Answering this publicly cause it seemed like you wanted me to, thank you so much! Both for following me again and for being worried it might have happened to someone else!! I hope not ;;;;
Anon said: your iidayama fusion... love him so much
Ohhhhhhhhhhh I’m glad, I loved that one concept probably the most out of every other one!
Anon said: Ahhh i love your art style so much!!!! Thank for all the good Kiribaku stuff my dude!!!❤❤
No anon thank you!!!!! 💕💕💕
Anon said: So, I’m just wondering what makes u ship Seromina? My friend only said that their shipped because there the only last two in the Bakusquad, ( Kiribaku, Kamijirou )
OHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH oh, okay! Actually I have no clue if that’s why other people ship them? It might be? It might also be that them being the last two out of the group made people consider the ship and then start actually enjoy the possibility of it? I don’t know! Personally SeroMina is one of the ships I’ve been shipping the longest (I’ve been on it since before starting to like kamijirou, actually!) and one of the only three ships in bnha I have a seriously hard time breaking up and shipping around (the other two being ochadeku and bakushima) so I’m reasonably sure my ending up liking them was an independent thought process and it wasn’t guided by shipping other things? But it’s been so long that I can’t really say why I first considered them as a possibility, so who knows, really! Might be, might not!
The reason why I’m still shipping it right now is that I find them highly compatible, that their interactions in canon give me life, and that I just find them extremely visually pleasing - I think I have a very specific way of shipping them? In my head? I have this story about them, or... an ideal way in which I like to think they might happen, and it makes me very happy and makes me feel very warm and it’s just, it’s ideal? To me, the possibility of Sero and Ashido ending up together would make for an ideal lovestory and relationship, it just gives me the fuzzies haha it’s like, you know, they’re very very good friends, and to me that’s the most solid base to start a relationship, and they’re comfortable with one another which is wonderful. They’re the same type of silly and extra and rowdy which is fun, and I’m very very stuck on the fact that when Ashido was talking about her future agency she just assumed Sero would be in it - she wants him in her future??? how cute is that!! he wasn’t the only one she mentioned so I’m not saying it’s “canon proof” or whatever, I just like that out of the squad the only one she assumed would be with her in the future is Sero, it’s soft I like it. And I like how she’s by canon called bright and shining and eyecatching and Sero’s by canon called plain, I like the possibilities in that, the feelings in that, but especially I like the idea of bright shining wonderful Ashido with her love for everything romantic and always in search of her own shining love story one day looking at Sero and realizing that she doesn’t want anyone else!! because he makes her laugh! he makes her happy! he makes her feel like she’s perfect the way she is!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! with her loud laugh and childish sense of humor and overly-bright fashion sense, and I love love love the idea of Sero thinking her completely out of his league and never thinking anything could ever happen between them but like, not in a sad pining sort of way? more in a “she’s ideal and I know she’s out of my league so I’m not putting any thought in it but she ideal”, only for Ashido!!! to confess!!!!!!! To HIM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! just thinking about it makes me feel all warm inside I’m talking too much okay I know I just love them So Much Hori please don’t pair them off with someone else I’ll cry a river
Anon said: Have you seen the newest BNHA chapter??

Anon said: Not a question but I NEED you to know that your bokuroteru tattoo au comic gave me the biggest motivation to start writing again (albeit for bnha, instead of haikyuu) because it's just sooo good!! Their interaction, the way bokuro seem confident and comfortable even tho they're actually lame dorks who blush a lot, the way teru confessed to the two guys, their kisses //// just gahhh everything about your comic gave me the dokis. You're an inspiration
I’m so so so happy to hear that oh my god!!! (TTATT) the fact that that comic can still make people feel stuff means so much to me holy heck I’m gonna cry ;;;;;;;;;;;;;; 💕💕💕💕💕💕

NOT OFFENDED SORRY FOR THE WAY I WORDED THE ANSWER seriously I’m really sorry I was just kind of already beating myself up over the fact that I haven’t been posting enough so the answer ended up sounding like that because in my brain I was like yeah fran where IS the stuff!!!!! so, yeah. Only 2 days left to apply as a writer for our zine!
Don’t miss your chance to work with these wonderful artists:
Tumblr media
jccatstudios says: I wanted to show Robin’s complexity in these sketches. While she’s a calm and powerful fighter, she’s also joyful and imaginative! Her strength, intellect, and courage are inspiring to all.‬
Tumblr media
Zorume-art admits: Perona is one of my fav characters in OP. I love her style and decided to draw her in other gothic clothes for the challenge ! I like to draw her, it’s easy and relaxing for me
Tumblr media
Art_Of_Firefly reveals: Conis and Raki opened a bar after the mugiwara departure so I drew them during their break , I choose to draw Raki like the others members of her kin, with darker skin and more muscles. I always found it weird that she was the only one with light skin.
Tumblr media
Art_Of_Firefly says: Kuina spend her days training so she have a lot of small injury she is also taking a break to breath a bit.
Tumblr media
Art_Of_Firefly tells: Rouge is such a strong and devoted character i really admire her and i hope I did her justice.
Tumblr media
Bui_giabao says: I really like her hair and her overall vibe. It’s because of her that we could see Nami’s awesome fighting abilities during the Alabasta Arc. 🙂 Her character seems spider-themed and kinda edgy, which is why I drew spider-webs on her trousers and a flashy fierce red jacket. Her skin is also darker because of the desert.
Tumblr media
Bui_giabao explains: Water 7 is inspired by Venice, which is why Chimney wears a gondolier-inspired outfit. She also wears swimming shorts because she’s a good swimmer. (It could be because she’s ¼ mermaid. :P)
Tumblr media
Bui_giabao tells: Dressrosa is kinda spanish-based, so Giolla is wearing a flamenco dress, which is worn at festivals in Andalusia, Spain. I can imagine, that Giolla would be an amazing dancer
Tumblr media
Bui_giabao confesses: I love Galette’s design, so I tried to give her reddish edgy clothes to emphasise her devil’s horn more
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Kiomiri warns: Both these girls are absolutely cute but don’t let that fool you! Holding steadfast to their ideals, and charging on when they need to, Nami and Tama pack a great deal of punch! I wanted to keep that in mind while drawing them hehe
Tumblr media
Ameiiiko says: I was feeling the lack of Toki content (both in the server & in general) & decided to fix that
Tumblr media
Ameiiiko states: Stampede!Nami was adorable and allowed me to draw the scars she has on her shoulders from Arlong Park and Alabasta. Plus, I figured that being out in the sun all day would give a girl a nice tan
Tumblr media
Ameiiiko declares: I’ve also been wanting to draw Black Maria and since we don’t exactly have a colour palette for her yet it was fun to play around and experiment with possible combinations
Tumblr media
Elamortieneoloraqueso states: I think she’s super underrated on the fandom. She is a woman i want to be like when im older. She was loving and caring with her children and the kids of the whole country, but Otohime was also super brave, willing to give her life to make the world a better place for mermaids/mermen and gyojins. I remember i cried at her speech about going to live to the earth with humans, below the true sun. She always had this attitude of “maybe you wont forgive humans, but think about the kids and the future generations”. Honestly a Queen. She changed the mind of a whole island and the heart of a Tenryuubito. But because of other issues the arc/saga itself had, she often is forgotten. But for God’s sake!!! How can someone not love her? Her design is also beautiful and creative, seriously, some people in the fandom are always talking about how Oda draws girls with big boobs, with no personality (this being an obvious lie) or just useless, but when a queen fighting for her people’s rights, brave, badass, kind, with an interesting personality and amazing design appears, people just ignore it or ‘forget’ about it.
So, what do you think?

Snowflake Fangirl Log #1: 2019 SF9 Live Fantasy #2 UNIXERSE In Manila [11.16.2019]
Log: SF9 Live Fantasy #2 UNIXERSE in Manila Date: 11-16-19 Time: 7:00 AM PHT Location: New Frontier Theater |  Araneta Center, General Mc Arthur Avenue, Quezon City, 1100 Metro Manila
Tumblr media
Snowflake Note Begin: This blog post contains TONS and TONS of swooning, fangirl emotions and just pure crazy because really, I was a total wreck after I met SF9. Who wouldn’t? I think every Fantasy would agree that we barely made it outside the venue because of the heart-fluttering moments that the boys’ performances, and our interactions with them, have brought us. I wrote this down to rehash my personal experience during the hi-touch and photo op fan benefits of UNIXERSE in Manila. Read at your own risk. ;)
Log #1.1: Hi-Touch Experience
While the concert organizers were busy guiding every Fantasy to line up for hi-touch, my eyes kept on going to the stage where the boys and the first Fantasys in line were at. I still remember how jittery I was back then because I saw that the line was moving too fast for my liking. All the time, I was thinking “What if the people move quickly when it’s finally my turn and I would not be able to say anything to any of them? What if I just hi-five them and that’s it? What if I blank out and not be able to enjoy the experience?”. I was so terrified that my hands were really cold and I was gripping my Hwiyoung slogan as if my life depends on it. IT WAS MY FIRST CONCERT EXPERIENCE. IT WAS MY FIRST HI-TOUCH EXPERIENCE. Please excuse the nerves! :D
As the line moved and I walked closer to the stage, I reined my nerves and braced myself to meet the boys. I mean, that’s SF9! How can one not panic and feel flustered knowing that you are close to meeting them? [Thank you so much, Ate Tala and Jill! They both cheered when I passed by them on my way to the stage] When I finally reached the stage, already so close to the boys, I swear I no longer felt my feet nor my knees. Up until now, I still feel so proud of how I did not stumble or made a fool out of myself by tripping on stage.
Okay so here goes... [5 days after the concert and I am still a ball of feels while writing this. #WhippedCultureAlert]
Disclaimer: I stand 4′11 so imagine this hi-touch experience with me looking up and extending my arms to the boys almost the entire time. HAHAHA
ZUHO I mean, how can people let him be the first in line? HOW?! His presence was and is so strong! The fact that I was still reeling with how strong his stage presence was during the performances and his solo stage, they placed him first in line!!! But when I reached him, I was immediately comforted because the person who met me there was Juho! He was all smiles way before I reached him. I blurted a hi-pitched “Hi, Zuho!” and he was like “Hello! Nice to meet you.”. And I’m---- I just plainly melted and somehow his presence, strong as it may seem from afar yet comforting and warm up close, calmed my nerves down.
JAEYOON We all know it’s impossible not to love this guy, right? He spoils us non-stop with barrage of selcas in fancafe and in Twitter. He has the sweetest voice and really even before I met him in person, Lee Jaeyoon is already lovable in my eyes. So imagine seeing that dimpled smile up close. Imagine hearing his sweet voice saying “hello” over and over. Imagine holding his hand and feeling him grip yours back. That was my experience with Jaeng. *swoon* All I was able to utter in front of god Jaeyoon was a swoony “Jaeeeyoooonnn~~”.
TAEYANG I never thought it is possible for me to get close to the sun but I did during UNIXERSE concert. Wow, Taeyag’s smile that day was really, really, really bright. He offered his left hand to me because he somehow hurt his right hand :( I was like “Hello, Taeyang! Happy to meet you.” Taeyang smiled even more and said “Thank you, thank you!”. If sexy Taeyang is deadly, I personally think sun-dazzling smile Taeyang is deadlier.
INSEONG This guy! HAHAHA Inseong was really being Inseong back then. He said “Saranghaeyo” by the time I held his hand and even before I said something to him. And me being me was like “Awww! Inseong! I love you, I love you!”. It was a brief encounter with Communication King but who cares? He said “Saranghaeyo” first! HAHAHA Up until this day, I still feel like I won. :p
ROWOON Fun fact: I stood on tiptoe just so I can reach Rowoon’s hand! HAHAHA And he smiled at me when he saw what I did! I’m so happy! I really had to reach out and extend my arms to hold his hand. I held his hand in both of mine and said “Rowoon! Good job!”. He dipped his head and said “Thank you so much.”. Before the hi-touch started, I was already prepared on what I would say to Rowoon. He worked so hard on the drama. He’s doing so well. All the time I was thinking, he should know how proud we are of him. I kind of messed it up a bit because I was supposed to say “You’ve worked hard.” but for some reason “Good job” came out. I hope I was able to let him know how proud I am of what he has become.
WARNING: Okay so uhm... I know I did not went through the first five members unscathed but the continuation of this blog... OMG! HAHAH Fangirl swoon maximum level!
When I bought the concert ticket knowing that it has hi-touch as one of the fan benefits, all I hoped for was meeting SF9 up close and, somehow, have the chance to say something to them. Even just as simple as uttering their names. I did not expect something big to happen. I did not expect any surprises at all. Weeks prior to the concert, my mind was set to the thought: having the chance to meet them is already a gift itself. So of course, I came to the hi-touch with that thought in mind.
Apparently, the goddesses of fangirls must have been watching over me that day because, I went out of the venue with wings attached to my feet and over the moon. As if the individual encounters with the first five members on the line were not enough, the world gave me such sweet, sweet surprises through the remaining members.
YOUNGKYUN - MY HWIYOUNG LOVE Days, well, even weeks before the concert, the thought that kept on nagging me was “What would I say to Hwiyoung?”. He is my bias. The only one for me. I want to tell him how much he has inspired me and that he still does. I want to tell him I love him. I want to tell him tons of things. But we all know it’s just hi-touch; the event will finish up in a breeze. There’s no time for long talks. So I asked friends after friends for suggestions. They gave me tons. HAHAHA One even suggested that when I reach Hwi, I should just fall over and have him catch me. That way, we’ll have a moment. HAHAHAHA [you know who you are, person] Fitting because I wore wedge sandals for the concert. I joked and even answered that I will probably do that.
Then, Hwiyoung’s solo stage happened. Right then and there, I felt like everything fell into place. I was so mesmerized with his solo stage. I was so caught up with how magical his presence was. With how beautiful he is while he’s up there, working hard and doing his best because he loves Fantasy.
[Sorry, TAP. I know you told us to just hold them with one hand.]
When I reached Hwiyoung, he was leaning close to the table. His gummy smile in place. His eyes were glowing and I swear, with the way the guy stares, I fell for him even more. Having the chance to hold Hwiyoung’s gaze was an out of this world experience! I held his hand with both of mine and... Me: Hwiyoung! You’re my favorite! And Hwiyoung, apparently, wasn’t done with capturing my heart. He gripped my hand back and when we let go, he touched his chest, gave me a little bow and... Hwiyoung: Oh thank you!
I just disintegrated.
CHANI Chani this little devil! The Fantasy in front of me finished her encounter with Chani way before I did with Hwi so he was not interacting to anybody when I yeeted my heart out to Hwiyoung. And so this guy, heard everything. After I exclaimed ‘you’re my favorite’ to Hwi, I clearly heard Chani chuckled and said “Kyeeoo” not too loud but enough for me to hear him. When I held his hand and said “Chani!” he was nodding and has this knowing expression on his face, as if he was telling me, “Don’t me, nuna. I already know who’s your favorite.” fjdkajdkaj It was so embarrassing but I’m so weird because I found the whole encounter cute! grrr! Plus - I could not get over that Chani’s cheeks really look like peaches! The flush on his cheeks are really real!
DAWON Lee Dawon CEO-nim! Lee Sekgwi! He was really a visual during the Manila concert! And it’s so cute because his face looks so fluffy and he looks so adorable! Dawon gripped my hand back, too! I was only able to mention his name and he said “Thank you!”. But mind you... I got another Dawon interaction during the photo-op! Yeay~!
YOUNGBIN Leader-nim! Youngbin is really tall and he was the last one in the line. For some reason, I held his hand tight almost as if I was drawing strength from him. And maybe I did. He had to lean close because I’m one small creature. I told him “Youngbin! Happy birthday!” and he smiled and said “Thank you!”.
That ends my hi-touch experience with SF9. I don’t know but I think I was able to make the most out of it. I enjoyed it a lot despite the incessant roaring of my heart while I was going through it. What other Fantasys said was right. There’s no such thing as preparing yourself for SF9. HAHAHAH
Tumblr media
Log #1.2: Photo Op Experience
This is just a brief summary of what happened during the photo op. I had a few more short encounters with the boys so I thought I should write this down.
Okay so photo op. The boys stood at the back of 10 chairs lined up side by side. A group of 20 Fantasy per photo. Of course, I wanted to sit near Hwiyoung or any of the members back then but I already had an amazing time during the hi-touch event and I did not want to be greedy. But then, my self control was tested when I was the 19th Fantasy in line who came on stage for that group photo and I had to squat on the floor just right in front of Hwiyoung with another Fantasy between us. Lucky girl! That made me a tad bit sad.
Hwiyoung, Dawon and Youngbin had other plans though. I swear, SF9 really has a radar of some sort when it comes to how Fantasy feels.
When the photo op for our batch was over, I stood and when I looked up, my eyes met Hwi’s!!!!! jdfkajklajkdal I am Miss Unixerse! HAHAHAHA I automatically waved at him and said “Thank you, thank you!”. He smiled and waved with both hands. The organizers were telling us to climb off the stage so I looked at Hwi and said “Byeeee” still waving my hands. THE CUTEST THING IN THE WORLD HAPPENED, THEN!!! KIM HWIYOUNG KIM YOUNGKYUN!!! MY HWIYOUNG LOVE SCRUNCHED HIS FACE AND POUTED!!! FOR THE LOVE OF... HE POUTED!!! My poor, poor heart was so helpless. I just... *deep breath*
As if that wasn’t enough, when I reached Dawon’s spot, he extended both his hands and waved at me! He said “thank you so much!” and I legit bowed to him and said my thanks. Youngbin followed and did the same thing, telling me “Thank you! See you next time.”
--------------------------------------------
I will definitely see all of you again next time, SF9! Thank you so much for giving me one of the most magical nights of my life. I will forever treasure my November 16, 2019 moment with you in my heart. No goodbyes. ‘Til next time, my sensational boys! I love you!

Hey, OP!! If pokepal reqs are still open, could you perhaps do one for me? Currently a freshman in highschool, nb and lesbian! I'm an INFJ and more of an artsy person who likes to draw, write, and sing, but I've never been too confident with my abilities. I'm also an absolute sucker for anything cute or pink whether it's figurines, anything produced by Sanrio or pastries! Overall, I'm just a socially awkward person and kind of dumb when it comes to academics I guess(??). - Elliot
(2) I always try my best to be a nice and enthusiastic person, but sometimes I slip and suddenly I'm pessimistic towards life, but that's highschool for ya. I'm really hoping I could get into teaching choir or just becoming a part-time artist and something else. While I have a slightly bright outlook, I'm also the person/friend who'll listen to anyone and not know the consequences of not standing up for yourself. - Elliot (3) Sometimes I feel like I'm never taken seriously with my feelings around my friends because it's just hard to find people who will give a response that's more than 'oof' or something that won't make you feel like they don't care. Sorry about the rant there, but on a positive note, I adore and love Christmas with all my heart! - Elliot (3/3) [I apologize about the clutter-]
Elliot? Do you mean...
Tumblr media
It’s a lot easier said than done but remembering to take care of yourself and being good to yourself is so very important. It’s an easy way to end the day off on somewhat of a good note-and this doesn’t mean falling in love with yourself or indulging in things you shouldn’t. But, like giving yourself a chance and just allowing yourself to be free with whatever you want to create whether its art, music, writing, etc. Practice makes perfect and it’s okay to be a little tough on yourself in order to do better but completely shutting yourself out will never allow you to grow and learn. Art is fluid and limitless!
I hope you find someone that will listen to you and hear you and be there for you the way that you need and I hope that you in turn will reciprocate this support as well. If it helps, my inbox is always open.
And I have the perfect partner for you! Let me introduce you to...
Tumblr media
Shinx! I think Shinx would be perfect for you because...
(1) Shinx loves anything that is shiny and extravagant! This means you can dress your little pal up and Shinx would not mind at all. Two little ribbons for each ear, a little costume for its body and a bowtie on its tail to finish off the look. I guarantee you that you’ll have everyone on the streets stopping to awe at your adorable little blue pal who walks proudly with a huge smile on its face as it shows off its outfit. Sometimes it will be hard to tell which one is your living, breathing, Shinx when it’s sitting in a pile of your Pokemon plushies! Shinx is loyal to the bone, which means that, there’s nothing that Shinx won’t do with and for you.
(2) As little as it is, Shinx is always honing its skills and constantly pushing itself past its limit. You’ll feel your heart grow three times in size when you see just how hard Shinx tries for you. The quote “fall down 6, stand up 7″ was written about Shinx because this Pokemon does not know when to give up. Shinx will keep practicing a certain move until its whole body is sore just so it can be perfect. Shinx will also apply this persistence when it comes to indulging in your hobbies with you. For example, it will keep working on one painting over and over again until it believes that it is good for you to look at it. No one is harder on itself than your little blue pal and you’ll find yourself in shock sometimes over how much you two mirror each other. Seeing how hard Shinx works will inspire you to do the same and in no time, you’ll find yourself improving drastically with your art and self confidence. You will also teach Shinx that it is okay to fail from time to time as that is part of the learning process. I think you guys would do great combining your creativeness and determination competing in Pokemon Contests!
(3) Though still in its baby form, Shinx’s emotional intelligence is quite developed compared to other Pokemon. It is able to read you with just one glance and knows immediately when something is off. Do not be afraid to confide in this little one as Shinx is always ready to lend an ear and a shoulder to cry on. Shinx will stay by your side and listen to you patiently and attentively while you vent and rant. It will be by your side consoling you until you fall asleep and sneak off to do something in hopes of cheering you up the next day. When you wake up, expect to find a cute drawing of you and Shinx by your pillow, wild flowers and berries on the dining room table, a burnt pancake siting on your favourite plate and an exhausted but eager Shinx waiting to see a smile appear on your face.
Other Pokemon Considered: Formantis, Goomy, Aipom

Fan Community Shines at Shield Hero Manga Signing
On a humid spring day in San Francisco, fans of the smash hit The Rising of the Shield Hero gathered on the second floor of Japanese bookstore Kinokuniya. Aiya Kyu, the artist adapting the Shield Hero light novels into manga form would soon take a seat in front of dozens of passionate fans. The event would be comprised of a formal interview, a fan Q&A session, a live-drawing, and a book signing. In the hour leading up to the event, the sense of anticipation was palpable–the air was electric.
The room at Kinokuniya was standing room only!
During the event, two fans cosplaying Naofumi and Raphtalia entered the store and were immediately swarmed with people requesting their photos! With good reason–they looked absolutely amazing.
Even Naofumi and Raphtalia showed up for the event.
Fans were also able to peruse a selection of Shield Hero merchandise ranging from T-shirts to manga and light novels.
As the manga artist, Aiya Kyu, took to the stage, the room fell silent. There was a really strong sense of reverence in the room–every eye in the audience was trained on Aiya-sensei as she answered questions and performed the live drawing.
Aiya Kyu effortlessly inking a pensive Naofumi.
Throughout the event, I noticed something really wonderful–people who were complete strangers before the event were talking to one another and building immediate friendships over their shared love of this story. I saw people connecting over their favorite story moments, comparing differences between the light novels, the manga, and the anime adaptation, and never once did I hear any of the typical gatekeeping that so often comes with discussions of anime adaptations and their source material. The fans who were here just wanted to connect with the creator behind something special to them, and to meet other people who loved the same thing they did. This is a really special community of fans, and this event represents the real, powerful ability of anime to bring people together.
Included below is a full transcript of the interview and Fan Q&A.
Interview
(Transcription credit: Kevin Matyi)
Tim Lyu (Crunchyroll Host): So, Aiya-sensei, how do you like San Francisco?
Aiya Kyu: It’s a very good place to spend your days, and I actually went around doing a lot of tourist-y stuff yesterday.
TL: Fantastic. Okay, let’s go and get straight into the in-depth questions–when did you start drawing manga, and how did you break into the industry?
AK: I always loved drawing. Ever since I was a child I was like, “I want to draw for a living,” so basically I went to school specifically for this kind of vocation. I was a manga assistant, then, finally I became my own manga artist.
TL: So how did you become involved in adapting The Rising of the Shield Hero to manga, and were you a fan of the novel before you started writing it?
AK: So I didn’t know about the series until I got the offer, and I was approached one day by the editorial staff at Monthly Comic Flappersaying “hey we have this series Shield Hero, would you like to draw a manga for it?”
TL: Many fans find Naofumi’s story to be very special and relatable. What makes Shield Hero stand out from other isekai (‘another world’) stories?
AK: So I’m sure that everyone’s gone through a time where they were betrayed or they were framed by someone else, and they felt alone in the world, so that they really feel some kind of link to Naofumi. That’s probably why they feel so much emotion for the series, and that’s also the reason why this series is so unique in the isekai genre.
TL: How closely do you work with Aneko Yusagi-san for the manga adaptation, and do they have an active role in the work?
AK: How to present a story in a manga form is slightly different than that of a novel, so we basically have a little bit of freedom, but I work very closely with Aneko-sensei to make sure that their worldview is still correct but that it still has that very manga feel to it.
TL: What has been the most challenging aspect of adapting the light novel into the manga?
AK: The most difficult part is the fact that there’s a lot more words involved in a novel, so it’s very hard to fit all of that in a manga–it gets too crowded if you try to force all of the original words in there, so trimming the fat, so to say, and making sure that it’s presentable in manga form yet still has all of the concepts that are in the original novel is the hard part.
TL: Right, because, like you talked about before, when you talk about magic in the light novel you can just spend pages explaining, but in the manga, if you keep all of that, you basically have a nice PowerPoint presentation. Y’all don’t wanna read PowerPoint presentations.
AK: (She laughs) So basically you want to preserve the tempo and feel, making sure the manga isn’t too sluggish so in more explanatory segments you try to use more art and use pictures over words to keep the flow going smoothly.
TL: Naofumi is a complex character who’s viewed as a villain but is actually deeply kind and generous. Was this a challenging character to work with?
AK: I believe the character is very easy to empathize with and you just get into it with him in the novels, so trying to keep that aspect of being easily relatable going to the manga was very difficult.
TL: One of the more popular characters, Raphtalia, is a very complex character with quite an intense backstory. How did you work to convey all of her depth in manga form?
AK: Thanks to all of the efforts of Naofumi, Raphtalia is a very strong woman nowadays, but it’s very important to remember the past that she grew up from. It’s very difficult but I always try to keep in mind her backstory and to keep the past that created what she is now.
TL: And here’s a nice little fun one: which character from Shield Hero is your favorite to draw, and why?
AK: Naofumi’s the main character, he’s central to the story, he’s easy to empathize with, so I find him easiest to draw.
(As Aiya-sensei said ‘Naofumi,’ sounds of approval and laughter spread through the crowd.)
TL: I like how the audience, when she said ‘Naofumi,’ was just like “heck yeah.”
(Tim and Aiya-sensei laugh.)
TL: Do you have anything you would like to say to the Western fans of The Rising of the Shield Hero manga?
AK: First of all, thank you for the invite to the signing event, because I wouldn’t be here to begin with if it weren’t for the novels. It’s really amazing to see so many fans here for this event. It makes me happy, and I hope that you guys all continue to like Shield Hero.
(Applause.)
A photo-op spot where anyone could become the Shield Hero!
Aiya Kyu then moved on to the Fan Q&A, starting with some questions sent in by our news readers from our article last week.
Fan Q&A
Crunchyroll News Reader: How do I improve my drawings to be a successful manga artist?
Aiya Kyu: Becoming a manga artist is not just skill–you also need luck in equal measure, but more importantly you need to be able to tell a story well, and not just draw well. So basically, in all aspects of drawing and storytelling, you just gotta keep practicing.
CRN Reader: Have you played any role playing fantasy games?
AK: In the past, I loved fantasy games and played a lot of them, but nowadays I just don’t seem to find much time to play very long games, so I haven’t been playing as much.
CRN Reader: Why have you chosen to draw this series in a more light mood than, let’s say a darker tone such as Berserk? We all understand that it’s primarily a good series and that it was drawn more light to help bring the more upbeat tone into it. However, Shield Hero has dark overtones in the story. Was this a request from Aneko Yusagi-sensei themself or was it your idea, since this was an isekai show?
AK: One big part of it was my original art style to being with. But I got very inspired by the illustrator for the original novels, Minami-sensei, and I wanted to approach that art style, so the inspiration from the original novels was a big part.
The event then transitioned into an open audience question and answer session.
Audience Question: When drawing the manga, have you experienced any emotional bonds with the characters, to the point where events that happened to characters still affect her?
Aiya Kyu: I’m sure that if I got too emotionally attached to a character, I would definitely feel some kind of emotion if something were to happen to that character, but I feel it’s better to pull back a bit and just look at the entire worldview. I always try to keep in mind to take a step back and look at the big picture instead.
Aud: Is there a character that you like drawing the least?
AK: I don’t have any particular characters that I don’t like drawing, like let’s say everyone’s least favorite character, Myne. I don’t have to really draw her as a beautiful woman so I can really relax while drawing her and so I have fun drawing her because I don’t have to make sure that she’s really cute. So I don’t have any characters that I don’t like drawing.
Aud: How does it feel drawing Mai solo?
AK: I just make sure that I give her evil looks. (Audience laughs) I just try my best to bring out the worst in her.
Aud: You already answered the question about your favorite character, but what’s your favorite shield design?
AK: I really like the small shield the best, because it’s the easiest to draw.
Aud: Were you expecting Raphtalia to become one of the most popular female characters of 2019?
AK: I really didn’t expect this at all when I was drawing the manga! I’m just transforming the already existing story into manga, so I didn’t really think too much about it.
Aud: Are there any characters that you want to see cosplayed?
AK: Let’s just keep it simple and plain. Give me Naofumi and Raphtalia.
Aud: What is your favorite character and why?
AK: I like the worldview of the series, and I like every single character. But if I really, really had to pick one, it’d be Naofumi because I find him the most fun to draw.
Aud: If you were trapped in an isekai, would you choose the shield, sword, spear or bow?
AK: Strictly speaking, if it was just for arms, I’d pick a sword.
Aud: Removing Naofumi, Raphtalia and Filo, who’s your favorite character?
AK: That’s a really hard question! If I really, really had to choose, since I like drawing monsters, maybe one of the monster characters, or Fitoria since she’s kinda somewhat a monster.

Fall 2017 had some of my favorite anime from the year as a whole—draws big ol' hearts around Girls’ Last Tour and Land of the Lustrous—so how did Fall 2018 compare?!? this is clickbait.
Starting with the leftovers from Summer, Golden Kamuy manages to be strong and intriguing despite being a project wholly mismanaged by studio Geno, who simply don’t have the staff give this show what it needs. I dream of a Golden Kamuy given to us by a Madhouse or a Bones. That said, I love Golden Kamuy very much, it is so unlike anything else in anime. Historical edutainment, cooking show, slapstick comedy, grotesque body horror...the sum of its parts is so strong that the horrible CGI bears almost don’t even matter. The season ends on such sequel bait that I’m just dying for more, oh god please.
You guys like sports anime???!? Run with the Wind sold me on its premise by virtue of taking place in college, which is just different enough to be interesting. I didn’t realize this one was a 2-cour, and when I did its glacial pace made a lot more sense. I do love a good underdog story, and no one in this club is looking to become an Olympian, that’s for sure. There’s something to be said about doing something just for the sport and community of it, and I like that a lot. Speaking of sports anime that are about coming together as a community and not so much about being The Best at This Sport Ever, Anima Yell was a delightful show about cute girls learning how to cheerlead!. It’s not inspired by any means, but it’s cute, fun, lively, and super enjoyable to watch. I was afraid there would be many opportunities for upskirts and raunchy gags, but Anima Yell is wholesome and just really invested in getting you to enjoy cheering on other people. GO FIGHT WIN! Tsurune is, unlike Anima Yell, just not fun to watch. It’s dreary, moody, and I ask myself wondering why anyone in this show has any friends at all. If this were my first sports anime, maybe I’d be more tolerant, but its biggest sin is that it’s just so boring. If it weren’t Kyoani, I’d have dropped it at episode 2.
Iroduku: The World in Colors was an incredibly pretty time travel story about opening yourself up to the world and the people in it after trauma. I felt it dragged a little in the middle, and some episodes felt just plain compulsory (gotta have an episode per club member!! unfortunately all club members are not equally interesting) but the last three episodes were clinchers. It came together to be quite a nice little package, if you don’t mind a little bit of melodrama. I wouldn’t necessarily go out of my way to recommend this one, but I would put it nicely on the shelf with comp titles like Angel Beats and After the Rain where it could hold its own.
The worst thing I watched this season was Girl in the Twilight, which was like a really bad episode of Black Mirror that just wouldn’t end. The plot involved some very convoluted alternate world hopping with cassette players of all things, but it also gave us Evil Amazon, Westworld: Japan, and a canon gay couple I Guess. While I wanted to like it for its sheer chuzpuh, unfortunately, everything about this show was Bad. Bad CGI. Bad character design. And worst of all: a Bad ending that never bothered to tie up any of its loose threads. Bangin’ OP though?
Oh my god you guys, watch Bloom Into You. I read a lot of GL manga and Bloom Into You is generally agreed upon as being one of the best: more of a character piece than a romance, uninterested in the noncommittal will-they-won’t-they agonizing of its peers, committed to saying something about the world and its characters more than just being fluff. As a manga reader, I had highish hopes—I’m quite fond of studio Troyca—and you know what, I actually felt I had a more enjoyable time watching this than I did reading it. I found it an incredibly sensitive and inclusive watch (ace, aro, bi, and lesbian characters??? In ONE SHOW??), and was, many times, struck by how true to LGBT experiences it was. A lot of GL manga either take place in a world where there are no bigots or in a world that erases the sexuality of women altogether (there’s a reason why “pure yuri” exists) or else exist in a “fanservice bubble”, but Bloom Into You is none of the above. GL anime are incredibly scarce and so few of them nail the actual, terrifying, honest-to-god experience of growing up and realizing you’re not experiencing romance or youth like other people are. I really, really hope the success of this show starts a trend of further adapting GL manga, because there are some excellent ones out there for the picking. My only complaint about this adaptation is that it ended too soon.
SSSS Gridman was the strongest directorial effort this season—a love letter to kaiju and the tokusatsu genre, a show about playing with toys and fantasy and escapism, bloated with so many references to mecha anime and old school Ultraman and a dozen other unrelated properties that the showrunners loved to buy toys of when they were kids. This is a show that rewards repeat viewings, as the first couple of episodes are hidden behind 5 layers of foreshadowing, red herrings, and referential Easter eggs. The bait and switch is delicious, and even though I felt like a lot of it went over my head because I am not in the know about all the extremely specific references this show was making, the journey is worth it. The scale feels huge, the reveals are all great, and the characters are engaging. Akane Shinjou is one of my favorite villains because she is also technically the protagonist, and also she is an emotionally messy kaiju fucker who lives in garbage and that’s delightful.
My favorite this season was a dark horse: the never-to-be-imitated-again Zombieland Saga. The incredibly vague descriptions and trailers that were put out before its release did not gear me up for the first episode. This was on purpose. The first episode had me so fucking floored I couldn’t believe I could still be surprised by anime. Even after a picked my jaw up off the floor and resigned myself to the fact that I’d been tricked into watching an idol anime, and I liked it, the show didn’t stop surprising me. It understood physical comedy in way that never got tired, but didn’t sacrifice any heart (hehe). I learned more about the idol industry than any other idol anime I’ve ever watched combined. There’s also something very tongue-in-cheek about having your idol anime--a genre done to death-- star zombies. It was a constantly surprising delight to watch, and I loved every episode more.

Faithful
I wrote a quick story inspired by this screenshot which recently sparked discussion on my dash. It’s meant to be a cute, sweet short story, so I hope you enjoy it!
Tumblr media
“It’s not cheating if you don’t get caught.”
He’d said the words in jest, about a poker game no less, but for some reason the statement played in my mind like a broken record - over and over.
When he’d said it, I’d dropped the rag I’d been tidying the penthouse lounge with in a rather inelegant fashion.
I was thankful that it didn’t make a loud noise (drawing the attention of everyone in the room), but nevertheless upon clumsily retrieving it I still came to realize that my actions had drawn his gaze. He smiled gently at me, and I smiled back in an attempt to push down my own insecurities that were beginning to gnaw away at my insides, and went back to my cleaning duties.
I couldn’t understand why the statement had struck a chord with me when I knew full well that I had no real reason to doubt his faithfulness to me.
Since we’d met he’d been nothing but honest with me, and from what everyone said, he was crazy about me.
Even though we’d only been exclusive a few months, from the moment we’d met he’d always put my needs first. Whether he was making my life easier by helping me with my work duties or taking me out on romantic dates, I directly benefitted from everything that he did.
On those rare occasions that his work took him away from me, he’d kept me smiling during our time apart by sending sweet messages, flowers, and even a singing telegram. Upon his return he’d come straight to where I was, be it home or work, and take me in his arms as he whispered, “I’m home” in my ear.
In fact the more I thought about it, the more I realized that everything had been perfect since we’d met. Perhaps that was why his careless words had caused these negative feelings to overtake me - it all had been too easy...
...and that left me feeling suspicious.
It’s fair to say that Baba was one of the most handsome men I’d ever dated and as a result, I couldn’t help but shake the feeling that when we were together people gossiped about how I’d landed a guy who was clearly out of my league.
When we were out in public, I was aware of the way that other women watched him, following him with their eyes and even going so far as to approach him in my absence.
The last time he’d taken me out, I returned from the restroom only to find a woman gently touching his arm as she laughed with him at the bar. She’d coyly sipped her drink, and I could tell that she’d seen us together only to determine I offered little competition.
I did my best to hold my head high and upon my approach he’d effortlessly shaken off her touch, and grabbed my hand introducing me as his girlfriend, which ultimately caused her to slink away (though not before giving him her card).
He apologized to me and smiled as he made a show of ripping up her contact information, all the while assuring me that I was the only woman for him. It wasn’t long after that we headed back to his room where he made me his like he always did, showering me with his love in an attempt to reassure me.
I went along with it, pretending not to care, pretending to believe him...
...but deep down I worried.
In the past, I’d gone after bad boys, or more accurately, they’d gone after me.
The pattern was always the same - we’d meet, we’d flirt, and eventually I’d realize that they were trouble but at that point found myself in too deep to care.
Our whirlwind romance would end in my heartbreak, and it usually came at the hands of another woman. It was never her that was the problem and I knew that, but I couldn’t help but look at her and see everything that I wasn’t. In my mind they were always prettier, smarter...better than me.
And I worried that it would be the same with him.
My first day on the job I’d heard from a few of the maids that there was a VIP who was an incorrigible flirt. They told me that he was extremely handsome, but not to take him seriously seeing as how he showered every pretty girl with the same type of attention.
I had ever intention of avoiding him, but as luck would have it we kept running into each other. At first it seemed that we always ended up in the same elevator, which transitioned into him joining on my breaks in the hotel’s cafe, before finally getting me the job cleaning the penthouse where it was revealed that he was a womanizer and thief.
I should have protected myself from falling any further for a man like him, but instead found myself spending more and more of my free time with him. What started as politely accepting his invitation to lunch soon became Saturday dates and finally romantic dinners overlooking the city.
One night he paused at my door and kissed me. I kissed him back, not regretting opening my heart to him in the slightest and now...
...now I was worrying over a simple, throwaway statement about a poker game.
That was how much I loved him and didn’t want to lose him.
By the time my cleaning was done, the card game was over, and my boss was the only one left in the room.
As Baba’s words repeated in my mind once more I sighed, which caused the otherwise aloof Mr. Ichinomiya to take notice.
“What is it?”
“It’s nothing, sir.”
“It’s clearly not nothing. You’ve been moping about all day - spit it out.”
“I just...something Baba said before is bugging me.”
“That thing about cheating?”
I nodded, surprised by Mr. Ichinomiya’s shrewdness.
I’d figured the comment had been said in passing, that Mr. Ichinomiya who hadn’t even been playing the game would have no memory of it, yet it was obvious he saw through me.
“Why waste your time with someone who you’re worried will cheat on you?” he asked with an amused smirk.
“I...”
“Baba’s a thief. A womanizer. A cheater. Right?”
“You know as well as I do that he’s more than that.”
“Oh?”
I knew what Mr. Ichinomiya was doing, but I appreciated it nonetheless. I could feel myself starting to smile as I thought about the man I’d gotten to know these past few months who was full of contradictions.
Baba only stole from the corrupt and morally bankrupt, often reuniting people with what was rightfully theirs. He flirted with women in an attempt to stay in control, thereby guarding his fragile heart.
And he only cheated if he was caught in an impossible situation.
Thinking about who he was made my heart beat a little faster, and with a grateful box and smile I gathered my things, thanking Mr. Ichinomiya before making my exit.
That night, I carefully plated the pasta before placing the bowl down on my kitchen table.
The elaborate meal contrasted with my modest living quarters, but I felt certain that he would enjoy it. I knew that despite obvious appearances, everything that Baba did, he did out of fear that deep down he wasn’t good enough.
He’d lived most of his life hiding behind his flirtatious veneer, worried that if people saw who he really was they’d run and I felt guilty that I of all people had forgotten this. His bravado, his cavalier attitude towards cheating - all of it was a part of the mask he hid behind and it was only after speaking with Mr. Ichinomiya that I’d been reminded of who Mitsunari Baba really was.
He was a man I loved, and I hummed to myself as I dedicated myself to making this night about him.
“Hello?”
His voice caused me to whip around, and I saw him standing in my doorway, a bouquet of flowers in his hands. I’d told him in my text message that I wanted him to join me for dinner, in addition to making it clear that he didn’t need to bring anything other than himself.
I had hoped that he’d believed me, that he’d have taken my words to heart, but the flowers made it obvious that he’d gone out of his way.
Seeing that made me want to reiterate that he didn’t need to bring me flowers, that he alone was enough, but instead I greeted him with a loving kiss, taking the flowers from him as I thanked him for being so thoughtful.
When he saw the dinner I’d prepared his eyes widened and he pulled me towards him in a small hug.
“You did all this for me?”
“Of course - you’re always making me happy and I wanted to do the same. Did it work?”
He nodded with a smile, but I could see his eyes begin to water and knew that the gesture meant far more to him than even I’d been able to anticipate. I hoped in that moment he understood how I felt and that one day in the future he wouldn’t feel the need to go out of his way for me.
“It looks delicious!” he said with a laugh as he pushed down his feelings, doing what most men did when their emotions threatened to control them.
“Good...I hope you like it.”
Taking a big bite of the pasta, he nodded emphatically.
“I can’t believe you made all this for me!”
I paused for a moment, glancing at the takeaway containers hidden in a bag, within a bag, that currently resided behind my garbage.
As he happily ate my “home cooked meal” he was completely unaware of the fact that in actuality I was a terrible cook. I would have felt guilty about lying, but seeing as how he’d said himself that it’s not cheating if you don’t get caught, I wasn’t about to let him in on my little secret.
Instead I smiled at him, and lovingly rubbed his arm, as I met his affectionate gaze with my own and said to him with a smile, “You’re worth it.”
I wrote this on a whim so I hope you liked it! If you do I hope you’ll consider sharing it and if you’re feeling really generous I hope you’ll consider buying me a coffee!

AN: hello!!! wow I’m really nervous about posting this but I’m also really excited! this will be a series about Velox, Prompto’s twin sister, and her journey with the boys to Altissia!
TAGS: I’m just gonna tag a few friends that I admire and who have inspired me to post my own writing
@joioliviapolaroid @themissimmortal
—————————————
Click. A bright flash of light lit the dark room for a moment. She frowned. Click. Light appeared for another brief moment. She forced her eyes to open.
It was morning. The sun tried desperately to shine through their bedroom window, but the curtains denied its entry. Where was the light coming from?
“Smile!”
Before she even had time to oblige, a final flash went off.
Velox’s eyes fluttered open. She was met with Prompto, who sat on the ground at the side of the bed with his legs crossed.
“C'mon Prom, it’s too early for this,” Velox slurred groggily.
“It’s never too early for a photo op!” he said perkily, bringing the camera to his face.
The blonde put her hand in front of the lens. “Wait. Lemme see what you’ve got so far.”
Prompto handed the camera to his sister.
Velox shifted to rest on her elbow. She took the camera and held it so that they could both see the screen. She hit a button with an arrow on it and scrolled through the pictures her brother had taken. In the first photo of the morning, she was slumbering peacefully. In the second photo, her eyebrows were scrunched together, giving her an annoyed expression. In the last photo, the blonde looked dazed and confused.
“See! Real keepers!” her twin beamed, “Candids are the best.”
Velox chuckled, “Next time, can-don’t. The lighting’s not even good.”
“I didn’t wanna wake you!” he argued.
“Don’t sacrifice good lighting for my sake.”
“Alright, alright. A lighting fix is a can-do.” Prompto stood up and scurried comically to the window.
She smiled and shook her head. Velox ran her fingers through her short hair, which resembled a bird’s nest in the early morning.
“Let there be light!” he shouted, drawing the curtains.
She hurriedly raised the camera and pointed it at the blond. Click.
“See?” Velox said, turning the camera so that her brother could see the photo, “Good lighting works wonders.”
Prompto’s arms were dramatically raised above his head, as if he had just won a gold medal in a competition. Sunlight poured through the window and swallowed him whole. His body appeared to be glowing.
“Woah! I look like a god!” he said, staring at the photo in total awe and admiration.
Velox gazed at her brother and grinned. This is exactly how everyone sees you, sunshine.
•••
“Just calm down, bro. We’ll be fine,” Velox said, trying to soothe her nervous twin.
“B- But what if I mess up? What if I say something stupid and embarrass myself?” Prompto’s mind was racing with every terrible scenario imaginable.
She placed a hand on her brother’s shoulder and gave a reassuring look. “I’ll be right by your side.”
His worried expression melted away and morphed into one of confidence. “Yeah.”
“Are you ready?” Cor asked.
The twins nodded.
He brought his hand to a large door with intricate patterns and knocked.
A voice from within answered. “Come in.”
Cor opened the door and entered the room. “Pardon the intrusion.”
“Cor?” it asked.
He motioned for them to join him. Prompto gulped and looked to his sister for comfort. She smiled and winked at him. Velox placed her hand on his back and guided him forward. The twins walked into the room and stepped out from behind Cor.
“And pardon us,” Prompto began. His eyes fell on the figure standing beside the owner of the voice. “Wait, Gladio!?”
“What’re you doin’ here, guys?” Gladio asked, looking slightly puzzled.
“They’re here for their Crownsguard uniforms, so I thought it best they met the captain themselves,” Cor clarified.
“Makes sense.”
Clarus studied their faces for a brief moment. “Prompto Argentum, am I right? And his sister, Velox Argentum?”
The twins answered in unison, “Y-yes, sir!”
“It’s a pleasure to meet you both,” Clarus smiled, “No injuries from training, I presume?”
Prompto shook his head furiously. “No, sir! It went just fine, I think. Probably.”
“We are ready to protect Noct at any cost,” elucidated Velox.
Her brother nodded in agreement.
“Very noble of you both. However, you must first and foremost protect yourself on this journey—hence your self-defense training,” Clarus advised.
“R-right.”
“I understand you both decided to undertake this journey as his friend. Take pride in your position at his side,” He added.
“Right!” Prompto started, “And, uh-”
“Thank you,” Velox finished.
“I appreciate your time today. I assume you have some preparations to take care of, so you may be on your way,” Clarus concluded.
“Yes, sir!” the twins said in unison.
“I better get ready, too,” said Gladio.
Clarus glanced at his son, “Understood. I’ll see you soon.”
Prompto spun around and hurriedly left the room. Gladio and Velox followed close behind.
“That went well,” Velox stated.
“Yeah,” Prompto sighed in relief, “It did, didn’t it?”
“You gonna wait for Noct here?” Gladio asked.
Velox shook her head. “We’ll probably head home for a bit.”
“Why? Forget something?”
“No, nothin’ like that!“ her brother said, “Just thought we’d show our parents our new digs.”
The Shield laughed, “Heh, sounds good.”
“It’s kinda proof that we’re worthy to go on this trip, y'know?” Prompto continued.
Velox’s curled lips faltered. “Let’s just hope they’re actually home.”
“Not much you can do if they aren’t, huh.”
“We barely ever see ‘em. Been that way since we were kids,” she shrugged.
“Anyway, if they’re not in, we’ll come right on back!”
“Right. Well, I might be a little late,” Gladio informed, “Got dinner plans.”
“Do tell.”
“My family and I are going out to eat. Hardly ever happens, so I figured I might as well go along,” he explained.
“Sounds like fun! Enjoy, man,” Velox nodded.
“Take your time, and send Iris our regards,” Prompto added.
“Oh, yeah,” Gladio said, tapping his chin, “She mentioned she saw you guys the other day.”
The blond shot him a confused look. “Huh? Where?”
“In the park, taking pictures.”
“Sounds about right. Why didn’t she come over and say ‘hi’ if she saw us?”
“She did,” Gladio and Velox answered at the same time.
“H-hold up. Seriously?” Prompto looked between the two, shocked, “Oh man, I can’t believe I didn’t notice.”
Velox playfully hit her brother’s shoulder and snickered. “Who’d you think I was talking to?”
“I- I don’t know!” he said, flustered, “I thought you were just chatting up some girl you thought was cute!”
Gladio and Velox looked at each other for a moment and then broke into a fit of hearty laughter.
“She was really worried about you,” The Shield said jokingly.
“She really was,” Velox suppressed her giggles and wiped her tears away.
“You should’ve told her not to worry!”

dude your recent demon & angel kiribaku art reminds me a little bit of aziraphale and crowley from good omens!! like aziraphale would be angrier as baku obvs but still i thought of it and it made me happy lol
A lot of people have mentioned that in the tags/under the post and that makes me!!! super happy!!!! Good Omens is one of my fav books and Crowley one of my fav characters, so the comment feels nice! I wasn’t specifically thinking about them when drawing it, but possibly a bit I was influenced anyway!! I wonder if what made everyone think about them was Kiri’s sunglasses? It’s not noticeable but I did give him glowing eyes too after all haha
Anon said:Have you ever thought about how op a TodoBakuDeku fusion would be? (if they could stay together that is lol!)
Never thought of it tbh, but at this point I’m pretty sure with a lot of work on Baku’s part they’d be able to stick together long enough! He wouldn’t find it comfortable but they’d def be one of the strongest three-people-fusions in the class - not the strongest, tho, since they all have the same sort of straightforward offensive power when it comes to their quirks, I think I could find three people who’d make a stronger fusion... Baku Kiri and Momo, for example, would be even more impressive imho! Since all their quirks cover a different field, and their minds/personalities mesh well enough to have the right amount of planning and instinctive reaction/self-preservation and safety of others/pride and self-doubt/lawfulness and chaotic acting and so on. Even just as a team, without counting them as a fusion, I think they’d make one of the most balanced ones! Compared to that putting Todo Deku and Baku in the same place is just a recipe for disaster more often than not haha
Anon said:no, i move slow, I wanna stop time, I'll sit here til I find the,, inspiration to draw,,,,,,
LMAO it’s a song about art block after all, I feel every word in it a whole damn lot hahaha
Anon said:Art block or no art block, I love everything you come up with 💜
AW HECK ANON you’re so sweet!!! Thank you so much!!!!! ;O;
Anon said:Mixing thei hero names? So uuuh King Riot?
We still don’t know Baku’s hero name, so anything might be, really! It’s why I didn’t outright have Kiri mention any idea, I got no clue myself where he was going with it haha it’d be cool if his hero name were Ground Zero, because it’d mix well with Red Riot imho (Red Zero or Ground Riot or Red Ground, they all sound nice!) but what if Baku’s hero name ends up just being Katsuki, after all? How do you mix that with Red Riot? (the answer is Red Victory, or Akatsu!! from akai (red) + katsu !! ngl I’ve thought about this a lot lmao) anyway so many possibilities so little known facts!
Anon said:I love the details on Kiri and Baku's skin. Great job!!
THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!
Anon said:!!!!!!!!!! fran oh my god your zine piece is so beautiful!!!!!!!
Sob thank youuu!!!! I’m glad you liked it!!!! ;O;
Anon said:i just got my zine and the art and writing was so lovely, i loved your comic at the end. an amazing way to end the zine♡
THANK YOU!!!! I’m jelly, I still haven’t gotten mine ;O; I hope the comic was easy to read even in printed form, I’ve been worried about that for months hahaha rip at least there’s the pdf
Anon said: i’m in love with your kiri bday art!!!! with the colorless art like that, are we allowed to color it? of course no posting it, but just for fun.
If you promise not to post it, I’m cool with it! Thank you for liking it enough to want to do that!!! Seriously tho don’t post it if you do
Anon said:Can you draw more kamisero? g u d q u a l i t y s h i p ma' dude.
Maybe? Currently it really isn’t between my top priorities but who knows
Anon said:FRANNNNN!!!! Your comic for the Take My Hand zine!!!! I'm gonna cry! It's so beautiful and the boys are so perfect! Your art is so amazing, I was so thrilled to see your piece. Not to mention the detail you put in. Their hands killed me! With Bakugou's palms and Kiri's arms! Ugh, I just can't, I love it so much.
I’M SO GLAD YOU LIKED THE HANDS it’s weird bc that one panel is probably my fav in the comic and I was so sure no one was gonna really notice it but!! So many people did!!!!! It makes me so happy oh man ;O;
Anon said:Hey coulda maybe make a traitor Kaminari comic?
Nope! No traitor arts here, sorry! SInce I don’t believe any of the theories to the point of finding them outright laughable, any art I could ever make about it would just come out looking either fake or ridiculous and no one wants to see that lmao
Anon said:your take my hand comic!!! it's so good!! thank you for doing the boys so well ;;;
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THANK YOUUUU!!!!!!!!
Anon said:I don't know if you remember, but a couple months ago I asked if it'd be okay for me to write something based on a few of your art pieces. Would that still be alright? Your art is gorgeous and makes my brain think and brings joy to me all the time ^^ would absolutely link to the art and credit you. that's not even a question :)
That still depends on which art you’re specifically talking about! And thank you so much for the compliment!!
Anon said:I don’t know if you read fan fiction, but I have one to suggest to you! It’s called, “It’s Obvious When You Lie”. Only three chapters are out so far, but it’s really good!
I’ll add it to my marked for later list then!! Thank you so much for the rec, I don’t easily try out ongoing fics so this was very nice of u!!!
Anon said:In the body switch AU Todoroki sees how fucked up Midoriya feels around Bakugou('s body?) and realizes wow fuck this guy has traumatized my bf. I wonder what I can do to fuck w/ him so the day before they switch back (So Bakugou can't do much in retaliation) he takes Bakugou's body and does the stupidest bullshit ever as revenge
HECK anon sorry but nothing like this would happen ever as long as I’m the one writing the AU! For three main reasons! One, I don’t think Deku is traumatized at all! His relationship with Baku at the moment is actually pretty damn neat and on equal footing, you go you two, growing so much!! Two, Baku and Todo are friends!!! And Todo would never be a dick to Baku instead of just talking to him, if he had a problem with him!! Three, even if one and two weren’t true, Deku has no need for knights in shining armor fighting his battles for him!! He’s a strong independent boy and if he hasn’t fought Baku over this it’s probs cause he doesn’t want anyone to fight him over it!!! Also in this specific AU Todo and Deku aren’t dating, so the scenario doesn’t work for me! Sorry!
Anon said:Have you ever thought about krbk wedding?
I have! And I’ve talked about it on here a few times too! Lately I’ve been thinking about it again tho, from a designs point of view, because!! There’s that very neat post going around tumblr about that wedding photos in which one of the two grooms has a white tux with a cape, and I’ve been thinking about a variation of it for Kirishima’s wedding suit :0 something red instead of white, but generally similar! It’s a lot of effort to draw it so I still haven’t, but yeh!!
Anon said:Hello! I read this fic about your cat comics and the author said to send you some love in their end notes so here is some well-deserved love: your art is beautiful! It's why I became interested in BakuShima and I would not have loved these characters as much if it weren't for you. You also seem to be a very nice person, your mind is beautiful and I am glad you exist
G O DS this is such a nice ask!!!! thank you so so much!!!! ;O;
E grazie!
NUHHHH GRAZIE A TE PER ESSERE COSI’ GENTILE OMFG !!!!!!!!!! ;A;
Anon said:Okay okay okay! I adore your art! Could you maybe... draw some KiriBaku fantasy? If it’s not too much to ask! It can be as simple as can be! Your art is just really cute!
Yes I can and yes I will!!! Definitely and in the near future, did you know one of the app games JUST revealed a fantasy wolf Baku as a special halloween chara?? It’s just fantasy Baku with wolf ears and tail, but he’s adorable and I’ve been wanting to draw him since I saw him this morning ;O; so cute!
Anon said:Pssst. Singer Baku, Guitarist Kami, and Drummer Kiri. A good hc if I do say so myself.
It IS a great thought!! Drummer Kiri and Singer Baku have always been a weakness of mine too, so heck!! What a good image! If we put Jirou on bass and vocals too and sero on keyboard and mina on guitar, you make my fav band right then and there hahaha
Anon said:I'm not in the BNHA fandom at the moment but your art still continues to give me the warm fuzzies
GODS ISN’T THIS A NICE ASK!! I’m happy I can make you enjoy even characters you’re not specifically into! Thank you so much for sticking around!!!! ;O;
Anon said:i just got into bnha and fell in love with your art, started going through your sketch tag, and then realize that youre the person who made a bunch of haikyuu comics i loved a while ago so im! very glad to rediscover your stuff!!
HOLY GODS THAT’S NEAT!!! Welcome back!!!! ;O;
Anon said:I love it when you draw kiri with his hair down 💕💕💕 so good, so pure 💕💕💕💕
Oh boy thank you!! ;O; he’s so much easier to draw with his hair spiked for me, knowing people like the way I draw his hair when down means a whole damn lot!!
Anon said:Hello! First I love your account and artwork! Second will you ever be drawing Mako and Taiyou again? They are so adorable! Also Bakugou and Kirishima seems like amazing dad's!
Thank you!!! And yes I will! I have another ask around here asking about them, so maybe soon! Just gotta find the right idea to draw, I got a bunch but they’re all way too long for my curret attenton span level sadly hahaha rip
Anon said:lmaaaaooo my boi kaminari be having an emotional awakening
Kaminari is like, he’s always somewhere subconsciously known that Baku’s objectively pretty, but since he knows him so well and he’s always around him and most of the times they’re bickering and making fun of each other he’s never actually realized, so now he’s like oh, NOW I see it hahaha
Anon said:hi u probably get this enough but I wanted to give u all my appreciation for ur art thank u for sharing it with us I love everything u post ♡♡♡
THANK YOU!!!! It might be greedy of me but this sorta asks are never enough for me, so seriously thank you for taking your time to drop by and be so nice!!!
Anon said:Could you please draw more of the body swap au? Or what if a different pair of students were to switch?
I’m not gonna draw any other switch with other students, because before settling on Baku and Todo I went through a lot of possibilities and came to the conclusion that nothing would be as funny as Baku and Todo switched are (or at least nothing Horikoshi hasn’t already done himself lmao) so there’s that. I might draw more of them switched, but to be honest with you the only idea with that concept I have right now is Bakugou forgetting he’s suddenly taller and continuously walking into things around the dorms, so there’s that as well hahaha

are you going to draw more of that lovely erasermic? :o
Unless I find reasons to stop shipping them in the near future, then sure~ as I said, I really like that ship
Anon said:i love it when you draw chris and josh, you should do it more!! Your oc's are great!!
THANK YOU! I’m really really happy to hear you like them! I draw them just as much as I wish to, tho haha
Anon said:THANK YOU FOR BLESSING US WITH MORE CHRIS!!
Anon said:Honestly I love your ocs so much! I like seeing your fanart because you really flesh out characters we don't get enough development of, but I really love seeing your ocs. I can tell you love them and enjoy drawing them just by looking at it, and that makes me love them even more! You're a wonderful artist!
SOB thank you!!!!! holy heck!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ;O; I can’t believe how much love my kids get hahaha I’m so so grateful aaahhhh!!!!
Anon said:Okay, so I was just going to tell you how great your comic is (and it is), but I just read your last ask to that anon, and I'm sorry, but deku didn't do nothing to gain his quirk? Like, what? He risked his life and almost killed himself trying to say his exfriend/then bully? That isn't just "being nice"? He didn't know all Might would save him? He risked his life even though he was powerless just to help another person? He earned the quirk, all Might said so in the second episode, like, what?
Since you don’t seem to want a polite and civil exchange of opinions on this, and are actually being incredibly rude here (whether you meant for it or not, I don’t know) I hope you won’t mind me keeping this as short as I can. All Might worked in the beginning of the bnha manga as a textbook definition of a deus ex machina, came around, solved an otherwise unsolvable plot point out of the blue bending the laws that had just been established for that universe, and Deku literally (literally) didn’t have to go through any conscious trial, soul-search or any other self-aware journey with the intention of fixing his own problem. All he did was to be heroic and to be quirkless, which for him are circumstances since those are innate traits of his character. And the only singular thing he has is that he’s quirkless, his heroic personality is shared by all of UA (Mina acted in the exact same way in Kirishima’s backstory as he did to save Bakugou, didn’t get any cool op powers out of it)
All Might was supposed to give OfA to Mirio, the literal most heroic character in bnha, a boy who had been working his ass off to become a proper hero since he was a child, but instead he found a quirkless kid and decided that he deserved a chance to become a hero too. I’m not saying that’s not true, or that Deku didn’t deserve it. I’m saying that he didn’t actively or consciously do anything to gain that power. He simply acted in a way true to his self, and that was it.
I’m gonna have to make present to you that the next time I get an ask with that tone in my inbox I’m blocking you without answering. I’m not here to be called an idiot by the first random stranger I find online, if you want a conversation with me all I’m asking is for you to be polite, that’s not too much at all in my opinion.
Anon said:Your last BakuShima comic was so cute!!! AAAAA!! 💖
Thank you!!! I’m super happy you liked it!!!!!! :O
Anon said:I love you. So much right now. Can I give you a virtual hug because I swear
I dunno what I did to deserve this but SURE *holds u back*
Anon said:do you think you'd ever sell any minajirou merch? (maybe like the one with the flower background) because if you do i would buy 20 (not literally but,, i think you get the point) Sorry if this sounds annoying or anything! im just curious
Not annoying at all!!! If I remember right the one I posted was a bit small tho, I’ll have to see if I can work with the size in a way that would fit the default redbubble dimensions... if I can’t I’ll be sure to make the next one big enough to fit, tho!!!! And thank you for wanting to buy my stuff!!!!! :O
Anon said:I'M NOT THAT ANON BUT I CAN HELP W MOMOJIROUS & yes we totally agree they're fuckin gay and canon there's no doubts here. SO anyway I at least see them liking in each other exactly what you said- they have what the other lacks (or thinks they do), and still find the other to understand them and be interested in them in every sense of the word, also tol and beauty and smol and cute are def the first thoughts about each other, damn maybe I should have thought about word limit I need more space
Awwww anon I thank you for trying to explain to me why they work!!! But that’s not the problem I have with it at all haha I understand the ship on a superficial level perfectly, that’s why I ship it! I just can’t seem to find myself in the relationship anywhere, so empathizing with it comes harder than it does when it’s MinaJirou haha
Anon said:you draw kirishima's eyes so pretty I can't look away from them
THANK YOU Kirishima’s eyes are super pretty in canon, I’m so so happy I can portray that in my style well enough!!!!! :O
Anon said:Ok, sorry for going through ur hq!! tag sjeow, oh gosh I love ur art and ur art style and I love the way I draw the boys !!!! Aaaaaaaaaa!!!!!!!! Thank u for blessing my night!!!! I hope something makes ur day the way going through ur art *cough* again *cough* made my day!!! (Also a question: what's ur second fave ship from hq!! after bokuroo?? )
MATSUHANA :O and thank you so so so so much for liking my stuff!!!!!!! I hope you’re having a great day today too, anon!!!
Anon said:I love you Fran, but I completely disagree with what you told the last anon about the idea behind bnha. You had me with the positivity concept, and I would also love it if eri could fix mirio and nighteye, but the rest of that was just so far off to me; and probably for many other fans in this community. Like, first, a story does not have to be the level of snk or dgray man to have bad things happen. That is how all story telling has been since the beginning of time.
A good narrative story is never straight sunshine and happiness throughout, even if it doesn't involve death. People don't just enjoy the bad things that happen in a story because it's realistic or because it's sad, they enjoy it because that is how a story and it's characters grow. They make mistakes and learn from them; these moments help the characters change and pushes them forward through every new obstacle.
It helps drive them and gives their stories/actions/ideals meaning and gives the audience a reason to care. And that is where I wonder if we are even reading the same story, because this concept is shown throughout the entirety of bnha. It is no where near the "positive-to-a-naive-point" you seem to believe it is. The story starts off with a weak, defenseless deku being beaten by his once best friend?
Like, I really don't want to sound condescending, but I don't understand how you could come to this conclusion. Bakugou has an inferiority complex from hell and suffers constantly from his own inner turmoil, todoroki has an an abusive father with a horrid childhood, iida's brother/idol was paralyzed and almost killed, shigaraki unknowingly killed his parents as a child, toshinori may still be alive, but all might (the hero) is gone to the world forever,
eri was used and experimented on HER ENTIRE LIFE, believing she was a disease to the world and could only cause suffering. I could go on for pages about the suffering these characters have ALREADY gone through- but that is okay, because the story is better for it. Because we as an audience wouldn't have cared nearly as much for deku's gain of one-for-all, if it wasn't for the trials and turmoil he faced his whole life living as a quirkless child;
Bnha is a positive story, but it does not rely solely on positivity to get by. It is a story about determination; to push back against adversity, to go on even in the face of the unknown or impossible; even if fate itself is against you. It's about climbing your mountains and beyond that, dare I say, beyond plus ultra. It's is not trying to adhere to its genre, it's is trying to be everything the genre could be and more, and as succeeded thus far.
Which is why I can understand the disappointment from the last anon, because solving everything through friendship and "hand holding" has become a norm in this genre specifically- and bnha is anything but quick and easy ways out.
Sorry if this is long, and I really hope you don't take this as an attack against you or your opinion. If that is all bnha is to you, and if that is how you perceive the show, who am I to say you are wrong. But I hope you understand what I have said at least, because you still are a huge inspiration to me as an artist and in this community. Hope the rest of your day goes alright.
Alright, first off, if you don’t want to come off as condescending try and maybe don’t be condescending. I’m nearly sure you didn’t do this consciously, considering how you ended the rant, but going “are we even reading the same story” when you supposedly want a civil exchange of opinions is the worst thing you could do ever. You pretty much said “I don’t wanna disregard your opinion but here is a list of reason why you’re wrong and I’m right”, please next time you mean to keep it civil try and avoid that, because that sounds just as bad as you’d assume.
Second, I thank you for the recap of all the tragic backstories bnha gave us, but my answer was about conclusions to arcs, not beginnings. I literally never once said that bnha is a happy-go-lucky story from start to end, I only said it made an habit of reaching for the best possible conclusion it could ever go for by the end of every arc up until now.
“The story starts off with a weak, defenseless deku being beaten by his once best friend”, sure (aside from the “once best friend”, Deku and Bakugou were never friends to begin with, please do reread the second Kacchan vs Deku for Bakugou’s view on their relationship) that’s how the story starts, and it ends with Deku with the strongest quirk on the planet, mentored by his childhood hero, with a civil and friendly rivalry with his childhood bully, on his way to become the number one hero, happy and loved and respected. “”Bakugou has an inferiority complex from hell and suffers constantly from his own inner turmoil” again, sure, and he could have given in to it and become a villain or let his terrible personality just become worse and worse, every single bad thing happened to him could have made him closer to a bad guy or given him good reasons to go against the heroes, and instead he’s working to become better, is loved and cherished, has friends that will build him up and care for him and risk their lives for him, and is actually in a way healthier place than he was in the beginning. “Todoroki has an an abusive father with a horrid childhood” SURE and now he’s got his mother back, he’s learnt to be the bigger person and put distance between himself and his father to instead use him to reach his own goals, is happy and has friends and, again, he’s supported and loved and is in a way happier place than he was in the beginning. “Toshinori may still be alive, but all might (the hero) is gone to the world forever” yes, and in any other manga the reveal would have brought a whole damn lot of drama and people calling him a fraud and turning against him, but instead that scene is the most heartwarming one in the whole manga, the whole world supporting and loving him and yelling his name to cheer him on
I could go on, but I think I made it pretty clear? Every single arc, be it a character arc or a story arc, starts tragic to end up with the most positive outcome you can have for it. There isn’t one arc that has had a tragic conclusion yet. So is it really that weird for me to think it’s believable and not surprising at all that Eri’s story, for however tragic it might have started as, could also have a happy ending? That this manga never tried to present itself as one in which things can and will turn out for the worse?
I’m not even sure exactly what your incredibly long ask was about, man. What were you trying to prove to me? Which part of the answer I gave were you trying to disprove? You just went on about how sad everyone was at the beginning of the manga as if that proved somehow that Horikoshi isn’t actively working to give everyone the happiest future they could have.
A recap of my answer is: “I personally don’t mind Eri having a fix-it quirk because it fits well in Nighteye’s plot and falls perfectly in line with how every other arc has turned out for the best up until now”
And you came at me with an eight asks long rant that can be summed up in “you’re wrong because people in the beginning of the story were sad”
Listen. I’m always open to conversations about different opinions and takes on a story. But, again, I’m gonna need you to be polite about it and open to an equal exchange. Simply going at the end “I hope you won’t feel attacked” and “have a nice day” isn’t enough if for the rest of the rant you talked to me as if you were assuming I’m an idiot. And I’m actually gonna need you to properly read my answers before trying to follow up with them, next time. Please. I don’t have the time to rephrase my answers sixty times just because people keep answering without actually reading them.
