Aaa I loved checkmate!! I didn’t know Shining Star but loved the cover, I’ve never really been into idol shows but now I’m low-key obsessing over your AU so all things music related makes me think of it, thanks for that :) Have another headcannon:

After the game exposes her for supposedly bullying Maria she loses some fans even with the whole harem stepping up to defend her and proof her innocence. Even tho Katarina doesn’t mind, she’s just happy to avoid the doom Maria blames herself, so Katarina releases a song for her called Maria (by Hwa Sa) thelyrics!!! Bonus: the girls show up at the end of the video Bonus 2: everyone is super proud of Katarina not letting the negativity get to her and also super jealous cause Maria got A SONG!!!

That’s such an interesting plot idea/headcanon! Honestly that head canon is a perfect scenario to happen after the condemnation event! And if we imagine this as an idol show/game, its a great segway into a new song XDD If I was writing a story/fanfic/comic for this AU, i’d definitely add something like that :DD I’d imagine that Sophia and Mary either dance as her backup or at least helped her with backstage stuff like lyrics or choreography or costume choice!  The song “Maria” by Hwa Sa itself is so good and catchy! It really does have that natural cool-aura that Katarina would exude as an idol! Good choice anon :DD I like how some of the lyrics can be referring to the bullies while can be about the self/other people hjsdgfjhsf its pretty cool! (also the harem getting jealous of Katarina releasing a song for Maria is the exact kind of Idol AU shenanigans that this AU needs hahaha)

I looked it up and its interesting to know that the song “Maria” apparently also contains themes of self-love and inner conflict. While Katarina faced the doom flag head on and came out of it unscathed, alternatively, in the storyme otome game, one of the options show a bit of vulnerability from Katarina, where the fear of the doom flags could have made her despair if she didn’t hear the support of her friends. The song just works all around, for Maria, Katarina and the bully antagonists of the condemnation scene. Having such a layered song named after you must be so romantic hahaha.

You didn’t know why but the moment you met eyes with Lee Woozi, the vocal leader and producer of seventeen, you felt a rather odd force surround you, and so did he because, from that time on (at least when the manager left for you to mingle) you haven’t stayed in the same room without arguing with each other. And on the night of the biggest award show, the two of you were still up in each others faces. “But who even said you made hearts throb more than i do?” you questioned, ignoring the fact there were a ton of people in the room “Well it’s undeniable. I am better than you.” Woozi spat back, and like a child, you gasped loudly before clapping back at him. Your group decided to hang around with seventeen so you decided to occupy the rooftop of the entertainment company’s building. However, 10 hasn’t passed yet, but you and woozi were walking with each other arguing about the littlest of things. “What’re they fighting about now?” Seungcheol asked Mingyu, seungkwan, and dino, who happened to watch the drama like scene in front of them. “Apparently something about who performs better?” Mingyu answered his hyung who decided to sit with them. Chuckling in his seat, seungcheol was amused by the fact his vocal leader was whipped. As he noticed that woozi immediately followed you and prevented you from getting too far away when you appeared to get frustrated and give up on the argument. “Are these two always like this?” Seungcheol asked the three kids. “Mmm.” Dino hummed in confirmation. “They remind me of my sister and her best friends,despite arguing they can never be separated.” Seungkwan shred, but Dino was quick to disagree. “No~ they’re more of an old married couple.” Dino stated, and in a second everyone was nodding and making sounds of approval. In the end of your free time, your argument with woozi was on hold till after your performances. A bet was made between the two of you. Since your quarrel wasn’t too easy to solve Jeonghan and your leader suggested to do an experiment. To prove who’d make the other person’s heart throb harder. “I’m assuming you two hate each other so if the other gets o surpass that hatred and make your heart beat then that proves they’re the better person of this quarrel.” Jeonghan finalised before he pulled woozi away as you leader did the same with you. In you respective dressing room you were all seated in front of the screen anticipating the performance stage of your counterpart group. “Ooo, y/n you got some competition” your member teased as you realized they’d be dancing to Clap. As Carats you guys chanted with the crowd, and enjoyed yourselves throughout the song. Though you tried to hide the fact you were in awe each time the camera would do a solo shot of woozi, since you felt his passion and  emotion through the tv screen. “Yieee look at y/n-shii!” Your unnie teased which caught everyone’s attention, and caused an uproar of squeals and teasing. “Yah it’s the best part!” You yelled pointing at the screen as the interlude began, you thought their attention would be taken off of you but only a handful looked, but most still eyed you pink face. “OOO!!” Everyone yelled as the camera focused on woozi , who looked directly into the camera, lifted his hang up to point into it, tilted his head a smirk plastered on his face as he winked while he sent a finger heart. And the room went wild, screaming, squealing and pushing into each other. You on the other hand was quiet, face as red as tomato, and while your members externally fangirled for you you couldn’t get over the fact you saw him call your name. Though it was quick, you still saw and the loud and fast thumping of your heart didn’t help your confused and flustered state. A few minutes later it was your group’s turn to perform and bumping into seventeen on the way to the stage was something different. This time around you didn’t feel annoyance and frustration when woozi passed you. Instead, Your heart thumping in your chest and butterflies dancing in your stomach was the one that replaced that feeling. Of course the thing that was on your mind was ‘i can’t let him win this’ As you performed you comeback stage it was in the darker more sensual genre than your usual light and innocent one. This shocked Woozi and the others. They were so captivated by the song and the choreography they couldn’t take their eyes off the screen, even after their manager announced the buffet in the pantry was all theirs. All throughout the performance you thought of pleasing your fans with your group’s new concept, but your mind was mostly on not losing your bet. So you made sure to give the choreo your all. As your solo arrived all eyes were on you and you made sure to please since you knew woozi would be watching, and you wanted to get back to him for what he did. ‘Pfffft, these two would be in for a tough night’ jeonghan thought watching the younger boy stare at the screen with wide eyes and a slightly gaped mouth. xvxvxvxv After the awarding your group and his group won the awards you were nominated for which was why everyone was in the mood to celebrate. You on the other hand was still shaken by the events of a few hour ago. Up in the rooftop garden you looked over and watched as the lights of seoul danced under you. ‘ ahhh that guy.. ‘ you thought as the imagine of woozi throwing the finger heart and wink as if it was for you and you only, popped into your mind again. As you sighed leaning over the railing you started to rethink your thoughts about him. How he looked cuter and more handsome than you thought, and how he would always make sure you didn’t trip walking down the busses, vans, or stairs whenever you had to walk together. “Thinking about me?” A voice from behind you caused your soul to jump out of your body in shock until you realized who it belonged to. It was none other than the boy who made you feel confused yet as if you were in cloud nine. When you realized what he said you didn’t want to turn as you wished his statement was false, but you turned to greet him anyways. “W-what’re you doing here?” You asked unable to contain yourself from stuttering. “You okay?” He asked. And as he stepped towards you you took some back. “Wait why’re you being nice to me?” You asked, since you’d usually be yelling knives at each other on a normal occasion. As if you threw ice cold water in his face, woozi froze. After awhile he smiled and turned from facing you to facing the view. “Isn’t it better this way though?” He murmured looking down. Seeing his soft and gentle composure you loosened yourself up a bit and let your guard down as well. “Yeah i guess” you smiled watching the city lights. “Uh, about the bet…” woozi decided to break the silence knowing he had to spit it out now or never at all. “Oh that..” A short pause entrapped the two of you before you both said, “i think you won this time” quickly, as you turned to face him, he did the same. Looking eye to eye with each other you thought it would be unpleasant but you found the situation rather funny, especially since you both decided the other won. “Wow… so that means.. you felt what i felt?” You asked pointing to yourself then to him. “Uh, i think so… i hope you felt what i felt tho..” he tells you, murmuring the last part. As you both confirmed your feelings you agreed to start a new since it seemed like your confession would appear to not happen if you returned to your old ways, and like everyone else, both you and woozi didn’t want that. You two stayed to chat a bit more, revealing more things about each other when joshua decided not to go out and mention that the vans to take you to your after party was already parked and waiting. “Ah those two would have a k-drama like love story…i can see it already” joshua sighed as he shook his head taking his leave, and returning to the other members.
