So, in Brazilian politics and technology and elections news, the first deep-fake video of this year’s electoral race has popped up and gotten widely shared on social media in the country.

Since Wednesday morning (17),merely one day after the start of the official electoral campaign period, a montage - reasonably well done - has been circulating on WhatsApp, Twitter, and Youtube that mixes the voice of Jornal Nacional presenter Renata Vasconcellos with the results of a false poll of voting intentions. The video is, in fact, an alteration of the August 15 edition of the newscast. It’s something perfectly capable of deceiving voters.

First, the recording features Renata announcing that there is a new poll for voting intentions for the first round of this year's election. It then shows a screen with a bar graph visually identical to the one used by the broadcaster in the same program. But those who follow election polls closely notice two changes: the photo of President Jair Bolsonaro's face appears in first place, with 44%, and that of former president Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva in second, with 32%; the latest poll released by Ipec shows, however, the exact opposite - Lula in first, with 44% of voting intentions, and Bolsonaro in second, with 32%
