Vaporum: Lockdown - Blast Review

Developer: Fatbot Games s.r.o Rrp: £14.99 (Gog.com, Humblebundle and Steam)

I was going to give this game its own fully fledged review just like I did for its predecessor, however having played through the entire game there really isn't any point. This game really is more of the same, not that that's a bad thing at all, I greatly enjoyed Vaporum, even gave it a spot in my yearly round-up for 2018. As far as tile based dungeon crawlers go this is one of the better ones to play.

So what can I say about this game? Well for one I found it to be more challenging than its predecessor, in part this was because of the optional special challenge area (or 'Special Experiments Compound' as the game calls it) that features very difficult puzzles that give a good chunk of extra experience for completing them. But it wasn't just that, the standard puzzles that are all around the game seemed to be more difficult than before... or maybe I'm out of practise, which is totally possible.

I do have one bugbear with the game though, and that's to do with the inclusion of certain characters that appear. While this game is a prequel, in order to understand certain events, especially toward the end of the game, you really need to have played (or at least go on to play) the original game. Without that knowledge the way certain characters look or behave will make little to no sense.

If you can get past that though (or play the original game before this one) then you're in for a great time and a fine expansion into the Vaporum universe. I look forward to seeing what Fatbot Games create next.

Therefore, this time around you encounter nastier enemies. Due to each having improved unique strengths and attack patterns. And to beat beat them, you have to employ a huge array of weapons. While including various gadgets, upgrades, and smart tactics.

Vaporum: Lockdown dungeon crawler still coming to Linux gaming as well as Mac, with Windows PC. Thanks to developer Fatbot Games which has released it's PC debut on Humble Store, GOG and Steam. Vaporum: Lockdown by Fatbot Games is a grid based single player dungeon crawler. Which also takes place in an original steampunk setting.
