We found a better reference of our Ann Demeulemeester FW1998 coat. It was worn open on the runway, hiding the asymmetric closure. Sneaky sneaky. A leather version shows off the model better. One of the lapels was folded inwards, a styling option which we did not include in our model pictures. But here you have it. Both images are taken from the Ann book. With the sad news of Ann Demeulemeester coming out, we are here to brighten up the day with pieces of the good old times. Two printed garments designed by the queen herself. First a black paint splattered skirt from the fall 2005 collection. Heavily draped with a bustle forming in the back. Larger braids tie around the waist, much like a monk's habit. This season was infused with winks to the clergy such as beaded rosaries. Combined with a fall 2011 vest with a black and white bird print. Again a reference to religion, but now biblical. Printed doves presenting the Holy Spirit, crowns of thorns were printed on t-shirts and even necklaces were twisted around models' heads to reference this Christ thorn. You know when your vacation is coming up and your motivation for work drops to zero? Yeah that's what it's like right now. Still posting things on instagram and facebook to keep their algorythm happy for now, but in my mind I am already thinking about planting my tomatoes. March is (pre)sowing month for the garden, and I am super excited to be scooping compost for 3 weeks! It will be a nice break to not talk about fashion for a month. I can also probably hold a conversation much longer about my favourite broccoli than about Margiela. (Spoiler: it's Kailaan broccoli) Super convenient that we're taking about spring... The more buttons, the better the Ann piece in my opinion. (yes straps and laces too) This one has 8(!) buttons on each side. I especially like the loops as button closures, so that even when you leave it semi-unbuttoned, it still keeps that double-breasted design.⁠ ⁠ One of the most recognizable Ann pieces in my opinion, a mix between a 19th century military coat and some freak circus director.⁠ ⁠ So every time I spot these fall 2005 coats, I buy buy buy! All versions have sold already, but if you prefer, there's a long version of this online too.⁠ ⁠ Both are size 40 but slightly different in measurements, so best to check both out to see which fits better. That's also why I always put up measurements.
