Did you listen to Volodymyr Ivasiuk today yet?
youtube
One of the best Ukrainian pop|estrade song writer and musician.
Killed by KGB in 1979 when he was only 30 y.o.
"We, Ukrainians, become nationalists from the cradle if our mothers sing us Ukrainian lullabies. That is why we are re-educated in concentration camps."
He was referring to the Soviet regime targeting people for being a tad more Ukrainian than was acceptable for them.

Bruh. Zero days without prorussian artists in hetalia drawing them together. And of course russia is in the centre, while its "sisters" hold its hands. What else could we expect from the same artist who drew Ukraine being guilty of russian invasion?
Volodymyr Ivasiuk was killed by russia in 1979, btw.

Volodymyr
Tumblr media
I began my research on Volodymyr, and I found the story of his death particularly intriguing. The death of composer Volodymyr Ivasiuk, discovered on May 18, marked a pivotal moment in Ukrainian music history. Found hanging from a beech branch in the Bryukhovytskyi forest, the official ruling of suicide has been met with skepticism and ongoing controversy. Despite multiple investigations, including 2009 reopening and subsequent closures due to lack of evidence, questions surrounding his demise persist. Conclusions from the Kyiv Research Institute of Forensic Examinations suggest Ivasiuk was physically incapable of suicide, further fueling speculation. Former Deputy Prosecutor General Mykola Golomsha's declaration during the Right to Power program in 2021, asserting Ivasiuk was hanged post-mortem, added to the intrigue. Many perceive his death as emblematic of broader oppression under the Soviet regime, raising concerns about a concerted effort to suppress Ukrainian identity.
This inspired me to express my thoughts and interpretations through my artwork. I envisioned musical symbols hanging from trees, the notes symbolize his identity as an artist. By hanging musical symbols from trees, I aimed to depict not only his passing but also his essence and legacy as a musician. My artwork is my way of expressing my belief that Volodymyr Ivasiuk's death was unjust. It is also my way of standing up for Ukraine and speaking out against any unfair treatment its people may face.

Lietukr but it's Пісня буде поміж нас by Volodymyr Ivasiuk
Tumblr media
The Road stretches from your Gate
To my gate like a string.
So why have your lonely trace been lost,
Only you know, you know...
The cold autumn has not yet covered that trace with leaves,
Because in spring I'll return to you, beloved.
I’ll hold your hands in my hands again.
And the yellow bloom of parting won’t bloom between us again.
Don’t hide the blue beam of your eyes.
Sing to me for the last time.
I’ll take this song with me as a memory,
The song will be between us.
Cause your voice, cause your voice is a generous flood.
I'm like ear of grain, a green ear full with it.
The yellow leaf will fall away, and a green one will grow,
And you’ll always be with me in the song

Volodymyr Ivasyuk
I decided to look more into Volodymyr. However, I researched I got confused the names and researched Volodymyr Zelenskyy (president of Ukraine).
Volodymyr Ivasyuk, founder of Ukrainian pop music. I researched more about his death after the Ukrainian fellow student shared this on fIgma.
Tumblr media
This sparked my curiosity and interest in getting to know more abut this incident. I am very interested in corrupt politician murder mystery therefore this was best thing for me to work on.
On May 18, the composer's body was discovered. In the Bryukhovytskyi forest, his body was found by a radio operator who was a soldier during training. The body was hanging from a belt on a beech branch. According to the investigation, "suicide by hanging" was the reason of his death. The death of Ivasiuk marked a turning point in the history of the Ukrainian music scene. Even after 43 years, there are still a lot of unanswered questions and contradictions in this tale.
2009 saw a reopening of the Ivasiuk case by the Ukrainian General Prosecutor's Office. However, the investigation was once more closed in 2012 for "lack of evidence." The inquiry was extended multiple times, most recently in 2014. A year later, Roman Fedyk, the former Lviv region prosecutor, publicly declared that the composer was “killed by representatives of the Soviet special services,” but his remarks were ignored.
Given the circumstances surrounding his death, Volodymyr Ivasiuk "was physically unable to commit suicide," according to the Kyiv Research Institute of Forensic Examinations' 2019 conclusion. Ultimately, during the Right to Power programme in 2021, former Deputy Prosecutor General Mykola Golomsha declared in real time, "We established that he was hanged being already dead." Again there was stillness in place of the debates that ought to have continued. This all added upto people thinking the same terrorist dictatorship that killed the brilliant musician from Ukraine also killed the Ukrainian people, with the intention of eliminating the Ukrainian national character.
