Happy 2nd anniversary to Cold War
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Two years ago, Cold War was released and was the episode that got me back to Call of Duty during that time, so I had to celebrate this with this render.
Hope you like them and happy birthday, Cold War.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
A week later
9th September 1984
It's been a week now since the last main operation has been done and since that day, I could feel better even if a part of me know that the threat was not over but another part of me was sure that it will not come back until a long time and to be honest, I don't know what to feel about this...maybe that I shouldn't think too much about this and try to focus ahead of me for the moment...to say that I'm getting at the end of this book...
I wrote so much...draw so much since I got my hands by this doctor...Doctor Krimilov, I was sad to learn of his death and I feel bad about this...it's thanks to that man that I could write down every memory that my head managed to catch over the last few months...and this book is having them noted on each page with details, some sketches of the place I could remember and the faces I saw...so much in this book and it's only a part of my life I could get back...I'll need more time...and I look forward to it...
Right now, on the 9th of September 1984, the situation in Verdansk has greatly improved and if some of Perseus' fanatical soldiers were still around the city, the skirmishes were less present, and more missions of helping the civilians were made. Sadly, we had to part ways with Viktoria a day after our operation, considering that her mission in the region was done and she left to an unknown location and gave us thanks before leaving...and since that day, we were back at the CIA's HQ...wondering what's going to happen next...
Damn...I'm getting right to the end of the book, I didn't think at all that the memories I could gather until were going to take over a single diary...maybe the drawing didn't help but I couldn't help myself. However, I'm sure that once we got back to England and maybe shortly, I'll start another diary for my memories and this time, I think that it will be more clear...let's hope so...this is the end...time to close a chapter...
"Hey," One tap with the pen over the very last word of the diary from me before I could hear a voice in front of me as I'm laid against one of the nearest trees of the headquarter tent. "Hey, Yirina, head up," The voice adds, prompting me to do as it said and discover Sims, leaning towards me. "Were you sleepy while trying to write down?" He asks with his hands on his waist.
"If I slept during writing something, I'm not sure it will be good to look at," I scoff with a little laugh, checking that I didn't make a mistake before I close down the book. "I just finished that diary, no more space to write anything," I say, starting to get up before Sims moves his right hand at me, helping me to get up.
"Really? When did you start that by the way?" He demands once I was up on my feet.
"Back in March," I reply to him and his face shows signs of surprise before giving out a little laugh, the same one as me.
"Damn, you got busy," He laughs before he gives me a head gesture away, starting to follow him to surely go inside the headquarters tent. "Do you think that one day, I would have a chance to read it?"
"And see how I draw you?" I tell him, getting next to the entrance but he stops at my words, raising his right eyebrow to me.
"You draw me?" I nod.
"I did...but I don't remember well," I respond with the truth, unable to remind myself when I did draw him...maybe it was in the US...impossible to put my finger on it. "You know what? I'll tell you when you'll be able to read it, okay?" I propose as a deal and hopefully, for me, he accepts that, giving me a nod but keeping a curious face about the fact I draw him.
"Yeah, you better keep your promise," He warn me with a good tone in his voice before we finally enter the tent, nobody around except the two of us.
"And you? What about the flamethrower you promised me?" I remind him, of a thought that came back a day ago after passing next to the camp armory where an old flamethrower from the war was found and brought back here.
"Once I got to see that face you made," He pointed his finger at me with a grin on his face while walking to the other side of the table before he stops in front of me, putting his hands on the table to look with me over the map. "Anyway, you told me earlier before you went writing to give you a little update for you & Park and...where is she by the way?" He asks me.
"She said she needed a moment alone so it's better to let her, I can tell everything," I reply, Park, telling me earlier that she wanted to get her head clear in a spot away from the camp that only me & her use to go. "So, what's the deal?" I gesture with my head to the map.
"Well, as you maybe heard from me today, Hudson took Mason, Woods & Adler to the city, you know, with those mysterious bunkers some of our teams found," Sims starts, moving his right index over a location in the downtown district of the city. "It said to be belonging to the Germans back from the war and the explosions kinda exposed some of them so, we're going to investigate them,"
"And the Russians?" I demand, not having heard anything from the KGB since yesterday.
"The KGB's pulling out, they've done here and thankfully, our mole inside will close the eyes of our presence here, we're free," Sims assumes, making a circle towards the old location where the KGB was located before, now empty. "I also heard that you, Park & your friends leave in 2 days right?"
"We leave tomorrow in the evening, Park wanted us to be back to London and give a full report of the situation," I explain myself on that situation, remembering my relieved face when I learned of our departure to get back home in my head. "After that, I don't know what will happen but we either stay on duty and are given a new mission or have some vacations...I don't care as long as we're away from here," I add before raising my head at him. "You?" Sims looks a bit sad on his face to learn that we leave but he wasn't going to show it completely.
"I'm leaving once we got to know what those Germans bunkers are holding, I'm gonna let Hudson take the commands once he's back, I can't hold being the boss around," He says with a breath, passing his left hand on his face and then, removing his cap to let his hand pass through his hair. "Well, I think it's good now," He sighs. "I think you want to see your friend, Zasha at the infirmary, I don't want to hold you enough, you know what to do, right?"
"Yeap, I'm going with Park in the night to one of the bunkers in the city near the port, got it," I nod at him, knowing well of the order before I got ready to leave the tent to see Zasha but then, Sims moves his hand forwards, looking for a shake.
"Thank you, Yirina," Sims mutters, a smile on his face and then, I got my right hand in front before shaking hands, also a smile on my face.
"Thank you, Sims," I repeat on my side during our shake, me letting out a breath and giving a finger salute to him before we broke the shake and then, starting to turn around to leave the tent and move away.
The ambiance of the camp was seeming so different now from the first moment we got in days ago. The camp was no longer seeing agitated with lots of soldiers & vehicles moving around, seeming calmer than before because the numbers of soldiers here were reduced, either moving to outposts around the city or able to leave and get back to their homes, and so on...it was going to be me, Park, Zasha & Portnova's turn to pack our bags & return home...
I arrived at the infirmary after a few moments of walking, it wasn't too far from the other tent, close to the one we were using to sleep and it was looking empty with the only exception of Zasha who was one of the few still in it, laying down on a bed with their right arm covered in a bandage and a brand new black eyepatch over their right eye...
"Hey, Zed," I wave my left hand towards them to announce myself as I was arriving near them who were looking in the other way
"Yirina!" They exclaim with happiness in their voice, having let them with Portnova for the day until now.
"Where's Portnova?" I ask, next to their bed as she's nowhere around them, an empty chair that is usually Portnova's spot when she's visiting Zasha.
"She left to get me a coffee,  she should be back in a minute," Zasha replied, giving a gesture towards the direction I just come from as I decides to sit down on the bed at their left, no one on it.
"Didn't you suppose to not have coffee before going back to London?" I let out a joke off me.
"Yirina, I'm not sick, I'm just...I have a wounded arm and an eye behind an eyepatch," They gave out a funny sigh from their mouth, rolling their eyes around. "But I'm doing good, the arm's doing okay but the eye is surely gonna take time," They add, pointing towards their eyepatch with their free hand. "I can't wait to get back home and see my little Beans back,"
"Me too," I smiled, missing the strokes I was giving to Beans now that her name was back into my mind before the smile I got slowly disappeared at the names coming into my mind. "Shit..."
"What?" Zasha says.
"I...about Dedov..." I whisper, passing my hand through my face about this...I remember that it was hard for Zasha to accept this fact but...Dedov who wasn't here despite the promise I made...it's sad. "I'm sorry," I apologize for that, feeling that this promise was broken.
"It's okay...I tried my best but...Dedov told me..." Zasha starts to say, cutting themselves to take a deep breath. "He told me that even if he doesn't trust me...he will try to keep in contact with us...he said he will find a way..."
"Yes, I know," I murmured at this, a revelation that Zasha declared to us two days ago but still...it was hard to admit that Dedov wasn't going to get back to us easily...but there's hope. "At least, he can come back," I admit, giving myself some hope.
"Yes," Zasha nods at me, a grin on their face and looking curious. "And...your friend...Lazar?"
"They...Uhm..." I scratch my head. "Sims told me yesterday that the CIA has to make checks about him and find a way to remove the brainwashing...it's complicated but it says it will take a long time before he goes back to normal," I resume, a bit happy on the side that Lazar was found but still affected by the brainwashing, hope still in for him. "It will be good, I hope,"
"He will don't worry...I can't wait to meet him once he will be okay," They declare about Lazar with a little smile and enthusiasm, something that I could give back.
"He's a nice guy...you should watch however about his hugs, they're nice but don't get used to it," I advises them with a laugh before I could hear behind me from a few meters, some footsteps and I turn around to see Portnova coming with a cup of coffee between her hands. "Hey, Portnova," I say with the same smile.
"Hey, good to see you there," Portnova smiled back at me, arriving next to us and passing in front of me to give Zasha their coffee. "As you asked, Zeze," She whispers as the two looks each other in the eyes during the exchange.
"Thank you, Yiri," Zasha thanks her, taking the coffee in their hands before Portnova moves to sit on her usual chair.
"So, what were the two talking about?" She demands from us.
"About the future," I speak up first, preferring to avoid the subject of Dedov with her. "We were talking about Beans," I claim at her, Zasha giving out a nod to approve of that.
"Oh nice," Portnova looked enthusiast at this, giving a glare between us. "You don't need to worry, it's a teacher friend of mine who's taking care of Beans so it will be okay, we'll have her back once we're back to London," She affirms, moving her hands on her lap as I & Zasha were looking at her. "Is the departure still for tomorrow?" She then drifts her eyes towards me.
"Yes," I nod, confirming this. "They'll give us a plane that will make a stop in Munich & then Brussels before arriving in London, the flight's tomorrow in the evening," I gave out in detail the plan of tomorrow, seeing on their face their relief of leaving that region for good...something that we all share now. "I need however to go on a small mission with Park tonight, an old bunker in the city, it should be fine,"
"Oh okay," Zasha says.
"Where is she? I didn't see her today," Portnova asks, turning her head around.
"Well...Uhm...she needs some time to think on her side...Uhm...I think that I should go and see, we didn't talk too much today," I expressed my concern while deciding to go up from the bed, looking to the tent entrance. "I'll leave you to talk...I need to check Park,"
"You'll come back later, Yirina?" Zasha demands in a worried voice.
"I will, Zasha, before we leave for the city," I respond, my eyes back on the two before giving out a small grin to them. "See you later...be positive," I advise with a small nod as I start to walk away from them out of the tent, seeing the two gettings closer while I was getting out before I was out of sight of them...leaving me to see Park.
I wasn't worried too much about Park as she was looking fine to me since our last operation but her moments of being alone were indeed getting more present over the past few days and she never told me why she was spending those moments alone in that spot I knew well along with her...I walked towards that spot by taking a small dirt path that was leading up to a cliffside overlooking the camp and walking through that path, at the beginning of the evening, a few hours before our mission was feeling a bit...weird for me in a good way.
Finally, after a short moment of thinking and walking on that path, I arrived at that spot and I found her...at the same spot she was always sitting on...sit on the ground, her back against a fallen tree, looking away at the horizon over the camp and the sea not far away from the site...she was looking to think in her head but something was telling me she was aware of my presence, soon confirmed by her left blue eye moving at me...a direct smile coming out as I was closing in towards her.
"You can sit down...I was waiting for you," She affirms, making a little tap at her left on the ground to make me sit.
"Thank you...love," I murmured, moving to the place she tapped to slowly sit, crossing my legs once I was on the ground and looking away at her same direction as her.... this view is indeed beautiful...a fresh air on my face skin... refreshing..."Refreshing, isn't it?"
"Yes, is it," Park says, soon feeling her arms wrapping themselves around myself my shoulders and then, her head on top of my right shoulder. "You know...I was thinking about us...how do you think we would have met if you...well...if no one of this happened?" She demands in a low & curious voice and this...I don't know what to answer here...
"I don't know...I don't see anything else..." I said, unable to give a proper response than that. "I don't even know if we would have met outside of anything that happened to me," I presume with a small shrug of my left shoulder while my right arm moved behind Park's back. "But I think that...we should focus on what the future will hold us now,"
"You sure?" Park whispers.
"Yes...why?" I ask.
"I...I still feel guilty about what happened, I know we...talked about this a lot but...I still have that pain," She declares with her voice that was still sounding guilty...and I needed to reassure her of one sure thing I knew.
"You don't deserve to be guilty...you were redeemed since the moment you forgive yourself...since we love each other," I admit again at her, proving my profound love of the woman whose arms are wrapped around me at the moment. "I believed in your redemption as the others did... the past is the past, things were done but it doesn't change the fact that I...love...you...you're the woman of my life and I need you," I breathed as I could see her right hand without her glove, one of its finger having the very ring of my mother around it..."You're a strong woman and I know that,"
"You too," She chuckled, feeling her hands in a better way around me as if she didn't want to lose me, something I could understand. "And...I believed in your redemption too...everything that happened from the moment you came back until now showed me that you're the person I needed the most," She tell me, and...honestly, to think about it...I think that she was truly right...for once, I could feel redeemed for good...the guilty of my past as a Perseus agent was removed..."I just need you to be there for me and...I need to be there for you,"
"I need you too," I says, moving my arms around her to affirm my words, closing my eyes for a few seconds before getting them back open, fully moved as we were both looking at the horizon. "I love you, Park,"
"I love you, Yiri," She affirms in her low voice before we look at each other, both eyes moved, and then, I softly pull her for a little kiss on the lips...feeling for the first time, real freedom...finally...a redemption...a kiss than soon ended by both us going back to look at the horizon...both of us thinking about the future, our friends, our opportunities and our redemptions we finally got...we finally got...
The Redemption of our spirits.

Well…after more than 181 chapters…the story of Yirina Grigoriev…is done…
I can't really believe that I did so much for Yirina…and I can't really believe too that the story came to an end after so long…more than a year after this story was launched as a reboot of an old CW story I did…a year…more than 620000 words…181 chapters. Honestly, I didn't think at all that I was going to make a story this long and that's what I did…
It's getting me very emotional that the story of my OC Bell is arriving at its end. A page of my writing story is closing down and a new one is opening…I learned so much from writing this story, meeting a lot & lot of new friends coming from the community…this story is & will always stay inside of my heart as the longest but as the one I put all of my heart into it…
I did this story to give to you all, Yirina Grigoriev and her love story with Helen Park who was for me, the second main character of this fic and the most important one alongside Yirina. Park is the COD character I appreciate the most in the franchise now and it was obliged from me to make Yirina go with her…their story is maybe done for the moment but maybe for the next Black Ops, their story will continue…but the future will tell us what's happening…
So…I already said this but it's sad & emotional for me to arrive at the end of this fic…not believing again that I finished after a year of work…a year and a lot of chapters…I wasn't believing it when I arrived at the 100th chapter and now…it just made me all happy and sad to get this story concluded after 181 chapters…
Now, it's time for me to….shit…to close this long story once & for all and move on to write new fan fictions in the future…Yirina Grigoriev's story came to an end but she will surely come back in the future too. For the moment, I wish you all a big, big thank you for having follow her story from the cliff of Solovetsky until that moment with Park in Verdansk…you're all amazing and your support means a lot for me…you're all the best people I met in years and I hope that our story will continue for a long time…
Thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you!

----------------------------------------------------------------------
22nd August, it's been now two days that I was back with the others in West Berlin, living at the worst place I never wanted to go back in my life, the 'Die Landebahn' safehouse, called 'E9' for the CIA. This wasn't the best feeling to walk inside those walls, knowing that this place changed me & everyone else to the bones but I somehow managed to keep my head clean & avoid making this place mess up with my head, hearing the voices of my past haunting me at some moments, I couldn't stop everything but I was managing stay calm, the others also doing the same.
Still, it was weird to see this place again, no longer like a prison in my head, remembering it when I escaped Verdansk with the others trying to save me from dying on a surgical bed. It was weird, everyone knew what happened here, even Katinka & Liliya but we were all trying to avoid talking about it to each other as if we wanted those events to never be mentioned again, all trying to focus on a lot of things not linked to the past of this place, everyone getting useful into what they were doing the best.
For the past two days, I was working a lot with Park on my domain: cryptography. It's been a while that I wasn't able to do what I'm good at and it felt good when I got to decrypt the first few transmissions we were intercepting thanks to Liliya & Katinka help, the two were tasked by Hudson to help us be faster in our process but also to get into town & get news from the other CIA safehouses, sometimes helped on their side by Lazar & Woods, both tasked to maintain our equipment on order and Woods was doing great...if we count the few times he was making fun of Hudson.
Today was like the two others days, trying to find out what Perseus is planning in West Berlin but we could only make a little progress to know what was going on, just knowing now that Kitsune, the Perseus agent was in town & ready to strike a CIA asset somewhere. We just needed to know what, why, how & when that was going to happen but there were something that was bothering me: Hudson promised me & Park to get the files of my parents died and we got nothing, this was something I was going to talk to him once he comes back after being away almost all day out.
Right now, I was just finished eating something quick after working on the last messages of the day before I decide to get some rest back at the dorm but also because Park went earlier to the dorm. I was opening the closed door of it before finding Park with her back turned against me, nothing on her top.
"Oh!" I gasped at her sight a bit loud for my thought before I move back, keeping the door handle around my left hand, leaving a bit of space inside.
"Who's there?" I could hear Park's worried voice, having heard the door almost shutting down and me, standing behind it.
"It's me," I announced myself, my voice sounding like a shy girl, I was even looking away back to the main room's direction to see if nobody was coming. "It's me, Park," I repeated, raising a bit my voice than before.
"Oh...you can come in," She proposed to me, sounding relieved that it was her love behind the door.
"You got a shirt on?" I asked her, blushing at seeing her naked back a few seconds ago, I was respecting her privacy even if we're together.
"Wait..." She said, letting seconds happen while I was staying at my position, waiting for her. "You can come in now," She told me, bringing me to open the door of the dorm. Park was standing next to her bed with a smile, having put a shirt on. "Hey, Yiri, you're alright?" She demanded.
"I'm good, all good," I affirmed, smiling back at her before my eyes got focused on what was on her bed, seeing a set of green camo military clothes disposed over it. "Are those to you?" I questioned her, pointing towards the clothes.
"Yeap," She replied with a nod.
"Really?" I moved up next to her bed, filled with my curiosity to get a closer look. The clothes were very looking to be military, mostly British and among those, there was a red beret between the big vest & a gun holster. "Yours?" I asked again.
"Yes, I managed to call London yesterday, to bring us some equipment, they decide to give me back one of my old gear and you can see it now," I remembered now that she got allowed to call London & get some new equipment for us but also for Lazar. "This was part of my training for the MI6, even used it back for a few of my missions," She added as I went to look at the vest & the beret together.
"Paratroopers?" I got curious, seeing the stitched badge with wings on the vest and the ensign on the beret.
"Part of the training, we got trained by one of the British Airborne division, they allowed us to keep the equipment," She told me and to say, that was giving me a little reason of why I was loving her so much, I still discover more of her before I see her taking the beret in her hands and put it on her head. "It's making me the feeling of fighting with the Red Devils,"
"You're very beautiful with it," I complimented her, the beret looking to add a nice touch to her, she was still looking lovely without it.
"You should see me with the whole set," She scoffed, removing her beret to get it back on the bed by gently posing it. "I'm going to wear it for the next mission, I'll surely give you one of my outfits for it," She proposed and I could give her a grin on this proposal.  "Maybe my brown leather jacket, I remember you loved that one," She said, me trying to remember that outfit she's talking and it took me a few seconds to get a clear image of it.
"This would be very nice, my dear," I declared, taking a strong British accent that was sounding more real than I thought before I decides to sit down behind me, just on my bed. "To change a bit, I didn't get anything interesting from the last messages," I announced, taking this time a serious voice. "They seem to be aware that we're listening to their transmissions,"  I thought, moving my hands over my lap, Park still standing on her side of her bed.
"Do you think that they might cancel their ops?" She asked me.
"No," I shook my head. "If that Kitsune got every safehouse unsure in the city, they likely want to be sure that nothing will get to oppose them for their operation," I explained my few fears on this, thinking that what Perseus has planned here, it can help them a lot. "A CIA asset in their sight, a hacker hired by Perseus, Stitch in control...something isn't right,"
"Me too," Park muttered, going to sit on the side, her left hand on her lap, the other over the military vest.
"There's also that Hudson didn't give us the file like he promised since we got here," I added at this, my eyes moving away to the door when I start to hear some loud voices coming through the door. "Speaking of the devil..." I murmured, already thinking that Hudson was back from his trip out of the safehouse. "I might going to see him now, you're coming?" I proposed to her, already getting up from the bed.
"You can go now, I'll join you, I just need to get myself dress properly for the remaining of the day," She replied, leaning herself towards the side of her bed to grab something that was on the ground: her bag.
"Okay...see you in a minute then," I told her, having approached her before moving to kiss her on the top of her head. Her reaction was to blush & smile at me as I went away from her, ready to see Hudson.
Now that Hudson was back here at what I could hear from here, my only thoughts at the moment were to know why the file he promised us is not coming to our desk and that I can discover the full extents & thoughts about what happened this day, why the CIA did this to my parents & the reasons that this detail was kept in the dark for so long. I just want the truth but I can't know it because some people are trying to hide the truth from me, seeming to make me look at their version of the truth instead...
Hudson's own words...and I'm thinking about them, using them in my thoughts. It wasn't good to acknowledge that at the moment. I just want the damn truth, not his truth, not the CIA's truth, the real truth of that day and he's going to give me that file...to me & Park. As I arrived in the main room, Lazar & Woods talking on their side at where was Park's old desk, now their workspace while Liliya & Katinka were out in the town, Hudson was at his desk, having his jacket removed to reveal his white shirt & black tie, his usual attire.
"Hudson," I spoke up, arriving at his sight near his desk, my voice showing directly that it wasn't going to be a fun discussion.
"Not now, Grigoriev, I need to..."
"There's no time to discuss with you or what?" I cut him straight, avoiding him to finish and get me away, even putting the palms of my hands on his desk. "We need to talk and you know that," I affirmed.
"What about?" He asked me, curious.
"I don't know...maybe the file about my parents," I reminded him, seeing quickly Lazar & Woods having their gaze turned at me, checking them for a second before moving back on Hudson. "Where is it?" I demanded, now clenching my fists on his desk.
"Listen," He started, moving his hands towards me, gesturing to me to calm down.
"I'm all ears, tell me why you can't keep your promise," I told him in a sure voice as I saw Park arriving back in the main room, fully dressed casually, already moving towards us. "And you might not give us false hopes, we don't like that,"
"What's happening?" Woods asked loudly.
"Hudson not keeping his promises," Park responded, coming next to me as she crosses her arms at Hudson over her chest and it was some words that got Lazar & Woods to get interested by coming at us too.
"You're not involved, you two," Hudson protested at the two coming near us, sending like a warning.
"If you can't keep your promises, you know well that we come, remember?" Woods said, raising an eyebrow at Hudson who was now facing me, Park, Lazar & Woods all standing up as he was the one sitting on his chair. "So, tell them what they want to know," He ordered, causing me to look at Park as I wasn't sure about making the two learn about what was at stake here.
"It's okay," She whispered silently to me and I quickly nodded.
"Okay, okay!" Hudson raised his voice, seeming alone against the four of us as he removes his sunglasses for a short moment to pass his hands through his face. "Black changed his mind about the file,"
"He changed his mind?" I repeated.
"Yes, he said that giving away the file to foreign hands could end badly, he fears that you might turn your back on all of us," He revealed...so, Black is an asshole...he's willing to give the file and then, he doesn't...fucking asshole.
"And like that, you're letting this happen?" Park demanded.
"No, I'm trying to get him to change his mind about this, telling him that Grigoriev is on our side since the beginning, he won't listen." He protested, sounding sure of his thoughts...either trying to save himself or say the truth...I can't tell. "It's my words against the one of the president!"
"Reagan?" Lazar narrowed his eyes at this, confused about this. "What is president Reagan doing here?"
"Black's orders are Reagan orders: he's still thinking that you're in our control, that you can't be let out of control," Hudson explained, giving me a sight on the American president...very nice to know that the president is like Black. "Because of this, I can't do a thing to get the file here,"
"So, you're saying that the CIA can topple governments, supply rebels against the Russians & support the West agencies but they can't handle to give a file to someone?" Woods wasn't believing that story of Hudson, briefly resuming the CIA's doings all over the world, good to have him speak out my thoughts sometimes with the others. "Come on, you're better than this," He sighed, making a front wave with his right hand towards Hudson.
"For Black, giving that file is the only way to keep her under control," Hudson argued.
"So, you still see her as Bell, Hudson?" Lazar moved in, giving a not-happy look to his face. "She went through hell, got back to you for months, got along with everyone and it's not enough to convince that she's one of yours?"
"I didn't say anything like this, Azoulay," Hudson told him, pointing his finger at Lazar with a half-angered look. "You're maybe taking me as an asshole for not telling the truth..."
"Yeah, because you want people to see the things in your way, see them your version of the truth, remember?" Woods stopped him this time, seeming to talk about something that happened between the two before.
"There's only the truth you want to believe in," Hudson completed, looking at Woods before going up from his chair to get at the same level as us and then, look at me. "I want her to know the truth but I still consider the risks of doing so,"
"Hudson, what does she need to do to make you sure that she's with us? She's been toppling Perseus ops faster than all of us did combine in three years!" Park stepped in, taking my defense...it was true that since I came back, Perseus' operations got dismantled faster. "The MI6 & I give her the chance to do what's good, she's with me and you know that," She added, almost having a broken feeling in her voice to do this.
"I know...I'm trying my best to get it to happen but I'm blocked," Hudson repeated, putting his hands on his waist. "Right now, I need you all on this case of finding out what's Perseus planning in the city,' He reminded us, putting his sunglasses back on as Lazar & Woods was looking to have heard enough from him and started to go away. "Grigoriev, I think you should check your desk for new messages, I got a call from Teufelsberg telling me that they discovered a sudden rise in weird communications," He told me, pointing towards my desk but then, as I went to look at it, I saw Lazar stopping in the middle of the room, Woods continuing on his walk.
"Wait..." Lazar turned his head a bit around before he looked at us. "What did you say, Hudson?"
"What's happening, Laz'?" Park demanded, worried as everyone was looking at Lazar, standing in the middle of the room, his eyes looking down.
"The place, what do you call it?" Lazar asked Hudson, slowly raising his hands near his head.
"Teufelsberg," Hudson replied to the question, causing Lazar to move his hands on his head, everyone worried & confused about his actions as for me & Park, it was seeming like Lazar was knowing something.
"I...I heard this word from...Perseus agents back in the gulag...Taking down the satellites and then...move on to Teufelsberg..." He murmured, seeming to remember something important from his time in gulags. "I heard Stitch & Kitsune talked once...the broadcast is free to be diffused...move to West Berlin and get ready," He completed, suddenly realizing the whole goal of Perseus in the city...using a CIA listening station to diffuse a broadcast...
"Teufelsberg is our most important listening station in Western Europe...we can't afford to lose it to Perseus..." Hudson revealed, giving the importance of this place to us.
"So, if you lose this place, the CIA got their eyes shut," I suggested, Hudson, giving directly a nod at this.
"And Perseus can use it to spy on every organization, this place is a gold mine for them...MI6, BND, DGSE, no one is spared,"
"Bloody hell!" I muttered, saying the same thing as Park at the same time.
"Fuck us..." Woods complained.
"Dammit!" Hudson growled before he turns his head on us, looking sure of himself and ready to get the work done behind his sunglasses. "Everyone, get ready to be prepared, I'm making calls for you to support," He ordered and to this, we could only nod back at him to comply...we just discovered the true goal of Perseus here in the city...
And we weren't going to let that happen...they won't succeed, we will...

----------------------------------------------------------------------
America...damn it, the last time I got my foot in what we call "The American Dream", it was months ago and still today, I could remember the events that occurred...the New Orleans where the wounds were still present on my skin above my heart, less visible but still here, fucking Duvall...I can't believe that I didn't forget this name in the bayou as the Americans say, should do. The other event was that fight in that New Jersey mall where Adler got his ass kidnapped, I discovered about my mother's ring by Freya...shit...when I thought that I'll not see America for a while, I was kinda wrong now...I can thank Hudson for enduring this to me & Park...and now to Portnova...Zasha got kidnapped and me...I had to let her come with us.
I had to call her back, giving her everything we know at the moment and where we were going to be moved, the responses weren't too pleasant for her to get but knowing the situation, she agreed on this term of joining me, Park & probably Hudson as Woods mentioned to me after the revelations to Langley while Woods has to fly all over the US to get to Alaska...and get Mason as Hudson ordered...he knows what needs to be done, I hope so. We'll see what's going to happen but now, it was time to leave this hell of a place they call a safe house and never see it again, not wanting to see West-Berlin for a long time now...place got me back so many memories, I prefer to avoid them...bad memories...
We left West-Berlin the next day after a long & peaceful sleeping at the first hour in the morning and as I thought, it was me, Park & Hudson. Woods was taking a different plane than us to reach Alaska while Liliya & Katinka were reassigned to Verdansk, it was a bit hard to make my farewell to Kat when we had to leave but I'm sure that she will be okay, she got Liliya to look at her and in the future, I hope that Lazar can be here for her...I hope.
The plane took the direction of London as we had to take Portnova with us, Park having arranged for Portnova to be fully prepared by the MI6 and she was very happy to see us when we landed in London, a long hug to me & Park and then, she boarded the plane with us, going now straight over the Atlantic to get to Langley, the very place the CIA's HQ is. However, the silence in the plane during the flight between West-Berlin & London was way more silent during the second part...Portnova wasn't very pleased with Hudson's presence, resulting in this... understandable from her.
That weird long annoying moment went to an end after more than 8 hours at the end of the afternoon...8 hours where I didn't speak a word at all like Park & even Hudson did the same, not saying anything about our presence in the US as we landed at the Dulles international airport. Once we got our bags and left this private plane, we directed ourselves to a black car that was requested by Hudson, and then, after putting our bags in the trunk, we installed ourselves in the car, me taking the big risk by sitting in the front passenger seat with Hudson driving...the drive is short as I heard...hope that someone will talk...no one?...
"So..." I finally spoke up my first word in literally 8 hours since we left London, right at the moment Hudson was driving us out of the airport. "Do you mind telling us the truth?" I asked Hudson, whose eyes behind his sunglasses went to give me a little look for a second.
"I thought Woods already told you everything," He said to me in his usual voice.
"Well, I know you well, Hudson," I told him back, always something that Hudson can 'forget' to tell.
"What does this mean?" He demanded, keeping his eyes on the road this time, me peaking up my eyes at the rear mirror to see Park & Portnova looking at us.
"Seriously, Hudson?" I rolled my eyes at this. "You told us that Black was going to give up the file and send it to us and now..." I smacked my lips, shaking my head as my gaze fell outside at the rain falling on the car. "Here we are, why has everything changed now?"
"It's normal to you, Jason Hudson?" Portnova joined in behind me, feeling her getting closer to my seats. "Your name wasn't unknown to those working in the KGB when I was still in," She revealed, Hudson's gaze unchanged by this.
"Really?" Park stepped in too.
"Oh yes, sure that Belikov can tell me about this clearly if I was given his number," Portnova replied and I was analyzing Hudson's face at those words: his eyes went a bit wide but not as far as I thought it will, the other parts were mainly unchanged. "Isn't this right, Jason? Belikov was your mole?" She questioned him, almost having her head between him & my seat.
"He still is, miss Portnova," Hudson responded, slightly moving his right-hand fingers over the steering wheel. "I didn't know that you were pretty aware of the CIA's doings in the KGB and still is...I thought the KGB gave you a burned notice," He reminded...something I wasn't remembering well...I think it's something to design a traitor or someone no longer usable for service..don't remember.
"Well, seems that a few people gave me out in Perseus, I think that having to blow up my car to believe in my death wasn't enough," She admitted, making me remember that day when we had to infiltrate ourselves back into the Lubyanka...glad to know that this day, they didn't recognize us...sure that's not the case anymore. "But thanks to reminding me that my own country now sees me as a traitor, Jason," She told him, talking to him with his first name...she was right about her point on him being very known by the KGB
"A piece of advice, miss Portnova: it's Hudson for you," He warned her, his right eye looking over the rear mirror.
"As you wish, Jason," Instead of Portnova, I was surprised to hear Park saying this to him, it almost make me burst into a laugh but I kept my seriousness with the situation, just giving out a smirk on the side. "So, you didn't answer her question, why are we here instead of somewhere else?"
"Well, if we excuse your sense of humor, Park, Black trust you but doesn't trust you," Hudson answered my question...well, I don't know if we can call it an answer.
"Can you translate that from bullshit to English?" I demanded to him, my right index finger gesturing to this.
"He will give you the file in the next few days but he doesn't want it to fly over the Atlantic to get it to fall in enemy hands with the recent events," Hudson explained the reason for this change of heart from Black, having translated it perfectly.
"Did he think of it as an opportunity to meet me?" I supposed but he shook his head.
"No...he will not meet anyone of you at all," He declared, letting out a sigh, trying to stay focused on the road. "Black is someone who likes to keep his identity secret, says that it's not his real name, only know to the president,"
"Sure that you don't want us to walk to the White House to ask politely in your president's face?" Portnova suggested in a small funny tone in her voice about this, Hudson shaking his head at this with a sigh. "Nevermind, I'm sure that we will be kept under watch during our stay here, I presume,"
"Exactly," Hudson affirmed.
"Nice," I directly followed with a murmured, not enthusiastic at all.
"The details of it will be discussed later tonight, we will let you three install yourself in an apartment not far from the CIA's HQ," He told us with a little gesture of his right hand off the steering wheel as his eyes were looking on the left side. "Here we are," He announced as he went to turn the car and enter a parking lot, located next to a little building...looking like a motel. "This is where you will be living until Adler has been brought here," He said, stopping the car on a parking place right in front of some outside stairs
"Guess that's an undetermined time?" I guessed right but no answer came out from Hudson as he was already taking out his seatbelt and went to open his door, getting out of the car...taking it as a yes then...nice...our days in the US are beginning very cool...
It's with another sigh from me that I unbuckled my seatbelt and got out of the car with Park & Portnova, taking a look over this building that was becoming our place of living, for the time being, guess that's much better from that hell of a safe house of West-Berlin...I don't know that yet but for the moment, I was glad to think that we weren't in that place anymore, hope that this place can be much more comfortable than a freaking dorm, not too many high hopes but still hopes...
Getting out of the car was like a bowl of fresh air even if it was for a few minutes because of being with Hudson and after that, we got our bags out of the trunk and starts to follow Hudson up the same stairs he parked the car in front of it, me behind him as Park & Portnova were behind me until we arrived in front of an apartment door, Hudson getting in front of it to unlock it and a second later, he widely opened the door and entered first without letting us discover first this place.
Well, as I thought, I didn't have too many hopes for this place but it was still very cozy and almost looking like the MI6 safehouse in Kyiv...much more Americanized. A living room separated from the kitchen by a counter, apart with a couch, two seats & a TV, a small bathroom and the little silent visit of the place finished by the bedroom, a room with three single beds disposed of around...didn't expect too much coming from the CIA...
"I hope that you will be well here and even if you don't, don't start to complain," Hudson warned us as we were posing our bags next to the bags that me, Park & Portnova have chosen.
"We will give you a review letter when we will be done here," Portnova joked, moving to sit on the right side of her bed, crossing her legs.
"Hmm.." Hudson rolled his eyes.
"When will we be starting?" Park demanded, staying up at her bed as I was doing like Portnova.
"For the moment, we have to wait that Verdansk's mission finds Adler and get him right here and that Woods managed to convince Mason to help us for this," Hudson replied, not giving out an exact determined time of how much we will be staying here...Am I thinking of already living? "I'll be trying to get the file you want in your reach as soon as I can, I'm getting the help of a friend of another department in the CIA,"
"Guess that his identity is also secret too?" I said.
"No, but for the moment, I'll let you three get your peace until I come back to reach you about the orders," He affirmed, moving back next to the door leading outside the room. "I'm leaving the keys over the closet near the front door, you do what you have to do," He added before he decides to leave out without any signs of politeness, hearing his footsteps through the wall and then, the sounds of a door opening and getting closed...thank you too, Hudson...
"Didn't know that he was very like that," Portnova told us, gesturing at the door with her head. "Is this dumbass always been like this?" She asked, her Russian accent getting a bit more audible than before.
"You didn't have to work with him before, you will be used to it," Park affirmed to her as she was moving outside the room, me nodding at Portnova meaning that what Park just said was true...I didn't spend three years working with Hudson but it's like I was knowing Hudson for a while thanks to Park.
"That's the way he says goodbye...welcome to Langley, I guess," I shrugged with a small smile on my face, causing Portnova to slightly smile too before I decides to lay down over my bed, hands behind my head. "You're alright?" I demanded in a low voice.
"Yes...I believe..." Portnova replied to me as I got my head up a bit to look at her. "I try to be...you know...thinking positivity but with Zasha...I'm not sure that nothing is really funny to me," She confessed, scratching below her chin before her right hand starts to remove the black leather jacket off her. "I didn't sleep last night, to be honest...Beans were sad that Zasha wasn't at home,"
"I'm sorry to hear this, Portnova," I chuckled.
"It's okay...you couldn't know," She said, removing the last part of her jacket off her, revealing her sleeveless white shirt. "It was a bit hard for Zasha when you & Park left last month to Algeria,"
"Same," I confirmed this, the first nights after we left London at that time was a bit troubled about being away from home. "I still got this promise of bringing Dedov home...and now...I need to get Zasha back...again," I added, and a second later, Park stepped back inside the room, her face looking to have heard the few words of what I said but giving out a small smile as she went to sit on her bed.
"Well, we're going to be in peace here until next day...I'll be preparing dinner in an hour, is that work for you?" Park demanded and a little nod came out from me & Portnova. "Uhm...were you both talking about...Zasha?"
"Da," Portnova snorted, replying in Russian as she was moving her back against the bed. "I miss them a lot and...I think it's a pain we all share, right?" She guessed right on this, we all missed something...someone here...
"It's hard to believe that...me & Yiri...we were connected more than we originally thought..." Park spoke up, talking about...us...her voice was low, a grin given to me. "I miss my brother sometimes but...I think that Yiri is the person that I missed a lot...during those three years," She added, soon replicating me & Portnova on her bed...she was getting emotional...
"You don't have to talk about it, Park, I'm here," I assured her, moving on my left side to look at her since her bed was at my left, Portnova was in front.
"Thanks, love," Park thanked me, still with her grin on her lips as Portnova was looking at us, a smile too.
"I'm glad, Yirina...I'm glad to be your friend," She declared to me in a meaningful voice and to this, I know that it was the same for me about her. "You were with me since I entered the KGB, you were...a true comrade,"
"Thank you, Portnova," I said, my hands getting over my chest, thinking in my head.
"ты скучаешь по старым добрым временам [You miss the good old days?]" Portnova then asked me in Russian, her accent showing up highly in here...we can't forget where do we come from...
"Nyet...Были ли у нас тогда хорошие дни, кроме как с Зашей и Дедовым? [No...Did we have good days then, except with Zasha and Dedov?]" I asked her back, also in a Russian who was sounding different with a half-English, half-Russian accent now. "Now is time to think about the future, don't you?" I then switched back to English.
"Yes, we do," Portnova agreed on this, also speaking back in English as the three of us were now looking in a different direction, Park & Portnova were looking over the ceiling before the former decided to move her gaze at me, who was already looking at her, our smile still on our faces as long as we were exchanging the look of our eyes...
Yes...I think that we need to think about the future...I'm writing mine with Park...

----------------------------------------------------------------------
I thought the whole world was going to crush me now, right after I discovered the first lines of the file that Perseus handed over to me...it's exactly what I was believing at this day that was changing...just this could have been put back into question the very senses of my fight against Perseus and it was doing it, shaking the foundations of what I am now. I couldn't know if this file was speaking the truth but since we saw him like this, I'm sure that he wasn't willing to keep a secret to himself...even if the truth he holds wasn't the one I wanted to think about once...
For all this time, I blamed Perseus for my parents' death in 1956 and I knew it when I got this memory of me & Zasha visiting this village years later but the file...the file was saying something different: it was the CIA that killed my parents...ordered by the young CIA officer Emerson Black at this time...this name, I heard it a few times before, he was the guy in charge of supervising the missions three years ago and seeing it on that file...it was giving enough hatred against the CIA...they changed my life two times...two worst fucking times...
Honestly now, I could storm out of here and never go back, I was very angry and I was trying to hold it inside of me but it was hard to hide to Park & Perseus who immediately saw that there was a huge problem at my eyes. Perseus was however looking normal & rather apologizing to make me look at this as Park was directly up to reach me at my side, wanting to take a look at the file and if I wanted to throw the file away, I instead give it to Park before turning my back around, hands around my waist and trying above all to stay calm at my best.
"All these years...these months...I thought it was you!" I mumbled, looking down at my feet but my voice was directed to Perseus. "It was clear but now, everything I believed is hurt," I added, opening my right eye and getting my head slightly up.
"I'm sorry, Yirina," Perseus could only say this to me...only this...
"Bloody hell!" Park's voice was exactly giving away my thoughts...shock...incomprehension...
"Yirina, listen to me," Perseus pleaded as I was keeping my back turned against him & Park.
"Did I know?" I asked him a simple question but one who was hurting me to know, even my chest wasn't ready to endure the response.
"Fuck...Jirina...I'm..."
"DID I KNOW?" I repeated myself, inadvertently cutting Park with my anger while turning around to look at Perseus with a deadly glare.
"You knew," Perseus admitted at my greatest fears...the CIA...everything was going back to them, they're the one that put me here...the fuckers. My body was surely going to leave me at hearing this but I was staying up, still shocked as Park...I could see her looking at this file...her face was saying it all.
"My father was against you, why did the CIA kill him?" I demanded at him.
"It's true...it...it doesn't make any sense at all," Park thought, looking up to see Perseus who moved his hand with his tissue to cough. "Why did the CIA kill Yirina's parents?" She asked him too, throwing the file on the little table between the two couches.
"Partially...partially," Perseus muttered as he slowly moved to reach back his couch, repeating himself after another cough, louder than the first ones.
"What do you mean, partially?" I questioned, getting next to the table exactly where the file was, keeping a not-happy face...I needed more answers.
"The CIA killed your parents...but we were the one to make them do this...without thinking about it," He revealed, me & Park going to look at each other with incomprehension as Perseus sit back on his couch before laying down on it. "I played a part in your parent's death...but we never lay a hand on them,"
"Can I believe you?" I asked him and he shook his head after sneezing a little with another tissue.
"You can't...it's only my words...you can trust me...or can't," He replied after he was done, moving his eyes back at me and with his right hand, he gestured with his fingers to sit down again, maybe to make me calm and I complied first for my own sake. "I won't be lying anymore, my life was filled with lies," He added, Park, going to sit too.
"Tell us," Park demanded in a half-polite voice, she was clearly like me here...fuck...her was the only thing that can't change here...she wanted to know more like me.
"Yirina's father...was a good man, I recognize that...a strong opponent," He started, me joining my hands together to not make me do a mistake here...stay calm, Yiri, everything's fine. "At this time, he was investigating on us, and...we weren't for the brutal force," He said, his eyes drifting to look mostly at me. "We tried to persuade him to leave peacefully, no harm but he never wanted to leave, his family was too important for him,"
"He never wanted to let us..." I muttered, trying to remember the only memory I have recovered as a child...only one...why just one? "Damn it..."
"What?" Park whispered, seeing me turning my head a little.
"I don't even remember my mother's name as if she was a stranger to me," I responded to her, I know a lot about my father but my mom, I don't know who she was...and what's her name...my duty to recover my memories is a mess...a damn mess. "You know it, right?" I presumed, looking back to Perseus who nodded at me.
"Tanya...Tanya Grigorieva..." He revealed to me and at this, my brain was starting to process to search for that name...I hope that I can have a memory of her soon. "Her & your father met during the war...at the end of it," He explained as his voice was taking a very calm & positive tone to me. "I know that...I know that because...I couldn't forget them," He said, coughing again more this time.
"You couldn't," I mumbled.
"Because I took the responsibility to raise their child," He told me, having heard me talk silently. "This was to repair my mistake of having to lead the CIA to this," He declared, finding out that he raised me to fix the mistake of having my parents killed...guilt..."Your father insisted and at this time, we, Perseus, made a reunion of what to do...we decided to make him a traitor to the eyes of his organization...my idea," He exclaimed and this...it was giving my father the worst humiliation of being seen as a traitor...
"You monster," Park muttered next to me, a voice lower than Perseus wasn't seeming to hear it.
"We created proofs that your father was going to defect and we thought that the MI6 would get him back...we didn't think at one second that the CIA would take the case and do this," Perseus affirmed to me, admitting his guilt into my parent's deaths but sad about how things turned out. "When we heard that the CIA crossed the line, we moved in to secure the village but we got too late to save anyone...you were the only survivor of your village," He declared and at this moment, I could hear myself cry for help...child's cries echoing in my head...
"And you found her," Park presumed, Perseus nodding at it.
"When I realized that she was still alive, I decided to take her with me, to try to give her a chance to live a normal life," He told us and one simple word wasn't taken well by me...one...
"Normal?...a normal life...you have words, you don't realize how much they mean," I exclaimed, pointing my index finger at him. "Nothing I lived was normal, you forced me into this path...and I can't go back," I was thinking that my anger was going to take the control of me when I almost got up again from my seat, just to readjust myself on it. "It's too late for that,"
"I know," He said before coughing this time violently, and then, I could see from where I was some blood on the tissue, like the time in that office in Verdansk. "Ah...this sickness...I don't know if it's to punish me of my deeds or to free me of this corrupt world," He thought, looking over his bloodied tissue.
"After what you did, I don't think you're redeemable," Park confessed, showing no signs of concerns about him.
"I know that miss Park, people don't forget...nothing is forgiven," He confirmed to her, starting to wrap the bloodied tissue away and then put it on part of the little table before moving to grab a little box...a box of tissue. "I regret parts of my life...but raising Yirina wasn't part of it," He presumed with a little smile that I couldn't even reciprocate...even if I wanted to fake it.
"I regret it...to live a life that wasn't supposed to be mine," I cut him the hopes of making me forget him about his actions, seeing it clearly on his face. "You got me to believe into this fight for a...for a Greater Russia...and I wasn't caring about it because...I wanted to live a normal life," I added, starting to get up from the couch I was on, feeling Park going up. "Instead, you gave me a gun in my hands and probably told me that the only way to live was to follow you," I slowly walk around the table to get next to him but not too close, enough to make him see me entirely. "That's a normal life to you?"
"I was raised like this, Yirina," He started to cough again, minimal but it took him a few seconds to catch his breath. "I was ten years old when the communists were fighting the white armies, I was given a rifle and got told to fight...I lived that since it's normal for me," He assumed his choices, giving me a glimpse about his past...a monster but still feeling like an unknown man at some parts."I regret things, I acknowledge this but...at this time, I believed that our country wasn't going to survive with the communists and I wanted to change by peaceful means...it never worked,"
"Greenlight..." Park whispered, this time louder than the last time she did this.
"It was a mistake, our first downfall," Perseus admitted, releasing a small breath about this. "This day, a lot happened...right?" He presumed, redressing himself on the couch to look at me and I could only nod, knowing what day he was talking about. "Cleaning up the loose ends,"
"I understand now...he feared that sooner or later, I will know about what happened," I predicted, making the links between Black's involvement in my parent's death...and Adler's motive...no, something isn't linking up but that's the only thing I can think about.
"So, he asked Adler to kill you...bloody hell," Park joined in, thinking along with me about this as she moves her hand over her waist, shaking her head. "Something's wrong?" She asked me.
"Something isn't adding up but I don't know what," I gave her my thought about this quick, giving to Perseus a questioning glare. "Adler...what do you know about him?" I asked him as he was going back into laying down on the couch, avoiding our look.
"You know...I always wanted you to live your life...but I was blinded by my fight," He said, his eyes looking over the ceiling of the room, his hands above his chest as his voice was getting lower, sounding tired. "The West will always see me...as the most wanted man of the world...but I'll be a ghost when this time will arrive,"
"What do you mean?" I demanded, curious.
"I'm dying, Jirina, I'm in my last days," He confirmed, his voice getting along this mood...I was feeling bad for him but the anger was still against him too. "Stitch is thinking about saving Perseus, to make the fight continue over the years and he will...he will not live enough to see it," His hands joined together over his chest, a smile starting to form on his face. "I think that you need to leave now...I want some rest...I'm an old man..."
"An old unforgivable man," I told him straight but he wasn't taking it as an insult at all, acknowledging that fact about him, Park & me nodding to leave this place but not before taking with us the file Perseus gave us, wanting to show it at the CIA's nose later.
"Yirina!"
"What?" I turned around as I was going to walk away with the file, Park has taken some steps to reach the door to leave the room.
"Don't give up, that's all I asked from you," He advised me, and from him, I was wondering why he wanted me to not give up my fight against his way of thinking, this man was different to me now. "Goodbye, Yirina, I hope your life will be better than me," He hoped, a low tone in his voice as he wasn't looking to hold me back here any longer before he went back into looking at the ceiling, layed down on his couch.
It's with a last look over him that I decided to leave this room and then this house, maybe seeing this man for the last time ever and to this, I was mixed about things, angry about others...It was a total mixture in my head. To a part, I was feeling bad about Perseus, seeing him at first as a monster and now realizing that he was human after all because of how he was sick...coughing blood, a low voice. I could have forgiven him but I didn't...I didn't because he was unforgivable to make me live all of this...
He played a part in having my parents killed by the CIA and that's the thing that wasn't going to make me forgive this man, not after what I lived under his control. When I & Park opened the front door to get out, I thought that I was going to cry and break myself after thinking about all I discovered but instead, once I closed the door behind me, I went to sit down on the porch, putting my back again the door as my eyes went over the file that I put on my lap...I was shaken down by it.
"I thought this was a lie...that Perseus killed my parents and blamed it over the West," I murmured in a low voice as I could see Park kneeling in front of me. "The West killed my parents, how should I feel now?" I demanded to myself.
"I don't know," Park replied, thinking that I asked her about this...this was a question without an answer....an answer that I prefer to know later.
"I hate him for what he made me become but now, I went to see him as a sick dying man...I don't know what my head wants to think about him," I said my doubts about him as I raised my legs a little, putting my hands over my kneecaps. "You should hate me, Park,"
"Why I would?" She demanded, sounding worried.
"I know that sometimes, my decisions are stupid, that I can get us killed but you're always agreeing with me in every way...always, you never went against a decision of mine, even the risky ones," I told her and even if I wasn't angry at all against her, I thought she needed to be like it with me. "Be angry, I'll take it," I suggested, ready to endure this on many occasions but Park's face, she wasn't looking to do this.
"You know that I will not, Yirina," Park admitted, one of her hands moving over mine on my kneecaps. "Do you think that I want to be angry with you, after what we learned? No, I won't and never will be angry against you," She proclaimed with seriousness in the tone of her voice, her hands gently getting on mine.
"You don't need to risk your life for me," I muttered.
"I do...I owe you more of my damn life...the only person I don't want to lose is you," She said to me as she moved closer to my lap, she was speaking the truth here by looking at her face. "Yirina, I love you, you just mean the fucking world to me," She declared with a little smile, hoping to give me some smile too and she managed by a little, only bringing out a grin at this.
"Me too," I affirmed to this as my hands moved away after a few seconds to grab the file before starting to get up, a feeling of determination & a bit of anger taking over me. "We should leave now, I don't want to stay here any longer," I admitted, this place was making me uncomfortable to stay and Park was thinking the same, nodding back at me before we started to leave the porch. "Where's Freya?" I demanded as when we arrived next to the car, Freya wasn't around it or in it.
"That's strange," Park looked around us to see if Freya wasn't hiding somewhere before moving to reach the door of the driver, its window looking opened. "There's a piece of paper on the steering wheel," She discovered a small paper on it, me looking at it as Park took it in her hands to read it...that's weird. "It says that...she allowed us to leave but she can't bring herself to drive us back to Kyiv...she left right after we got in," Park revealed the content of that piece of paper that she handed to me over the car when I start reading it...Freya was still shocked by the news we gave her and because of it, she wrote that she didn't want to make a mistake...she left...
"It was too much for her," I thought, wrapping the piece of paper and putting it in one of my pockets. "I understand," I added before I let out a little breath, sounding exhausted. "You drive?" I suggested to Park.
"I will," She accepted with a nod, starting to open the door and get on the driver's seat, the car keys having been left over by Freya. "Okay, we should be...be back to Kyiv in an hour or two," Park presumed as I sit next to her, thinking about everything that I know now.
"I'm going to rest a little, I think I need it," I told Park who immediately nodded at me as I decided to lay my head against the headrest of my seat and look outside while Park was starting to drive away...
Yeah, I need to rest now...all of this...I need to close my eyes & think a bit...all I need...

----------------------------------------------------------------------
I cried...it took me months...years to finally remember what happened that day, what my parents did to save me and...I couldn't believe that fact, the CIA killing my parents just because they saw too much, making them collateral damage just because my father 'betrayed' the West, thanks to Perseus's actions. I couldn't cry that night, I don't know if I did this once those men were away from the house but what I was presumably holding for years, unfortunately, burst out of my chest after all these times. The pain of knowing this horrible truth, to know that I was assisting the same organization that killed my parents, was enough to get me bad again...
I don't know how much time I cried in the room with Lazar behind me but I think that I was releasing everything I could do at this moment, nothing was resisting going out but the pain was staying, a knot in my chest forming while my eyes were feeling dry of crying. I was like at the urge of giving up myself to make me stop suffering myself in a world that is continuously shitting on me almost all day but I knew that this is not what I wanted to do now...never. I was maybe raised to fight even if I didn't want to but now, I want to serve the good side...the only side I think is good now...it was the MI6...Park, not the CIA...never.
After a few times, I don't know how much to be honest, my mind shut down to go to sleep with the usual fear coming back of relieving the bad memories. I certainly didn't want to relive the next moments of that day, it was too much for me to see my parents die at my eyes...no, I couldn't know how I will be able to relive it, maybe on a better day when I'm not this fucked. I'll be ready as now, I'm not at all. Fortunately for me, my brain decided to not make me suffer, the night was a big void of memories for me, nothing to relive...just nothing, I thought of nothing.
The next morning, it was the sound of a clock beeping that got me into opening my eyes that were still feeling dry, my eyelids were irritating because of it, and an urge of taking off this eyepatch covering my left eye. I couldn't have it anymore on my face so when I got sit on the side of the bed, taking off the eyepatch was the first thing to do, removing it in one go and to my surprise, the left eye was...having to look better but not as perfect of the vision on my right side...it will take time to fully recover but no eyepatch for me anymore, I'm done with it.
I turned around to see that Lazar was still on the bed, at the same position he was last night when I come in, still sleeping. I didn't want to disturb him so I decided to leave him be for the moment, letting him sleep until he was properly awake before I went into getting up and grab some new clothes for me and then, going out of the room and directly reaching the living room/kitchen area of the apartment, its main part.
"You awake," The first person who talked and saw me coming was Woods, sitting on one of the few stools next to the space separating the kitchen and the living room, a cup in his hand.
"Hey, Woods," I slightly raised my hand to wave at him with my right hand as I could get a glimpse of Katinka's face popping from the kitchen next to Woods.
"Oh...hey, Yirina," Her voice was sounding a bit lower than Woods's as she was cleaning up an empty cup with a cloth. "You're alright?" She asked me.
"I don't know to be honest," I didn't know how I was feeling at the moment, I couldn't say that I was good as it was fucking lies but I couldn't admit that I was bad. "My head is confused," I added as I went to join Woods at the stool next to him without sitting on it.
"How's that?" Woods demanded, holding his cup with one hand.
"The usual," I murmured, wondering if I wanted to sit down for a bit or not but then, I decided to go for the first option and take a seat. "My head is struggling to not fuck myself up with the memories I'm getting back," I told them, now completely sitting on the stool and moving to hold my head with my left hand. "How's my left eye? I removed that eyepatch, couldn't hold it anymore around my face," I questioned the two while giving them a better view on it, the two narrowing their eyes for it.
"Well, how's your vision?" Katinka asked me.
"Good but different from my right side," I replied to her as if I was seeing Katinka perfectly on my right, my left was kinda okay, not perfect.
"Your eye is pretty different now...got two shapes of colors on the two of them," Woods commented before he turns his head around. "Is there a..."
"Got it," Katinka cut him in before he could finish as she was already moving back to grab something...a mirror that was next to the little fridge. She took it as it was small and move again at us to hand it to me.
"Shit..." That's what I could only whisper when I discovered my eye after a long time under an eyepatch...almost a long month with it. My blue eyes were looking very different to each other, my right was still looking normal with a good shape of the blue like Park has but my left...must have been the injections...the iris was slighted changed, the blue iris was looking very different., it was very hard to describe it, I was just...different now. "Any ideas if it could go back to normal?"
"I ain't no doc so I can't tell you," Woods shrugged who then looked over Katinka, awaiting an answer from her.
"I'm sorry but it's the same from me," Katinka affirmed, shrugging too in the process. "You should wait that we got a real doc here to check you in,"
"Yeah, let Sims do this...ah shit, I remember now that Hudson put him in Verdansk," Woods sighed at this thought, his face telling much that he wanted Sims to be around. "Fucking fuck," He cursed calmy before moving his lips on his cup of coffee.
"Any news from the outside? Any calls from the West?" I demanded at the two of them and that question was kinda making them...looking weird and it was making me wonder why a simple question could make them like that.
"Well, we should have got this two hours ago but...Uhm..." Woods started, putting down his cup of coffee on the counter, his eyes moving around and certainly avoiding to look behind him. "Uhm...you...Park..."
"Park?" I muttered at this, what happened to her?
"Yeah, Park was the one to get the call from the West...well, not exactly," Katinka revealed to this, looking a bit unsure of what she wanted to tell me.
"She's the one to call Hudson...she didn't go quite nice on him," Woods added to this and inside of me, I was happy to know that Park told Hudson how she was feeling about him but on the other hand, something was intriguing me...I didn't saw Park anywhere since I woke up. "She was very angry...so angry that she throw the phone away, smashing it on the ground and since, she stayed alone on the balcony," Katinka pointed out behind me and I turned around to look outside. She was there...Park, sit on a chair on the small balcony of the apartment.
"For...she's been here for two hours?" I whispered, linking quick...if Park was like this, she must be feeling damn bad about everything. "You let her alone?"
"Hey, she was so angry that she was able to kill us all if we tried to talk to her, I'm holding at my life, Yirina," Woods protested, making discreet signs towards where Park was. At this, my body wasn't sure if talking to Park now was a good idea...it is...Yeah, I need to talk to her, we need to. "Maybe if you can talk her down, you can save us," He proposed.
"Sure," I affirmed, starting to go off my stool to walk away & join Park outside but it was looking like something was needed to be asked from them.
"Wait," Katinka ordered.
"What?" I asked.
"Uhm...you never said what Perseus revealed to you & Park...you want to talk about it?" She demanded and it was true, I never told them the truth about Perseus making my parents look like traitors and saying this could be releasing a bomb in the wild...a big bomb that needed to be given...I told them that I'll talk, I will.
"He told us that...my parents...died by the hands of the CIA, an operation led by Emerson Black," I sent a wave of shock inside both of them by looking at their faces, both drifting their eyes to look at each other in confusion. "Perseus managed to make my father a traitor to the MI6, the CIA came instead, made a slaughter of every innocent and kill them because they saw too much...I watched it happen," I explained, adding more shock that it should be in them, Woods moving his hands over his face while Katinka was putting her hands on the counter.
"Hudson's superior...what a fucking bastard..." Woods murmured behind his hands before he passed them through his hair and let out a breath, going up from his chair. "Excuse me but...I think I'll check Lazar now if you may,"
"Go," Katinka approved with a little nod as Woods got off his stool and passed in front of me to walk at the bedroom's door and enter it, closing the door behind him and now, leaving me alone with Katinka and it was looking that she was going to move away. "Is it true?" She demanded that at this moment I remember to have taken the file from Perseus, still in the inside of my jacket. I took it off and decided to give it to her.
"If you can't read it, it's okay and if you're uncomfortable...get some air, it will be okay," I suggested to her, her hands going to touch the file on the counter.
"Okay...okay...go see Park now, I might need to prepare myself and buy some food for the day," She advised me back as she took the file in her hands, keeping it close for the moment until I turned around, leaving her alone & ready to go see Park on the balcony.
Now, I was shaken down on the inside about what I learned from Park. I never heard about her getting angry as much as before and hearing that she took a stand against Hudson on the phone was kinda something good to hear for once but...smashing the phone like this and locking herself up on the balcony for two hours, it was the first time that Park could be this much angry. Was it about what we learned yesterday? It was sure to be like it, I know that she was having trouble trusting the CIA but now, I don't know if there was any trust left.
Before I could step out, I took a look at Park through the window. She was sitting upon a black chair, turning around away at the horizon, and after a few deep breaths and determination, I went to turn the door handle and open the door, leading me to the small balcony who was short enough in width to allow 2 persons to get on it. She didn't turn her head around when she heard the door getting opened, only her eyes moved at me, her face was looking pretty neutral to me, something to hide behind it.
"You're okay, Park?" I started, actually getting a fear of being rejected by her to not talk as I slowly approach her.
"What about you?" She demanded at me, slightly turning her head at me.
"I'm asking you, Park, not me," I reminded, keeping a good voice with her as I would never want to raise my voice against her again. "Woods & Katinka told me about what you did," I added.
"Hudson...fucking wanker..." She murmured as she moves her hands towards a table where there was some tobacco along with some cigarettes filters near it, taking a filter and a piece of tobacco. "I called him after I woke up,"
"How much time did you sleep?" I asked her, worried as I was able to get a closer look at her face and see that her eyelids were looking like dark circles.
"Only two hours...it was impossible to sleep without you crying...I was hearing you crying in my head," She replied instantly, stopping herself in her moves as she was preparing herself a cigarette. "I woke up one last time and decided to give him a call..." She resumed her actions on making it but I was seeing that she was struggling to do it perfectly, some tobacco falling out on the ground. "Told him to give the MI6 every CIA operations files they did in 1956 and when he refused, I got me...I got my damn voice higher!" She said as her voice was getting higher at the moment when she, unfortunately, scratched the cigarette filter, tearing it apart.
"Hey, calm down," I advised her, taking a step towards her as she took another filter again and start trying to make another cigarette, her hands were trembling now.
"I told him to fucking eat shit & die if he wasn't going to give me the files...got my voice...higher again...dammit, that should be easy to do, Helen!" She mumbled at the end, her eyes going down to look at what she was doing, and the more she was struggling, the more that the anger in her voice was starting to fade away. "He agreed but I couldn't stop myself from saying what I was thinking and...FUCK!" She then yelled when she ripped that filter too, throwing its pieces on the ground at her feet. "I CAN'T EVEN DO A FUCKING BLOODY CIGARETTE!" She shouted very loudly but her voice now...wasn't angry anymore. "I CAN'T EVEN DO A FUCKING CIGARETTE!" She said again before she moves her hands on her face...and...and she starts to cry.
"I'm here for you, Park," I whispered, moving in front of her quick by kneeling, a hand over her kneecaps.
"All of my bloody life...all of it...was complete shit...I lost everything I had before...I lost everyone close to me, I almost got beheaded...tortured to death...A FUCKING BLOODY LIFE!" She told me, removing her hands off her face as she was crying, her tears falling down her cheeks and her breaths...she was trying to get it back to normal. "I thought that I should have done it but no, you came back to me at the worst moment..."
"That's good...I'm always here for you...to think about you, to love you," I tried to reassure her but I couldn't know if it was working now, my words...I couldn't know if this is what she wanted to hear
"I thought that it will be good but I realized that...both of our lives are very similar...we both lost what we loved, what was dear to us," She explained, raising her crying eyes to look at me, seeing them the sadness...it was the first time I saw her crying this hard since I met her, this was hard for me to see.
"It is...you're right," I admitted directly, remembering everything that happened to us...what happened in her life, mine...we're both affected by the events of the other and today...I realized how much we both created a strong link...I couldn't break it and stop loving her. It would destroy me.
"I just realized that my life...isn't likable if...if you're not around, you're the only person to keep me happy, Yirina," Park affirmed and to this, I brought a little grin...and tears to it, the few tears that were still in me and not been able to get out during the night.
"I feel the same with you too," I said, sure of myself and at this, she moves her arms around me, hugging me by the shoulders and to this, I needed to do the same, making this too, both recomforting the other...we both have our sensitive sides and now...even if she was hiding it at her best, Park couldn't hold it and she broke down for me...she needs me around and I need her too...shit happened but now, I didn't want to care about this but only to make sure to enlighten Park's life, trying to smile at her and make her happy, that's all I want with her. "Do you want to go back inside? To get some rest?" I proposed to her as we were breaking the hug.
"I do...I need some too...I need to rest," She complied with a little nod as I could see briefly Lazar & Woods going out of the bedroom from here.
"Okay, let's go now, shall we?" I said, moving back up and handing my left hand over to get her up from her seat and she does, now moving this same hand around her waist as we were starting to move back inside to get some rest...
"I'll stay with you, you need me, I need you...you know that,"

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Finally, we managed to find them...Zasha. It was painful for me the first time I heard that they got kidnapped by Perseus but I knew that someday, we will get them back at our side and this night was the day it will happen but they weren't the only persons we found, it happened that Sonya Kuzmin, Stitch's sibling & Bellamy Petrov, the crazy Perseus guy were also there, surprisingly taking care of Zasha after they were left to die by Stitch & the Collective. If we got Zasha back to us, we couldn't leave the two others there and we decided to take them with us...Viktoria's reaction was exactly what I thought...
She wasn't willing at first to get more than 5 persons at our hideout due to the risk it could provide with too many people in one place but hopefully, we managed to convince her to allow them to come in at her hideout at the exchange of trying to find a solution into neutralizing Perseus's threat once & for all in Verdansk to avoid any further problems. We were now 7 people going to hide at that warehouse...me, Park, Zasha, Portnova, Viktoria, Sonya & Bellamy...the latter was the most dangerous & unpredictable one, and even if he's on 'our side', a close eye needed to keep on it.
We managed to get the necessary stuff for Sonya & Bellamy loaded on the jeep before going back to the warehouse, the jeep was heavier than the first drive and during it, I could overhear whispers coming from Zasha & Portnova, they were both talking about the house and how they, along with Sonya, succeeded into hiding here before Bellamy found them & came in. I couldn't overhear more as we got to the warehouse, now going to organize the stuff in here with 3 new people here.
Thankfully for us, we sorted it out quickly, Sonya & Bellamy going to sleep in one of the remaining free spaces of the place, Zasha going with Portnova and after that, my main thought was to wrap myself into my sleeping bag and close my eyes for the night after this day, Park following me in the process...I just needed to stop thinking for a moment & clean up my head for some hours...some peaceful dreams...
I could see myself...in a garden...feeling a bit older than I am, laying down for a rest near a pool...I was wearing some sorts of sunglasses and I was lowering them to look to my right, seeing Park with her head towards me with a grin...a beautiful smile in front of me but then we both turned our heads around towards the pool in front of our seats, someone has done a jump in it...on the other side was Portnova watching the same thing as us, laughing before we got to see Zasha's head popping underwater...a dream...a peaceful dream...this is what the future could be for me?...
"Hey, Yirina,"  A voice came out in my head, sounding like Zasha but in a muffled tone, like away from me but then, I could feel someone moving my shoulder at a slow pace. "Hey," The same voice was sounding louder & too real to be hidden inside my head, causing me to slightly open my eyes back into the real world. "Hey," Another tap over my shoulder as my eyes were getting their visions better until I got to see Zasha, real this time, knelt next to me.
"Zed?" I mumbled in a low voice, slowly getting redressed while stretching my arms, seeing that the morning was shining through the upper windows of the warehouse. "What's happening?" I demanded, giving a quick look at my left to see Park in her sleeping bag, looking to wake up too.
"Uhm...I'm sorry to wake you up like this but..." They started, unsure of their words, one of their hands moving behind their head to scratch it. "We kinda...well, I need to talk to you," They said, trying to avoid eyes contact with me.
"Now?" I presumed, having a look to see that at her post, Viktoria was up, helped by Portnova while Sonya & Bellamy were waking up too at the same time at their spot.
"Yeah...in private," They affirmed, finally able to look at me in the eyes. "Outside," They added, gesturing behind them at the door.
"Okay...will you let me get a..." I wasn't even able to finish the words of my question when Zasha got one of their hands towards me...holding a cup of coffee in it..."Oh," I was a bit surprised to see this from them, thinking they would be resting for a long time but they were looking better than yesterday, I think.
"I preferred to have it done for you," They admitted to me, unzipping my bag to allow me to get up, grabbing the cup of coffee they were holding once I was standing up. "You coming?" I nodded at them before I starts following them outside the warehouse as they wanted, waving at Portnova & Viktoria on the way, the latter doing the same with a little smile before we got outside.
"What do you want to..."
"Not here," Zasha cut me again as I was stopped right next to the door, a view of the city but Zasha was continuing in their walk, causing me to move alongside them to get behind the warehouse, looking to be a very private discussion they wanted to have. "Better here," They commented once we got behind the building, turning around to look at me, having a sip of the coffee and very intrigued.
"What's happening?" I demanded, curious.
"It's something I talked about to Yiri during the night," They started with a breath, body moving to the side. "Well...I saw Dedov...he's in Verdansk," They revealed, me stopping my hands at that news...Lazar & now...Dedov..."I tried to plead with him that he was being played around by Stitch...it didn't work,"
'Really?" I breathed with a shock.
"He thought that I was speaking non-sense, that their brother died a long time ago for Perseus...he was along with Stitch to dispose of me...it broke my heart to see him aged but wearing that uniform and acting like that," They explained, feeling the way about Dedov's situation...shocked, angry...wanting to do everything to get Dedov back to reason..."I...I think that...you're probably going to take me for crazy but...I don't think that Dedov is brainwashed...that..."
"Wait, what are you saying here?" I stopped them, starting to fear something worse than brainwashing at hearing those words. "Are you trying to tell me that...Dedov is willingly working with Perseus?"
"Three years...he was for three years with Perseus, they got him and they surely got him indoctrinated, he's well aware of all of that brainwashing stuff, it's not normal," They exclaimed, pointing their right hand towards the direction we came here. "They made him believe that we're his enemies, he's working on things I never wanted him to see once...once!" Their voice was sounding higher here, expressing their distress on Dedov. "Stitch teaching him how to make Nova 6...they're going to drown Verdansk of that shit in a few days!"
"How do you know that?" I asked.
"Bellamy," They simply said.
"Him?" I chuckled.
"Yes,"
"Why?"
"Because he's in the same situation as us," They told me, giving me an unsure look as if their words weren't true for them. "I know that he did things against us back in London but for once that he's not an asshole trying to kill us,"
"I know that well, Zed, he tried to kill us with a nuclear bomb, remember?" I reminded them of that day when London almost lived its final day with that crazy Sarah under the parliament.
"I do," They nodded. "Bellamy still believes in those ideals but he wants revenge on Stitch...he can be useful, he knows everything," They suggested, this time, sounding clear & sure of themselves on this...to say that I have to put my trust on Bellamy...dammit, where's that world. "I know that he did fucked up your eye back in England as Stitch did in here but Bellamy can give us the way to stop him and get Dedov back,"
"Dammit," I sighed, shaking my head as my eyes went over my coffee between my hands, trying to think about this...I kinda hate to admit to myself that Zasha was right about Bellamy but they were..."I guess that we don't have many choices," I resigned myself to accept that help. "I just hope that he will keep his promise,"
"He will," They affirmed.
"And Sonya in that case?" I demanded, moving my hands to take a quick sip of the coffee going between my lips. "What are their thoughts on it?"
"They just want to get over this and leave," Zasha responded in a better mood...Sonya was never bad against me...they even helped us many times in discreet ways...now, it was direct. "They're willing to help us but they will not give themselves up to the CIA or the MI6," They declared, mixed on this...
"And I presume that Bellamy's thinking the same," I suggested, knowing well that he will not be allowed to be taken away by the West, still thinking of those ideas...a nod from them confirming this..."When will that attack take place?" I demanded, mentioning that Nova-6 threat on the city.
"I don't know but it could be tomorrow or any day, it will happen this week,"  They presumed.
"So, we need to act quick," I let out a breath away, now finding ourselves in a race against time to stop an attack that could happen at any moment. "I need to have a word with Park & Viktoria before we start to organize how we should proceed," I told them, moving to drink a large part of my coffee to finish it.
"Have any ideas?" Zasha asked.
"That's what we'll try to get," I responded, finishing the coffee in the cup for good before I could see their face, a bit worried. "Don't worry...we'll get Dedov back..."
"Thank you...and your friend, Lazar?" They muttered, a quick thought about him in my head...we need to get him too...
"We will too," I presumed with a little nod before we both starts to walk away from our spot to go back inside..."I hope," I silently murmured on my side on our way back, making myself a promise to get Lazar back for good...for good...
When I got my feet back inside and while Zasha was moving away to get to Portnova, I went in the opposite direction, already starting to craft a plan inside my head as I was reaching Park to tell her about Dedov but also the imminent Nova-6 threat over Verdansk, surely prompting us to get to find a quick plan on what to do and how we should do it...my mind was also thinking at the same moments about Dedov...trying to not think that Lazar is doing the same thing as him...that's not something that would be good to know...
While we were trying to find a plan, working on it with Viktoria whose situation was quickly explained, Zasha & Portnova got to intercept a Perseus communication between their supposed HQ & one of their groups fighting into the port district, briefly mentioning Nova-6's name in that short message and to be prepared in the next few days but confirming that this threat was indeed real and going to happen soon...a plan was to be made quickly and it has to be done today or tomorrow...
"You're sure to trust him?" Viktoria was next to me as we establish a table in the middle of the warehouse with the map of Verdansk on it, talking about Bellamy's allegiance here after at least one hour of talking & eating a small lunch.
"We need him to know how to proceed," I told her, hands on the table before seeing everyone coming from different directions to get around the table, Park next to me along with Viktoria, Zasha & Portnova in front of us while Sonya & Bellamy were both in the opposite sides of the table. "Everyone," I gestured to them all. "As we all know now, Stitch is planning a Nova-6 attack on the city, it could be happening tomorrow or in the future days and you know that we can't allow it to happen," I started, everyone who has been put aware of the situation before.
"It could be disastrous if one single Nova-6 barrel went to explode in the city, it will provoke the death of civilians but also every CIA & KGB soldiers disposed around town," Park continued, her right hand making a circle over the map. "We don't have the locations of where the gas attacks will begin but if we can't know every location, we got to know where they're going to lead it," She added, directly moving her eyes towards the only man capable of telling us what we need. "Bellamy, hope that you stay true to your words,"
"What do you think I am? I may be an asshole but I kept my promises," He swore with a smirk on his face as his eyes went to look forwards, towards Sonya before his face changed a little. "What? I'm right," He exclaimed.
"When was the last time you hold a promise?" Sonya demanded with a curious but surprised tone in their voice.
"Oh, damn you, Kuzmin!" Bellamy cursed.
"Hey, we don't have time for that shit!" Viktoria raised her voice towards the two, her right fist almost ready to slam it over the table before giving a very serious glare at Bellamy. "You, can you tell us where Perseus is hidden, please?" She gently asked him even if she could be throwing the table at his face if she could do.
"Okay," Bellamy sighed, leaning to have a look at the map before his left hand went over it and then tapped over a location north of the city. "There, Stitch is hiding at the Duga array radar," He revealed, making a circle around that location.
"That place?" Viktoria whispered, narrowing her eyes towards it. "Why Stitch would be hiding there? It's close to the fights,"
"Because that place is the only fucking one who has a functional radar around that town," Bellamy replied to her, removing his hand off the map. "The ones back at the military station were destroyed in the explosions your friend Adler did, a destroyed radar doesn't work well," He commented.
"So first, Adler ain't our friend and here...no one's friend with him at all," I went to speak up, correcting him on that fact directly and to get to the fact that Stitch and his men were hiding at least 1 kilometers from us...the warehouse was at least 1 kilometer from the Duga array radar location..."Two...those Duga radars are powerful enough to send that type of signal...it should be the place," I added as a personal knowledge even if I don't remember how I got it...Duga's name was seeming familiar to me...
"Well..." Bellamy started to say, cutting himself to take a breath. "I don't know if you're aware of this but we're only seven against...a lot...I'm not sure that our little posse...will manage to stop the masked Stitch," He gave out a comment on this particular & half-true fact...a seven people army...not sure if it can work...not making a total assault on it.
"Because you think we'll attack the place like that?" I guessed and suddenly, I could feel the weight of everyone's eyes going over me.
"What do you mean here?" Viktoria demanded.
"If we do attack the radar like that, Stitch will transmit the attack order but I don't think that he will resist having a talk to us before," I presumed, thinking it as a way to get inside that base and attack it from the inside...if we make it so.
"That's crazy!" Sonya commented.
"Oh yeah, and how miss Grigoriev, you will get us in?" Bellamy scoffed at my serious face with a little laugh before I continued to look at him.
"I think you know the answer," I gave him, without saying it directly, my idea of sneaking our way inside that base. "You're getting us in,"
"Okay, I'm joining Sonya's comment here, you're crazy!" He then protested, Sonya's giving out widened eyes towards him, probably surprised by those words while the others were mixed on this but mostly going to agree by the look on their face.
"Well, you're a Perseus agent, Bellamy and you told me & Sonya that even if you know that Stitch wants you dead, he didn't order this directly," Zasha joined in into the discussion, giving that detail that's good to know. "So...yeah, you're the guy getting us in...all of us,"
"All of us?" Park repeated. "Zasha, you're wounded," She declared, gesturing at them and she was true, Zasha was having their right eye infected, obliged to cover it with an eyepatch.
"And? It's just my eye," They commented.
"Zed, you need to listen, you can't..."
"Yiri, I know what I'm doing, I'm coming," Zasha gently cut Portnova off, sounding determined to come to fight despite their state. "My brother is surely there and I swore...we swore to get him back home, it's been 3 years that we did that and I'm not breaking my promise," They argued, telling it higher to make sure everyone got their point before they put their hands on the table. "I just want my brother...that's why I'm coming," They added, raising their head at me who wasn't willing at first to take them in but now, it changed...
"Okay...you're in but you're staying with me," I gave in & allowed that to happen, taking that risk but still warning them of it.
"You're sure?" Park whispered next to me, giving a nod as a response.
"So...how do we proceed?" Viktoria questioned, getting on that point and here...I knew that we couldn't all be going inside that base, some of us should stay outside...with support.
"On the 7 of us...4 are going in...Bellamy taking that group inside," I answered, my left hand going over one of the roads leading to that radar base. "Two of us are staying outside...for support,"
"Support?" Viktoria's voice was low but enough to be heard, sounding curious about this. "You want to get the CIA in?" She guessed.
"And the KGB," I added, again, feeling those eyes back on me again. "The more the attack from the outside is strong, the more the panic will be higher into Perseus soldiers...an attack from one direction is too dangerous for the two...add the CIA & the KGB in it,"
"And it's a sure moment to get everyone," Park muttered, having crossed her arms. "I acknowledge that it's a risky plan for all of us but if we can stop Stitch and bring an end to them and that attack, we need to do it," She exclaimed in a clear voice, a bit of it measuring the risks we're taking. "It's a risk we're taking but it's worth it," She added.
"For now...we need to make the CIA & KGB understand each other," Portnova guessed, me & Park nodding at this. "It will take a day to have them shaking hands,"
"It will be enough to prepare us," I commented, removing my hands off the table to give a look to Viktoria, a bit unsure of that part.
"I mean...it's worth it as you said...but I don't want anyone from the CIA & KGB here,  we will send messages but no one here," She said, reminding us of that demand she did when we got here days ago...something we all agreed on. "Okay...I should get the first messages sent in a few minutes," She proposed herself, giving a look at every one of us before walking away to her radio post.
"You guys are crazier than me...wow," Bellamy commented towards us before he does the same by going away, soon followed by Sonya going in a different direction before Zasha & Portnova does too, leaving me alone with Park.
"Yiri...can we talk?" Park asked me.
"Later...I need to think," I politely refused, wanting to get my head clear after that plan-making moment...I wasn't in the mood of talking here even if it was Park.
"Okay," She whispered before her cold lips went to touch my left cheek in a slow pace before she got them off. "Later," She said with the same tone before walking away....leaving me fully alone...my eyes on that location...the Duga Array radar...Stitch's hideout...the final was coming...
We will stop him once & for all, him & his Nova-6 attack...for good...or die trying...

----------------------------------------------------------------------
"Really?" That's all I could say from what Viktoria told me while she was having her revolver aimed at my face, the cannon of it pointed between my eyes. Her index finger was staying in a position of nearly going to press the trigger of the revolver...I knew that our first talk with her wasn't going to be good at first but I didn't expect this to happen...well, now, I do...I changed that since I got a gun against me. "You've been waiting for me?" I demanded.
"I knew that we will meet and it has to be exactly the days where Perseus is getting attacked on their ground," Viktoria replied, my eyes trying to look away from her by knowing if Park or Portnova will arrive by the only available door I came in.
"And there's a reason you have to keep this gun at my face?" I asked her, pointing with my free hand towards the revolver.
"You maybe work with CIA or MI6 and that you're against Perseus but that doesn't mean I can't trust you," She admitted, keeping her gun up even if it did get lowered from a few millimeters. "I know you well but with years, people can change,"
"I know that feeling very well," I assured, making a gesture with my head on my right side. "If you know me, I should know you...right?" I guessed but the surprise came inside of me with her shaking her head.
"I know you more than you do know me," She affirmed.
"You're Ex-KGB, you disappeared back in 1976, everyone thought you got killed or captured by the CIA," I told her, giving out everything that I was knowing about her...the intriguing fact is that if I can remember only this, she knows what I got into, what happened to me. "Is that right?"
"You are," She nodded. "We're both Ex-KGB,"
"Why did you leave?" I asked her.
"Is it very important to you to know why I changed sides?" She asked me, making a step forwards at me, getting the cannon closer to my forehead. "You wanted to change sides too, is that a correct guess?" She presumed.
"It is," I chuckled.
"However, the CIA decided otherwise...well, I should correct myself here and that it was Russell Adler who decided to launch you into the MK-Ultra program," She said, causing me to get a bit uncomfortable to be remembered what happened to me, this was at this moment I let go of my MP5 off my right hand by putting it on the ground, her keeping her revolver at me. "The American response to the Numbers program...different flags, same methods," She commented.
"I share that thought too but I ain't swinging with the CIA, I'm MI6," I defended.
"MI6, CIA, BND...it's the same things, you work for the Crown, the president or West-Germany, it doesn't change anything," She assumed...something that was a bit true, to be honest. "We all choose to work with a lesser evil,"
"And with who are you working for?" I questioned her, curious.
"For my own," She responded, moving her eyes away for a few seconds to the way I came in, me doing the same thing before checking my radio I got on my chest...turned off, impossible to get it on without her seeing it, I should not play with fire here.
"I heard that you worked with the CIA before...since you defected?" I asked, remembering Sims talking about her used to be in the CIA's ranks years ago.
"I was but the CIA crossed the line with me back in April 1981," She answered, seeming to be ready to lower her gun down but she was looking reluctant to do it, her face was showing this feeling. "Imagine that you worked for years for someone and one day, that person backstab you,"
"I know that too, it happened to me..."
"Three years ago, Solovetsky, Adler shot you in the head but the bullet deflected on the right side of your head, making you that scar," She cut me in my words, her revolver slightly moving at the right side of my head.
"If you know a lot about what happened to me, why I can't learn about you?" I protested, unfair that she's staying close to herself even if I can help.
"It isn't about me here," She argued.
"If we can't know each other well, it won't help to know what you want here and why are you knowing too much about me," I defended myself back on this, her keeping still with her revolver and looking defensive, seeing her hand reinforcing its hold on the revolver grip. "Viktoria, we didn't come here to kill you, we're here to know the reason for your presence here...and to help you," I added but it wasn't seeming to convince her as she got one step closer to me, her revolver almost going to touch me. "Trust me, we have a common enemy and never I hurt someone close to me,"
"Why I should trust you?" She demanded, her right thumb moving to lower the revolver's hammer, getting ready to shoot at me.
"I don't want to kill you, neither my friends outside...Viktoria, if I was sent to kill you, we wouldn't be talking," I told her, unsure at my own words it would be enough to convince her. "So, trust me, we're here to help against Perseus," I added, thinking of moving my left hand towards her gun to lower it by the gun before retracting myself of doing so...as she got the hammer up again.
"Dammit," She let a sigh out of her mouth before she finally resigned to remove her revolver off my face, taking a look back at the door. "Even, it wouldn't be useful, your friends would have shot me dead," She breathed, turning around with her back against me and moving next to another table with some guns on it. "Why are you here, Grigoriev?" She demanded, her hands getting on top of that table, looking down at it.
"Our friend, Sims...well, he got a rumor that you were operating in Verdansk, we decided to check that rumor," I tried to explain at my best, not wanting her to change her mind and get a revolver aimed at my face again. "It was said that you got decryption material to intercept Perseus communications," I added.
"So, you're here to take my stuff back to that CIA base outside of town?" She turned around, leaning against that table with her arms crossed.
"No, we don't want that," I shook my head. "We're here to know if you're friends...and to help you if you proved to be against Perseus,"
"Well, I think you got your answer when you check what was on that table behind you," She gestured behind me, turning around to remember the photo I checked before she got behind me with her revolver...the Perseus agents...Knight, 'Fuze'...and Freya..."All of them are in Verdansk, those were pictures I took recently," She explained as I was taking in hand Freya's photo. "Except Fuze, he left the city last night,"
"Why?" I said, keeping my eyes on Freya's picture without taking attention to the other ones.
"He was a gun-for-hire... an explosives expert for short, he got hired by Perseus to deal with the bomb that blew up below Verdansk," She presented me with the man as I was changing my mind, removing Freya's face off my view to see the mentioned picture with 'Fuze' marked on it in red with a cross near it. "At my guess, he didn't see the need to fight a losing battle,"
"One less then," I muttered, checking the other pictures before my eyes got wide at the sight of a particular one...something that was terrifying me to see...Lazar...Lazar in a Perseus uniform with a group of masked soldiers, giving orders to them...' Azoulay' as it was written on the picture. "Azoulay...Lazar is in Verdansk," I took the picture in my hand before turning around to face Viktoria and showing it to her. "Can you explain how you got that picture?" I walked toward her at a nervous pace, shocked of seeing that picture.
"It was the last picture I took before coming back here," She said, taking the photo off my hand as I was giving it to her. "I know that he's your friend, I'm sorry about this,"
"He got brainwashed by Perseus with the broadcast, they're still using him," I presumed, wondering why they were making Lazar do all of this for them...that's disgusting...
"That's weird," Viktoria commented, getting her head up to look at me. before her eyes went on her left side, another table. "The bombs that went off destroyed every broadcast station in Verdansk, all the soldiers that got affected came back to their senses," She then got off the table to move to the other one, sounding surprised by my words. "If it happens, why your friend is still working with them?" She mumbled, her right hand moving below her chin to think, looking over her things on the table: pictures, papers, a lot of things...
"What does this mean?" I demanded, fearing the worst about Lazar...I don't want to believe that Lazar willingly works with Perseus after 3 years captured by them, it can't be possible.
"I don't know, let me think," She ordered, her left hand gesturing at me.
"Yirina!" I then heard a shout coming from outside, it was sounding to be Park and it got confirmed when the door opened, revealing her with Portnova behind her, guns up. "My god, Yirina, we've been trying to reach you," She exclaimed, entering the warehouse.
"I know, I'm sorry," I apologized in a low tone before I looked over at Viktoria who didn't turn around from her spot, still next to the table with Lazar's picture.
"Viktoria Korozova?" Portnova presumed, her head focused on Viktoria.
"I am, no need for presentation," Viktoria spoke up, removing her hand off her chine before drifting her body around, seeing Park & Portnova lowering their guns. "Helen Park...Yirina Portnova, MI6...ex-KGB," She guessed right, keeping her eyes on them as if she was checking she got it right. "There's no need to ask why & how I know your names and who you are,"
"Well, that's a beginning," Portnova commented, rolling her eyes around and then discovering the state of the warehouse, more looking like a safe house, to be honest. "How long have you been here?" She asked.
"2 weeks," Viktoria simply replied.
"Since the broadcast started?" Park guessed it was almost two weeks that this event happened...still remembering it well.
"Exactly," Viktoria nodded. "Now, I've been wondering why your friend Azoulay is still working with Perseus despite the broadcast ended now," She told them and I could see Park's eyes got wide at that news before she got to move to face me.
"What is she telling here?" She demanded in a low voice.
"Lazar is in Verdansk, she spotted him in the city with Perseus soldiers, commanding them," I tried to explain to her, shocked to hear that as we never got a real chance to talk about Lazar since that day in West Berlin, to spare us the pain of the past, "I don't know how to feel about this but...it's hard," I declared, unsure about how to feel really on this...angry?...sad?...I couldn't know.
"Bloody hell," Park sighed sadly, moving her free hand over her face before looking down. "I think I need to sit down a bit," She told me with a breath quickly lifting her eyes to check her surroundings before she moves away from me, getting to the nearest chair next to the table of the guns.
"What's happening?" Portnova was going to move next to Park but I went her way, stopping her by putting my arm in front of her.
"It's hard to explain but...I'll tell you later about this, not now," I whispered to her, not wanting to have Park get more pain about this, it was more painful for her because of the events three years ago. "Trust me," I added, getting my arm off her before my eyes drift to look back at Viktoria, still curious about a lot of things, wanting to get Lazar's thoughts out of my head for the moment. "How much do you know me, Viktoria?"
"Enough," She responded, her back turned against me at that same table as Portnova was moving next to a pole of the warehouse. "I've been looking over you for a while, Grigoriev?"
"Since when?" I demanded.
"Since Perseus decided to blow up Yamantau with a nuclear device," She clarified herself, meaning that she started to watch us...since June...almost 3 months...but she knows more about me...she maybe learned more even if we're both ex-KGB, make it three with Portnova. "That got my interest directly, caused me to look more about it, and as you know, got to learn more of you," She continued to explain, suddenly moving to grab a box under the table. "I know you woke up from a coma due to your head wound, was watched over by the doctor Krimilov, right?"
"Uhm...yeah...yes, I remember," I snapped my fingers, the name of that doctor coming back to my head...the man that allowed me to walk away freely and do the impossible.
"You shouldn't be happier right now," Viktoria's voice tone suddenly go deep before she got something in her hands out of that box and turned around to face me. "Look at what happened back in June," She showed me the picture with the doctor on it...two bullets in the head...his body next to a river..."They found his body in the Moskova...Perseus learned that he let you go, he killed him," She revealed to me with a normal voice, still showing me the picture before she got off my eyes.
"I couldn't know," I was surprised of learning this...I almost forgot the name of that doctor once, never forget it about the man who made this happen but to hear that he died at Perseus' hands...it was hard to believe and Viktoria showed me that.
"You do now," She said to me, moving to put the picture on the table before she went to look at the three of us. "Listen, I know that you're planning to stay here for a while until Perseus is neutralized, I can see it in your eyes," She continued, having guessed a bit on that part....it was better to be close to Verdansk than too far war away. "I'll allow this but you better not be too much curious or trying to break any of my stuff around," She warned us, gesturing around with her hand. "Is that clear for you three?"
"Yes," I spoke up after Park & Portnova gave a nod to me to affirm our good intentions & our promises towards Viktoria.
"Okay...so if you're going to help, you better have your things off your car and get them here in the few free spaces around here," She suggested, giving a gesture to the opened door as I could feel that we could be working on very soon, still a lot curious about Viktoria but it wasn't the thing I should show for the next few hours, I think, been allowed here thanks to her...
"It's not today that Perseus will go down but starting now, it should happen in the next days,"

----------------------------------------------------------------------
I wasn't going to look back behind me as I was walking away from her...turning my head was surely going to make me change my mind over her and I couldn't bring myself to make it happen, things were made & she did things that I can't forget...she wasn't the Freya Helvig I knew and even, I don't even know if she was nice to me...I wasn't going to turn away and I continued to walk away from her, getting in the direction she pointed at me...it was surely the last time I'll see her and for me...it was better to think of something else than having her in my mind...closing my past and my thoughts of her...I was focused on the present & the future...I needed to get Stitch...
Walking in that direction was like...the moment I was waiting for since I put my feet back into Verdansk after bringing down Perseus. If someone had answers about my old life and if I can try to get my hands on that person, it had to be Stitch. I was trying to focus on my walk but my left arm was bleeding, still feeling as if the blade of the knife was still inside, and to avoid losing consciousness, I had to stop myself to walk and try to get this wound patched up. I looked over my gear, my right hand reaching a little pouch on my vest to open it and take a bandage...enough to cover the wound but nothing to remove the pain...
I knelt for a few moments to unwrap the bandage and then, get it around the wound, trying my best to make it look okay and once that I was done, instead of going back on my feet and resuming my walk, I stayed with my knee on the ground, having a moment to think and to keep calm about the wound...My M1911 was in front of me, on the ground, my initials visible on the left side near the grip...it's with this pistol it started...and it's with this one it will end...and after I finished, I took it back into my right hand and get up, resuming the walk to the West...towards the sunset.
The forest then ended when I arrived near a little plain separating this forest I was in from a line of trees and I could feel that I was getting closer, seeing a little dirt path going over that line of trees. I then walked over it, traversing that plain with the sunset over it before I got at the same level from the tree line...and it's at this moment I saw him...Stitch. He was alone...all alone, standing next to a stone...looking like a grave and Stitch was looking at it as I was starting to get to him but in the way, I decided to put my M1911 back into my holster, not need to use it because...I had an indescribable feeling...it wasn't the guns that were going to speak here and I didn't want to fight anymore today.
"Stitch," I decided to speak up first, announcing myself to him as I stopped a few meters away to look at him.
"I knew it was you, Grigoriev," He said in a calm tone in his voice...very calm, he didn't seem angry at all. "Wraith must have fled with her followers...and that soon enough, he will come here," He added, keeping the same tone and raising his head by seeing his hood going up a little.
"Who?" I asked.
"You know it well," He assumed, making me go thinking quick...and one name came out of my thoughts...the only man that could hold a lot of hatred towards Stitch from over the years.
"Adler," I muttered.
"In a few minutes, he will come here with an ambition...he will leave empty," Stitch presumed, turning around to face me, having the same face as his voice ...very calm...not upset...it was weird to see him like that. "I don't have an escape plan, no snipers hidden somewhere, it's just me...and you,"
"Do you think I can believe you?" I demanded, not buying those facts. "I know you too well, Stitch, you're not that kind of person,"
"Then, you don't know me good enough," He countered me, shaking his head. "What I'm saying is the truth, the only truth," He acclaimed, sounding sure in his voice as, at any moment, I could retract myself and take my M1911...but two bullets in the only mag I have...not worth it. "Why would I start to lie during the last moments of my life?" He murmured in a low voice, talking to himself.
"The last moments? Are you saying that you will let Adler kill you? You're kidding?" I was a bit astonished by Stitch's words, after all, he has done...giving up like that...but then, my eyes went to move on the grave, no name on it...it was just a grave. "What's that?" I demanded, my eyes on that grave as I decided to go closer to it, making sure that Stitch doesn't try anything.
"It's his grave," Stitch replied to me, moving my right hand over the top of the grave and...I got a realization...'Stitch is with Perseus'...' Stitch is with Perseus'...Perseus...Perseus grave?...no, it can't be that...
"No," I whispered with a sad tone.
"His cancer took him a week ago, he didn't want anyone except a part of the Collective to know where he was going to rest," Stitch said behind me, eyes closed as I couldn't believe that the man I knew as Perseus...was below my feet, resting in peace...just below them. "He wasn't Perseus anymore but his real name is never known...even you didn't know his real name,"
"Perseus was never a single person...but an idea..." I reminded myself of that while having my eyes shut...this thing I seemed to have forgotten for a long time...more than just a person. "If he wasn't Perseus anymore, you are...right?" I supposed, opening my eyes which drifted towards him...a nod went to confirm my words.
"When his cancer appeared, he chose me over Wraith to lead the Collective, seeing only chaos in her...I didn't want anything bad to happen to Verdansk," He explained, slightly turning his face away to get on the other side of the grave. "I swore to protect my people...our people from suffering from the wars that cost millions of lives...destroyed houses and all of this because of leaders that can't control right," He told me, his voice almost going for an angry tone but his calm behavior was the main thing to be heard in it.
"And yet, you created a mortal gas, used this program of that Dragovich to turn some of my friends into your soldiers, and used a nuclear bomb to destroy a mountain and you're telling me it's for protecting the Russian people?" I protested at him, not believing his words to protect Russia...doing all of this isn't the right thing to do. "It's bullshit,"
"It's too late for apologies and even...I don't think I'll apologize for that," Stitch exclaimed with a breath, his eyes over the grave, his left hand on it. "My life took a tragic turn in Rebirth Island and it was too late to drift away to a normal life," He added, his other hand moving over his left one. "I lost...everything that was dear to me...did you face the pain of losing your loved one?" He asked and even no one died...I had to nod due to what I faced in my life.
"I know that pain, Stitch but it won't..."
"My wife died in the gulag," Stitch interrupted me in my words, probably not having heard me but his own words make me stop as I could see him move his left sleeve to make me look at a tattoo...a shape of a woman. "She was the purest person of my life but someone decided to kill her during a riot...it made me into what I am," He said to me, looking at his tattoo before he put his sleeve back in place. "And in a few minutes, I don't even know if I will see her again...I led a life of fighting an enemy that made me into this man...I tried my best to redeem myself but my old me died when she died," He took a deep breath, passing his right hand under his hood like me, I was trying to process the whole thing.
"You didn't think that you could redeem yourself?" He shook his head. "And Sonya? Do you think they could?" He nodded to me.
"They didn't deserve that life & yet, I got them here...I knew that it was them who helped you escape 3 months ago, no need to prove the contrary," He revealed to me but I was staying cautious about his words, trying to know if it was the truth or lies.
"You're gonna make me think that you cared about me?" I supposed by hearing him.
"No, I didn't care one second about you, I was never your friend, same for you but I let it happen because something told me...I forgot...I just let this happen,"  He affirmed, sounding true in his tone...at least, he was clear with me as I was with him. "You won't believe me in a part of what I said but we both know that Perseus will live on without me, someone else will lead this idea," He presumed, rolling his eyes towards the sunset between the trees near us.
"I'll be sure that Perseus dies once & for all," I assumed but Stitch only shook his head at my words.
"You either die a hero or live long enough to see yourself become the villain," He declared, his eyes drifting towards me, looking sure of something. "You claimed that you don't believe Perseus' ideas but one day...you will and you'll understand our choices,"
"No," I said with a normal voice.
"You'll see one day, maybe in years but you'll see, mark my words,"  He continued into putting this idea into my head before he started to look up in the sky, both of us hearing the sounds of a helicopter flying over us. "Here he is...coming to finish his mission, his vendetta," He suggested alongside me, thinking that Adler was coming here too as I was seeing the helicopter starting to land on the other side of the tree line. "You should leave now, this is between me & him,"
"Why?"
"You know well, don't ask," He told me, giving me a look behind his mask before he starts to turn around to face the grave in the same position before I came here. "Return to your loved ones and leave me to face my end...I don't need you to bargain for me, it won't work," He ordered, very sure in his tone about that, and for me, I couldn't leave him alone facing Adler sure of his fate but I wasn't in a position to do anything against his wish so...I found myself obliged to leave and I could only do that. "Grigoriev?"
"Yes?" I stopped myself after doing three steps away, not turning around to look at him.
"After all, maybe you didn't deserve all of this," Stitch declared in a deep voice, the same tone he used when I came here...he was right but how he was right?..."Goodbye, tell Sonya I'm sorry," He added with a sigh, me turning my head around to see him facing that grave again...
"Goodbye," I murmured in a low voice, closing my eyes for a few seconds and feeling a bit sad before I resign myself to slowly walking away from him, leaving him to his inevitable fate, unable to convince him of the contrary and even, he was right, nothing would have worked...
It's with a bit of that sadness that I left him...walking into my tracks to get back to the Duga Array base and join Park & the others...I didn't deserve all of this...he was right but how?...maybe I should have died in Solovetsky three years ago but something didn't want that to happen and now, I'm finding myself living a new chance at life...but it wasn't going to be easy. I needed to readapt myself to a normal life but when I face my demons, I know that it will take a long time before it happens...I need to focus on the present and try to bury my past...and a part of it was going to be buried as I want to hope...
When I got over the tree line, the same helicopter I saw earlier was landed and from that distance, I was able to see...Woods, Mason...& Hudson standing next to the helicopter and then, my eyes went on the man walking alone towards me...Adler himself....Stitch was right about him and me, seeing him after all this time since we got here...it gave me more disgust at him than to Stitch, knowing what happened here....I walked down that tree line and it was sure that Adler would talk as I passed next to him...
"Yirina," I got it right when the second I got behind him at his right that he called me out in a clear voice, prompting me to stop walking and close my eyes for a few seconds. "Thank you," He told me in a normal voice
"What?" I turned around to face him, saying this in a low voice. "Thank you what?" I asked him, almost angry in my voice.
"You got me to Stitch," He gestured towards the tree line but what was angering me the most in him was...he wasn't sounding to care about what he has done to everyone, to this city. "That bastard is gonna pay and tell me where's Perseus," He added.
"You don't care at all about anything," I muttered, my right hand getting close to my holster, ready to take out my M1911 off it... He was also armed with his pistol in hand. "You don't realize yourself the state of your actions, always for the greater good...bullshit," I argued, thinking of making him pay for his crimes and maybe give him a chance for Stitch to live but...it wasn't worth it and I was alone here..."Destroying a city to get one man,"
"It was the only way to stop..."
"They cared about those citizens more than you, you spilled blood over the streets, that's the only thing you did," I harshly interrupted him, shaking my head before I decide to take out my M1911 but not shoot him. "I'll give you something you gave me...three years ago," I told him, moving my left hand towards my gun to pull the mag out of it and then, remove one of the last two bullets I got. "You gave me a bullet in Solovetsly, I'm giving it back to you," I handed him this bullet at him, and without hesitation from him even a bit concerned, he got his hand opened for the bullet I put over it. "I'm done with you, you're nothing to me now and...if I see you again, this bullet...will end in your head," I warned him, pulling the mag back into the gun and then, back into its holster, seeing this gesture as a way to close my past over Adler but keeping my deep hatred for him.
"You...you can't do that," He said, a bit troubled towards me, turning away to leave him alone to do his business..."Yirina!" He started to call me out loudly to make me come back but I didn't turn around.
"Do what you have to do...and leave me alone," I ordered him in a clear voice, not stopping in my walk and I wasn't regretting my choice, not giving one sign of respect over his past actions and the man he is...he doesn't deserve any goodbye from me...Adler was no one for me anymore...but my hatred stays...
I couldn't bring myself to say one more word to that man as I was walking away from him and even if Woods, Mason & Hudson were here, I didn't want to chat with them and stay with them, just giving them a little wave & head gesture before walking past the helicopter to get back to the radar base and meet the others, the trio not trying anything to stop into my walk and I think they respected my choice to not say anything to them for the moment, leaving me to enter that forest again, walking over that same path I used before.
I didn't turn my head around to look behind me and I wasn't going to do that, not stopping to walk at a slow pace and...I stopped myself for a short moment to think again...I was thinking that...I was done...I know that the Perseus' threat was still here but now, the only thing I wanted was to try to live a life that I couldn't have before and forget part of my past and what got me here and it's inside that forest and after a few seconds I resumed my walk that a loud bang was heard away...coming from behind me...I knew what happened but I wasn't going to turn around anymore...it was done...finished...for the moment...
I continued to walk a little to get back to the base, passing through the same place I faced her minutes ago, no one was around, and then, I saw none other than Sonya themselves coming into my direction from the base, their face looking aware of what happened...
"Sonya..." I started.
"No need to, Grigoriev," They shook their head, not wanting to hear anything. "I don't want to hear anything about it, what's done is done," They said, having a look away at the direction I came from. "Your friend Lazar is safe but Dedov...he managed to flee..." They revealed to me...getting me sad that this happened...what Zasha wanted...was their brother back..."I'm sorry," They apologized.
"It's...okay," I tried to say, looking down at my feet. "You're leaving?"
"Your other friends saw me as Stitch's sibling and I won't hand over myself...Bellamy already fled before I could do too...you should get back to your friends, I don't need anyone," They explained to me, already shaking their heads again as if they were aware of what I was going to say and I have left again with no choices but to comply to their demand. "Grigoriev, thank you for everything," One of their hands moved in front for a shake, causing me to do the same and going for a small shake before we broke it down, both preparing to go on our way...
"Good luck, Sonya...maybe we'll meet again," I supposed.
"I doubt that but thank you,' They said with a grin on their face before they passed next to me, going to leave this place & this city forever and Sonya...was the only person I could look at walking away...thinking maybe that one day...we'll meet again...all the way...it was done...it was time for me to move on...
Time to move on...and go home...

----------------------------------------------------------------------
It was the moment I was doubting for since I put my feet back on Verdansk's soil...the moment I was waiting for...the day that we have a chance to stop the Perseus Collective once & for all, to avoid a real Nova-6 attack on the city was now here...for good. It was long to wait for a full day to have it happen but now...here we are...everyone geared up & ready to fight, silently walking inside a forest at least 400 meters from the Duga Array base...everyone was ready...everything needed to go out to plan...the afternoon was going to end...the mission was going to start...
At first, last day, we thought that our attempts into making the CIA & the KGB put their differences aside would not work and that we will have to do it on our own but it happened that it worked pretty well...for a good & simple reason: the KGB officer in charge in Verdansk was none other than Dimitri Belikov himself...the same man that got me the way to leave the USSR months ago...his gratitude went to our help and of course, during the last evening, Sims, still in charge at the CIA's HQ informed us that the unbelievable alliance was created but for only one day, the KGB going off books here...it was enough to give us a good chance to eliminate every Perseus soldiers...& save our friends.
On our walk, my mind was preoccupied with all of my thoughts, trying to know what was going to happen, if we are going to succeed, die trying to save the city and our future. Each one of us wasn't going to turn our feet around, the risks were too high to do that, and everyone have a reason to give the fight straight to Perseus...friends, justice, revenge, hope, freedom...everyone has something, even Bellamy...Park, Zasha, Portnova, Viktoria, Sonya, Bellamy & me...7 people trying their best to do the impossible, it was the day everything will change...the end...maybe...
"Okay, everything knows what to do?" We stopped to gather around in a circle, wanting to see the last details as Park spoke up first, having taken the leadership of the group for the mission. "Portnova, Viktoria, you know where to go?" She demanded, the two going to be the two staying outside.
"I know a point of view over the base, it should be good to lay down until the attack is given," Viktoria nodded, holding in her hands an XM4, another gun of her arsenal. "What's gonna be the signal to launch the attack?" She asked something everyone was unclear on what to do here, the communication has been a bit hard to understand how to proceed.
"Wait 5 minutes after we got in then launch the order to the CIA-KGB task force," I replied to her, giving us a window of 5 minutes max to stop Stitch from the inside...5 minutes...
"5 minutes...Stitch could simply order to kill you all if he sees you," Bellamy commented.
"He won't," Sonya stepped in against Bellamy.
"And why that?" Bellamy narrowed his eyes at them before he made a face of realization, half-surprised, half-unchanged about Sonya, Stitch's sibling. "Do you think it could work?"
"It will work," Sonya affirmed before turning their eyes back at me & Park, looking curious. "Five minutes, it will be enough?"
"We need to know exactly some things before we can strike them so yeah, it's enough," I admitted, unsure to know if 5 minutes is going to be long to know everything but we needed to try. "We should get ready to go now, we can't waste any more minutes to discuss here," I added, looking over my shoulder as the base was in that direction behind me. "Portnova, Viktoria,"
"I'm ready," Portnova breathed, a little nod coming from her before she turned to look at Zasha, seeing them with their eyepatch before she went to blow a kiss on their right cheek, a grin on her face after it. "Stay safe, okay?"
"I will, Yiri," Zasha whispered, eye closed looking down before reopening it again, letting out a sigh. "Good luck," They said, almost with a broken tone in their voice.
"Come on, Portnova, let's go," Viktoria ordered, prompting Portnova to slowly move away from Zasha, the two unable to look away from each other before they broke eye contact after Portnova & Viktoria disappeared behind some trees.
"Okay...okay," Park passed her hand through the hair going out of her black beanie as she turned her body around to face the direction of the base. "We can't fail this...Bellamy...you're ready?"
"I am," Bellamy responded but his curiosity betrayed him by looking at his face, wanting to propose something if I can get it right. "Uhm...may I suggest something?"
"What?" Sonya sighed.
"Well, even if I 'captured' you..." He started, even mimicking some quotations marks with his fingers. "It wouldn't work too well if you still have your guns on you, mainly those rifles & submachine guns," He pointed out at each gun we were holding in our hands. "So, you should dispose of those big guns somewhere, just keeping the necessary with you,"
"So, what? We came here with stuff just to throw it away?" Zasha protested, a bit nervous. "It ain't with my fists that I'm fighting,"
"I said the big guns, you can keep your pistols, knives & your grenades," Bellamy clarified himself with an annoyed tone, everyone of us except him started to look at each other, realizing that he was right...we couldn't go in with those guns in our hands...I was the first one to be convinced by softly dropping my MP5 on the ground at my feet, soon followed by the others. "Good," Bellamy commented, seeing us complying with his suggestion.
"Now...it's your role to come over," Park affirmed, giving an eye towards Bellamy after she dropped her MP5 too next to mine, positioning herself to become a 'prisoner'. "An advice: don't have too much pleasure in that," She advised him, moving her hands behind her head, beginning her act before I do the same, looking forwards.
"Okay, it looks good," Bellamy said, surely watching how we were looking before we saw Sonya & Zasha, both having their hands behind their heads passing through us to get in front and then...I could feel the cannon of Bellamy's gun on my back, at my waist. "Now, move...or I'll shoot you four!" He ordered in a raised voice before its gun cannon made me move forward, going on a walk as a prisoner with Bellamy as the man who captured us...the mission was starting...
It was surely, in all of those months of fighting since I woke up from that coma, the riskiest mission we were going to do...it wasn't like in the American mall, not like in Algeria, not like here in June...not like in West-Berlin or in that gulag...it was more than just that, it was the mission that will tell if Perseus will fall and its threat fully neutralized...or the mission we will fail and that will allow Perseus to live on over us...using ourselves as prisoners to get in was the most dangerous way to get things done but it was our only way...
When we left the forest part to walk over the road leading to the base, this was the real moment where anything could happen to the four of us, we could be shot at by snipers from afar defending the base, Portnova & Viktoria could be spotted before we got in, the attack could start at any moment if something goes wrong...anything could happen and the stress was higher at each step on that road towards the base, not helped by Bellamy's act, his main focus was to get his rifle cannon at my back...
The base's entrance was in our sight after a long minute of walk, seeing the defense of the base from afar and causing me, Park, Sonya & Zasha to be prepared for anything, starting to show the expressions of the anger at being captured on our faces as we were getting close to the base...the soldiers in charge of it at the entrance were numerous and it would have been impossible to do it if we didn't have any support from the CIA and the KGB...
"Hands up!" A soldier posted near the gates shouted towards us as other soldiers were moving at us, their guns up...all fully geared to fight..."Who are you?" The same man asked.
"Bellamy Petrov at your service,"  Bellamy presented himself with a clean voice as he passes next to me to walk at the soldier who was shouting.
"Petrov? Stitch told us you were dead," The soldier was sounding confused at this, same for us even if we managed to hide it. "Where were you?"
"I was trying to capture a squad tasked to get us," Bellamy replied, pointing his hand at the four of us, the other soldiers moving in a circle to get around us. "I was able to get them in an abandoned building near the stadium, they got separated from their HQ," He went on, giving out a lie and keeping a cool attitude....let's keep it cool...Zasha was a bit stressed but they managed to stay cool...
"You've been tracking them for five days?" The soldier asked, looking curious & mostly confused. "I know that some of us are getting crazy here, don't tell me you got this too," The soldier added.
"Nah, those people were HVTs for Stitch, he tasked me to get them for him, he couldn't tell that publicly" Bellamy admitted, noticing that his tone was seeming less cool than before...as if it wasn't sure here...stay cool..."I even got his sibling back," He scoffed, gesturing his head at Sonya who was just one meter from him.
"Fuck you, Bellamy," Sonya cursed before Bellamy give a sign to a nearby soldier next to them, and then, with the stock of their gun, the soldier strikes down Sonya at their chest...a little strike as it wasn't enough to get Sonya on their knees.
"I'm bringing them to Stitch," Bellamy said, rubbing his gloves together after leaning his gun a few moments against his leg.
"You're sure?" The soldier demanded. "Wraith ordered us that no prisoners should be taken, CIA or KGB,"
"Why that?" Bellamy demanded back at him, curious.
"You know why...what's she planning..." The soldier started to argue before something went to change in his eyes, the rest of his face hidden by a mask. "Okay, if Stitch wants them, better that he got them before the plan goes off," He told Bellamy, moving away from his path to let our group enter the place. "You might need a guard or two, right?"
"I'm good, I know how to deal with them," Bellamy gently argued towards the soldier who then got a bit suspicious of that refusal from him. "What? I got them and keep them still for an hour, I should be good," He defended himself before the soldier let out a loud sigh at Bellamy, stepping aside enough to let us.
"Go on but watch out," The soldier suggested to Bellamy before the gates started to open in front of us, Bellamy moving back behind me to keep his rifle cannon at my back to get us moving...we walked some meters inside the base...the main building at least 50 meters from us...a big radar installation...soldiers walking around...
"Good job," I whispered at Bellamy at my back.
"Yeah but we're not inside yet so shut up and stay still until you face that one-eyed bastard, will you?" He ordered with a now nervous tone in his voice, his cannon going a bit higher in my back, near my left lung.
"Nervous?" I murmured.
"Shut up," He repeated, making a tap at my neck with his rifle to keep me quiet before I looked at Park, one of her hands freely moving towards her radio to activate...she was the only one with a radio in our group, Viktoria was the second one..."If you open your mouth once before we meet Stitch, I shoot you," He warned me and his threats could be real with his voice, reinforced by his gun as we were getting closer to the building.
"Okay...everyone's keeping his cool...we're going in," Park murmured to us, a little grin went to me as we were both scared about each other, fearing the worst...
Bellamy went to speak to the guards in front of the building and if those were a bit more skeptical than the guards at the entrance, they allowed him to get inside the building with us only and it was at the moment we got inside that the 5 minutes started...5 minutes where we needed to know some details...if Stitch were going to give them out and work on a plan that could get us to neutralize Stitch...& Wraith...and get Lazar & Dedov back...
If Bellamy seemed a bit lost at first, he was able to find his way and during that little walk, I could feel that...something was off...not in Bellamy's attitude but towards the Perseus soldiers...no one was wearing gas masks, some of them were looking at each other with suspicions as if something happened in the past few days...something intriguing to say...Is the Collective facing internal problems due to the situation?...it was maybe something to ask...or to know...dammit...the more I was walking inside that building, the more I was stressed...
Finally, I managed to keep my stress inside of me when we arrived near a room, passing through a little group of soldiers before we got into that room...a control room with a view over Verdansk...seeing in front of that panel...Stitch with next to him, Freya...and in both sides of the room...Lazar on a side...Dedov in another...both wearing Perseus uniform...
"You son of a..." Zasha was the first one that tried to speak-outs their head looked over Stitch but Bellamy went to stop them by giving a small blow behind their back with his elbow, causing Zasha to almost fall on their knees...
"Must be the voice of Krypto," Stitch suggested in a low voice, hands on the control panel before he started to turn around to face us...the same black outfit...the same face..."Not alone...Sonya...Grigoriev...and Helen Park," He said each of our names and Park's name...caused Freya to look around too...wearing that combat suit she was having...back in West-Berlin...a black mash on her face...
"You...you weren't supposed to be here," She pointed her hand towards me, sounding tense in her voice, moving off the control panel...me trying to look at Lazar, unresponsive, blank stare at us..."You were supposed to die in that place," She added.
"I lived," I said before she got in front of me, seeing her brown eyes filled with incomprehension & terror at my sight. "You tried to fuck us again, you forced us to kill our soldiers,"
"I did what was necessary," She defended herself on this, something that caused Lazar to move a little from his spot. "You weren't supposed to be here, to see it happening but here you are...and worst of all...you came with her," She turned her head at Park, her eyes showing signs of anger just by looking at Park. "You...this Madam Shell...she should have cut your head off years ago,"
"Don't tempt me," Park silently warned her, even making a step forwards at Freya...Park wasn't looking scared at all, she wasn't playing her game here...
"It's enough, Wraith," Stitch ordered at her, both of his fists clenching. "Dedov, what's the situation with our men?" He asked.
"Our groups in the city are doing okay, they occupied most of the strategic points," Dedov replied without any hesitation at Stitch who nodded.
"Listen to yourself, Dedov, that ain't you!" Zasha protested in a voice that could break down at any moment. "They're manipulating..."
"Shut up, Krypto," Bellamy interrupted them again, another strike at their back which, this time, caused Zasha to fall on their right knee. "You ain't..."
"No need to play that game, Bellamy," Stitch suddenly cut him too, a tone that could describe something worse...something that could say that Stitch wasn't buying his act..."I know well of your hatred against me...Wraith," He revealed, having seen through Bellamy's act before Freya kicked Bellamy at his left knee, enough for him to fall on his back between Sonya & Zasha, letting go of his gun...
"What the fuck? I'm with Perseus!" Bellamy shouted, moving his hands at his legs
"You betrayed Perseus," Lazar spoke up in a deep voice, arms crossed as Freya got her pistol pointed towards Bellamy's head.
"Bullshit," Bellamy mumbled.
"Lazar, you ain't with Perseus," I tried to do the same as Zasha with Dedov but it was the same thing...unsuccessful..."They brainwashed you with that crap!" I added...again...
"It won't work, Grigoriev," Dedov said in a clear voice, hands behind his back as he slowly walk towards us... looking at all of us. "The West abandoned him...as I was abandoned too by my family...my friends, we gave him a new purpose," He explained as if it was true...it wasn't true...we never abandoned everyone...
"You made him done the worst thing he could do: turning his back to us," Park told him, almost going to point her finger at Dedov.
"He made his choice clear...and so do you, Sonya," Stitch went on, drifting to give a look to Sonya who didn't speak too much since we got in.
"It wasn't the life I wanted, Vikhor!" Sonya argued, sounding a bit angry in their voice. "You forced me into that life, to do things I didn't want to do...do you think our parents would have approved of that?"
"Don't you dare!" Stitch raised his voice against them along with his finger. "Don't put our parents in that discussion, you made your choice by working with the West...you chose them...over me!"
"They don't try to kill me every day unlike the Collective...to be with a...Norwegian psychopath," Sonya declared and those words caused Freya to change the direction of her gun to aim it behind Sonya's head, Lazar taking her role to aim Bellamy on the ground with a pistol...dammit, Lazar, don't..."You are crazy, brother, why do you want to attack Verdansk with Nova-6?"
"Attack Verdansk? What are you talking about?" Stitch's surprise in this voice was...strange...something that maybe he never thought...what's happening..."Why would I attack a city I tried to save?"
"What do you mean he..."
"Shut up," Freya interrupted me, her gun changing again direction to aim at my face...a sudden change that was making Stitch...confused. Instead of showing scare at Freya's gun, I went to look at it, unfazed.
"Nova-6 barrels all over the city rigged to blow up at any moment," Park explained, Freya, changing again...something was wrong and Freya was in the middle of it...
"I never worked on..." Stitch stopped himself before he starts to drift his eyes towards...Dedov...not seem happy. "You...you know how to make that Nova-6...tell me what's going on...NOW!" His voice wasn't sounding proud but ashamed...Lazar was...sharing that...feeling while Freya & Dedov remained unfazed at Stitch's words...those two were doing something...
"Stitch?" Lazar called him out, his hands looking unsure to continue to aim at Bellamy.
"We're doing what Perseus believed in," Freya spoke up, her muffled voice behind her mask seeming to speak something worse...worse for all of us..."You didn't want to use the only way to destroy Perseus' enemies...we will use it," She explained, one of her hands moving towards her vest to grab a...detonator..."One button...and the gas is released...and goodbye to our enemies,"
"Not the civilians!" Stitch pointed out at her, almost screaming.
"There are no innocents, Stitch," Freya told him, showing him off the detonator while I took a short look at Park...the clock was ticking faster than we thought...and we just discovered that it wasn't Stitch but...Freya & Dedov are behind the plan to attack Verdansk...them...Zasha's brother..."I showed Dedov the true way...you just helped him see better," She added, giving a little nod towards Dedov.
"Dedov, don't do this," Zasha murmured.
"You abandoned me, Zasha, don't tell me what to do!" Dedov ordered at them, pulling out his pistol to aim it at Zasha's head...
"We need to do it," I managed to whisper those words out of my lips to Park, who gave me a nod before gesturing towards my vest...a flashbang grenade on it...a chance to get out of that...
"What's that?" Lazar panicked when the building started to shake before an explosion went to be heard outside....the assault has begun...
"NOW!" Park shouted at me, reacting quickly to pull off the flashbang out of my vest and unpin it before throwing it in the middle of everyone in the room, directly putting my arms in front of my face while turning my upper body away from the flash got heard.
At this moment, when I removed my arms off my face, I could see Lazar & Dedov who got affected by the flashbang, looking in pain with their hands on their face...Sonya also got touched by it as they were leaned forwards, holding their face before my eyes went to meet the cannon of Freya's pistol...her finger ready to pull the trigger before another explosion, closer than the last one, caused Freya to move her pistol away from my face due to the shake, me, Park & Zasha moving to break our act and finally attack...
Zasha went to go on Dedov while Park goes on Lazar... I went over Freya by first trying to remove her hands off her gun but she was the first one to give me a strike by headbutting me with her mask on, making me fall on the ground, feeling my nose bleed out due to that strike in the middle of my face and that mask. But, instead of finishing what she started and pulling a bullet in me, Freya looked over the room and then, fleed away from the room...she can't escape...
"She has the detonator!" Park said loudly as she was struggling with Lazar who was on the ground while Zasha was fighting with his brother against a wall...Stitch nowhere to be seen..."Stop her, we'll take them!" She ordered to me and I nodded, impossible to let Freya get away and start that attack on her own...the CIA & KGB along with Viktoria & Portnova were striking the place...
"I'm on her!" I affirmed, passing my hand below my nose before getting up the floor, grabbing my M1911 in the process, and then, I started to run away from the room with the only goal to stop Freya...
I left the room and looked over the direction we came from...the path was blocked by debris that fell in between, I then looked the other way, seeing the shape of Freya running in a corner away from me, prompting me to run as fast I could to catch her, my M1911 in my right hand. My head was hurting me from that headbutt but my senses were still okay, I was able to know what path Freya took to flee from us...a part of my head wanted to be sure that Park & Zasha are okay in that room but I needed to stay focus...
As I was continuing to run against Freya in a building that was under attack along with the base, I knew that Freya wasn't going to take the front entrance, seeing her running in the opposite direction to get out by a different exit. During my run against her, I met only Perseus soldiers that tried to get in my way but were soon silenced and unable to react with three well-placed bullets with my pistol...making it to 4 bullets now...
Then, the pursuit continued outside the building when I saw Freya getting out of here, taking a side door before running fast inside a nearby forest but I couldn't let her go away with that detonator...letting her just go away...I ran as fast as I could...more than I did inside that damn building to catch her and in at least 20 seconds, I managed to catch her and tackle her down as she was going to faint me behind a tree...
"Fuck off, Yirina...Leave me alone!" She shouted at me in Norwegian as I was getting over to try to get my hands on the detonator she was still holding in her hands.
"Stop!" I ordered her before she used one of her knees to strike me in the back, a hard hit that got me off her, and my finger, unfortunately, pulled the trigger of my M1911...3 bullets...."AAAAAAHHHH!" I then screamed in pain when a knife entered my left arm near my shoulder, Freya has taken the occasion to stab me in that place before I tried to get up, that knife having stayed in my arm.
"You should have died in that mall!" Freya taunted me as she was getting up on her feet, looking exhausted before she decides to remove her mask off her face...nothing was changing..."Less, I should have killed you back in that plane!" She corrected herself as...as the pain in my left arm was hurting me so much when I was able to get on my feet, my right hand still with the M1911. "You betrayed me...I lost that Yirina who believed in me!"
"I did believe in you...but...but...you didn't believe in me!" I growled, slowly moving my right hand towards my left arm, wanting to pull out that knife off me...I could feel the blade pulling out inside of my arm...making me more harm than good. "You...you want me to believe in you because you're forcing me to do so..."
"I did believe in you...but you chose them over me!" She protested, pointing at herself with her hands...both free of anything...the detonator...it's between her feet on the ground..."The West harmed you!"
"You harmed me more than them," I argued back, my eyes slowly moving towards the detonator...and getting ready. "And now..." I could see her head going down...realizing that the detonator was at her feet. "It's over!" I exclaimed, aiming down to that detonator and firing one bullet against it and it was almost long for me...before the detonator broke in pieces by that bullet...one second of it being recovered by Freya..."It's over now," I muttered, keeping the gun up at the same spot...realizing that I saved Verdansk from her...from the Nova-6...it's done..."It's over," I repeated.
"You...why...you...why did you do this?" She asked me, falling on her knees, looking down at the broken detonator. "I was going to free..."
"You were going to kill civilians, families...not on my watch!" I cut her, not wanting to hear that bullshit anymore for her mouth. "You harmed me, you hurt people that I care about...you changed my friends into...murderers...you tried to kill me!" My voice was almost in the urge of breaking down, thinking about everything she did against me. "I tried to save you, to get you on my side but instead, you got blinded by those ideals...you...you're a monster!"
"I tried...so hard...but...you too...blinded by that loyalty...to that Crown...to that agent...to those who changed you!" She told me, raising her head back at me like the hammer of my M1911 was down, ready to shoot.
"They opened my eyes," I admitted, taking a step closer to her, getting the gun aimed between her eyes.
"So...if they opened your eyes...shoot me," She silently ordered me in a whisper, looking ready to be shot. "Please, shoot me, Yirina, show me you got your eyes opened," She added towards me, closing her eyes and...no...even after everything...after what she did...she wasn't worth saving...but she wasn't worth killing...she was maybe close to me...but she changed too much...I only got to put up the hammer of my M1911...decided...I won't kill her...but I won't save her...
"No...no...you're gonna live with what you did," I supposed, lowering my gun off her head..."You became a monster...and I can't let you come..." I closed my eyes for a few seconds while taking a deep breath...getting sure of my choice here and not wanting to regret it at all. "I'll let you go...but now, you'll disappear from my life,"
"You can't do that," Freya pleaded, sounding emotional in her voice. "I love you!"
"No...you don't," I opened back my eyes, shaking my head at those words. "You caused me too much harm that I'll never qualify this as love...never," I affirmed my thoughts here, unable to let her a chance to redeem herself at me...she did enough..."Leave me, Park, my friends, alone...don't fight me because if we meet each other again...I'll kill you," I then drifted my body around on the side, looking in a direction...the sun starting to set down over the region, its rays between the trees...
"Stitch...Stitch left to meet with Perseus...in that direction," Freya then raised her hand in the same direction I was looking at. "You want to talk to him...he's the lesser evil...go talk to him..." She demanded at me in her low voice and that's the only thing...well, I was mixed to talk with Stitch but it was the last person that wasn't caught...and we needed him..."Go now...forgive me...go," She murmured as I was having my eyes on her.
"You hurt me so much, Freya," I said but this time, I said it in Norwegian...Du såret meg så mye...it was enough to have her look back down at her knees...going to cry..."Goodbye, Freya...goodbye," I took another deep breath before I start to walk in that direction where Stitch was but I had to get a last look over her...I could hear the first cries from her...but it was too late...she broke my heart...I couldn't step back, it was hurting me to do that but I had no choice...I couldn't give a smile before I resumed my walk, seeing for the last time the woman I knew as Freya Helvig...the one I once loved...turning my back to hear her distant cries, a small tear on my face falling down as I was trying to think of something else...
We did the impossible today...but it wasn't finished...one more step...one more...

Small chapter but I hope you like it!
----------------------------------------------------------------------
My life was filled with promises...a lot of them, taking care of Park, trying to stay alive, to come back home, London...and to find Lazar & bring him back to our side. This was all of my goals now and I was certain that I needed to make all of this happen. I'm taking care of Park, I'll try to stay alive and come back home to Zasha & Portnova and I'll surely get Lazar back. I just want to live on and get a life I never managed to get before...hard to think about this in the situation we're all facing at the moment.
We may have gotten out of Teusfelberg alive but we're still wearing the wounds of that place and our thoughts were all shocked about our actions even if we were forced to do the impossible. Everyone was tired and we were all living with a fear that at any moment, Perseus' soldiers could storm the safehouse and kill us but Hudson proclaimed high & loud that the place was safe since Perseus believed this place was abandoned months ago so if it's happening, we know who to blame but I think that even now, it wasn't time to get on each other's nerves and try to get out of this situation...
Due to my state, I wasn't really able to work on decrypting messages, and even if my body wasn't hurt, the radios...everything that could have helped me to work was shut down, seeming that Perseus' mission in the city was over, a long silence over the frequencies we used to get the messages, nothing that could have been intercepted. The others were in the same group as me and honestly, we preferred to get out minds ready & prepared instead of trying to...do things that are unnecessary at the moment, only our side can tell us what we can do now.
Over the day, I went to get a rest two times, one time after eating at noon and one in the middle of the afternoon and it was always Park who woke me up and got me to see the others from time to time, talking to Woods about how he was feeling about everything who was always accompanied by Liliya, Katinka to...try to know about myself but she wasn't very talkative and Park a few times, Hudson was mostly trying on his side to know more and in the evening of that day, he & Woods left the safe house for a while...private discussion as I heard...
"Thinking?" Park's peaceful voice broke me out of my thoughts as I heard her next to me while I was sitting on my chair at my post. She was standing with a cup of coffee, we just finished eating.
"Yeah...a bit," I muttered, taking the cup she was handing to me.
"About what?" She demanded me, moving aside to grab her chair not far from me.
"You know...about everything & nothing," I briefly resumed my thoughts to her, coming back with her chair held by one before posing it softly next to me. "What's going to happen in the future,"
"And what do you think about it?" She asked me, sitting on her chair, her body turned at me.
"Listen...we're trying already to get out of this shitty situation so, you know," I replied, mainly thinking about just surviving through this week before the years to follow. "I'm worried about how it will look like but I know that it will be maybe worth it," I added with a shrug before moving my lips to taste that coffee...feeling it...CIA coffee doesn't surpass the MI6 one...not Park's fault.
"Yiri?" Park murmured, moving closer to me on her chair, her face looking curious and worried at the same time...her wounds on it were giving a scared feeling.
"Yes?" I removed the cup from my lips
"After all of this...what will you do? Stay at the MI6? Leave?" She questioned me, worried about this, I was understanding her pain to know, I told her that it was too early and it was still the case now. "I'm following you in any case,"
"No...you won't leave the MI6 for me, it's too much to ask," I said with a little shake of my head. "MI6 is like...those who made you and...you made me, I owe you for letting me & Zasha...Portnova has a chance," I posed the coffee in the desk in front of me as I was telling her this. "I don't want you to turn your back on the MI6 and now, I'm loyal to the MI6 and you,"
"You're sure?" She chuckled, a nod from me.
"You gave me a chance, a chance of having a life I was removed from in my youth..." I told her before stopping to take a little breath, trying to not feel the pain of my wounds on the face below the dressings. "If I can be with you forever, I'm staying in the MI6, I don't want to make you leave it," I assured her as she slightly turn her body around, looking down on her lap "Park...I mean it," I said, my hands drifting on her shoulder to stop her and make her look at me. "I don't care about what happened, you made me and you saved me...you owe me & I owe you...we're both alike, in love," I affirmed, her slowly getting her head up to look back at me.
"Thanks...it's meaning a lot," She whispered, starting to make a little smile with her lips. "It's just that...I'm really worried about you, since last night and...you mean a lot to people," She was sounding true but for me, I didn't want to be a leader or someone too important here, everyone is important to me. "I talked to Woods before he left with Hudson, he told me to keep an eye on you, even if you were looking like him,"
"Like him?" I scoffed.
"Yeah...' nobody can kill her ' as he said," She said with a little laugh. "Making an impact to Woods is meaning a lot," She added, and this...I didn't know if it was true, Woods always seemed to be a nice guy, I saw him a little on his sensitive side but...it's great. "Even me didn't manage to do that," She then snorted as I removed my hands off her shoulders and her, getting her back on her chair rest. "I think I know why,"
"Yeah...no need to talk about it anymore," I assumed of what she was referring to, I remember Woods & Mason being pretty pissed off at learning that the day I revealed myself after being 'dead' for three years "I just want to focus on the future and...getting everyone out of danger," I added...
"Yirina!" Then, a voice went to speak up across the safe house, it was Liliya who was where the phones lines were located.
"Yes?" I spoke up, turning my head to her.
"I got someone who wants to talk to you," She said and at this, I narrowed my eyes at Park and then got up slowly from my chair, picking up my curiosity on who wanted to speak to me. "It's a certain Portnova from London, it's urgent apparently," She revealed and it directly caused me to walk at her....shit, it's been since...we left Algeria that we didn't call Zasha & Portnova in London...
"I'm taking it," I affirmed to Liliya who nodded at me before she handed me the phone she was holding, grabbing it in my hands and putting it at my right ear. "Hello?"
"Oh thank god, you're here, I didn't think that you'll be here, and honestly, I thought the worst," I was greeted by the voice of a worried Portnova through the voice and she was speaking very fast & loud. "Watch out, Beans, you're going to make me fall," She said.
"Hey, Portnova, you're alright?" I asked her, facing the wall at the moment as I could feel Park's gaze on me from across the safe house.
"Yeah...no...why...should I be alright now? No, I'm not!" She replied to me, her voice speeding up and...shit, how she was sounding, it wasn't pleasant to think of. "You hear right? Do I sound okay? I'm not..."
"Hey, hey, slow down, will you?" I advised her, making a slight gesture with my left hand as a means to calm her down...even if she wasn't seeing it...not used to this. "Take a breath, okay? You don't seem okay,"
"Because I'm not okay, Yirina," She raised her voice, causing me to get my ear off the phone for a few seconds, almost like an echo inside my head...Jesus...not so loud..."Things aren't well in here,"
"Here too...don't scream, please, we're all on our nerves here," I demanded to her in a low voice, putting my left hand against the wall to hold myself. "What's going on?" I asked her.
"Zasha has been kidnapped," She revealed
"WHAT?" I spoke very loud at hearing this from her...what the...Zasha has been kidnapped...words that started echoing in my head...Zasha...I could feel everyone's look on me now..."What happened?"
"It was today...MI6 agents said that Zed was...arriving at Century House when a van stopped near them and that masked men took them, they couldn't do anything..." She started to explain this as I was seeing in my head...trying to see that situation, visualizing it..."I tried to call you & Park but I wasn't able to know...I still managed to convince someone in Century House to tell me where you are," She added, explaining how she managed to get a call in here...fuck...Zed..."I heard of what happened from the words of your director...says that it wasn't pleasant..."
"Yeah...we...fuck...Zed..." My thoughts couldn't get me to make a complete sentence after what I heard...Zasha was supposed to be safe and...here we are...Perseus got their hands on them...Stitch...it's him. "Did...did anything happen to Zasha last day? Nothing weird?" I demanded to her, worried that Zasha might get affected by this broadcast...
"No...nothing at all, it's...they were a bit more focused on work since a few days...they were having files on something...in Verdansk," She told me, unsure of herself.
"Verdansk?" I murmured.
"Yes...something dating from the war...the Second World War and interest by someone on it...I got the files at home now...what they have been working on..." She said to me everything she knows and me, I was trying to understand all of this...Verdonk...a WW2 origin and...someone interested by that...Why Verdansk?...WW2?... "They took my Zasha, I'm coming!"
"What? Here?" I demanded.
"Yes, I'm not staying here, I'm coming," She affirmed, sounding determined.
"No, wait, you can't do that!" I protested, not looking like a great idea...Zasha was in Stitch's hands...not her..."I'm not letting you do that, for your own good, and...who's going to take care of Beans?" I tried to persuade her to abandon this idea but even through the phone, I knew that she wasn't willing to see things my way.
"I have a friend who can take care of her...and no, I'm not going to wait here to know where's Zasha, I don't want to be in pain if they're dead, that's why I'm coming!" She affirmed.
"What's happening?" Park's voice came behind me, causing me to make a gesture towards her, meaning that I'll tell her once I was done trying to convince Portnova to not risk her life.
"Listen, I can do this, Portnova," I assured her but I don't know if I was really able to do this alone with Park. "And even if you're coming...not where we are now, it's...it's a no from me,"
"Why?" She asked me and instead of responding, I stayed silent, trying to not look behind me over the safe house. "Oh...I see...this place," My silence was seen as an answer to her, having made the link. "But neither less, I'm coming, I'm not staying here," She repeated.
"Portnova..." I sighed.
"What?" She said, raising a bit her voice and then...I start to think that Portnova...indeed need to come with us...Zasha was in danger and having her with us...a friend...she can be great help...
"Okay...but...not here...you can come but not here," I finally resigned to accept her, having changed my mind on it.
"But where?" She asked me and it was at this moment I could hear the garage door of the safehouse getting opened...it was Woods coming back...
"Listen, I'll talk to you later, I'll tell you, okay?" I suggested to her, thinking that Woods' talk with Hudson can help us get out of here.
"Okay...okay..." Portnova agreed and by a sound, her side hanged up as I do the same one second later...troubled by the news of Zasha getting kidnapped by Stitch...and that Portnova was coming here...
"Zasha got kidnapped...Portnova is going to come at us but...I told her that I'm not letting her here," I announced to Park who was right behind me in a low voice, she was looking...shocked too, getting scared about Zasha. "We'll talk in private about this later...let's see what Woods will say," I suggested at this, wanting to keep this for us at the moment and she slightly nodded...
We then decided to move over and get our attention on Woods who was walking inside the safehouse with everyone's gaze on him, he was all alone, no Hudson arriving through the garage door and his face...I don't know if he was bringing some good news to us but it was sure that it was something to share about...I was just not ready to know something more terrible...
"Okay...got a talk with Hudson," He started, looking at everyone around him, Katinka & Liliya next to each other while me & Park in his left side. "Bad news...Adler has been compromised,"
"How compromised?" Liliya asked him, curious.
"You remember Salah's report, Yirina?" I nodded at him about this...Salah's doubts about Adler during the events in Algeria with the satellite. "Yeah, the guys in charge of examining the report proved that it was finally clear that Adler was hiding something," He revealed, turning his eyes back to Liliya. "No one, not even that dickhead Black ordered him to go to Verdansk, he went on his own and disappeared at the most profitable moment,"
"What do you mean here?" I demanded to Woods, trying to make a link to what Wolf said to us last day...Adler disappearance during a mission with Sims...that was weird. "Wolf told us that...Adler disappeared in a mission, right?" Park slightly nodded to confirm this, soon followed by Woods.
"Yeah but here, I mean that...Adler was meant to be with us in Russia and in here...it's believed that Adler was brainwashed...since Stitch got him," It was making sense to hear that from another person other than me...Adler is someone to doubt but since he came back, he was acting stranger, as if he was having his own agenda...brainwashed...this was what they did to him...Laos...Verdansk...this was making sense all along.
"Who's the guy who cleared him to go back on the field? Why Adler didn't got any more check-ups?" Park questioned him and a simple sigh coming from Woods with a look behind him was enough for her. "Hudson?" He nodded at her.
"He thought that Adler was clean," He said.
"Just because Adler was an American...unlike us?" Katinka spoke up, gesturing around except at Woods.
"Yeah but I have other news from Hudson," He told us, putting his hands on his waist, starting to look towards Katinka & Liliya. "You two...Hudson wants you to fly over to Verdansk and help the CIA to search for Adler, he became a priority again,"
"And you? Us?" I narrowed my eyes at him, wondering why we aren't mentioned into getting Adler's ass back again...again...
"Us...I need to fly over to Alaska...Hudson wants me to find Mason again," He revealed and this made my eyes go wide...Mason in this...he has a kid. "You two...Hudson wants you to...Uhm...he wants you both in Langley,"
"Langley?" I & Park said in unison.
"Yeah...Black agreed to give the file at the condition that you go to Langley to check on it...Hudson said that Adler will be brought back to a facility in Langley and that I'll be back with Mason for it," Woods explained the situation with a face that was feeling sorry for us to hear that, it wasn't his fault but damn...going to Langley..."We need to be on the move tomorrow morning at first hour, us in the US...you two in Verdansk," He pointed out to Katinka & Liliya, who were a bit annoyed about the demands made to them but deciding to do it anyway with eyes rolling around.
"Guess we don't have many choices," I murmured with a little shrug, realizing that we can get out of here for good...shit, even if the situation can be better, there's always something that can make it worse...Zasha...shit...I don't know if Portnova would agree to go to the US...
"I know that Hudson's asking too much but we all know what's happening and the risks we're taking to get out of this situation but I think that's worth it," Woods gave out his thoughts on this as Katinka & Liliya were getting from the chair they were sitting on as me & Park look at each other, both silently agreeing to Hudson's demands, it's sure that things will change soon...I know that...
Mason knows what needs to be done...we all do...

Zasha...hearing their name since they disappeared and from Portnova's mouth, as she was sounding sure of herself about that, it was like a surprise for me as for the others too. I don't know how Portnova managed to deduce it was them but that location on that map was saying it all...now I was remembering as I was seeing that map...that square located in the middle of a forest in the city's limits, far away from any combats...it was getting clear in my head...I remembered in a few seconds of that memory with Dedov, talking with him about Zasha & Portnova going to visit their old house...in Verdansk...that location was sure to be Zasha & Dedov's old place...all clear in my head now.
That's something that was a bit tricky to explain to Viktoria as she wasn't willing to risk it all for a transmission that could be a trap but we managed to convince her into checking up on that place to see if Zasha is there, taking that risk. She was finally resigning herself to give in and allow us to take our jeep and leave the place, going in with us towards the north of Verdansk, almost passing next to the base that was used by Stitch's forces even if Viktoria started to doubt about the veracity of that information from the CIA...it wasn't our priority here, just trying to avoid any contact with the enemy.
It was Portnova who was driving the jeep for us, knowing well where we needed to go and I was in the back with Viktoria, sitting in front of each other, and during a part of that drive, I was still having her story in my head, thinking I wasn't the only one at all to face the MK-Ultra program even if she didn't go under it completely, that's something that she would have liked to keep secret and because of my curiosity, I saw a new face in front of me...she was giving little grin but the only thing she wanted now was to get things done...we all do want that...
"We should be there in a minute or two," Portnova announced, her voice breaking me out of my thoughts as she was engaging the jeep inside a forest.
"Get your guns up, we don't know what can happen," Park suggested, sitting in the front passenger seat with her MP5 on her lap before taking it in her hands
"Okay," I said, properly moving my MP5 in my hands as I was holding it by the handguard with the stock on the ground, safety off in my hands and then, I saw Viktoria, getting her hands below her to reach a box. "What's that?" I demanded, unfamiliar with this box that I had never actually seen since.
"My gun," She replied, eyes focused on the box she was pulling out between her legs before opening it, revealing a gun that was a bit odd to be seen in that period.
"An MP-40," I murmured, recognizing the famous german gun from the second world war...Viktoria raised a little her left eyebrow at me.
"I know that's odd but I like it," She affirmed, her right hand inside the box as she was holding her MP-40 in her other hand, getting some mags from the box.
"I didn't say anything, the gun is nice to say," I expressed, having a liking of that gun in front of me as Viktoria was loading one of her mags into it, putting the others on a pouch at her belt. "How did you get it?" I asked before she stopped doing anything except looking at me with narrowed eyes...my curiosity again. "Sorry," I apologized.
"It's a long story," Viktoria then spoke up, resuming her moves by putting her MP-40 on her lap, giving some eyes on it...her voice was sounding a bit low and to me, that wasn't something to be too curious on.
"I'm sorry," I repeated with the same tone as before, trying to look away from her and mostly on the dirt path that Portnova was driving us on.
"It's okay, I understand your curiosity," Viktoria admitted with a tone that was mixed as if she wasn't going to say that. "But it's better that you keep your curiosity low for a while, you know that well," She advised, gesturing with her head towards me and after earlier, I was only able to understand her words here...I should stop being curious about her and keep in good mood with her.
"What are you talking about?" Park's voice went up as she was turning her head around to look at both of us.
"Something to keep us unstressed," Viktoria replied before I could do it, a grin on her face.
"What exactly?" Park demanded but then, her blue eyes drifted towards the MP-40 that Viktoria was having on her lap. Park's face was a bit surprised before she gave a nod, biting her lips at the same time. "Old-fashioned?" She presumed.
"I can say that," Viktoria slightly shrugged at Park who then turned her head around, having guessed that it wasn't the time to ask about each other's favorite guns.
"Portnova, get the jeep somewhere hidden," Park then ordered at Portnova, pointing away to the forest at the right.
"Why?" Portnova asked.
"We should do the rest by walk, we don't know if it's Zasha or a trap," Park suggested as from afar, I was able to see a little part of a house. "So, if we do that, we would be able to see if it's true or a bait to get us," She added, Portnova being a bit unsure of that as for her, Zasha could be in that house and it was meaning a lot but she resigned herself to comply and make a slow turn inside the right side of the forest, stopping the jeep in a hidden spot from the dirt path. "Okay, let's get off," Park said, jumping out of the jeep with her MP5 in hands, the three of us doing the same quickly.
"So, how do we proceed?" I questioned Park as she was the one making the suggestions.
"Well, we will walk to that house, keeping our guns up in all directions," She started, pointing away towards the house's direction with her free hand. "We stay together, no need to separate ourselves," We nodded at her. "We leave the car. If Zasha is here, one of us is going to get the jeep closer to the house in case we need to leave," She added before she turns around in the house's direction.
"I'll do it," Viktoria proposed herself to do that and Park gave a nod as she was looking away, causing Portnova to give Viktoria the jeep keys, "Thanks,"
"Okay," I breathed.
"No time to lose," Park completed me with another breath before she took the lead of our squad, starting to walk at a slow pace towards the house, soon followed by us.
I was staying behind her, all of us keeping a good & safe distance between us, aiming our guns in all directions as Park suggested. It was a bit scary to walk into that forest...we were troubled to know if that transmission was real and coming from Zasha or a trap organized by either Perseus or the KGB but it was not possible that the latter could do that...the risk that it was a trap was still on, however, we could be walking next to soldiers camouflaged under the fallen leaves of the trees and due to that risk, extreme vigilance was our priority here.
Hopefully, for us, nothing out of the extraordinary went to happen to us during our cautious walk toward the house, keeping a strong silence between us, no one speaking for the moment until we arrived in a small dirt yard on one of the house's sides, preferring to sneak our way in from another point than using the front door but as we got close to a door leading to the house, a light went up inside the house through a window...
"Someone's here," I said in a very low voice, everyone crouching down to avoid being at the window sight below it.
"It has to be Zasha," Portnova suggested, the closest of us to that specific door.
"Portnova, we need to watch out," Park told her, seeming to share a feeling that she could take a big risk and get our cover blown and worst, get killed if it's not Zasha inside.
"It has to be them, who would be here?" Portnova protested, suggesting about the house's state, looking abandoned from the outside but now seeming to no longer be that case. "Listen, we can go in there but keep our gun up in case," She proposed.
"Yes," I affirmed. "But I'm going first," I then said, preferring to take the risk of getting shot first and avoiding that risk for the other, slowly moving to get in front of Portnova's place.
"I'm staying outside near the door, I'll get to the jeep once it's cleared," Viktoria murmured, enough to be heard well by the three of us as she was behind me before I moved. *
"Okay...we're behind you, Yirina," Park affirmed as I was getting ready to go in front of the door, my MP5 in my right hand, the other moving to the door handle, trying to know if it was unlocked...doesn't seem to be, the part to lock the door wasn't in a good state.
"I'm going in," I breathed, gun aimed towards the door before I starts to open it slowly & silently, discovering a small hallway with not too much light around it, which was coming from a room on the side of it. "Damn it," I muttered, seeing from inside that place...the walls looking very old, the marks of framed pictures still visible on those walls...slowly walking on a floor that was sure to make a loud noise with a wrong step, causing me to keep a slow pace...the more I was getting inside that hallway...the more was the risk of getting surprised at any moments as I was walking towards that light...
"Hands up!" Suddenly, my fear got confirmed when I was arriving next to a room, starting to feel the cannon of a pistol on the right side of my head, causing me to slightly move my head a little to try to see the person pointing this gun at me...a familiar face...
"Sonya?" I guessed, recognizing the person even if it was a long time ago I talked to them...the same person...damn...
"Grigoriev?" They muttered while I was keeping my hands up along with my MP5 before I could see them moving up the hammer of their pistol and then, lowering the gun. "I thought you were dead,"
"I'm not," I told them, starting to lower my hands at the same time.
"Freya told me that you got killed in Teusfelberg," They declared, me shaking my head at this...Freya...why?
"We're not dead," I repeated before I could hear the footsteps behind me, seeing Portnova with her AK-47 aiming at me. "It's okay, it's an old friend," I reassured her as Sonya was still inside that room, not visible from the group behind me.
"How in the hell did you manage to get here?" Sonya asked me, curious to know how we find that place.
"We got a transmission...well, my friend Portnova caught a transmission and she got us here," I replied, gesturing with my thumb towards Portnova whose footsteps were getting closer to me.
"Damm... Zasha..." Sonya sighed.
"Sonya, where are you?" At this moment, my eyes went wide at hearing inside that house, that voice...the voice of my friend...Zasha Smirnov, sounding to be closer. "Sonya, where are..." I could hear that very closely before I turned my head around, seeing Zasha arriving in front of us... an eyepatch over their right eye..."Yirina...Yirina..."
"Zasha!" Portnova's voice went up behind me, sounding very emotional in it before I witnessed her passing through very fast, walking to Zasha. "Zasha!" She repeated loudly, almost in the urge to cry as her arms got wrapped around Zasha, me snorting sadly to see them back together...a pain that Portnova was holding finally going away.
"I'm sorry, Yiri...it's my fault," Zasha said while the two were hugging, hearing Park arriving behind me, along with Sonya to witness this.
"It's good to see them back," I murmured.
"Yeah...me too," Park affirmed at my left as Sonya, who was peaking their head from the room, decides to leave it.
"We should get to the living room for a better talk," They suggested, starting to walk towards Zasha & Portnova, giving a nod to the first as they were passing next to the two.
"Where's Viktoria?" I demanded at Park.
"She went to the jeep right after Portnova got inside," She explained to me, doing what was planned to be done before her eyes went back on the two away from us, looking moved. "We should go see them too," She advised.
"Yeah," I nodded, sure of seeing Zasha after all this before starting to move to them & Portnova who stopped hugging each other.
"Hey, Yirina...nice to see you," Zasha told me with a little grin on their face, trying to look down as if they wanted to hide their eyepatch off me but I didn't care attention as I went to get my arms around them.
"I missed you, Zed," I snorted during our hug, remembering our last call back in Algeria, one day before we left the country for Russia...too many weeks ago...the last time we talked to each other.
"I missed you too," They gasped before the two of us broke the hug, letting Park move to my spot to hug them in turn, the two exchanging a smile. "Park, thank you," They said while the two were moving away from each other.
"Thank you too, Zasha," Park thanked them too and...I understand that from her...I think that me, Zasha & Portnova showed that she's a good woman...the woman I love and that's why she said this...
"Sorry to interrupt your reunion but Uhm..." Sonya was coming from another room as we were just next to the supposed living room, still in the hallway. "I know that you got a lot to talk about and everything like that but, Zasha, did you send a transmission in the wild?" They asked them especially as we were getting inside the living room...it was looking finished but it wasn't very...perfect...
"Yes, Sonya, I did," Zasha went on, sounding as if it wasn't something to do...almost annoyed I can say. "I told you many times that I want to go home but you're keeping me here so yeah, I used your material while you were away," They exclaimed.
"You know well that..."
"What happened to their eye?" Portnova cut Sonya short in their words as it was something I was intrigued too at the moment I saw that eyepatch. "Was it you?"
"No!" Sonya shook their head. "I'm not crazy enough to do that, ask Stitch's new dog instead,"
"Who?" I narrowed my eyes, fearing the worst name that could come out here from Sonya.
"The guy named Lazar, they brainwashed him enough that even without their damn broadcast, the guy is still under their control," Sonya revealed, and...it came true...that fear, Stitch was...that man...he was making Lazar a toy for Perseus...fuck...
"You're serious?" Park gasped, believing that it was non-sense but the worst came from Zasha who confirmed those words.
"It's been a week now, they've been trying to do what they did to him on me but...Stitch changed his mind and abandoned me in a place to die alone," Zasha explained, slowly stepping away from Portnova to get sit on one of the three chairs in the middle of the room around a table. "Sonya came to save me...as I was going to die," They added, sitting down. "I tried to go home but it's too risky,"
"I'm trying to keep you safe, Zasha, it's not my fault that someone made Verdansk into a shithole," Sonya complained, moving to face Zasha and putting their hands on the empty chair in front of them. "I'm trying to find a way to get us safe until the situation is sorted, we still have Bellamy at our backs,"
"Bellamy...Bellamy Petrov?" I presumed.
"Yeah," Zasha murmured...a name that I didn't hear since...London...the man that got fun by fucking up my eye...if I got my hands on him...
"Even if that idiot still believes in Perseus' ideals, he's not happy about the situation," Sonya sighed before we starts to hear some footsteps coming from where Sonya came here a few moments ago.
"Talking behind my back, Sonya?" What I could hear...I thought that it was a dream...no, a nightmare but that was Bellamy Petrov himself arriving in that very room, dressed up casually..."Hey...got some company, I see," He scoffed before me & he exchanged a glare...me having a deadly one...
"You..." I chuckled, clenching my left fist, having my MP5 in my other hand.
"Hey, Grigoriev...nice eye," He snapped his fingers at me, trying to sound funny...
"You fuck," At this, I dropped my MP5 away on the floor, walking fastly at him before I could give him my right fist at his face, feeling this anger I've been keeping deep inside of me since that day in London...since that very day, I've been dreaming of beating the shit out of him.
"No, Yirina!" I heard Zasha's voice going higher as I was seeing Bellamy's hands moving up to his face at his nose and I was going to lean down and give him more deserved punches before I got to see Zasha's arm going in front of me. "Stop, he's with us!"
"Bullshit, you know what he did to me!" I exclaimed, shocked that Zasha wasn't allowing me to resume the beating Bellamy deserves.
"I know...but he's with us, he hates Stitch because he wants him dead...they got him stripped of his rights & heritage in the Perseus Collective," Zasha tries to explain as they were containing me with their arm. "I hate him too for what he did but...he proposed to help us in exchange of...leaving us alone in the future,"
"And you believe that man who tortured you back in London?" I asked them, looking at them.
"Aaahhh...believe me or not...but I'm the one that can help you bring Stitch down," Bellamy slowly started to get up again on his feet, keeping his left hand near his nose. "If you kill me, you bury the chance of knowing Stitch's hideout,"
"We know it's the military base," Park admitted, sounding close to me as she was arriving to calm down too, putting her left hand over my shoulder.
"Nah...it's a trap...no one except some guards are over there," Bellamy revealed, passing his hand below his nose where he could see blood on his hand. "Dammit, did she break my nose?" He demanded towards Sonya.
"Fuck off, Bellamy, I ain't your babysitter and seriously, your nose is bleeding, what do you think?" Their response was accompanied by their eyes rolling along with shaking her head at him, Zasha letting go of their arm, sure that I wasn't going to punch Bellamy again.
"Even...Sonya knows where Stitch is really," I suggested, knowing that Sonya is Stitch's sibling but I got surprised by their head-shaking at us.
"Nah, he changed his location once I left to help Zasha," They told us...confirming the fact that Bellamy is the one who can help us...I can't believe I'm thinking of that..."So, that's making him the person who knows the truth," They pointed out to Bellamy.
"Great," I sighed.
"It's that or nothing," Bellamy almost grinned, a bit of trouble due to the pain.
"I guess we don't have many choices," Park resigned herself along with me to agree on not hurting Bellamy. "Portnova?"
"If that man tries to lie to us, I'll kill him myself," She threatened, sounding very clear in her voice.
"Yeah, sure you do," Bellamy scoffed before he turns his head around, towards the room he came in as some lights went to pass by through the windows of that room, "Who's that?"
"That must be Viktoria," Park guessed before two honks went to be heard outside, confirming this. "Yes,"
"Who?" Sonya demanded, curious.
"A friend of ours, we told her to get our jeep ready to leave," I responded, sounding a bit proud of talking about Viktoria as a friend...not sure if she does share this with us but I do.
"Leaving? Where? Not with those fucking CIA guys?" Bellamy asked, sounding nervous.
"No, she has a special place where we're hiding in the city's limits," Park went to answer but I could do as Portnova was moving next to Zasha, wanting to keep company with them. "If you're coming with us, you'll be..better,"
"Yes...I want to leave this place, it's reminding me too much...even without the pictures," Zasha murmured in a low voice, looking around the place and Portnova nodded, surely aware that this house was bringing too much for them.
"Hmmm...we better not get fucked," Sonya meant, pointing their fingers at me & Park
"You won't," Park affirmed.
"Yeah, can we trust you?" Bellamy demanded, passing his hand the last time below his nose to clean it.
"Now, you will," Park replied to him in an assertive tone to make sure that he got us clear, giving us a nod.
"Okay, I'll start to get the essentials ready," Sonya sighed, starting to move from their spot in the room to leave and to prepare things as they suppose to.
"Bellamy," Park then called him out again, trying to leave away from us with Sonya, and thanks to Park, he stopped to look at her, having a serious & deadly glare that could kill a god here.
"You're coming with us...but if you try anything...I'll make a pleasure of making you suffer as you did to them,"

----------------------------------------------------------------------
5th September, it's been now 3 days since we installed ourselves into that warehouse occupied by Viktoria, the first talks weren't easy to do but we somehow managed to get along with her and were allowed to stay over here for the remaining of the operation in Verdansk, without the possibility to return to the CIA's HQ, getting to not send messages that could be intercepted by Perseus and gives hints about our location and the fact that Viktoria was sharing that same hatred with us towards the CIA for their actions, it was good to have this, not wanting to see Adler for the moment at all until we get all of this done by working from that warehouse.
In those 3 days, we mainly spend our time decrypting messages that were sent from Perseus' HQ to its fighting forces in the city but we were also taking the opportunity to discover more about the Soviet side of the conflict in town. The few messages that we got were intercepted by Portnova, those telling well that the KGB wasn't blind to the CIA's presence in Verdansk but now having a common enemy, the KGB officers in charge in that camp in the East decided to keep their eyes shut, making the CIA's work easy to get rid of Perseus, I guess.
Our work wasn't just resumed to try to decrypt radio transmissions but we only left the warehouse 2 times in 3 days, still under the orders of Viktoria. The first time was to attack a little Perseus post located just next to the airport in a quiet place in the middle of the night while the second time was to secure some data from one of the broadcast truck wrecks near the big bridge overlooking the city, where we wanted to know how the broadcast was actually working and maybe how Stitch managed to brainwash more than just Adler...it was a beginning to say but I felt that, even if we were working as a team, Viktoria wasn't seeming very enthusiastic sometimes.
It was maybe only me or a shared thought but she was always working away from us, refusing any help from us at the warehouse, and not willing to talk of anything personal from her. I surely think that Viktoria was a good person and she surely has her reasons to not say anything at all even if I was able to note a look mixed between anger & disgust at the mention of Adler's name sometimes. She was avoiding any contact with us except the moments we got something important or when we have to go out for a little mission, we were allowed here but it wasn't going to be resembling the usual situations from before.
Tonight, it was a moment to get some rest but everyone had a thing to do, Park had to have some sleep since she didn't close her eyes during the day, being our watchwoman to make sure no one was coming here, CIA, KGB or Perseus. Portnova was at her post near the radios, trying to get any message out on a piece of paper and know what's the deal as for me, I was getting ready to get outside on the rooftop to replace Viktoria, having taken Park's place for the rest of the day until now. Almost ready since I wanted before to give a little something to Portnova...
"Here you go," I announced myself as I was posing at her right on the table, a cup of coffee, something that impressed me here as Viktoria managed to get a coffee machine working well and doing good coffee here.
"Oh, thanks, Yirina," Portnova put down the headset she was sticking at her left ear with her hands to get them around the cup. "You look ready," She commented, seeing me prepared as always since we got here.
"Yeah, I'm taking over Viktoria's place to watch around," I told her, slightly moving my head towards the stairs going up the first floor and the little window leading to the rooftop. "I wanted to give you something before I go up,"
"That's nice from you," She said, her cup going next to her lips to make a soft blow to appease the coffee's hotness. "Did you give one to Park?" She asked me.
"No, she's still sleeping at the moment, she didn't close her eyes for a while," I replied with a little voice, Park was looking tough and okay but in a low mood about personal things, especially since we learned about Lazar's presence here, something we didn't discuss since we got here. "I don't want to disturb her,"
"Yeah..." Portnova murmured, turning her seat & body around at me while her eyes went to look over the spot where our 'beds' in a corner of the warehouse were. "Uhm...do you think she will be better in the next few days?" Portnova demanded, curious in her voice.
"I don't know, we all want to get things done and bring our friends back home," I responded in a sure tone, looking down at her. "We have Zasha, Dedov & Lazar to find," I added, remembering those we need to bring home...home.
"Yes...Zasha..." Portnova snorted at that name, not having heard it since the last moment we got out of here. "I just want them & Dedov back...I'll be broken if..."
"Don't," I suggested, cutting her out from lamenting herself about a situation that didn't happen & won't happen. "It won't help us," I turned around away from her to look at the stairs. "We'll get them back, I promise you...a while ago," I said, a flash in my head reminding me of my talk with her years ago...me & her along the Moskova with Moscow away...talking about Zasha. "Anyway..." I cleared my throat, placing my hand in front of my mouth. "I need to go now, I'll see you later,"
"Yeah...later," Portnova chuckled as I turned around to give her a little grin. "Later," She repeated, making a small wave with her free hand at me before I switched my body back to walk at the stairs, ready to take over my task of watchwoman.
I walked over the stairs, going up to the first floor and while I was doing this, I was thinking about this place, wondering how did Viktoria managed to get all of this stuff here if we all know that she's working alone like a free-lance mercenary, not employed by anyone, even by the CIA but I got some guesses in my head...small guesses and mostly theories that I wasn't sure to say loudly. The thing I'm sure of is that she knows very well of us...and us a little of her...having watched over us since the moment Stitch nuked the Yamantau.
Those thoughts persisted as I was joining the little window, large enough to fit in and half-opened to get some fresh air of the night going inside the warehouse. I took a deep breath before I got the window fully opened to get outside, getting greeted by the cold of the night on my face and the view of a warzone from afar in the city, the downtown looking to be the center of attention by judging to the explosions viewable from here.
I turned my eyes away from that view to search Viktoria on the rooftop, finding her sit with her equipment, body turned to look over Verdansk, an unexpressive look on her face but some eyes that drifted towards me when I got my feet heard on the rooftop.
"You're here," She spoke up as I was walking towards her, keeping a good distance.
"Yeah...replacing you to look over the site," I explained, moving my left hand to scratch the back of my head, her staying at her spot.
"Good," She said with a nod before a silence came in, lasting some long seconds as she wasn't making a move to get up.
"Uhm...you're not leaving?" I asked, gesturing behind me towards the window to get inside.
"Nah," She snorted.
"Why?"
"I'm better here for the moment," She explained, finally having her head going over me, her facial expression looking neutral before her eyes went to my feet. "You can sit if you want," She proposed to me, her right hand making a small wave at her side.
"I thought you hated company," I presumed, curious to know what's into her.
"I do...I can make an exception for you...unless you don't want to," She argued, sounding a bit annoyed of me saying that, her body ready to get up if I wasn't willing to keep her company as she wanted...okay...
"Okay..." I muttered, resigning myself to sit down at least 2 meters from her with my equipment, including some food that we got thanks to Sims days ago but then another silence came up again, only hearing the muffled sounds of explosions coming from the city. "You want to talk about something?" I demanded, wanting to break that weird silence between us.
"What do you want?" She demanded me back. "Are you going to ask me about something of my past? Why did I defect? Why did I cut ties with the CIA?" She guessed right the questions I had on my mind about her, knowing well that between me, Park & Portnova, I was the most curious one.
"Uhm..." I started, feeling to get into a slippery terrain of a conversation. "About Adler," That mention caused her to slightly drift her eyes at me, keeping her head still in the front. "I always see you getting a bit...different each time his name is mentioned by us," I declared, trying to analyze how Viktoria was feeling about this. "I don't know if you got an hatred for him to like us but...I think you do," I suggested, her closing her eyes at this before letting out a sigh from her mouth.
"Yes...I do," She affirmed in a low voice. "He's the reason I decided to hate the CIA for what they did," Her voice went a bit up, sounding more than just normal, emotional, I can say.
"What did they do?" I asked.
"They hurt someone," Her fingers went to tap over her kneecaps as her hands were over them while saying this before she turned her head to look at me, with saddened eyes. "They hurt me," She revealed to me, taking me back even if...shit...what the fuck Adler did to her?...
"Shit...I'm sorry to hear that," I apologized, feeling pain as if she was sharing it with me...everyone got hurt by Adler...got something linked to him...
"You weren't the only one that faced that situation, Yirina," She added.
"What do you..." I started to say before the realization came to me very fast, making the link of that...situation...brainwashing...son of a...dammit..."Did...did he really..."
"He wasn't able to fuck with my head, I managed to flee before he could start to mess with my head," She confessed, shocked to hear of that...Adler continuing to brainwash people after me...I started to feel very sorry of Viktoria, now understanding her reasons to stay distant about her life.
"If he tried to do this...does this mean you were a Perseus agent?" A question that was quickly answered by a nod from her, confirming a doubt I got about her.
"I defected back in 1976..." A breath. "Not because I was in danger but because I wanted to change...making things to believe Perseus that one of their KGB informants got captured & died," She resumed, giving a new light about that defection from what I remember from that memory. "However, I never said anything about Perseus...I wouldn't have been taken seriously..."
"Until you heard that the CIA was on Perseus in 1981?" I guessed with a low voice, trying to recover from discovering Viktoria's nearly similar fate to me about Adler. "You knew that Perseus was back into the West's priority so you got to tell the truth,"
"That's what I did," She sighed, her right hand passing through her face and then through her hair. "I told them what I knew, helping in some problems until the events in Solovetsky happened, the CIA thinking that Perseus couldn't be out like that," She explained, fearing the worst about the next parts of her story.
"If you don't want to talk about it, you don't need to," I advised her, seeing that she wasn't looking good on telling everything away...that's something she would prefer to keep for her...and she was giving it away to me.
"I'm telling this to you because..." She stopped herself, even though she wasn't really believing that she was telling me everything to me but something got her to continue...I don't know what but something did, not me. "I don't know," She let out another sigh, her eyes rolling up on the dark skies.
"You don't need to..."
"In April 1981, Perseus got back into the CIA's radar but at that time, nothing was able to know where to start," She continued to explain, not having heard my muffled voice. "The only solution for them...was to look at those who worked with Perseus and if some people talked, nothing was concrete...and then, Adler arrived," She whispers that name but I could feel in her voice the full hatred against him...a shared feeling. "With every plea that I told the CIA everything, he was ready to do everything to make me talk...even getting me over the MK-Ultra program,"
"Was it only the CIA?" I demanded, scared to know about...Park...
"Only them," She said, reassuring me on Park a little but still heavily shocked that MK-Ultra was continuing to be used. "I managed to flee the CIA, leaving for somewhere I wouldn't be found and even if they do, they're sure that they can't deal any problem with me," She let out a relieving breath, her right hand passing below her nose and making a snort at the same time. "It's been that time I can't bear to hear that name, hating that man more than I can do, sharing it with Perseus...until I realized that I wasn't the only one having that feeling," She turned around to look at me, making me know that we were the ones that got her to have that realization...dammit...
"If you see him...face-to-face...what will you do?" I asked her, unsure of what to tell her apart from apologies...
"I would kill him...but does it make people better?" She asked me back.
"I don't know...he never got people back...I don't think so," I assumed, thinking about those who fell during the fight against Perseus, those who died trying to get rid of it...nothing will bring them back but only our memories of them before the bad happened...nothing...
"Hey!" Suddenly, I turned my head around at the window, hearing a third voice speaking up from it with an English accent.
"Park?" I thought.
"Yes, it's me, Yirina," Park affirmed, holding the window with one hand, sounding to have been waking up with a start by her voice. "Listen, I know that I should be asleep but...Uhm...Portnova found something," She explained.
"What did she find?" Viktoria demanded.
"I don't know, she only woke me up to tell you to get down...it's really serious here," She told us, causing me & Viktoria to exchange a quick gaze before we decides to get up with our equipment. "At the moment, she's next to the map of Verdansk," She said, head looking down inside the warehouse.
"We're coming," I affirmed, getting up from my spot before we starts to walk away to get back inside the building.
Even if this discussion went to an end due to Park coming to ask us to go down, I was still thinking about Viktoria's story, feeling sorry for being forceful due to my curiosity and kinda forced her to give up her troubling story, discovering that she almost suffered from the same fate than me...I was just thinking...I hoped that there weren't more people like us, having faced that situation...around the world...I just don't want that...it's too much pain to discover that someone else had that happened...my mind can't forget this now, I need to focus on something else...still staying in a corner...
We were going down the stairs, me trying to think of that something else as we saw Portnova standing up next to the map of Verdansk disposed on a table near her work spot, the three of us wondering what's got into her.
"Portnova," Viktoria was the first one to speak up between the three of us after she got her feet on the same level as her. "Do you mind telling us what's going on?" She asked.
"I got a transmission," Portnova responded, sounding astonished at that, not turning around to face us. "It's not from Perseus or from the KGB...it gave up things I remembered well..."
"Who it could be?" I stepped up, going to walk next to Portnova, her left finger crossing to the boundaries of the map, focused on the city surroundings.
"I don't know but...the message was containing elements that only me can know," She said, eyes drifting around the map until her index finger stopped on a place in the northwest of the map...almost in the middle of nowhere. "Here it is...they're here!" She tapped over that location as Park & Viktoria went to get close for a better look until Portnova turned around to face me...a little smile on her face...
"It can only be them...my Zeze...It's Zasha..."

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Leaving Sims alone to join Park & Portnova who have finished to make what they needed to do about their calls was like for me the start of the beginning of the end if I can say it right. It was sure for me that Perseus...that all of them were hiding in Verdansk and because of what Adler did, they were maybe no escape at all for them, causing the whole Collective to fight in the city against the CIA, now combined with the Soviet authorities who knows well that the West is here against Perseus...I couldn't know exactly how was the situation in town but by the sound of what I heard, it was a stalemate...I hope the tide can turn for us soon...soon...
The flight kinda make me tired, very exhausted even if I did take some short rest and that was shared for Park & Portnova too, prompting us to get directly to sleep where a soldier guided us through the camp to an unoccupied tent. It wasn't looking the best thing around but it was still enough & worth it, beds were still all separated like in the US's safehouses, we weren't going to complain about that again and that wasn't my type either. Right now, the only thing we wanted was to be prepared for the next days, not going to be quiet for us, to get some sleep for a longer time, to survive...and to be back home...
I knew well that sleeping back into a place like this wasn't going to be the best thing like it did back in Algeria weeks ago, we were back into a war situation and people outside our tents were still sounding noisy but no complaints from me when I woke a few moments during the night due to a loud noise coming from vehicles or people but nothing too big as I could fell asleep quickly after that.
I don't remember a lot of my past life when I was on the field as a Perseus agent and what I managed to get back wasn't looking...pretty: being wounded...I think that's the only thing I can remember right...September 1980, Afghanistan...a memory that I was reliving again during my sleep...
All I was able to see again was the smoke coming from a village a few hundred meters from me, the burning wrecks of some tanks around where I was standing. My body wasn't willing to stay up any longer, the bullet hole in my leg causing so much pain for staying like this, only suffering to get my eyes on things more suffering to look at until I collapsed on the ground like I remember, the blue skies over me with the black smokes...I could smell the burning from where I was...trying to stay alive...before the helicopter arrived...seeing armed soldiers coming out of it...
And then...the memory cut to black again, disappearing in a corner of my head like every other memory I got back until I can remember it again in the future. A memory cut to black as my eyes went to open slightly, waking up on my bed in the tent along with a yawn coming out of my mouth at the same time I went to scratch my head with my right hand before stretching my arms & legs under the green sheet
I looked around me to see that Park's bed & Portnova's one were empty, almost causing me to panic like I do sometimes when this happens before I saw a little paper on what was serving as a nightstand for me at the right my bed, an ammo box. It was a little yellow note as I took it in my hand and then recognized Park's handwriting on it...along with the three XXX at the end of the message...
We woke up earlier today, I had to accompany Portnova for a call she wanted to make and I wanted to let you sleep a little, it was better for you, we will be with Sims when you woke up,
Later,
Helen, XXX
"Park..." I murmured with a smile after finishing to recite her little note, very glad of that from her. "Well, it's time to go," I told to myself, putting the note aside before checking my watch: 8:59...not too late, still better than waking up at 6 AM...anyway, time to get dressed.
Once I got finished checking myself in my outfit, I went to grab a little snack from my bag and ate it before leaving the tent, getting greeted by the sun of Verdansk rising along with the usual noises from a military camp. A little breath and I was on my way to join the headquarters tent we have been greeted by Sims when we arrived here, seeing during my walk some soldiers getting prepared to leave the camp in direction of Verdansk in trucks to help the men & women out there in the city and I was sure that soon or later, we're going to leave this camp to help too...we need to.
When I arrived at the tent, I could see that Park was right as she was standing next to the table with the big map of Verdansk on it, a coffee in her hands as at her right, Sims was standing up, hands on the table, a few inches from the map and near him at his right, Portnova was sitting on the edge of the table, arms crossed.
"Yirina," Sims got his head up after hearing my footsteps coming inside the tent. "I thought that you will never wake up," He scoffed, seeming a bit happy than the last time we both briefly talked.
"Sims, good to see you...and as you see, I'm here," I said with a half-joking voice and then a little smile when I turned my head at Park, holding her cup. "You're alright?"
"Yeah, you?" Park asked me, nodding to respond.
"I'm fine...Portnova?" I turned towards Portnova seeing her getting off the table to look at me, fully geared up.
"I'm good too, I'm relieved that we can start to work today," She declared, sharing the same thing as me on the situation. "You don't need to ask for Adler, he already left for Verdansk," She then revealed to me, a question that wasn't in my mind but now was...
"Already?" I raised an eyebrow.
"Yeah, he took Hudson, Woods & Mason with him at the first call, got sight of Perseus soldiers near the stadium," Sims responded, getting his hands off the table as I was arriving next to it to get a look at the map. "As you remember, Perseus is all over town and we can't draw lines about how are things, it seems that it's like guerilla over there," He gestured towards the map, making a circle above it, didn't change since the last time I saw it...blue line for us, a red line for the Soviets.
"Any occasion to get a word with the soviets?" I demanded, knowing that this attempt was put on hold for the moment but we can still try.
"Well, we would like to but there are problems," Park replied.
"Always has been..." I sighed at this...always a problem around..."What is it?" I asked.
"There's practically no means to send them a message from here, no contact with them but we do know that they're established near the old prison complex on the coastline at the east," Sims pointed out that location on the map, tapping over it two times with his index finger.
"No means? No way to find a solution to get a word with them?" Park, Portnova & Sims shook their heads at the same time as me...dammit, why the solutions we're thinking of don't work sometimes?...
"We don't have any decryption material here, everything was destroyed in the old safehouse," Sims explained with Park & Portnova affirming his words by a nod, knowing more than me here. "All...except one thing,"
"One thing?" Portnova repeated, narrowing her eyes at him...something that Park didn't know too.
"Well, I got heard that someone we used to work with is in Verdansk in what is supposed to be an old warehouse near a scrapyard in the West," Sims showed us that location on the map, marked with a big black circle with a question mark next to it. "An old acquaintance of the CIA named Viktoria Korozova," He said.
"Wait," I then got my head off the map with a sort of sudden realization coming in me, as if I had a situation of déjà-vu. "Viktoria Korozova?" I repeated.
"Yeah...you know her?" Sims got curious about this by my reaction, the other two showing that feeling too.
"Well, I heard that name before in the KGB... an agent that disappeared and got trained by Belikov, I believe," I managed to find out in what I could remember from a memory what I knew about this Viktoria Korozova...a familiar name. "People back that day said that she maybe got captured by the CIA,"
"I can confirm that's not the truth here," Sims declared with a small laugh.
"Why?" Park crossed her arms after putting her coffee down on the table, curious. "Was it her defecting or the CIA getting her hands on her?"
"She defected...we didn't know why at first because she was just saying that she could offer her help," Sims confirmed, removing his eyes off the map to look back & speak at us. "She was pretty silent from the moment she switched sides until 1981, in April,"
"1981?" Portnova exchanged a glare with me, knowing well that it was this year everything happened to me...something that couldn't be just a coincidence...
"On Perseus, she helped us out on this for a few times until...well, that's something I don't know but something happened that caused her to leave the CIA & install herself in Alaska...coming out a few times to help but nothing else," He resumed, giving me more small details about that woman...getting familiar to me even if I never saw her face at all. "She doesn't work with Perseus, she hates the guy but she doesn't work with the CIA or anyone else either," He added, slightly moving his head on the side.
"So...she might be here but we can't approach her," Portnova mumbled.
"We can still try to approach her as friends to her, we know where she could be exactly," I proposed, gesturing at where the big black circle was on the map. "I mean, we're not the CIA," I supposed.
"Hmm...I know that sounds risky but if we can try to know more about this Viktoria Korozova, we need to do it," Park acknowledged that part of the risk before agreeing on doing this, soon followed by a grin from Portnova.
"Good idea, I just hope that we won't get greeted by bullets," She scoffed as we then turned our heads towards Sims, looking to think about it.
"You can make it work?" I asked him.
"Uhm...that could work, I don't know how much time you'll be there but I think that's better you go there as you will be closer to the fight if you had to," He advised us, surely telling us to get more than just some guns & our skills to get out today. "I think that I'll get everything prepared for you in a free jeep: guns, equipment, all you need,"
"How much time?" Park got her hands back on her cup of coffee before she turned around to put it away on another table with a coffee machine on it and some cups.
"It will be surely be done for the afternoon so you can rest a bit if you want before moving from Verdansk," He said, directing himself to grab a piece of paper & a pen that were next to the map, giving us a glare for a few seconds before writing down on it. "Okay, you can go now if you want, I'll join you when everything will be ready, I'm staying here to lead everyone around," He suggested, keeping his eyes on the paper as Park & Portnova went to walk around the table to join me at my sides, getting ready to leave.
"Later, Sims," I waved at him, making the same thing at us even if he didn't move his head for us before we decides to left the tent, now trying to know what to do...
Since the equipment needed for us to be ready in Verdansk needed time until the afternoon, the three of us were trying to pass the time by playing Bullshit games in our tent, equally winning games each one of us before we stopped at noon to go eating at the general mess of the camp and after that, we decided to simply...wait until Sims came to us, staying on our beds but not trying to sleep, just to clear our minds and preparing them to be in Verdansk for the next few days...if we don't get shot at by this Viktoria Korozova.
It was at 5 PM, nearly at the end of the afternoon, that Sims came back to us to announce that everything was good to be used, leading us to a military jeep with some equipment in the back of it...two MP5, one AK-47 that was supposedly for Portnova who didn't say a word but just be...excited to have one, keeping the MP5s for me & Park. Some grenades, lethal & stuns ones for us and to finish, some meal rations for us, enough for at least 2-3 days. Everything was okay and we finally got to go, leaving Sims to the camp...destination, Verdansk...an old warehouse near a plane scrapyard...
Portnova was the one driving the jeep towards Verdansk on the coast highway, free from all cars except some civilian's car wrecks and a few destroyed tanks on the way, showing to us that the fight wasn't pretty at all in here...dammit...I was seeing on the front seat near Portnova as we were getting close to the city, seeing the numerous pile of smoke coming out from the buildings until we arrived in the outskirts and then in the city's limits, hearing some explosions far away from us.
Then, we finally managed to arrive alive to our destination, that old warehouse near a plane scrapyard, two buildings next to it...the place was looking silent, a long distance from the city's center...seem to be a perfect place to hide away from the fight...
"Keep your guns up," Park suggested as she jumped over the jeep, her MP5 in her right hand. "We don't know if there are enemies around," She added, me & Portnova getting out of the car, holding our guns by the cannon before getting our both hands on my MP5, left hand on the handguard, right one on the grip.
"Should we separate ourselves?" I proposed. "One of us taking the warehouse, the other two taking the buildings," I added, gesturing with my head towards the two buildings at the right side of the warehouse.
"It could work, buildings are close enough if we got problems," Portnova affirmed, her eyes moving around before she turned back at us. "Who takes what?"
"I'm taking the warehouse," I volunteered, probably taking the highest risk here even if we don't know if we fell into a trap or just getting watched from somewhere by Korozova. "We got radios on, it should be fine," I said, reassuring Park as she wasn't sure of it but she got convinced since the place wasn't looking large enough.
"Okay...radios on, let's go," Park nodded, moving her left hand over her radio set on her chest, me & Portnova doing the same to be okay. "We'll find each other if we got something or nothing," She added, making a slap with her MP5 like that before she starts to walk towards the left building next to the warehouse.
"Good luck," I told them, removing my left hand off the handguard before slapping my gun, getting it ready, and then, being on my way by walking at a slow pace at the warehouse, keeping my gun up.
The front of the warehouse was looking to be locked down and I wasn't going to widely open the garage doors like that...I went to walk around, able to find a side entrance door and before getting my hands on the door, I took a deep breath, passed my left hand through my hair, and exposed my scar a little bit at the same time before moving my hand on the door handle, aiming my MP5 in front.
Another breath and then, I got to slowly open the door to enter, keeping my gun up as I was getting inside, discovering that this warehouse wasn't very looking abandoned by looking at the outside, some lights were turned on and to look at it, there was some unusual military stuff inside before I got my eyes on a table under one of the big turned on light, causing me to get interested by it. I went next to it where I could see some pictures...pictures of Perseus agent...Roman 'Knight' Gary...a man with a name marked on the picture named 'Fuze'...and Freya...all looking recent...dammit...as I was looking at that picture, I heard a click behind me...coming from a gun...a revolver...
"I thought at first that you will be just a British soldier but by seeing you arrive, I would say...someone different...a shadow from the past, maybe," I froze in place by feeling the cold cannon of a gun behind my neck, hearing the voice of a woman behind me, a little accent in her voice.
"You must be Viktoria Korozova," I presumed, somehow managing to stay calm at having a gun at the back of my head before I got some nerves to turn around, discovering a woman wearing a grey shirt, a bulletproof vest under it, hair almost looking like mine...now having her revolver at my forehead...
"And you are Yirina Grigoriev," She said, surprising me on the inside as she was sounding to know me well...but even with that, she kept her revolver up at my face as I was staying unfazed in appearance, a bit scared inside. "Ex-KGB, old Perseus agent, part of the MK-Ultra program," She added, seeming aware of all of this about me, keeping a calm but troubled face as she was not looking to lower her gun...me alone with her...
"I've been wondering when you will show up...and here you are..."
