#sally speaks #you caroline kepnes #you book #you lifetime #you netflix #joe goldberg #the book is so complicated and messy and i love it okay #joe goldberg is a piece of shit but that's the point #it's like how with lolita you find yourself being charmed by this actual monster #you fall into the narrative of mindset of the main character and by the end you're rooting for them and you realize that and are horrified #and that's the whole point #you're supposed to be shocked and horrified with yourself for rooting for the villain of the story just because that's your POV of the story #the tv show decided to say fuck that and made joe a romantic anti hero and i hate it here #then the second season basically tries to redeem him and I'm fucking furious #joe goldberg is a racist homophobic misogynist Nice Guy who thinks he's owed everything #he is not the hero!!! i hate it here!!! #and don't even get me started on how they ruined Love Quinn OO!!! #then caroline herself fell into that trap with the third book and I'm just so fucking disappointed #ma'am your main character is a horrible person stop trying to make him the good guy! #i hear the third and fourth season of the show were unhinged though so at least that’s something lol #anyways i really love the book because it makes me feel like shit and every now and then you just need something like that lmao #fuck joe goldberg he can rot and burn in hell
