it's out of sheer will that the bakugou keeps them upright at first. when the other blonde insistently plants kisses all over his face, though, he ends up stumbling and falling back, face dashed with pink from the bombardment of affection ╱ he does, at least, make sure camie isn't falling like he does.

he allows it to persist for a little before he's nudging her away with a hand, trying very hard to hide his face. he is not used to this. not only the affection part, but the whole golden retriever and boundless energy from his girlfriend.

goddammit. where's his chance to return the favour, anyway ?

     AKARI KNEW her brother was coming -- - his footsteps echo towards where she sits on the living room couch, blanket on her lap as she watches another dumb reality TV show. she doesn’t turn to see him, assuming hotaru was simply going to the kitchen or something, but that soon changes when she feels him grab and attempt to drag the blanket away from her. akari yells, grabbing at the blanket quickly like her LIFE depended on it, and soon the siblings were in a match of tug - of - war. “ taru, STOP. ” but her older brother clearly had a better grip and head start on the action, and soon enough the blanket was out of her hands. “ WHAT was that for ? ” akari whines, and soon follows up it with -- - “ DAD, taru stole my blanket ! ” ( weren’t little sisters supposed to be annoying and tattle immediately ? she was just doing her JOB ).

    “ah, you’re the hero student from shiketsu right??” he questions, head tilting to the side as he speaks. he’s heard a LOT about her. he pauses then, maybe he shouldn’t just announce that. “you’ve got an impressive quirk too, i’ve heard. now what was your quirk again?? if you don’t mind me asking, that is.”

battle after battle, the scars accumulated. katsuki hasn't let them bother him since obtaining any of them ⸺ they were just a reminder of the fights he had to fight, the events of his life carved indiscriminately into fair skin, some ragged and raised and taut. if people were to ask about them when his sleeves are rolled up, he speaks of them in a clean, medical manner ╱ obtained because of his right arm being shattered, requiring intervention and proper surgery. or if it was the lightning scars ; those were an exposure to weather events, called upon while they were on nabu island. they were just a part of his path to heroism.

but mina refers to those same scars as a roadmap ; suddenly, they weren't just events he would gloss over, medically described in sterile words. they were a retelling of every event he survived. they stand to remind him that each battle he ventured into might have left a mark on clear skin, but he persevered through them anyway, unyielding even when he should have yielded. they taunt and torment as much as they bring him peace ╱ he won the battles, survived the wars.

soft and slender rose fingers graze over the blond's scars, gentle and tender, her gaze gentle and observant. katsuki's breath hitches as she traces across jagged scars along the palm of his hand. scarlet gaze, once harsh and stern, softens a fraction while the sharpened knitting of his brows relax, the tension in his shoulders melting away the more time she spends contemplating their presence. he almost can't find the words. she is admiring such a recent history and seeing them as more than just another mark on skin ; a mosaic of his victories.

❝ ... guess so. ❞ katsuki doesn't tug away his arm, only glancing up to catch black sclera and golden irises. ❝ 's what happens over time. ❞

a pause. eventually, crimson falls back on the scars scattering his hands and arms.

❝ what's catchin' your interest this time ? ❞ katsuki reaches with his free hand to rest over hers, palm calloused but comfortably warm to the touch. ❝ somethin' you wanna know ? i can tell you my point of view behind 'em. ❞

sunbae only gets a grunt at first. katsuki runs a hand through dishevelled spiky blond, face scrunching up for a moment when he touches a head injury he hadn't noticed before ⸺ rough day was ... one way to put it. it was on the news a little earlier that day ; dynamight got himself into an entanglement of four other villains, the number three pro taking them down in record speed. ( his own record, at least ╱ he hasn't beat izuku's yet. or keisuke's. )

it just meant he got a bit roughed up at the end of his patrol, and he wasn't willing to get distracted from hero work until he was back at the agency.

❝ it's fine, ❞ katsuki huffs, though he winces when he presses against his wound again. eh. surface level, but sore. ❝ day only gets worse from here. don't i got some paperwork or whatever to do ? 𝗜𝗧  𝗪𝗔𝗦  𝗧𝗢𝗢  𝗟𝗔𝗧𝗘  𝗙𝗢𝗥  𝗧𝗛𝗜𝗦 .      well,   late for katsuki,   seeing as it was just barely past 9pm      ⸺      but seeing as it was camie calling and the blond was not one for just ignoring his girlfriend’s calls,   he picks up the phone,   goes to grumble at her for disturbing him while he was trying to sleep.     at least,   he  would  have.     the moment camie starts singing through the phone,   though,   katsuki stares blankly at the screen,   with the contact text reading ‘illusions’ and her voice resonating through his phone’s speaker.

it wasn’t that katsuki hates it      ╱      no,   he actually  enjoys  her singing voice,   likes to hear it on the rare occasion that she decides to put it on display.     and he doesn’t mind that she’s missing him,   considering their schedules between u.a. and shiketsu never seem to align after their remedial classes.     but ⸺

after a few more moments of listening to camie,   katsuki hangs up.

the blond lets it sit that way for a little while,   crimson staring at the screen to watch for her reaction      ⸺      not that the reaction will  matter  much,   since he plans to call her back regardless of what she does,   thumb hovering over the call button for a few seconds.     when he finally hits it,   puts the phone up to his ear,   he waits for camie to pick up.     and when she does,   the young bakugou huffs through the speaker.

❝    yer annoyin’ as hell.    ❞     he shifts in his bed to stare up at the ceiling,   putting his phone on speaker and placing it where he won’t knock it off anything.     ❝    maybe i’ll stay on call if y’don’t keep annoyin’ the shit outta me with  soulja  boy.    ❞
