My first rescue of 2020, and it was one massive hive!✨ The owners speculate at least two years or more, judging by the amount of comb alone I'd agree - oh and the roughly ~30,000 bees!🐝🐝🐝 The colony was located between two fences under a sheet of vinyl plywood. Thankfully, it was a smooth rescue. All of the brood comb was saved, filling up ten frames! I was also able to find the Queen👸🐝 With the remaining comb - mostly nectar, pollen, and bee-bread - I like to leave for them to clean, if I can, before rendering the wax.
