also everyone is talking about the tragedy of loustat bench scene which, i agree, was heartbreaking. but there's also a tragedy in the following loumand bench scene because armand says "i want you more than anything in the world" but louis clearly doesn't feel the same. but he is like, alright. i will take care of everything.

also "he feels the same way this is why he lets dreamstat go" yeah, and he still never moves on from lestat and armand knows it. i do think louis cares for armand. i also do think louis, at least in the show, just doesn't want armand desperately, the way armand wants him.

the scene where louis calls calls armand arun was like... i gasped! I thought it was so romantic like i did not see it as louis being malicious. I think louis recognized armand was actively asking louis to "paint" a picture of him. so louis chose to use armand's original name to paint him. like yes louis takes a dom role in doing that but dominating someone can be suchhhhh a loving act like i really thought it was an incredible kindness. (especially since louis doesnt top LMAO)

but seriously I think maybe there is an element of louis realizing how precarious his and claudia's position is so that could motivate him giving armand what he wants but I don't think it's totally disingenuous. I mean he literally disregard claudia for armand (evil&horrible move) because he really is invested in armand. I think when armand, who holds a lot of power over louis and claudia (threatened to kill both of them and clearly can), asked louis to take control and give armand purpose/role/name -- it was a very sweet choice of louis to pick arun as armand's name in that moment. he's saying i see YOU.

like being dominated is what armand was actively seeking in that moment. louis wasn't like forcing him into that subservient position (like r u kidding he's so disappointed lol) armand wanted that. is armands trauma part of why he thinks he needs/wants that? yes! a lot of people love bdsm for that reason lol. trauma motivating freaky sex doesn't mean doms are abusers, they are literally providing a safe space for the sub to explore complicated feelings and desires so the opposite of an abusive situation where everything is forced and unsafe. I don't think louis was trying to manipulate him "like a pimp" -- I think he was meeting his partner/situationship's emotional request. like yeah that gives him some power over armand emotionally but that's what armand wanted. its play! ultimately, armand can still decide to kill them both. his power over louis and claudia didn't disappear. the turning point wasn't a big material power shift, it was that they both entered in some loonytoons bdsm game with each other that they play out for centuries.

He didn't so much hear Armand come in as he felt Armand come in. Like a moment of nullity moving through the room, a presence that was not a presence. A ghost.

“Daniel...” Armand sat down on the bed, his weight depressing the mattress lightly.

“No...go away.” Daniel tried to turn away but he was sweating and shivering, too cold, too hot.

“It's all right, Daniel. I'm here.” Armand shifted, bringing his legs up and lying down beside Daniel, moving into Daniel's arms. “I'm here.”

“You feel good.” Daniel pressed his cheek against Armand's cool forehead, sighing. He wrapped his arms tight around Armand and it was as though he could feel the heat melt away from him, soaking into Armand.

“My poor Daniel.” Armand stroked Daniel's pale hair. Daniel had only the faintest roughness of stubble clinging to his jaw, and his mussed hair had been cut and clipped in a slick modern style that suited him. Even his ruined clothes were new. That man had taken good care of him.

Daniel shifted, so he could move closer to Armand, so he could press his entire body against Armand. The fever was burning up inside Daniel, and Armand felt the twinge of that old fear, the fear of sickness and the death it brought. So often over the years he had seen Daniel shrug off coughs and chills that it had made him wonder at the strength of these modern mortals.

Death. His fingers brushed through Daniel's hair and Daniel sighed, turning so Armand's hand moved against his cheek. Just hiding under the skin, just beyond the bones. He wondered if he pressed his ear to Daniel's chest, if he could hear the little cells inside of him slowly dying, bursting and floating away.

“I won't let you.” Armand kissed his eyelids, speaking so softly that it was more for his own sake than Daniel's. “Not right now.” And he made that little cut on his throat and guided Daniel to to it. Daniel's dry lips moved against him, at first sluggish, but then he caught the taste of it and his mouth moved hungry.
