I decided to look through a book written by one of the founders of converstion therapy and

It's quite the comfort to know that, no matter what I do, I will never be as much of a failure as the person who wrote this book.

#sorenhoots #like i worry a lot about being good enough and doing good and all that. and then i read something like this and realize i have preposterous #standards for myself. if my every waking moment isnt dedicated to efficient betterment--that is actually fine! i am still a good person. #unlike this person who had such a laughable interpretation of the human psyche that i cannot make it one paragraph without giggling about #how fucking wrong he was about everything. i am also very angry about it but that emotion isnt very sustainable so i have set it down and #allowed myself to simply laugh at this fool. the only psychological improvement this person EVER contributed to the world is via the #“laughter is the best medicine” route as i read his thoughts and chortle over the miraculous depth to his foolishness.
