Happy #WorkingDogWednesday from these two goobers 💙❤️. Fenrir had a very busy evening on Monday. After a full day of work, a 2 hour walk and a bath, the three of us attended a play my little brother was in. The boys tucked up together on the mat in the tiny space no complaints and slept through the show. After that, Watson took a chance to eat his dinner in my car while we ran in to order take out. I used the short opportunity to train focus, under and ignoring food in a restaurant setting while we waited for our food. For his first time in a restaurant, Fen did really well. And he didn’t even have Watson as someone to lean on and learn from. He experienced the 120+ flavor soda machine for the first time - something Watson was afraid of the first few time he encountered them - and couldn’t care less 💪🏻. He’s doing PA training almost backwards from how I did it with Watson but he’s doing it really really well. Training Watson’s successor is scary in many ways, but mostly because I’m scared of letting that chapter of Watson and I as a team close. Sure it’s not over yet, not by a long shot, but every training session we get one step closer. It’s scary but there’s no other face I’d rather have looking up at me, taking over for Watson ❤️💙. Well, happy #workingdogwednesday? We had quite the surprise working last night but I couldn’t be more proud to call this guy my working partner. This dog is absolutely worth his weight (and then some) in gold. Last night we had an unexpected visit to the ER due to a work accident. I’m ok, extremely sore and covered in bruises and abrasions, but nothing is broken. I’ve been there for other people and usually never with Watson, but last night was the first time I’ve personally been admitted and had Watson work in that kind of situation. Sure, you can train and prepare for disasters like this, but you never know for sure how well a dog will handle it until you’re actually living through it. Watson acted like the whole situation was old hat. He even laid so still and quiet in my bed, that several of the nurses and staff didn’t even notice him at first 💪🏻. We ended up taking the day off due to the pain and late hour of our visit, I’m hoping that the rest will allow me to go back to work tomorrow. A huge thank you to @lkfarre, @3rivergirl, and @different_minds_one_heartbeat for your support and care throughout the evening.
