They're basically catalysts for Afton's drive (discovering Remnant + his need for immorality). You're telling me he was ALREADY experimenting on this shit BEFORE their deaths. Somehow in a totally unrelated event prior to literally the entire series he just discovered what Remnant is and began his search for eternal life??

I've seen ppl say it's the MCI that was the trigger but NO??? Cuz that HAD to have happened AFTER charlie which goes back to my original question

no you're right b/c this is literally the way i think abt this too. theres no reason for him ta know remnant exists until someone dies or he kills someone. he cant be experimenting on his kids that early cuz 1) it just doesnt make sense and 2) WHY THE FUCK IS HE TRYING TA DISCOVER REMNANT AND LIVING FOREVER WITHOUT A CATALYST??????
