As news broke out of the fateful betrothed between two kings and long time friends were canceled, the land was overrun with gossip centering around the mad princess who would force a father to break his oath. It was interesting. If this were her first life, she would have crumpled under such rumors. But now she could listen in and smile as her maids and attendants try their best to shield her but ultimately fail at protecting her from the harsh world of gossip.

However this was a first to catch a pair of nobles talking disgracing her honor. She stood for a moment to listen.

'Turning down the King's proposal? To rule her own land? Preposterous!'

'His highness Leodegrance must have gone mad if he's even considering letting a woman rule'

'If I were him I would beat sense into that child!'

'Such beauty is wasted on that strange woman.'

"Goodness I didn't know noblemen of your stature had so much free time that they would fuss over such meaningless things." She spoke up, startling them. And of course when confronted with their grievous actions they would apologize deeply, begging for forgiveness. It was cruel of her but she did enjoy seeing them grovel and squirm. 'I'm sorry please forgive me for uttering such thoughtless words my King!' King? Confused she turns around to see Arthur behind her, ah no wonder they were so quick to beg for forgiveness, but why was he here?

"My apologies your grace I didn't know you were here. Is there something you need?"

Our presence? It was certainly strange to hear Arthur refer to himself like that but the confusion was short lived as the reason why soon came to light. He was referring to all the other ‘Arthur’s running around. Though it was sad that he had this sort of thought, that she was bothered by them being there. While it was true that Arthur could easily have the knights listen to him above her, it wasn’t something that bothered her. There was a good reason as to why that was and had no problem telling him. He deserved to know and be reassured.

So a soft smile came to the Master’s face as she looked up at the King of Knights. “I’m not bothered at all! In fact, I’m honored that you’re all here to help me with the others. When it comes to your authority with the knights, it’s a good thing they would listen to you should the need ever arise. Since I have to head out into danger with you all, if I were ever hurt and unable to lead; they could depend on you. So please, don’t ever feel like I see you as a bother. You’re a great and dependable friend, Arthur..”

“Sorry for making you come here this late.” It had been a busy month for the both of them--Misha with her theater company and Arthur with the agency--and trying to wrangle their schedules to meet at least once had been an effort in futility. In the midst of the chaos, she’d finally thrown up her hands, texted him at 8 PM that “if the director gets his shit together we’ll be out of here by 11, if you’re up come to Mahoney Theater” and finally gotten to see his face for longer than a minute. She was slouched, clothes faintly rumpled, dark circles under her eyes and some grays springing up from her hair--it was characteristically uncharacteristic of her. The stage manager tended toward impeccable presentation at the best of times but theater productions took no prisoners. She smothered a yawn with the sleeve of her jacket but her red eyes glittered, keen as she shoved a gift-wrapped box into his arms. “Here. Happy Birthday.”

A small smile curved on her lips, faintly sheepish. “I know it’s a bit early but word is the company’ll be heading out again soon and I didn’t want to be late.” She could have mailed it, too, but she’d be damned if she didn’t get to see his reaction this time.
