Thinking about the Feywild arc again, (or the Gilli-gone arc as l've seen some people call it.)
I'm seeing a bunch of art come up again of Chip like cradling Destiny's Blade or being guided by Gillion and
ARGEHRG I REMEMBERED I HAVE THIS CLIP
My thoughts down here :0
I don't know how often we've seen Chip cry in Riptide, but this was so raw and heartbroken it HURTS so bad.
Chip blames himself first and foremost, because that's all he's always done. Everyone he's ever cared for he's lost without fail, and now he's losing Gillion all the same.
He should've seen this coming right? This is how it always goes. It's the same feeling of fault and guilt that leads him to consider leaving the crew later on.
“Gillion’s not here. Jay, Gillion’s not here.”
Without Gillion, Chip doesn’t know what to do.
The fact that Gillion just isn’t there upsets him enough. It doesn’t take long for Chip to panic and assume the worst, and he just misses him. Gillion isn’t there, and Chip has no idea where he is. He can only hope he’s alive.
It’s the same situation he’s found himself in his entire life, searching desperately for the family he lost with no leads or trace. Yet, he’s still willing to go to the ends of the earth to find them and he knows damn well he’s prepared to do the same for Gillion Tidestrider.
Then there’s the storm. Chip rows into the eye of the storm with Jay and is prepared to get STRUCK. BY. FUCKING! LIGHTNING! for GILLION. TIDESTRIDER. We already know this man is way too self-sacrificial but WAAAADGSHSHSH.
Mind you, Chip’s already physically and emotionally exhausted, but he still puts his life on the line to avoid risking Gillion’s life. He doesn’t even hesitate or consider as Jay tries to talk him out of it.
Honestly, I imagine it was Gillion who inspired him to do that. If the roles were reversed, Gillion would tear the world apart. Once Gillion makes up his mind, he’s not going back on it, and there’s no way Chip is going back on this. He’s gonna save Gillion, in the Gillion way.
It hurts seeing Chip of all people, with such little loved ones and so many families he’s lost, family is so so important to him. Gillion is so important to him. The poor guy can’t bear to lose again.
They mean so much to me asgshsfg,,
