for the writer ask: 🎈💞💌 if ya like!!
🎈describe your style as a writer; is it fixed? does it change?
I write like I'm getting paid by the word, and perhaps even get bonuses for every run-on sentence I can commit. I suppose it's the result of too much historical fiction/period fiction, but it's hard to shake even for more modern writing! I can sort of tone it down, but I feel like the residue is always there.
💞what's the most important part of a story for you? the plot, the characters, the worldbuilding, the technical stuff (grammar etc), the figurative language.
I had to sleep on this, because I genuinely could not think of an answer that seemed right to me immediately - I think, for my own writing, I pay the most attention to the setting and world-building (or at least, my writing feels the best to me when I've done a good job either imitating the feel of canon or building it out), but I appreciate characterization the most in the fic I read.

“You frightened me,” Elizabeth said. She had the ludicrous sense that her words, while in form correct, were somehow wrong – like – like seeing a pulley made of porcelain. Frightened – a bloodless word for the most blood she had ever seen – for God’s sake, she’d seen the white of bone and a horrible, greasy splattering of grey – stifling an involuntary scream, because for the second time in as many weeks, she had seen a man’s brains blown out –
Only to realize that he had not even been staggered, and that horror gave way to confusion gave way to understanding when passing through the moonlight restored him, somehow: the curse. At some point, amidst the noise and din and confusion, James Norrington had taken a piece of the gold from the chest.
(shoutout to @r-osehips for 'yes, and'-ing me into fully embracing the wild AU/follow-up to the AU I started in the vain title take Of lord of thee, and arbiter of war - that I am still terrified to be writing. there's like two separate branches of it, and this is one of them, but it's my favorite coherent piece of writing in the three different documents I've got going right now.)
