The Royal Year (3/∞)
↬ The Anniversary of HRH James, Prince of Danforth's Birth
James Louis Michael George was born during a catastrophic blizzard on January 26, 1977. He was the long-awaited son and heir to King Louis V. After nine years of marriage between Louis and his wife, the birth of a son was a sign of stability—despite half the province being buried in snow. For this reason, James was the last royal child to be born at home rather than in a hospital. The snowstorm, which cut power throughout the city of Warwick, provided significant challenges to the birthing process. This was the first of several reformations to the monarchy that would take place throughout James's lifetime. Unlike his predecessors, James was educated at school rather than at home under the supervision of male relatives. He was likewise the first to attend a post-secondary institution. His upbringing at Woodbine Palace coincided with Sunderland's accelerating liberalization and decolonization. During his 1995 Investiture as Prince of Danforth, he became the first heir apparent to swear to respect and honour the distinct cultures of Sunderland's indigenous populations. He was also the first member of his family to acknowledge same-sex couples following Sunderland's 2003 legalization of gay marriage. As a young adult he became known for his fashion sense, intellect, and spontaneous public persona. James's relationship with his father has been heavily debated by royal experts and biographers. Some allege that Louis treated his eldest son as a whipping boy and scapegoat, and that towards the end of James's life, the two were at loggerheads due to conflicting social and political views. Others argued that while the two often disagreed, the relationship between King and heir was ultimately loving and far more efficient than Louis's relationship with his own father. Despite some documented periods of melancholy, James was generally charming and beloved by the people. His 1998 marriage to Lady Tatiana Farnsworth increased his public image to that of a global brand. His sudden death in 2017 led to much public mourning and international media attention and he remains a popular figure in Sunderland's culture. "The loss of James," wrote Paul Redstone in O Captain! My Captain!: Sunderland's Lost Kings (2024) "has been the largest blow to the monarchy since predecessor George was killed at Whitehall."

Extras - Courtney in a rejected version of the Gordon Aquamarine Kokoshnik. In my original plan, she actually got to wear the tiara somewhere following the wedding, but I didn't like this tiara all that much. Plus I prefer the idea of having an unseen tiara that's been sitting in the vault for over half a century. Someone will wear it eventually (probably!)

The Royal Year (4/∞)
↬ HM The King's Birthday
King Louis V was born Prince Louis Arthur George of Danforth on February 7, 1946. His birth, following an Allied victory during the Second World War, marked the start of Sunderland's contemporary era. Despite his persistent shyness, Louis is considered to be one of Sunderland's more successful monarchs and is on track to be the longest reigning should he surpass the 63-year rule of his great-great grandfather King George. Per the King's Wikipedia page: Louis’s reign has coincided with major political events such as the continuation and resolution of the Saint George Sovereignty Crisis, the further decolonization of Sunderland’s former imperial territories, several amendments to Sunderland’s constitution, and the recognition of Sunderland’s Dominion Realms as distinct societies. Louis’s reign has also seen an increase in social liberalism with the legalization of same-sex marriage, the decriminalization of abortion, and the rise of multiculturalism. As monarch, he undertakes dozens of state visits and official tours each year. Since his inauguration in 1971, Louis celebrated his Silver, Ruby, and Golden jubilees in 1995, 2010, and 2020 respectively. Despite streaks of unpopularity and press criticisms against his personal character during the early decades of his reign—in particular, after the publication of his extra-marital affairs and the subsequent estrangement from his wife—Louis’s personal popularity recovered by the turn of the century. Support for Louis and the monarchy as a whole has remained consistently high since the death of his eldest son James, Prince of Danforth in September 2017. As a cultural figure, Louis is noted for his stoicism and aloof disposition; his personal opinions and political beliefs are largely subject to conjecture.

The order of precedence in the Kingdom of Sunderland is the  hierarchy for members of the royal family. It determines members of the royal family, their relevance, and their relationship to the sovereign. It also serves as the formal ranking used at the royal court during acts of state, other than that it entails no official status or special privileges. Determining factors include, but are not limited to, birth order, place in the line of succession, distance from the reigning monarch, and gender.
The order of precedence for male members of the royal family is:
The Sovereign: Louis V
The Prince of Danforth: James (died 2017), Nicholas (since 2017)
The Sovereign’s younger sons: The Duke of Woodbine and The Duke of Sherbourne
The Sovereign’s grandsons: Prince Alexander of Danforth, Prince Samuel of Woodbine, Prince Arthur of Woodbine
The Sovereign’s brother(s): The Duke of Pape
The Sovereign’s uncles: All the male-line uncles of Louis V predeceased his reign

The Sovereign’s cousins: Frederick Warfield, 3rd Earl of Chesterfield, The Honourable George Warfield (died 2018), William Mornington, 2nd Duke of Wellesley and St. Clair (died 1992)
The order of precedence for female members of the royal family:
The Queen Consort: The Queen
Queens dowager: Queen Katherine (died 2018), Queen Anne (died 1972)
The Princess of Danforth: Tatiana (until 2017),
The Dowager Princess of Danforth: Tatiana (since 2017), Ruby (died 2006)
Wives of the Sovereign's younger sons: The Duchess of Woodbine (divorced 2018), The Duchess of Sherbourne
The Sovereign's daughter: The Princess Jacqueline, Countess Belmont
Wives of the Sovereign's grandsons: As of 2028, the Sovereign's four grandsons remain unmarried
The Sovereign's granddaughters: Princess Imogen of Sherbourne, Lady Kathryn Belmont, Lady Mia Belmont
Wives of the sovereign's brothers: The Duchess of Pape
The Sovereign's sisters: The current Sovereign has no sisters.
Wives of the Sovereign's uncles: The Duchess of Glencairn (died 1988)
The Sovereign's aunts: The Princess Elizabeth, Countess of Chesterfield (died 1995) and The Princess Alice, Duchess of Wellesley and St. Clair (died 1998)

OC Height Tag
This was something cool I was tagged in this game by @morrigan-sims! I spent a lot of time thinking about this, so it took longer than I expected. It was hard for me to think of who to include and who not to include. Ultimately, I didn't include children, because they'll be growing very fast as the story progresses. I also included Alex's future spouse, as you can see. The ??? isn't to be vague, I literally don't have a name for her yet and what I do call her "the cult wife" is well . . . not that great. So, suggestions? I'm looking for very crunchy, almond mom names that are not too uncommon. Like Dawn or Sutton or Amethyst.
I knew some things (Louis and Irene being the same height, Alex and Arthur being taller than their big brothers, Ruby being "fun-sized", etc.) but it's really great to have this visual guide for future reference. There are also some funny things here, like James II being shorter than Katherine despite all their joint portraits showing him towering over her like Godzilla. I discussed Katherine's height causing her to get smaller tiaras as a newlywed HERE.
Anyway, I tag @funkyllama, @thegrimalldis, @theroyalthrones, @armoricaroyalty, @ardeney-sims and anyone else who wants to do this challenge. It's really fun. I got my images from CAS, but you can use this website.
I stole that height pun from the Daily Mail, you're welcome.

↬ Georgiyevna Tiara
The Georgiyevna Tiara, also known as Grand Duchess Anastasia's Kokoshnik Tiara, was bought by Queen Matilda Mary in 1922 for the price of $47,807. The tiara was sold to the new queen by Grand Duchess Maria Alexandrovna of Russia, daughter of the tiara's original owner, Grand Duchess Anastasia Georgiyevna. Grand Duchess Anastasia, born Princess Adelaide of Sunderland, was a sister of Matilda Mary's husband, King Nicholas. The grand duchess was a huge admirer of jewellery and her collection became world-renowned for its size and value. Among her collection was a Bolin diamond tiara adorned with 23 cabochon aquamarines. Anya, as the grand duchess was called, received the tiara among several other gifts ahead of her 1894 wedding to Grand Duke Alexander Alexandrovich of Russia, a younger brother of Tsar Nicholas II. Like several of her Romanov relatives, Anya was imprisoned and eventually murdered following the Russian Revolution of 1917. Her jewels remained hidden in Petrograd until they were smuggled out of Russia, along with her surviving daughters, by Sunderlandian operatives. Over the next few years, Anya's daughters sold pieces of their mother's jewelry collection to support their lives in exile, with their aunt Matilda Mary making several large purchases to ensure certain jewels stayed within the family. Anya's ailing mother, Dowager Queen Alexandra, was heartbroken by the fate of her Russian family and forbade any of Anya's jewels to be worn in her presence. Following Alexandra's death in 1926, Matilda Mary began wearing the tiara for formal events and photographs. She had the tiara altered to accommodate drop pearls, which could easily be swapped with the original aquamarines. The tiara was passed down and eventually inherited by Queen Irene following the death of Queen Anne in 1973. Irene has worn the tiara consistently and it is rumoured to be her favourite tiara.

The Royal Year (2/∞)
↬ HRH Princess Imogen of Sherbourne's birthday
Imogen Alice Irene Katherine was born on January 20, 2022, the first child of the Duke and Duchess of Sherbourne. At birth, she was seventh in line to the throne. Despite this, Imogen's birth prompted unprecedented media attention. The fact that she was the first princess born into the family in over thirty years was widely reported. Following the departure of The Duke of Woodbine, Imogen's uncle, from royal life, her parents' workload grew significantly, leading to increased publicity for the family. Imogen sometimes accompanied her parents on public engagements and was often described as a morale boost amid family drama and heartbreak. Imogen currently lives at her family's fifty-archer country seat, Greenwood Park. Like a few of her older cousins, she attends Castle Frank School, where she's observed to be a shy girl with few friends. According to sources, Imogen will only talk "if her mother is around". Another source added, “she’s capable of being lively, we’ve all seen it, but she doesn’t do well away from her family.”

↬ Farnsworth Tiara
The Farnsworth Tiara is perhaps one of the most recognizable royal tiaras in Sunderland—despite never being owned by the royal family! The tiara was made not for a Queen, but for a Countess. Ellinor Farnsworth was the wife of the 6th Earl Farnsworth, making her matriarch of one of Sunderland's most influential families. In 1953, Ellinor was appointed as Lady of the Bedchamber to Queen Anne, a prestigious position that required attendance at several royal events. That very year, Ellinor commissioned a tiara, the second in her growing collection. This new tiara featured diamond elements belonging to the family since the tenure of the 3rd Earl Farnsworth in the early nineteenth century. Ellinor wore the tiara throughout her years of service, which lasted until Anne's death in 1973. Following Ellinor's own death in 1988, the tiara was inherited by the 7th Earl, Spencer Farnsworth. All three of Spencer's daughters would wear the tiara on their wedding days. The first and eldest Farnsworth bride was Lady Vasillia Farnsworth, who married Jeremy Royce in 1994. Jeremy was the elder son of King Louis V's private secretary, and the wedding was attended by members of the royal family. In 1996, Lady Anya Farnsworth wore the tiara for her wedding to Tory politician George Villeneuve. However, the tiara's most famous day in the sun came on December 9, 1998, when the Earl's youngest daughter, Lady Tatiana, wore the tiara for her wedding to the Prince of Danfroth. The tiara featured in another family wedding when Spencer's only son Peter (now the 8th Earl Farnsworth) married the first of his three wives, Veronica Carter, in 2005. Today Peter owns the tiara, but he has consistently loaned the tiara to his youngest sister, allowing Tatiana the freedom to wear the tiara to state events and galas. Since 1999, the tiara has gone on display on several occasions both on its own and alongside the Princess's wedding gown. Today Tatiana remains the tiara's primary wearer. However, despite popular belief, neither of her two sons is eligible to inherit the jewel. Upon the princess's death, the tiara will return to the Farnsworth family for good. Claims that the princess's granddaughter Margaux-Grace Warwick will someday wear the tiara are unfounded.

↬ Queen Anne's Garland Tiara
Another Garrard & Co. staple in the royal collection, Queen Anne's Garland Tiara was originally a diamond necklace the then Anne, Princess of Danforth received from her husband George on the occasion of their 10th wedding anniversary in 1923. For whatever reason, Anne wasn't fond of the necklace, describing it in her diary as quite ugly. The following year, Anne's necklace was dismantled and the diamonds repurposed for this exquisite sparkler, which was inspired by the romantic style that dominated jewellery before the Great War. Anne would go on to wear the tiara for several portraits, including the publicity materials for her 1930 inauguration. Like most tiaras of this era, it was worn across the forehead, rather than atop the head. Following Anne's death, the tiara was scooped up by her granddaughter-in-law, Phyllis. The new Duchess of Pape received the tiara in 1980, mere weeks after her wedding to King Louis's younger brother. Frequently worn throughout the Duchess's years of service the tiara became one of her most recognizable, second only to her famed Déléage tiara. Phyllis so adored the garland tiara that she loaned it to a third generation. Her new daughter-in-law, Angela Maria Ortiz, wore the tiara at her 2013 wedding to the Earl of Donlands, Phyllis's elder son. The tiara gained a sizable amount of attention, as Angela was the first woman of African descent to marry into the Warwick dynasty. The wedding was attended by over 600 prominent guests. Since Phyllis's retirement in 2018, the tiara's whereabouts have been debated. Some jewel lovers insist Phyllis returned the tiara to the royal vault after being relieved of her duties, while others believe the tiara remains in Phyllis's possession and will be inherited by Angela Donlands in due course.

↬ Princess Katherine's Diamond Palmette Tiara
Princess Katherine's Palmette Tiara was made by Cartier in 1941 and purchased by the then Prince James of Danforth (later King James II) for his fiancé, Lady Katherine Rothman, two weeks ahead of their wedding. Initially wealthy Sunderlandian aristocracy, the Rothman family fell upon hard times after the Wall Street Crash of 1929, resulting in most of the family's jewellery and property being sold. Katherine was moved by the gift and wrote to her mother: My darling Jim presented me with the most thoughtful gift: my first-ever tiara. I couldn't belive (sic) my eyes! Shall tearsure (sic) it forever! The tiara was tailored to the needs of the inexperienced Katherine, who stood at almost 6 feet tall and didn't need the extra height and weight of a larger tiara. The palmette tiara was therefore relatively small, but consisted of over a thousand recycled diamonds from the royal family’s collection. The tiara features eight palmette elements that converge on a scroll centrepiece topped with diamonds. Katherine wore the tiara throughout the early years of her marriage until her accession as queen in 1956, after which she inherited several other tiaras. The tiara was deemed perfect for younger princesses and those with little experience with tiaras. In 1980, Katherine loaned the tiara to her newlywed daughter-in-law Phyllis, who had a middle-class background. Phyllis wore the tiara on and off during her time as a senior royal, but favoured the tiaras she would later purchase as Duchess of Pape. In the nineties, Princess Jacqueline, daughter of Louis V, became the next borrower of the tiara. The princess made her first tiara appearance with the diamond palmette for the 1993 Opening of Parliament, leading the tiara to become known as Baby's First Tiara or simply Baby's First within the family. Jacqueline wore the tiara several times before her marriage. Following Jacqueline's marriage, the tiara disappeared into the vault and hasn't been worn publicly for several decades. The tiara still remains within the family's possession, with Louis V inheriting it after the passing of his mother in 2018, and it's possible the tiara might reemerge once younger girls within the family, mainly Princess Imogen of Sherbourne and Miss Margaux-Grace Warwick, come of age. It might even make the perfect bridal diadem for the next generation of royal consorts.
