Last post reminds me of when I looked at Goodreads reviews for Rubyfruit Jungle (a book I personally do not like btw so I’m not stanning it) and it was largely just people complaining that the book didn’t have an explicit conclusive happy ending or that “the protagonist is rude” or even “this book is so scandalous wtf”

#i dislike rfj because it fantastically fails at what it sets out to do with its theme by making molly out to be Not Like THOSE Lesbians #and goes out of its way to demonize and shit on butch lesbians for being gnc. and literally sees incest in a better light than being butch #not because it ‘’didnt have a wholesome story’’ #which btw is a weird thing to demand from a loosely autobiographical story about a real person #echoed voice
