winning all sides of the Pretentious Movie discourse by having my favorite movie be a 3 hour long foreign film with heavily political themes thats also a blockbuster superhero action movie

#superhero movie being a label that the director himself has chosen im not like. pushing it on them #avpost #anyway im glad the tides are turning and most people are talking about how bad the 'anti pretentious' angle has become. #'wahh people like movies *i* havent seen? they must be lying everyone only likes basic big budget american movies and nothing else!!!' #sorry. i just think that 'fun' isnt mutually exclusive with most things that would be listed in these Pretentious Movie stereotypes #you can find fun in the prestige dramas and the indie arthouse and the trashy b movies and even in the blockbusters #and you can find the fun in all of those categories even if theyre from another decade or another language. #but if youre the type of person who only wants one thing from movies well. idk do your thing #just stop getting angry at other people who like a wider variety. or who enjoy the more artistic discussion of movies.
