not to be #negative here but i genuinely think my enjoyment of blood and guts would’ve been increased tenfold if the camera work hadn’t been god awful 50% of the time

3/10/19 Fact or Fiction
Statement #1: ROH needs a live weekly, prime time TV show in order to stay relevant in the coming pro-wrestling broadcast landscape. FICTION - ROH's TV product certainly needs to be improved, after all the SBG show has always looked like ass compared to the HDNet show of a decade ago in terms of production value (with the honourable exception of Ian Riccaboni's commentary) but running a live show won't improve ROH's product - but what ROH certainly need to do is stop carving off chunks of their PPVs and airing those, as that only makes it look like the company has no confidence in what was recorded for their TV tapings, and that will filter through to those watching
Statement #2: You were surprised by the ending to the main event of CMLL’s 86th Anniversary show this weekend. FICTION - Negro Casas losing his hair is a pretty well-established trope in CMLL, so from that standpoint it's not a surprise he was at the receiving end of the clippers at the end of the night
Statement #3: Following Death Before Dishonor, a rematch between new ROH Champion Rush and former champion Matt Taven is something you want to see. FACT - While putting the belt on Taven was an error, as his standing meant he was off to a losing start that the booking lacked the nous to overcome, what can't be faulted is the performances that Taven put on when he held the belt so a rematch could well deliver...unless they decide to let Delirious book the match for old time's sake
Statement #4: Madison Square Garden is the best venue in the world to see live pro-wrestling. FACT - While a lot of arenas can be soulless bowls that seem to absorb any crowd noise deader than the soul of anyone whose seen The Nostalgia Critic's "review" of The Wall, MSG is one of the arenas that amplifies the crowd noise and makes cards feel so much bigger
Statement #5: A wrestling fan who doesn’t speak Spanish can never truly appreciate Mexican lucha libre. FICTION - Considering that when I started watching puro my grasp of Japanese amounted to little more than common words and phrases I'd picked up from Takeshi Kitano and Takashi Miike movies, I know that not understanding the language will mean the commentary and the promo segments will largely go over your head - but it's not the barrier that people assume it to be because, while the phrase is a cliche, if the action speaks for itself it doesn't matter what language the commentary is in
