You raise some excellent points, esp. about the fallout of the 1-A boys and Aizawa ignoring Mineta’s behavior, like… Given their characterization it never made sense to me, so I always just kinda waved it away as bad writing, yanno? (I mean Hori’s made several, ahem, questionable decisions concerning his female characters and the way they’re portrayed/treated so that seemed plausible enough). Mineta’s there to be a little perv/comic relief (v. derogatory) which is why he is able to get away with so much. Were things more realistic he’d definitely have been booted from the school for harassment probably on the first day, if he even made it through the entrance exams.

But honestly I admire you for undertaking the Herculean task of making this tiny disaster boy palpable. Most would just write him off completely, but your deciding to give him the same grace as a more beloved character gives me the warm ‘n’ fuzzies, ngl lol.

((Also the thought of Deku leaving him on a skyscraper somewhere has me weak, send help—for me, not the grape lol))

I adore Horikoshi’s work, but like… yeah, he’s proven he can’t be trusted with his female characters LMAO. i’m gonna be honest though, i’ve been enjoying seeing how much Mineta cares for Deku, in the latest chapters??? I know the fandom had a meltdown over “bi-mineta”, but like…. idk, i thought that added another layer to Mineta beyond the poor comedic “relief” of him being a little shit, and i really appreciate that! at the same time, i can’t help but think — men only respect other men. LOL. and the way Mineta is currently written in canon sort of just… enforces that??? i mean, that’s not a version of Mineta i want to write (so i’m not gonna LOL) but it’s definitely in the back of my mind. if i thought i could get away with it, without losing people to the distaste, i’d like…. try to write him from that angle LMAOOO dsflkjsdklfjsdklfj because!!! BECAUSE,,, i find it interesting. I do. i also don’t think we need people to be perfect or good in fiction; i think we need them to be people, good and bad. and i happen to enjoy this kinda thing butttttttt…. i guess i’ll stay away from it, LOL, in my little silly superhero romance :’)))) besides, i do like the idea of a Mineta proving that he’s worthy of his friends. He’s capable of being worthy of them!!! probably. maybe??? yes. yes he is, because i say he is.
