah, the caballeros would first have to figure out that Zé is 1. VERY POOR (something heavily implied to be his own fault for not working) and 2. chronically indebted (something heavily implied to be his own fault for not working.... x2)

I guess what I mean is, if Panchito and Donald were to find out the way that Zé lives in canon, they probably wouldn't mind much. Maybe there would be some chiding, in par with every other friend of Zé, but I can't imagine they'd change the status quo. That is because Zé owing half the city of Rio money is just one more of his lovable character's traits.
NOW, if we were to dial the drama way up and make Zé's debt something that he truly wished to get rid of... I imagine Panchito and Donald would move heaven and earth to help him! And if that means getting into a few fights, then so be it! Even if Donald and Panchito themselves don't have much money to which to help, they're the Three Caballeros, together through fair or stormy weather!
