Eating For One

I am also participating in @choicesaugustchallenge​​​ day # 25 kiss and make up. 

This is The Meet Chapter 8.  To catch up on what you’ve been missing so far, please click The Meet.

I decided to make this a Prequel to Greek Meat . If you haven’t read it, it’s a funny read. 

The Book: TRR AU (no royals) Pairings:  Liam x Jilian  (Liam x F!OC) / Leo x Bebe (Leo x F!OC) Word Count: 1864 Warnings: Profanity, sexual innuendo Rating: PG

Summary: The couples go out on a double dinner date.  Riley leaves for California.  

Leo, Liam, and Riley belong to PB,  Jilian belongs to @queenjilian​​​ , and all other characters are my own to tell our story.  

Bebe glanced at Leo.  Damnit, Bebe had ghosted people, or put them on the block list for less.  He freaking forgot about her, causing her to wait out in the sweltering North Carolina summer heat and humidity for him for over an hour.  She had told him things were okay, but she was still angry with him.

“I’m going to have to take a shower before we go out to dinner, I feel disgusting.” 

“Alright.”  

Once back at Liam and Leo’s apartment, Bebe quickly greeted everyone and made a quick beeline for the shower to get freshened up for their night out.  Her leaving some clothes in Leo’s closet really saved her today.   The outfit  she had planned to wear out that night with a few minor accessory tweaks, was a total loss and she felt like she had swamp ass in it.

She stared at herself in the mirror, straightening her dress. Not as cute as outfit number one, but it would do fine in this pinch.

Walking back out of Leo's room he abruptly stood and smiled at her. “You look beautiful Bee.”  

“Thanks.”  

“Everyone ready?”  I’ll drive.”  

They all headed out to Liam’s vehicle, and it took him no time to get everyone to the restaurant.  

The restaurant was crowded but thankfully they had gotten reservations so there wasn’t a wait, as they were quickly seated when they arrived.  When the waitress arrived for drink orders, Leo ordered himself a drink and one for Bebe.

“I’m not drinking tonight, can you make that vanilla rum and coke a sweet tea instead?”  

He looked surprised at Bebe.

“I have to work tomorrow, and early.  I’m not trying to be all hungover at work.”  

“I understand, I’m still drinking, but I have to pick up your car for you in the morning.”

“I’m guessing you mean ‘we’?” Liam inquired.

“It would save me not having to get a ride share to the mechanic, and then back home from Bebe’s job.  Thanks Li, I owe you one.”

“You’re buying our dinner tonight. That's how I'm collecting.”

“I can buy my own….”  Jili started to say.

Liam softly shushed her.  “I was buying your meal, so it’s like me eating it, now me doing a favor for my brother, he’s got me.   We’re teaching him a lesson.  Not being responsible gets expensive.”

“I know I made a mistake, but Bebe, forgave me for it.”  

Did she though?

 Jili thought Bebe looked like she was in her place of quiet anger. 

 Jili raised an eyebrow at Liam.  

“You guys know I'm indecisive. What's everyone getting?”  Bebe asked.

“The whole left side of the menu looks great, I think I’m going for that.”   Jili chuckled.

“You’re worse than me Jili, and hit him where it hurts!"  Liam laughed out loud.

Leo glanced around the table.  "I see how y'all are."

There was silence as everyone looked at their menus and ate some of the complementary bread sticks.

Liam affectionately put his arm around Jili as she sat in the booth with him, they smiled at each other.  

Leo glanced at Bebe raising an eyebrow. She nodded in agreement.

“Jili and Liam… there’s actually something we wanted to tell you.” Leo started saying.

He took Bebe's hand in his.

Jili’s eyes widened, and she gasped loudly.

“Oh my GOD!!!!  You’ve never turned down alcohol Bebe, are you pregnant?”  

Bebe spit out her drink she had been sipping.

“WHAT?!?!?! OH GOD NO!!!!!!! Bleh!!!!!"

“I thought you wanted kids someday Bebe?”

“The operative word in that sentence is SOMEDAY.  As in not right now!

“Oh my god, my bad Bebe. It’s where my head went, I have three pregnant nurses that report to me. And everyone has baby fever at work."

"He can't even pick me up on time, do you think I'd have a baby with him? Seriously? I would have to murder him the first time he forgot to pick up our child from school."

Liam heard Bebe's reaction but he was glancing at his brother.  Liam winced at the expression on his brother’s face. Leo actually looked hurt.

Maybe Bebe was still feeling some kind of way about earlier, because that was some serious shade she was throwing.  

Leo finished his drink in one long gulp.

"Excuse me for a moment.”  Leo jumped up from the table abruptly walking away.  

“Oh come on! He has no right to be butt hurt, he wasn’t the one  left waiting for me for over an hour.”  

“I mean……”  Liam started to say and then shut his mouth.  Part of the reason Liam shut his mouth was that Bebe wasn’t his friend like that.  Conversations like that, those knowledge bombs, have to be dropped by someone close to you that knows you for you to truly be receptive. He glanced at Jili, and she seemed to know what was on his mind.  She nodded slightly in agreement.

“Bebe, you know you were savage with that comment.”

“Not you too Jili.”  

“Bebe… you know…”

“He forgot me!”

“Did you tell him that?!?!?!? Don’t do the passive aggressive anger thing with him.  Well maybe not so passive. If you have a problem you talk about it, you don’t air it like that, Bebe with someone you care about, and you care about Leo right?”

Jili was completely right and Bebe knew it.

“Things weren’t supposed to be this complicated!”  Bebe got up looking for Leo.

“Are we couples counselors now?”  Kind of feels like we are.”  

“They’re definitely a couple.  They weren’t before, but they are now.”  

“Awwwe, we witnessed their first fight. Our little babies are growing up.”  

Liam chuckled at Jili.  “You’re so silly.  He does like her, but he’s not been in a relationship like this before.  He’s never had to think of anyone but himself.  But enough about them. Let’s talk about us.”  

He slipped his arms around Jilian, nipping her neck.

“Mmmmm…. I already like where this is going Mr. Rys.”  

"I just want you to know how much I care about you Jilian. I……. love you Jilian.” 

Jili’s eyes widened, and Liam wiped the tears that fell from her cheeks.

“I love you Liam. I'm so glad we found each other."

"Me too." He pulled Jili close and he rested his forehead on hers .

Outside the restaurant

“Oh come on!  You’re really mad at me?  You’re mad at me?” Bebe's voice dripped in sarcasm and surprise.

“I asked you if you would forgive me and you said yes. I thought it was over and done with.”

“Um you can forgive someone and still be mad.”  Bebe raised her voice.

“NO YOU CAN’T!! That means you don’t forgive them Bebe if you’re still mad!”  His voice raised as loud as hers.  

Leo took a deep breath, calming himself and trying to lower his voice.  "We could always talk about anything under the sun.  Being together shouldn’t change that.  Bee.. talk to me.”

“You forgot me Leo…..You forgot me...”

He had never heard her voice sound so small and vulnerable with him. He realized this was not about him and her, but something so much bigger. He rushed to her.

“Bee, I’m so sorry. I promise you it wasn't on purpose. I care about you.”

“I didn’t have the best family growing up.  I feel like I’ve spent my whole life waiting for things…. People…. And everybody always let me down.”  

He listened to Bebe talk for a few minutes about her past.  When she finally was silent again, Leo was shocked.  

“I’m so sorry I  brought up these past feelings you were trying so hard to forget. You can still be mad at me if you want.  I can take it.  If you need to take your frustrations out on me behind closed doors in the bedroom tonight, I volunteer as tribute.”

She playfully hit him, and a little smile quirked on her lips.

“There’s that smile I love.  I'm sorry."

"It's okay."

He stared at her hesitantly.

"I mean it.”  

She puckered her lips.  

“Let’s kiss and make up.”  

She pulled Leo close and planted a kiss on his lips.  

Can we go eat food now?”  

“Yes, let’s go eat food now.”  

They joined Liam and Jili back in the restaurant Leo and Bebe shared the news of their budding relationship to ears that already knew they were a thing.  It was their first time double dating as two couples, and after the tough part of the evening, there was nothing but clear sailing.  It looked like all involved truly cared about their partners.

The Next Morning

Leo took Bebe to work as planned, and showed back up around lunchtime with her vehicle and flowers

and lunch from their favorite Chinese food spot.

Bebe smiled as she put the vase of flowers on her desk at work. She was the envy  of all her coworkers.  One of the things she had waited for, seeing her coworkers get flowers from their significant others, when she never got any.  Finally, it was Bebe's turn.

Riley and Jason -- that next afternoon

“Riley I wish you would think this through a little more.  Donovan shouldn’t be expecting you to do this for him.”  

“Dad I’ve had plenty of time to think about it.  I love Von and I want to be there for him.”

“Jelly, you shouldn’t have to sacrifice yourself for who you want to become for someone.  Your mother and I didn’t.  That’s what you’re doing Baby Girl. You deserve so much more than this for yourself.”

“Please don’t do this our last few minutes together, Dad.”

“I just don’t want you to make a mistake you will regret. You don’t have to get on that plane.”

“But that’s part of life Dad. Life isn’t perfect, if this is a mistake, it’s my choice to make, and I’ll learn from it.  That’s what you taught us to do Daddy.”  

“I just want to protect you Jelly Bean from all the hurt and all the pain in the world.  I would die before I let something happen to you.”  

“Dad….”  Tears filled her eyes because she believed her father.  He had always tried to keep them safe from day one.

Riley hugged her father burying her face in his shirt.  

“It’s true.  You, your sister and your brother, are my whole world. We were lucky to have Jaiden, and we were even blessed when we got the call about two little identical twin baby girls that needed a home. It was the best decision me and your Momma ever made.  Even though I don’t approve of what you’re doing right now, if you need us, call us.”  

“I will Daddy, I promise.”  

Her father pulled her into one last  tight embrace.  

They both looked up when they heard  the boarding call for the first leg of her flight that would land her in Denver, CO for a 2 hour layover with her final destination being LAX.  

“I gotta go.”  He released Riley from their embrace, and tears filled his eyes as he watched her walk away from him. But before she was out of sight she stopped and turned and gave him a little wave.

Jason smiled and waved back to Riley.  After a few moments she turned and walked out of sight.

Riley Brooks had locked in her destiny.  She was headed to California, and in several years time, after experiencing some trials, tribulations, and significant heartbreak, she would finally meet the true love of her life, her soulmate, Liam Rys.  

THIS WAS NOT A MISTAKE.

EEEEEEEEEEPPPPP!!!!  I couldn’t wait any longer!!!!!!!!!

It’s been another revolution around the sun since we were last here on this day and a lot has changed for your life since your last birthday.  Good changes, and different changes have now brought you closer to my area.  NGL I’m glad you are here.  Being able to spend time with you face to face was awesome. Well now if we meet up again (mask to mask) .  I felt like we’ve been friends forever. 

I hope that you have a wonderful birthday, and I hope that you enjoy what I’ve done here with this fic, using interpretations of characters you use SGL and Riley B and I hope you enjoy this.  

You inspire me to step out of my comfort zone, and to be a better writer.  Last year when I wrote your birthday fic, I was too nervous to use your characters, thus I gifted you my own in a story, now you encouraged me to step outside of this comfort zone, and try something different.  

And I find it hilarious in some of the questions I asked you about SGL and Riley B, I was actually dead on with the idea.  

Liam and Riley are PB characters, however they have my interpretation of  @dcbbw​ original spin on them, Jili belongs to @queenjilian​ , Mia is a PB character with my expanded idea of TRR MC, and all others are my own original characters to help us tell this story.

So here we go!   Because this is probably my favorite ever birthday Meme you’ll always see this one.

Riley opened the letter knowing completely what it was. A loud groan escaped Riley's lips and she  flopped down on her couch to think, still holding the letter in her hand.

Every three years her family got together in the JoCo, the cut of North Carolina and had a weekend of family togetherness….a family reunion…. that usually resulted in someone getting arrested, getting in a drunken fight, the law being called, or a combination of all three.  But that’s what the JoCo was.  It’s the country, and it’s out in the cut, and it’s a state of mind.  People take their drinks out on the porch and drink it on those summer evenings with their friends. A place where having a bonfire has nothing to do with the temperature but more to do with what your uncle’s cousin’s sister’s husband's ex wife’s baby daddy had to burn.  

Music could be heard from the lawns of the people, not utilizing the cooler temperatures in the evening to be on their riding lawn mowers cutting grass to avoid the heat of the day, and not to mention the smell of cut grass, the long fields of corn and cotton, and tractors and farm hands everywhere.  

Riley B remembered those summers well with her cousins Mia and Jilian on the back porch being told by her Grand Mommie Ethel to ‘go outside and play.’  They instead got on their bikes and rode down to the creek bridge 

to play and swim in the water playing spin the bottle and truth or dare with the neighborhood boys Nico and Jaiden.  Grand Mommie Ethel was turning 98 this year, and was still in fairly good health and was the matriarch of the Brooks family.  Don’t misunderstand what is happening here.  Riley loved her family, but it was just easier to love them from a distance.   That’s just how they got along best.

“What’s wrong?”  Liam asked as he came out of the kitchen, heading towards the couch.  “I know that particularly loud Drake-ish brooding sigh.”  

“It’s that time again!”  

“What time is that?”  Liam’s dark obsidian colored eyes held no recollection of what Riley B was referring to.  

She sat up abruptly.  “Oh that’s right.  We’ve only known each other for two years.  Every three years my family has a family reunion… in North Carolina. It’s that time again.”  

“So are you going Riley B, and why do I feel like there’s more to this?”

“Because it’s me.  Every time I go home it’s like a different place, a different time.  You know the last time I was there, I got stuck behind a tractor for five miles.  FIVE MILES!!!!  It was too big to pass on the two lane road, so what did I do?  Drive eight miles an hour for five miles.”

“Your eye is twitching.”  

He lifted Riley B’s feet to slip under them and sat at the end of the couch gently rubbing her feet.   He glanced at her socks, she was wearing the reading rainbow socks he had gotten for her, when he found out how much she used to love the same childhood show he did.  She would not be getting kicked out of bed later.

“Even my voice changes around my family with their thick accents.  The accent that is dramatically softer now, changes once I set foot in the JoCo.  You can take the girl out of the country, but you can’t take the country out of the girl. Yes of course, I’m gonna go.”  

“How are you going to get there?”  

“I’m not flying, that's for sure.”  

“So I’m taking you then?  We both know you’re not driving.”

"Yeah that would be good."

She handed him the letter. Liam skimmed over it.

"And we get tee shirts too, with our names on them! Sweet!!!!"

"That's the Jones and Brooks family reunion."

"I need to plan this out. Give me a few minutes."

Ten minutes later, Liam was still on his surface tab.

“What are you doing?”

“I have created the perfect to-do list to prepare for our trip.”

Riley was nosy and decided to peep over his shoulder.

“Why are new socks number one on the list?”  

“Would you let me take care of this my own way, Woman?!? I got this! Don’t question the genius!”  

She knew she was in good hands, so she would let Liam handle it.  The other bullet points were pertinent except 'important phone call.' It appeared he had everything under control.  She sent in the money for their shirts and portion of the catered meal, and let Liam do his thing.  She would just pack her bag and show up.  

And show up Liam did that morning they planned to leave; he had rented a White ford explorer for the drive down to North Carolina.

That morning she also caught the first glimpse of Liam’s number one on the list.

“You’re wearing North Carolina flag  themed socks?”  

“I’ve never been to North Carolina before, and I want to make a good impression.”  

“Um, where I am from, making a good impression  means you decide whether you bleed Duke Blue or Carolina Blue.  And depending on the crowd you are with, that will make you or break you.”

“What color do you bleed Riley B?”  

“For my family, Carolina Blue.”    

“I’m actually digging Maxwell’s ultimate road trip playlist.”  

“Me too.”  

Both sang life is a highway  at the top of their lungs as they drove down I-95 south.  

Before long,  Riley B started seeing some of the landmarks meaning she was getting close to her childhood home.

“This is Five County Stadium, we grew up knowing it  as the Mudcats Stadium.  Our claim to fame here is when Michael Jordan was playing baseball he came here once.  And of course he went to UNC.” 

“I didn’t know you knew about baseball Riley B.”

“Trust me, that’s all I know.  I was a bat girl for a summer with my cousin Jili to make a little extra money.” 

“That’s interesting. I’m starving. What's a good place to eat around here?”

“Take a left at the next light I’ll tell you the way.”  

“Okay Riley B.”  

In a few minutes they arrived at a little Carolina Blue Diner.  

“Pop’s Place?”

“Best place for good cheap food and get your belly and your soul full, as Pops would say.”  

They walked into the crowded restaurant.  

“Riley!!!! OH MY GOD!!!!!!”  

“Mia!!!!!!!!!!”  

The girl pushed Liam out the way to grab Riley B and hug her.

“I was hoping to see you before the reunion!!!!”

She glanced back at Liam.  “I’m so sorry, I didn’t mean to push you, but I was just so damn excited.”    

“It’s alright.”  

“Are you going to introduce me?” Mia looked over Liam, giving Riley a slight nod in approval.

“Oh!  Liam, this is Mia, my cousin.  Mia, this is Liam my…… My Liam.”  

Mia raised a knowing eyebrow  at Riley.  

“Nice to meet you Liam.  You know, you’re the first guy she’s brought home to meet the family. She must like you.”  

“MIA!!!!”  

“I’m just saying….  I had someone, I used to have a hard time describing who he was when people asked about him.”

Liam was eating this up. He was definitely going to bite since Mia was baiting the hook for him.  

“And what happened in your situation Mia?”

Mia held out her hand showing her wedding band.

“I married him.  Y'all have to come sit with us.”  

“Say whaaat now?”

“I married Jaiden.  We thought why not be with the one you love?  Life is too short, and Grand Mommie Ethel  would have chopped my head off, us having the baby and not being married. So we had a shotgun wedding last week.”

“You’re just full of surprises Mia damn.”  

She walked them over to the table, where Jaiden was sitting and he jumped up to hug Riley.

“It’s good to see you back!”  

He  shook hands with Liam. 

“Jai, meet Riley’s Jaiden, AKA Liam.”  

Jaiden smiled.  “These Brooks and Jones women, you have to chase them a bit.”  

Liam glanced at Riley  as she sat in the booth next to him.  

“I know.  Riley B is worth it.”

Riley turned to look at him as he smiled at her for a moment.  

“Oh my gawd!!!!! That’s so cute he calls you Riley B.  I love it!”  

Liam watched Mia talk and giggle, she said anything and everything that was on her mind.  Riley B fed on her intensity  and both before long were talking and laughing loudly.  Jaiden joined in as well, as they talked about times when they were young, and he felt like he was learning about a different side of his Riley B.  Growing up she was this rambunctious, carefree country girl that was a fierce protector of her family and friends. 

He noticed as she talked with them the slightest hint of her southern drawl was coming back, which made her even more endearing to him.

After they ate, they said their goodbyes to Mia and Jaiden. Liam had booked them a room at the Umstead.  

“You know I’ve never stayed here?”  

“Seemed like a nice place, and they have some amazing spa packages.  That’s why we’re staying a few extra days, so you can have some downtime after the family  reunion. I can tell you love your family Riley B, but I can also tell they stress you out.”  

“I can’t stay a few extra days, my job is expecting me back on Monday.”  

“Are they though? I don’t think they are after I talked to your boss.”  

“Was that the ‘important phone call’ on your to-do list?”  

Liam nodded.

“Told you I could take care of you, if you let me.”  

She walked up to him silently and gave him a hug.  

Liam closed his eyes, that feeling in his heart was growing stronger for her.  Riley B didn’t have to say anything at all.  He felt exactly what was on her mind. That night when he fell asleep, he felt a little closer to her.

Family Reunion Time

“You alright Riley B?”

He could almost feel the spike in her stress level.   

As soon as they started making their rounds he immediately figured out why.

Riley B was the oldest of her cousins, and the last one not officially in a relationship, married, or had children.  

Liam was on display as well as he had shown up with her.  

“Hi Grand Mommie Ethel.”  

“Look at you, and who is this you brought with you?  Come here, let me get a look at you.”  

Liam strolled up to Grand Mommie Ethel, and did a slow turn.

Grand Mommie Ethel laughed.  “Look at this one peacockin’.   

You have just the personality for our Riley.”  

“I’m Liam, ma’am.  Nice to meet you.”  

“Nice to meet you too Liam.  Tell me Liam, are you finally going to be the one to take our Riley off the market?”  

“That’s up to her.”  

He winked at them both.

 “Boy, you better get away from me with that wink!!!!  You like older women Liam?”

Liam laughed out loud.

“Well as they say, women like fine wine get better with age.”  

Riley’s grandmother laughed. 

“And those socks, you’re training him right Riley.  We bleed Carolina Blue in these parts!”  

He knew spending those extra few minutes picking out his socks for the family reunion would be important.  He had decided on wearing the Carolina blue and white socks he had purchased with Rameses the ram the mascot of UNC Chapel Hill.  But more importantly, he had lightened the moment for Riley as he could tell that she was starting to get stressed.

After the family prayer, Liam glanced around at all the food.  There was so much of it, he didn’t know where to begin.  They had a pig pickin’  and a low country  seafood boil  with shrimp, sausage and corn.

“Put some chitterlings on my plate honey.”  The woman in front of him said.

Liam whispered to Riley.

“What are chitterlings?”  

“Can’t you smell them?  Clearly something you don’t want!!!! And something I definitely don’t eat!!!!

Liam skipped that dish, whatever it was.  He might have to google it later.  After filling his plate of food a second time,  Liam sat back in his seat completely content. 

“And we still have dessert to Go Liam.  Don’t worry, it’s game time, this is like our intermission between dinner and dessert.”

“What kinds of games do you all play?”

“Some of my family will play spades which i’m about to do. Cuz i’mma about to win back my $40 from the last family reunion.  I see you Jili!”  

Riley screamed  across the  lawn,  rubbing her fingers together at her cousin signifying she was about to get that money.

“Bring it!”  Jili screamed back.

“We also got Dominos, and Prison Rules Uno.”  

Liam laughed.  “What’s Prison Rules Uno?”  

Jaiden happened to be walking by stopping dead in his tracks shaking his head.

“Man…. it’s Uno like you played when you were a kid, but so not!!!!”

He watched Riley B playing spades for a bit, but he couldn’t really get into it, so he decided to come over to the Prison Rules Uno table.

“We’re about to start another game you want in?”  Jaiden asked.

“Sure, I'll play.”  Liam sat next to Jaiden.  

As Liam glanced at the deck of uno cards, he had never seen a deck so large before, and he quickly understood what the Prison Rules part of this uno game meant.  That mammoth deck of cards was full of Draw 4, Draw 2, Skips and Reverses and the Brooks and Jones family knew just how to use it to inflict pain on unsuspecting players.  

“I still don’t understand how i’m drawing 24 right now.”  Liam said as he continued pulling cards from the deck.  

“Because Nico skipped those two, reversed it, then reversed it again, then wild draw four on yellow and skipped and skipped those two  and reversed it then back again, and went wild draw 4  plus his pairs  and now it’s your turn again Liam. Riley told you it was Prison Rules Uno.  This is not a game.” 

Liam still had half the deck when the game ended.  

“I’m gonna get y’all next time.”  Liam confirmed.  

Everyone laughed.  

He got some apple cobbler  and some chocolate cake for dessert.  

Jaiden sat down with him.

Riley B screamed from the spades table.  “What den what!!!  Itch betta have my money!!!”

The table roared in laughter.

Liam smiled at her.  

“So you and Riley?”  Jaiden asked.

“I mean……”

“I get it.  I had to play the long game with Mia.  I fell in love with Mia, when we were five on the first day of school.”

“How long did it take you to win her heart?”  

“Senior prom. So many times I wanted to give up, when I saw her with other guys, when I knew, I was THE guy. It hurts.  But I can tell, Riley cares about you too.  These Jones and Brooks women like to feel safe and secure before they fall.”

“Can I have your attention please?”  

“Case in point, watch what is about to happen, you met Nico playing Prison Rules Uno, he’s Jili’s boyfriend.”  

“For all y’all that don’t know me, and everyone knows me, I’m Nico.  When I moved here, I didn’t have a family.  And this ragtag bunch of neighborhood girls, and Jaiden asked me to play with them one day.

You all gave me a home.  Sunday dinners with Grand Mommie Ethel, made me feel like I belong.”

“Because you do baby!”  Grand Mommie Ethel said loudly.  “Jili, go stand by your man.”

Jili walked up to Nico, taking his hand.  

“You are everything to me Jilian.  I thought I had a rough hand in life, living in a group home.  No family, until I met you.  Then you showered my life with love, and I felt like a person again.  A person who deserved love.  And I thank you for that.”

Jili’s eyes filled with tears.  “What are you doing?”  

“Grand Mommie Ethel said I’m family, but I want to make it official.”  

Nico knelt to one knee.

“Jilian Na’Shell Winchester, will you marry me?”

“Yes!”

“Hallelujah!” Grand Mommie Ethel screamed as the pair kissed, and  Nico slipped a modestly sized diamond ring on Jili’s finger.

“Now this isn’t a shotgun wedding is it?”  

“Maybe after a few more drinks and some baby making music, it could be.”  Nico kissed Jili’s neck.

“Let’s get this party started!”  

The beginning to The Wobble started playing over the speakers.

“Hey y’all ain't gonna play us no Luther?  We just got engaged!!!!!!!  OH COME ON!!!!! Not even skinny Luther?”

“It looks like we’re gonna wobble. Congrats Jili.”  

“Thanks Riley.”  

Riley glanced to her right and Liam was by her side.  She smiled at him, Liam had moves and he was most definitely holding his own with his artistic flourishes on the Wobble.  

No one knew they were being scored on their wobble until it was over when Riley’s other cousin Taylor for New York won.  

“But I have to give this honorable mention to our newcomer Liam.  You got some moves Liam.  And can I say your sock game is on point!!!!  We look to see you at our next family reunion.”  

“I’ll be here.”  Liam’s eyes locked with Riley’s.  

“Anything for Riley B.”  Liam whispered.

After two more days spent in the Umstead getting pampered, the pair finally headed for home.  

“I almost don’t want to leave, I had such a good time.”  

"We'll be back though."

"You're right, we will."

Coupling

The Pairings: Liam x Jilian (Liam x F!OC) / Leo x Bebe? (Leo x F!OC)

Summary:  Leo and Bebe continue birthday celebrations. 

Nico and Bebe are my own characters,  Jiilian is @queenjilian character borrowed for the duration of this series,  all others belong to pixelberry.

A/N:  Thank you @queenjilian​ I know this series is near and dear to your heart as Greek Meat started out as your birthday fic, so thank you for the hilarious idea of what happens to Bebe, the first time she asks Leo to do something important for her.  

They weren’t ‘just friends.’

Bebe was still sound asleep next to him when his watch vibrated.  Leo quickly shut it off, glancing at her.  Even with the supersonic bat hearing she proclaimed to have, and she truly did,  she stirred for a few moments from the sound.  

Leo continued lying still a few minutes longer for good measure, as her body slowly relaxed and she started falling back to sleep.  When he was sure Bebe was completely out like a light again,  he quietly hopped out of bed, slipped on his robe, and gently pulled her bedroom door closed behind him, heading to the kitchen.  

Liam always made breakfast for them when Bebe stayed over, and  Bebe always cooked for him when he was there. Leo wanted to surprise her, since her birthday was just yesterday; in his mind, they were still celebrating.  He opened her fridge, taking stock of  what she had so that he could cook.

He grabbed the sausage links, eggs, butter, milk, and bread, and fresh potatoes. He also grabbed the cinnamon from her spice rack.

He had never done something like this for a woman before, but Bebe was different for him.  She was unlike any woman he had spent time with before. She was funny and sarcastic, and a little bit mean. To be honest, there were times she got on his nerves,

 but he loved every second of it.

Leo busied himself in her kitchen, first chopping the potatoes and onion to make hash browns. Everything else came together quickly.  When breakfast was almost ready and Leo was setting the table, Bebe walked out of the bedroom.

"Go back to bed for a bit Bee, breakfast isn't quite ready yet."

"You're cooking for me?"

Leo started to blush. "It's just breakfast, and besides we're still celebrating your birthday. I'm not done yet, so let me finish okay?"

Bebe's lips flit into a small smile.

"Alright."

"Was it the scent of coffee brewing that woke you up?"

She smiled and nodded.

"Back to bed you caffeine addict."

Bebe laid back down, but she couldn't fall back asleep.

When her door opened again, she quickly shut her eyes; Leo smiled as he walked in. He knew she wasn't asleep. He knew every inch of her body and  how Bebe looked when she slept. She was faking sleep, but he would let her have this one.

"Bee… wake up." He whispered as he softly stroked her cheek.

Her eyes fluttered open, meeting his.

Damn she's good, he thought...And the Oscar goes to…. 

Focus Leo!!!!

"Breakfast is ready."

They walked into the kitchen in their matching robes.  Bebe was surprised by the table; there were even flowers as a little centerpiece.

"Leo… this is so much…"

"Why do you act like you're not worth it? Because you are."

There was a goofy little smile on Bebe’s face, when her eyes met his.  He liked seeing her a little awkward the way she was in that moment together, not knowing what to say.  Bebe, though strong-willed, let him take the lead.  

“Let’s eat breakfast.”  He took Bebe’s hand pulling her over to the table.

He made her coffee  how she liked it, with a splash of coffee and a bunch of cream and sugar.  

“I really don’t think it’s the caffeine helping you at this point.  I think it’s the diabetic sugar rush.”  

“It might be.”  She smiled while sipping her coffee as he set the plate of food in front of her.  

“Not half bad for the brother who isn’t a chef right?”  

“Not bad at all.”

“What time do you have to be at work?”  

“I’m not today, I’m totally calling out with a 24 hour case of death or something.”  

“So I get to hang out the day with you then?”  

“If you’d like?”

“As long as after this breakfast we wind back up in bed for a bit.”

“Um you have to wait at least 30 minutes before you go back to bed after eating.”  

“Says who? I’m pretty sure you’re confusing food and swimming.”

“Maybe you’re right.”  

After breakfast they were laying in bed together  when Bebe got a text.

“We’re laying next to each other Leo, and you’re texting me?”  

“Read it.”  

Bebe glanced down at her phone.  It was just one sentence.

‘Will you be my girlfriend?’

She turned over to face him.  

“Are you serious?”

“I like what we have together, Bee.  I think it’s special.  I know that I don’t want you to be with anyone else, because I want you to be with me.  And I think you feel the same way too. So what do you think?”

“Yes, I’ll be your girlfriend.”  

Leo smiled at her.  “ I told you, I get what I want Bee. Remember what you said when we first met? Let me refresh your memory.   “This is never going to happen, Leo Rys.”  

“I’m sorry, I thought you wanted a girlfriend?  Maybe I was mistaken.  Cuz, this isn’t how you keep one.”

Leo laughed.  

He grabbed Bebe in bed, tickling her.  Bebe screeched, trying to push him away. 

“You said yes, you can’t change your mind now!!  You said yes dammit.”  

"Okay already I said yes!"

Their rest of their first day as a couple was a blur, a happy blur.

Friday

"Thank you Leo."  

"Bee, you don't have to thank me for this. That's what a boyfriend does."

He opened the door to his SUV letting her in.  He had said the ‘b’ word. Leo had asked her on the weekend of her birthday to be her boyfriend, and she had accepted.  He was doing a helpful task for her.  Bebe had to drop her car off at the mechanic, and Leo was taking her to work, and would pick her up later to get her vehicle.

“So what are you going to do for lunch?”

“We’re having a santyl inservice, a working lunch.  The one good thing about santyl drug reps is, they always bring us Alpaca.  

So I’ll eat well while I look at horrible wounds on a slide show.”

“And that doesn’t bother you?”  

“Nope, as a pharmacist there have been times I have been lucky to even get lunch. You think a wound needing debriding is going to keep me from getting my eat on?”

“No?”  

“You damn right it’s a no.”

Leo changed the subject, and his fingertips softly grazed her leg; her hand quickly found his squeezing it tight.

“So we’re going to tell Liam and Jili about us tonight at dinner?”  

“Yes.  I think they will be happy.”  

“I think so too.”  

He leaned in to kiss her, and they kissed passionately for a few moments.  When Bebe pulled away, she noticed several of her coworkers were walking by.  

“You know this makes me gossip today at work.”

“Don’t make me give them something to really talk about; the fantasies I have had with you, just in that little white coat. Girl....”

“I get off at 5 today okay?”  

“Yep, I know.”

As soon as Bebe had gotten inside the pharmacy to her desk, armed with her first cup of ‘work coffee’  one of her coworkers who had seen her outside with Leo trickled over to her desk.    

“I didn’t know you were seeing anyone Bebe.”  

“I try to keep my work and private life separate.”  

“Good for you.”  

Bebe popped in her ear buds, meaning the conversation was over,  and logged into the computer system and plugged away on her day.

Lunch time meant the inservice and a few texts from Leo. She sent a few selfies of herself at the in service with her plate of food and a picture of the screen she was watching.  

Leo gagged. Debriding a wound looked horrible, no wonder Bebe didn’t mind gore in movies.  

Finally it was time for Bebe to leave.  She went out to the parking lot to find Leo not there.  She glanced at the time.  It was only 5:02, he was probably stuck at the stupid light.  It got her all the time, and especially in rush hour.  

She sat on the bench outside her job and there they were again, her coworkers that saw her come in,  were leaving too.  

“It’s everything alright?”

“Yeah everything’s fine,  just waiting for my boyfriend to pick me up.”  

“Probably stuck at the light.”

"Exactly."

At 5:15pm, Bebe decided to call Leo.  His phone went to voicemail.   She texted him.

‘Is everything okay Leo?  You’re supposed to be here right now to pick me up.’

She got no response.  Leo usually texted back immediately when she sent him a message, which started to worry her.

Meanwhile…..

Leo was completely engrossed in the documentary he was watching on television.  Leo was not 420 friendly but had friends who were, and was watching “The History of Weed.”  

Liam and Jili came in saying hello, and he could vaguely hear them talking in the background.  Their conversation didn't pique his interest until he heard Bebe’s name mentioned by Jili.

“I really thought Bebe would be off work by now. I thought she was on the early shift this week.”  

Leo glanced at his watch.  It was 5:58PM.

“SHIT!!!! He screamed.  “BEBE!!!!”  

Leo jumped off the couch quickly putting his shoes on.

“What’s wrong?”  Jili asked.

“I was supposed to pick her up at 5!”  

Leo ran out the door, driving like a complete maniac.   And of all the times to get pulled over……

“License and registration?”

Leo quickly pulled out his credentials.

“Leonardo, Is there a reason for you to be driving so aggressively in rush hour traffic?”  

“My girlfriend, I was supposed to pick her up at five. I forgot and she’s going to murder me when she sees me.  So you might get a call in a few more minutes from down the street when I finally get to her job.”  

The young officer who had a stern face, of all things smiled.  

“You’re in hot water then?”  

 “Up to my nose.”  

“I’m going to give you a break today.  Slow down.”  

“Thank you Officer Kar…..”

“Karahalios.  Officer KH.”  

“I owe you one. Thanks Officer KH.”  

Officer KH handed him back his credentials.  “You’re welcome.”

Leo drove the speed limit the rest of the way to Bebe’s job. Pulling into the parking lot, she was sitting on the bench out front.   She had what looked like a pamphlet in her hand fanning herself, beads of perspiration running down her face.  

“Bee, I’m so sorry.”

“Where were you?”

“At home. I lost track of time.”  

“I was worried. You always respond immediately when I text or call.”    

He noticed not all the wetness on her face was from perspiration, some was from tears.    

He hugged her.  “I’m so sorry Bee.”

“I thought something bad had happened to you.”  

It’s definitely…...interesting having someone care about him this way.  

Leo felt horrible.  He was a bad boyfriend right out the gate.  The first time Bebe needed something from him, he failed.  The look on her face screamed disappointment when she realized he had forgotten her.

He turned the air on high to cool her off.

“Why didn’t you go back inside and wait, so you could stay cool?”

“My job is like the vortex, if you walk back in, you get sucked back in.”  

Leo fished napkins out of his console to give to Bebe, which she took, dabbing her face, sighing softly.  

“Let’s get your car.”

“Mechanic had to close early. I have to be at work too early tomorrow before they open, to pick it up.”

“I’ll take you to work tomorrow, and I’ll pick your car up for you, and bring it to you Bebe.”  

“But you’ll have to pay for the repairs?”  

“I don’t care Bee. I’ll never let you down again. Am I still your boyfriend?”

She nodded.

Leo was determined  from that moment on, to be the perfect boyfriend for her.

Jilian and Bebe watched their friend Robin get married. Robin was the one that said she would never get married because she liked her independence, and claimed every man she knew drove her so crazy she would take a straight razor to them.  

"She looks so happy, Jili."

"Yeah, Rashad is the first man Robin hasn't wanted to take a straight razor to, ironically."

“I want to feel like that about someone."

"You WANT to take a straight razor to someone?"

"You know what I meant Jili!!!"

Jili chuckled and wrapped an arm around her friend. "We will one day. I'm sure we will."

Jili watched them dancing in silence. And then there were two she thought.

"Glad my plus one likes to drink, buy you a drink?"

"Hooker, it's an open bar!"

Jili and Bebe kicked off their shoes, grabbed drinks and ran out to the dance floor.

As Jili and Bebe danced, Jili kept seeing Bebe’s eyes drifting over to one of the groomsmen at the bar.  

“You know Beebs just because it’s a wedding doesn’t make us cliches. Being bridesmaids doesn’t mean we HAVE to hook up with the groomsmen.”  

“But that makes this train wreck of love and happiness that much more tolerable having hot sex with some cute guy that looks good as hell in a tux, because let’s face it he does.”

“Bebe, I just can't with you.”

“And he’s smiling back, looks like I’m going to make a mistake tonight, a sexy mistake I'd love to make all night long.”

Bebe downed her drink in one swallow.

"I'm going in! Wish me luck!"

Jili shook her head laughing, as her friend  adjusted her breasts in the matching bridesmaids dresses they were wearing and walked over to the bar.

When she had ordered another drink, she glanced at the cute guy nonchalantly. 

He was watching her too.  

There was a faint buzz.  

“Dr. Lahela here….”  

She tried not to listen as he rattled off medical terms and medications.  

“I was about to say hello when my phone rang.  Sorry about that.”

“So you’re a doctor?”

“I’m a surgeon.  These babies are magical.”  He held out his hands, wiggling his fingers.

Bebe chuckled at his dramatic display.

“Mmmhum.  Magical hands?  That remains to be seen.”

The handsome stranger stood, holding his hand out for her.

“Follow me.”  

She raised her eyebrow to him.

“Um… stranger danger. I don’t know you.”

“I’m Bryce and you’re Bebe, and you’re also not five, I'm not going to kidnap you.”

He winked at Bebe.  “You can trust me.”  

“So where are you taking me?”  

“Over to the piano.”  

Bryce cracked his knuckles shaking out his hands in a dramatic fashion before he placed them on the keys and started to play…. Heart and Soul.

Bebe laughed.  “I can help you out there with your magical fingers.”  

Bebe started to play along.  

“I did not know you were also a piano playing virtuoso.”

“Oh is that what playing piano on a second grade level is called now, Dr. Magical Hands? So tell me is there a picture of your face on your ID badge, or one of your hands or better yet both hands?”

Bryce laughed out loud looking at her, his eyes catching hers.

“I’m only here for the weekend.”  

“Then let’s make it a great weekend then. No regrets right?”  

“No regrets Bebe.”  

There were definitely no regrets  in the pool house at Prestonwoods, and there definitely were no regrets twice that night at the Umstead, and once early Sunday morning .  

When Bebe woke, he was almost completely dressed.

"Good morning," Bryce smiled at her.

"Hey."

"I tried not to wake you."

"Oh." Bebe commented leaving her face as emotionless as possible.

"No, not like that, I wasn't planning on sneaking out on you."

There was a knock to the door.

"I thought we would have breakfast before I have to leave."

Bebe didn't mean to smile. Bryce noticed.

"Not the player you portray yourself to be… I know me either."  She saw his cheeks redden a bit.

Bryce was really sweet. They talked and ate breakfast together.

After breakfast Bryce continued to pack. Bebe took it as her cue to prepare for her walk of shame in her bridesmaid dress.  Where the hell was her dress?

"Do you have somewhere to be?"

"No?"

"Checkout isn't until 11, so enjoy this place, at least someone should get my money's worth, and one of us should get to sleep in a bit after we kept each other up all night.”

Bebe curled back up in bed, but kept talking to Bryce as he continued to get ready.  When she heard the zip of his bag, she sat up.  He walked over to her sitting on the bed.

“I thought you would find this funny.”  

He held out his Edenbrook ID badge.

“Well I’ll be damned!  It actually IS your face on your ID badge and not your hands.”  

Bryce laughed loudly, for a few moments, then his face turned serious while he looked at her.

“Bebe…..”

“Don’t ruin it by getting all sappy and sentimental. You know we’re both playas.  Don’t hate the playa, hate the game Dawg.”  

His smile returned.

He kissed her cheek.

“You really are something else. Take care Bebe.”

“You too, Bryce.”  

Jili didn't see Bebe until Thursday of the following week. She noticed her friend seemed a little more quiet than normal. She knew deep down her friend was looking for forever, but kept settling for tonight, to not be alone. Bebe wasn't afraid to kiss the frogs, hoping to find her prince. Bebe hadn't given up on love, even though she thought it had given up on her.

“Bryce seemed nice Bebe.”  

“Yeah he was.”    She remembered him softly kissing her cheek before he left.

“Maybe if he lived here, things could have been different.”

“Yeah, maybe.”  

She glanced down at her phone, seeing a few texts from Bryce, he had said something very similar.

*^*^*^*^*^*^*^* two weeks later *^*^*^*^*^*^*

“So is it just us again tonight?”  

“Yeah Robin is busy. We can’t expect her to just ditch her husband to have dinner and drinks with the girls.”  

“Um yes we can,  sistas before mistas, and we were Robin’s sistas first, and he knew before he married her we were a package deal, and this is how we roll.”  

“Bee, you know things change when you get married, it happened with everyone else.”  

“Wouldn’t know, we’ve both officially avoided our first marriages and divorces because of our age.”  

“So then our second, first marriages will be the ones that last.”  

Jili linked her arm with Bebe.  

“I promise single or not, married or not, I’ll always make time for you.”  

“I promise to do the same Jili.”  

“So starting next week let’s start a new tradition Bebe.   I know that the Ruby has been our spot forever, but let’s become foodies and just pick random spots and holes in the wall to have our girl’s night out, and really explore our area.  Let’s step out of our comfort zones and try some different things.”

“I’m in.”      

So each week, Jili and Bebe decided on a new place to try in the area.  Week Three brought them to a new place that had just opened up two weeks ago called Kulture Shox’d.  

“Clothing that will show up glowing under black light is  strongly encouraged?  This is probably the most ‘interesting’ place we’ve picked.”

“And there is a prize weekly.  The couple or table with the most standout outfits on theme get a special dinner made for them in the private dining room made by the personal head chef himself.”  

“Seems kind of gimmicky, don’t you think?” Jili wasn’t sold on the idea.

"And?"

"I'll have nothing to do with that please." "Too late, I signed you up."

Bebe was already talking to her phone.

"You did?!?!"

"Metaphorically speaking yes! We said we were gonna get out of our comfort zones, Jili. Let's try something different and get the full experience of the night there. Never know what could happen."

Jilian still looked weary.

Bebe took Jili's silence as a green light.

"Show me some black light outfits.”  Bebe was already figuring out what she….. correction… they were going to be wearing to dinner.  

"Hey! I didn't say I would…"

“You have to let me do this.  Let me dress us, so we can win. Please Jili, extreme makeovers are where I shine.”  

"Okay, let's do it."

Bebe squealed in delight.  She dressed the two for the night.

Jili laughed.  “Um 1987 called us and they want their bangles and hair clips back.”  

“We’re gonna look crazy awesome in the black lights. Jili I’m actually really excited about this.”

They took a rideshare over to the restaurant downtown.

They walked into the restaurant.  

“Good evening ladies. Looks like you are participating in our contest.”  

“Hell yes we are, and we’re going to win it.”

“I hear ya!  It will be a few minutes before your table is ready.”  

The restaurant was really quirky and eclectic.  The music playing and a very urban and uptempo beat.

“I really like the vibe here.”  Jili commented.

A waitress walked by carrying a pink smoking drink.  

“I want one of those.”  

They were finally to their table and were able to order drinks.

“I want one of those pink smoky drinks.”

“Each drink in our smoke line has a different flavor profile, which one would you like?”

“Pink alcohol?”

The waitress explained each flavor profile of the smoke cocktails line then looked at Bebe expectantly.

“Yeah….I still want Pink.”

“And I want Orange.”  

The restaurant was packed. The waitress came back with their drinks rather quickly pouring the last element into their drinks causing them to smoke.  

Bebe and Jili clinked glasses and took a sip of their cocktails.

Both nodded at each other and the waitress. 

“Glad you like them!  I’ll be back in a few we have our nightly announcement to make.”  

“Thank you for all the participants in our weekly “You lite the night and get Kulture Shox’d Challenge.  Our winners of this week’s costume contest are Jili and Bebe! Come up and take a bow ladies!”

“Told you we’d win Jili!”  Bebe ran up to the front followed by Jili, the cheers and applause rang through the restaurant.

“Grab your drinks, we’re taking you into our private dining area”.  

The private dining area was just as interesting as the rest of the building. It had a bubbling colored fountain in the center.   The music wasn’t as hype as the main dining hall, it had a very seductive vibe.

“Wait right here, the main chef will be coming in a few to take your picture and talk about the special menu for tonight.”  

The cook switched his uniform to his black light appropriate uniform that  he would take pictures with tonight’s winners in.  

He walked in seeing them for the first time.  

“We’ll take our black light pictures first.”  He stood between the two women and put his arms around both women, just barely touching him, out of respect.

The lights in the dining room came up to normal lighting.  Finally they could see their chef in real lighting, and he was cute.  

“Good evening ladies.  I’m your chef for the evening, Liam Rys.”

"I'm Jilian, and this is my best friend Bebe."

Bebe noticed right away the way Jili stared at Liam, but Liam was giving off sparks as well.

When the pictures were done, Bebe went back to the table leaving Jili with Liam.

"So the whole Black Light thing is an interesting concept.  I mean even your uniform seems rather…"

"Like a gimmick right?"

"Exactly!"

He looked over Jilian.

"If this seems so gimmicky to you…then… it was your friend that helped pick your outfit."

They both glanced across the room  Bebe was polishing off her first pink smoke drink.

"Yes. You're exactly right Liam. This place was her idea."

Liam showed her his true thoughts on the subject.

He was not a fan of this clearly.

"I have to change into this uniform just to meet the winners to take pictures."

"To be sure you do not cook in black light do you?"

Liam laughed. "Of course not. I mean it's a complete and total gimmick to get people in the door. I think it takes away from the food which I think is pretty great, not only because I am one of the lead cooks."

"Garcon! Might you be able to procure my friend and myself two more flaming fire drinks?"

Liam laughed. "And your friend thinks I'm the waiter."

"Bebe exaggerates a lot when she's a little lit. It's part of her charm."

"I'm curious to know what's part of your charm, Jilian?"

She glanced at the handsome chef. Was he flirting with her?

"But only for you would I go back to my bartender days and get you two beautiful ladies more drinks."

He winked at Jilian.

"I'll be right back."

In a few minutes Liam came back, with two new drinks for them.

"Jilian you look woman of exquisite taste.  I am going to make you a dish with you in mind."

"Is this dish free?" Bebe inquired, raising her eyebrow.

"Actually it is. It is not even on the menu here. It's inspired by your beautiful friend Jilian. Let me get to it. I'll be back shortly ladies."

As soon as Liam left the room Bebe smiled.

"Girl!!! Our waiter is hitting on you! He could serve me a meal anytime!"

"Bebe he's not a waiter, he's a chef."

"Poe-tae-to , Poe-taa-toe. We'll see who brings us our meals."

Liam brought out  the appetizers first.

Bebe gave Jili a look.  

After they were done with the amazing appetizers, Liam brought out an amazing meal.

He watched the ladies take their first bites of the specially prepared meal for them.

People happy and content with what he prepared was always a look Liam truly enjoyed seeing on people’s faces.

Bebe watched her friend closely every time Liam came back into the room, the way they looked at each other.  Neither had made a move yet, and time was running out.

When it was time to go, neither had done anything, and Bebe decided to take matters into her own hands.

"I left you a tip under my plate Liam."

"That really wasn't necessary Bebe."

"No really you'll want this."

"Well thank you. Have a good night ladies."

When Liam lifted Bebe's plate, he smiled.

Jili and Bebe got in their ride share.

"I can't believe you left him a tip Bebe. He's a chef not a waiter."

"Oh I didn't leave him a tip."

"But you said…"

"I left my phone number."

"Oh! I didn't know you were even interested in him."

Liam read the note and smiled.

'I see you staring at her Liam.  And because I'm the best wing woman in the world, and neither of you made a move, I'm making one for the two of you. Girl code says I can't give my bestie’s number out. So if you're interested in her, text me.

Bebe's phone buzzed.

She glanced down at her phone and smiled.

"He didn't waste any time."

"He's already texting you?"

Wow.. Jilian was surprised; she had read that one completely wrong. Liam and Bebe didn't seem to have any chemistry at all from what she could tell.

Bebe held out her phone so Jili could see her message.

"Thank you Bebe. This is Liam. Yes, I am very interested in Jilian."

"Oh come on! Did you really think one drink would get me lit?!?  And calling him a waiter all night was just fun. I was calling him a waiter, because I was WAITING for his ass all night to make a move on you."

The Double Date Mistake?

The Book:  TRR

The Pairing:  Liam x F!OC (Liam x Jilian) 

Word Count: 1948

Summary: Jilian goes on a double date with Bebe and meets Leo for the very first time.  Jilian and Bebe share how they first met each other to the guys.  

Warnings: Sexual innuendos.  Profanity.  

Leo and Liam belong to pixelberry, Jilian belongs to @queenjilian borrowed for the duration of this series. All others are my own to help us tell the story.  

“And done. He has your number now Jili. Now fly my little birdies fly.”  

She thought he would text right away but he didn’t.  The whole way to Bebe’s apartment the twenty minute drive Jili’s phone was silent.

Bebe looked at Jili as she glanced at her phone.  What the actual hell?

She texted Jilian.

“Bebe why the hell are you texting me? I’m sitting right next to you?”

“I was just making sure your phone was on.”  

“I mean he’s still working Bebe.  He can’t just drop everything and just start texting away.”

“The hell he can’t. What in the actual fuck is wrong with you bruh?” Bebe grumbled as she angrily typed on her phone.

“Wing Woman are you trying to crash this plane?”

“The mother  hasn’t even taken off yet with you two trying to pilot it. I’m gonna need you to get your life together Jili.”  

The driver pulled to a stop. “Damn I really wanted to see how this turned out.”

Bebe got out of the car in a huff.

“I’ll let you know.”   Jili called out the window to her.

Jilian wasn’t going to let it stress her out.  He was still at work. She knew her job got busy at times, and she couldn’t just sit on her phone and do nothing.  As she was walking up the stairs to scan her door key fob, the phone rang.

It was a local number she didn’t recognize.

“Hello?”

“Jilian. It’s Liam.”

“Hi Liam.”

“I apologize for not texting or calling sooner.  Things got busy at work.”

“Oh I figured that was what happened.”  

"Bebe is something else. I feel a little attacked. I can tell it's from a place of love though."

"She's my best friend Liam. My true sister from another mister."

"So it's safe to assume you are single?" Liam inquired.

"I am, and for you the same?"

"Yes Jilian I am. Is it forward of me to say maybe we can change that for each other. I would really like to see you again. I'm off next Friday would you be free then?"

Jilian sighed.

"Friday is my date night."

"Oh. I just assumed you being single you weren’t seeing anybody even casually."

"With Bebe. We restaurant hop. We're self proclaimed foodies. 

Do you have any friends maybe we could double?”

“My brother, both him and Bebe have big personalities, I think they’d really get along.  Think she would be okay with that?”

“Yeah I think I could convince her.”  

They continued to talk, and about everything under the sun.  Liam was funny and witty and kept her attention.

She began to realize how much she had in common with the charming Liam Rys.  

She had cuddled into her bed under her covers laughing and chatting with him.  She finally rolled over realizing it was almost dawn.

“Oh my God! Is that the sun?!?!?!” she shrieked, surprised into the phone.

“I’m so sorry Jilian I completely lost track of time.”

“I have to go, I have to be at work in forty five minutes!!!”

Jilian said her goodbyes to Liam and hurried to work.  

Right when Jilian was sitting in her office reading over her chart  for her first patient’s checkup, there was a delivery.  

A large coffee drink had been delivered to her with a sweet gooey cinnamon bun.

“Gift for you Jilian Winchester.”  

Liam was really sweet.

She texted him thank you.

He had let her know he had an extra espresso shot added to her coffee.

Liam was a lifesaver.  

*^*^*^*^* The Double Date *^**^*^*^*

When Jili and Bebe got to the restaurant  Liam and Leo were already seated at the table both stood to greet them.  

Liam softly kissed  Jili’s cheek.  

Bebe glanced at Leo.  He was cute, but he was probably about five inches shorter than Bebe, not to mention Bebe was wearing heels making her tower over Leo.

Liam changed the subject breaking the ice between everyone, and the conversation between the couples started flowing.  

Jilian slipped in the subject of Liam and Leo honestly not looking much like each other.  

“We’re half brothers, we have different mothers. But don’t get it twisted Bebe.  I can scale you like Mount Everest. Taller women don’t intimidate me one bit.”

“Um….thank you for that blatant honesty…. Jili will you accompany me to the restroom please?”  

“Excuse us for a moment.”  Jili smiled politely.  

“Absolutely not Jili!!!!!”  Bebe was adamant when the door to the bathroom closed.  

“Bebe I didn’t know!  I swear when he said older brother, I was thinking he looked like him.  You would think older brothers are taller, bigger, and wiser. He is funny though.  You two do have similar personalities. Maybe try to focus on that Bee.  Let’s just try to have a fun time.  You don’t have to see Leo again.  But I know I want to see Liam again. I like him.”  

“You owe me big for this!!!”

Both women come back to the table.  Their drink orders had arrived.  Bebe takes a long sip on her drink.  

“That’s what I’m talking about!”  Leo smiled.  “A girl after my own heart.”  

“How did you and Bebe meet Jilian?”  

“We actually met in NOLA. We were both presenting at a medical conference.  Bebe for the Pharma side, because she’s a pharmacist,  and me for medical for being a nurse practitioner focused in the at risk population.”

Leo eyes flit to Bebe.

“So you’re a drug dealer?”  

Bebe smiled.  “ Legal Drug Dealer. Yep, that’s what I call myself. I’m slinging pills to pay the bills.”  

“I can dig it.”  

“We met the night before our conference began, in a bar.”  

When Jilian walked into the bar she noticed her right away.  There was a woman at the bar,  drinking her drink telling what appeared to be a funny story that had multiple people’s attention.  All were laughing with her.   She had to be a local. Jili thought.  

She had strings of beads around her neck.  

“What can I get ya?”  the bartender asked.  

She looked at Bebe.  “I want whatever she’s having.”  Bebe was the life of the party.  

“Well I did a little pre-gaming at the drive through daiquiri shop though. 

But mostly Hurricanes.  Get her a Hurricane Sal.”  

The bartender winked at Bebe.  

“Don’t skimp on the good stuff either!”  She yelled out.

Jilian’s eyes widened when the bartender  brought her the drink.

Bebe held up her glass to clink with Jilian’s glass.

“Laissez le bon temps rouler!!!!!”   The crowd screamed in agreement at Bebe’s declaration.

“What?”  

“LET THE GOOD TIMES ROLL!!!!!”  

Jilian took a long drink of the cocktail.  No wonder.  

“Yep! You like it.  I’m Bebe, what’s your name?”

“Jilian.”  

“I’m gonna call you Jili.  What brings you to NOLA?”  

“Work, a conference.”  

“Bleh you said the “W.” word.  That’s not existing in my life right now.  We’re here, we’re alive, no regrets Jili.  Let your hair down and enjoy yourself.  I mean literally.  That bun is a buzz kill.”  

Jili pulled the pins out of her hair shaking out her locks.  

“So much better!!!! You’re a babe!!!  See they’re already looking at you differently.  We’re not interested though.  Unless they’re buying more drinks.”  

Jili glanced at the guys that were now looking in her direction.  

“You’ve got a lot of bead necklaces going on.”   Jili commented.  

“There are two ways to get beads in NOLA.  Buy them or earn them.”

Jili looked at Bebe and raised her eyebrow with a smile.

“Let me guess, your ass hasn’t spent a dime tonight.”  

Bebe took a long sip of her hurricane.  

“Nope.  Not a single dime.  Including alcohol.  I'll tell you what Jili.  Life’s too short.  I’m not going to regret any of my choices.  I spent a year in Costa Rica, living my life Pura Vida.”

“Pure Life.”  Jilian smiled.  Bebe was a carefree spirit, and people gravitated to her.

“We’re only here for a blink Jili.  How do you want your story to be told?”

She decided to throw caution to the wind and party the night away with Bebe.

Jilian’s alarm went off the next morning.  She was incredibly hung over as she tried to pull herself together.  

She had a random memory of her and Bebe walking down  Bourbon Street singing “Lean on Me”  while they were linked arm and arm.  The drunk leading the more drunk back to the hotel.

She smiled, straightening her black business suit.  She was about to pull her hair up into her signature bun but decided to let her tresses fall free instead.  

As she was getting checked into the convention she slipped her ID badge and program of speakers, herself among the list.  

She heard her laugh.  Jili whipped her head around and saw Bebe at the back of the line with two others.  Bebe was wearing a bright pink business suit, and her shoes and clutch had the print of medications on it.  

“The legal drug dealers have arrived!!!! Big Pharma in da house!!!!!!”  

Jili laughed, shaking her head.  

“That’s how we met Liam.”  

“We found out later we lived near each other, and made plans to meet up.  Been friends ever since.  That was like six years ago.”

“I’m surprised you didn’t ask us how we met.”  Leo asked.

“I assume you are brothers…. You met… at birth?”

Bebe shook her head at Leo.

Everyone was calm after not to mention the alcohol free flowing.  They headed to  a lounge after dinner, called Blue Notes.  The music there was full of soul and blues.  

The drinks continued. The music there stirred the soul.  

“May I have this dance?”  Jili nodded, taking Liam’s hand.   He held her close.  

Leo eyed Bebe.   “You know, I have always been one to have a huge case of FOMO.  So you and me let’s hit the dance floor too.”  

Bebe downed her drink in one swallow.  “Why the hell not.”  

They walked out to the dance floor.  With Bebe’s high heels Leo was chest level to her.  He pulled her close resting his head on her bosom.

“Um….so we’re doing this… okay…”  Bebe looked surprised but she was smiling.

Liam laughed softly when he glanced in their direction.

“I don’t think that was meant to go there.”  

“The height difference honestly never crossed my mind Jilian.  Things seemed really awkward for them for a bit, for more so Bebe.  Not so awkward now.”  

Bebe and Leo were looking at each other laughing.

“You know this is never going to happen Leo Rys.”  

“A man can dream.  Well….It could happen for the night.  I can tell you’re curious. Let me tickle your fancy tonight.”

Bebe laughed harder at him.  “You don’t give up do you Leo?”

“Nope because I get what I want.”    

“If nothing else Jilian, I think they will at least be friends from this, if nothing romantic happens.”

The next morning Liam was cooking  breakfast when Bebe walked out of Leo’s room. Leo’s sweatpants looked like capris on Bebe.  

“Good Morning Bebe. Would you like some breakfast?”  

“Sure.”

Leo walked out of the room a few minutes later.  

Liam smiled looking at the two of them.  

“Breakfast Leo?”  

“I already ate.”  Leo winked at Bebe.

Bebe choked on her orange juice.  

“Oh you were talking about bacon and eggs, sure.”  

Nope not at all awkward at all.  Liam thought as he fixed plates for himself Leo and Bebe.

Bebe was climbing in her ride share when her phone rang.

“Bebe… Liam just told me you had breakfast with him and Leo… at his apartment.  You spent the night with Leo?”  

“Leo was right, Jili.  Not all of him is fun sized.”

Falling For You

Summary:  Jilian and Liam celebrate their six month anniversary.  Leo shows up to Bebe’s apartment unannounced.

This keeps taking a turn on me guys.  I’m sorry I don’t outline.  But I guess that is part of the magic here too.

He couldn't help but stare.  She was so beautiful, even while she was sleeping.  

"Liam, don't be creepy."

Jilian opened her eyes looking at him.

Liam’s mannerisms turned incredibly bashful.

"I can't help it.  You're a vision.  I am completely enamored by you, Jilian Winchester. Happy six month anniversary.   I have something for you.”

Jili gasped. Her work schedule the past few weeks had been so hectic she had totally forgotten the date. That night was the first time in several weeks they had actually been able to see each other.

Jili was panicked.  

“What’s wrong?”

“I didn’t realize the date.. Work has been so crazy. I know that’s not an excuse.”

He held out his gift for her.  She felt guilty.

“I don’t have anything for you Liam. I’m sorry.”

“That’s not the reason you give a gift to someone Jili."

He pulled the small perfectly wrapped jewelry sized box out of the dresser.

Jili sat up in bed, the covers drifting a bit revealing bare skin, to which Liam's eyes quickly fell upon.

"Jili, your body is present enough for me.  You are absolute perfection."

She opened the box.  Inside was an adorable charm bracelet.  

The charms on the bracelet were all medical inspired.  There was a medical bag, a stethoscope, a little ambulance, and she took particular time with the caduceus.  

“This is a beautiful gift.”  

“I see you’re staring at the Caduceus. Did you know….”

“It’s Greek.  The symbol goes back to Greco-Egyptian mythology.”

Liam’s eyes flashed in interest.

“Greece has always been on my bucket list, Liam.  I’m going to make it to Santorini someday. What I’ve seen of it in movies and in books,  I have to see that in real life.”

“And you will.  Maybe I’ll make it there with you.”  

“Maybe. Thank you for the beautiful gift.”  

“Anytime love.”

His lips met hers again in a sultry kiss.  Jili melted in his arms, falling back into the pillows. 

 She could be late for work once.  

Liam at dinner that night couldn’t be more sweet and romantic.  The flowers, the music and the dancing.  He just made her feel like she was the only woman in the world when he looked at her the way he was at that moment.      

“How do you do it Liam?”

“Do what?”  He questioned her.

“Make me feel like the most beautiful girl in the world?”

“That’s easy Jili.  You are.”

Liam paid for the check and Jili booked the rideshare back to her place.   While Liam was in the restroom she got a text from the driver saying they had arrived.

“Shit!”  Jili ran out of the restaurant, texting Liam “Silver Honda accord “

She jumped into the honda.

“I’m sorry!  My boyfriend will be out in a second.”

“Jaiden Brooks?”  

“No.”

Jili glanced at her phone.

“I was sure it said silver honda accord.”  

“It is.. But there’s also one behind us.”

“And you’re not Chloe.”  

The man chuckled.  “I’ve been called a lot of names in my life,  Chloe is not one of them.”  

Jili jumped out of the vehicle barreling head first into a guy.

“Whoa, moonlighting as an offensive lineman?”  

“It’s how I went pro.”  Jili flexed her muscles.

He laughed, his soft brown eyes twinkled.  

“You take it easy now.”

“Likewise.”  

She smiled as she walked to the second Silver Honda Accord.  

Still in earshot she heard a woman come up next to him.  

“Are you serious Jai?”

“What?”  He seemed genuinely confused.

“You’re flirting and looking at some random chick right in front of me?”

Jaiden looked exasperated.  “Carmen, I wasn’t looking at her!!!!!  She ran into me, I was polite to her, that’s all.”

“You would say that now that you’ve been caught.”  

She pointed her manicured finger at him.

“I’m giving you one last chance.”  

“I WASN’T LOOKING AT HER!!!!  Carmen, you're my girlfriend!!!!”  

They climbed into the car, and Jili was sure their argument was far from over.

Liam joined her a few moments later, pulling her into his arms.  

“I’m glad we have such a healthy relationship.”

“What brought this on?”

“I just saw this couple.  I ran into the guy by accident.  The girl immediately accused him of cheating.”  

“Well…. Maybe he gave her a reason to, in their past.”  

“He really didn’t seem like the type.  He cracked a corny joke.  Seemed really kind.”

“We’ll never know Jili.”  

Author’s note:  Ohhhh But we will.  We’ll know all about Jaiden Brooks at a later date…

Bebe was out in the bar with Leo.  Something they did from time to time.  They have been a wing man/woman for each other  several times now.  That night  she had been a wing woman for him. He was chatting up a cute blonde.  Things looked to be going well for him.  He gave Bebe a wink.

She gave him a thumbs up, studying the two continuing to flirt.   The girl was cute and petite, and appeared to be hanging on Leo’s every word. He seemed interested, and they looked cute together.  

Her stomach grumbled.  Was it the foreshadowing of her monthly monster coming to wreak havoc on her life for the better part of the week rearing its ugly head early?

Bebe winced at the pair.  Tears filled her eyes.

What was that feeling?  She didn’t like it.  Had to be the cramps. She shrugged it off.

Her work was done for the night.  Leo had settled her tab, and would be leaving shortly with Ms. Blondie.  

Bebe headed for home herself, the weird feeling still tugging at her heart, her stomach still feeling a mess.

She didn’t hear from Leo for a few days.  

Until he texted her late that afternoon.

‘Sup Girl?’

‘Nothin’ much.’

‘Can I come over?’

‘Not in the mood.’

‘I didn’t ask for that. You know we have emojis for that.’

She laughed.

‘Not tonight Leo.’

Thirty minutes later there was a knock on her door.  Bebe dragged herself off the couch.

Leo had two bags of goodies.

“I got you your favorite.  Mint chocolate chip, some chocolate syrup, and your white chocolate kit kats you love, and there’s a meat lovers pizza on the way, and I got root beer and Funjuns.”  

“Leo?”  

“How did I know?  As much as I’m around, I kind of know when you go M.I.A, and why. So can I come in?”  

Bebe glanced down at herself.   She was in a pair of dark gray sweatpants and a Hartfeld Heels tee shirt.  

“You look fine, now let me in! This ice cream is going to melt.”

It was the first time Leo had been over to her place, not for sex.  

“So what are we watching?”

“The Time Traveler’s Wife.”  

“Ahhh chick flicks. Bring it on.  I’m going to put this in the freezer unless you want it now?”

Bebe took the mint chocolate chip ice cream, and syrup away from him.  

“We’re doing dessert first, I can dig it. So am I.”  

Leo liked butter pecan and had brought himself a carton as well.  He put the rest of the items on the table until the pizza arrived.

“I’m getting comfortable then alright?”

“That’s fine.”  Bebe shouted when he walked into her bedroom.  

Leo came back after a minute in her pink leopard print robe.  

She shook her head at Leo.

“What?!?!?!  I see why you bought it.  I like the way it feels on my skin.”

Leo was truly something else.

“That’s probably the pizza.”  He went to the door in the robe zero fucks given. Bebe roared in laughter.  Leo just didn’t give a damn about anything.  

Bebe found herself fishing for details.  “So I thought you’d be hanging out with Miss blondie.”

“Meh. Maddy was alright.  But she really didn’t have much of a personality.  I won’t be seeing her again. Why were you jealous?”

Bebe shrugged it off in a nonchalant way.  “No. Not at all.”  

“Trying to keep Mr. not all of him is fun sized for your own personal enjoyment?”

She hit him laughing.   She nudged his shoulder.  

“Thanks for coming over and hanging out with me.”  

He nudged her back.  “Anytime.”  

He put his arm around Bebe and both focused on the movie.  Later she relaxed to resting her head in his lap.  He softly played in her hair.  

She heard Leo sniffling towards the end of the movie. 

She glanced up at him.

“Leo, are you crying?”

“No.”  He quickly wiped his eyes.  

"The tin man really does have a heart."

"It's a sad story okay. Why couldn't they just live happily ever after?"

"That's not the way life is."

"It should be. You should be able to be with the one you want.  That wants you."

She sat up looking at Leo.

Bebe giggled. "When did you become such a hopeless romantic?"

Leo softly stroked her cheek.   

Bebe stopped giggling abruptly as she gazed into his eyes.  

There was so much fire and passion in Leo’s eyes, that Bebe gasped.

Leo’s signature smirk crossed his face, as he leaned in and claimed Bebe’s lips that were in a seductive pucker for his own.

Six Sentence Sunday 05.02.21

This past week has been a long one for me.   I’m still in the running for the new job which I am really happy about, and quickly approaching my vacation time I put in.  I secretly have a feeling , that I’m going to find out about my status for the job that I got it on on my vacation.  So I can put my notice in my first day back.  I have done the best I can for that place.  It’s time for me to see what else is out there.   I’ve given it more than enough time and to improve and worked as hard as possible.

The Meet: Chapter 3

Pairing:  Liam x Jilian  (Liam x F!OC)  Leo x Bebe? (Leo x F!OC) 

Status:  Still in the Writing Process

Bebe had found really cheap VIP tickets to Goodnights  Comedy Club, for a weekend activity for her and Jili. There was just one caveat.  They just couldn't be used  for a high profile act.

"Maxwell Beaumont? We've never even heard of him. He doesn't even sound like he would be funny."

"Worse comes to worse Jili we get a meal and some drinks, and I'll heckle the guy. We got $100 tickets for $25 each."

“When you say it like that… really not bad.”  

When they announced him, Maxwell ran out on stage. Right off the bat, one could tell Maxwell had incredibly high energy.

He smiled at the audience.

"I know this club is jam packed for the discounted tickets, and not because of my name. So if you don't think I'm funny, remember this: Your cheap ass got what you paid for. You have only yourself to blame."

There was a soft smattering of laughter throughout the venue.  

“He’s right.”  Bebe chuckled.  

By the end of Maxwell's set the whole audience was cackling and laughing at his side splitting  jokes.

"I'm so glad we decided to go to this comedy show.  This  was hilarious! This guy is going places."

"Your show was hilarious Maxwell." both said to him as they posed for a picture.

"Please call me Max. Thank you so much ladies. I am so glad you took a chance and came out tonight."

He was definitely going to be famous someday.

"We got to book a rideshare so we can get home."

"No we don't. I have us a ride already."

A black SUV pulled up to the curb, and Leo jumped out.

"Good evening ladies.”

Leo opened the passenger side door and back door for the ladies to get in the car.

Bebe let Jili get in the back first.

Leo saw her smile.

"C'mon chivalry ain't dead. Who have you been hanging with Bebe that made you think it was?"

"So what are you doing here?" Jili inquired.

Before Leo could speak, Bebe answered for him.

"Leo was in the neighborhood. He was generous enough to offer us rides home."

“Okay.  She raised her eyebrow at the two of them.  Something was up between them.  Jili knew it.

"I'd better be getting a ride tonight too." He mumbled under his breath.  His attention turning to Bebe as his fingertips ghosted her bare leg.

Her eyes met his. She winked and gave a subtle nod in affirmation.

Leo's smile widened.

Riley thumbed through the racks.

"If I may?  I did notice his eyes fall on this dress here.  It looks to be your size, and that color would look like heaven on you."

"Pink is my favorite color."

"Then you should try it on."

 Deena, had made the palace boutique an oasis for Riley.

Riley tried on the dress staring at herself in the mirror.

"His face is going to be just as pink as that dress when he sees you. That dress was made for you. And since you're going to the derby try this as well."

She gave Riley a white hat.

The hat didn't quite stay on.

Riley laughed. "Big hair goals and hats don't generally mix."

Deena laughed.  "This is true. I think Dolly Parton said it best, if someone tells you your hair is too big. Get rid of them, you don't need that kind of negativity in your life!"

"That's a plan!"

Riley decided though to be the "Derby Girl" for the day she would straighten her hair.

“I know I shouldn’t feel a little upset about this, but I kind of am Emily.  How do I tell him that?”  

“He’s really close to his family Mia.  Some people only wish they had that kind of relationship with their parents.  My Grandmother raised me and losing her was really hard.  I wish I had a positive relationship with my parents like he does, and like you do, but I don’t.  And besides, he asked you to be a part of the tradition he does with his family.  That says a lot Mia. I think you should focus more on that part. You should let this one go and let him have this, and just do this for him.”

“I know.  That’s a big deal, I get it.  He wants me to be a part of something he’s only done with his family.”  

“And he wants to do Karaoke this weekend?”  

Mia laughed.  “Yes, that's how he wants us to celebrate his birthday.  I already have a song picked out for him.”  

“It’s something adorably sweet isn’t it?”

Mia smiled.  

“It is.  And you’re singing backup for me.”

“You two.  I swear you are so disgustingly cute sometimes.”        

“Oh you’re the one to talk.  You and Chris wore matching tee shirts when we all went to six flags.”

“So we wouldn’t lose each other.”  

“There’s two of you, how the hell can you lose each other?!?!?!?!”  

“Well…..it made sense when he bought the shirts and told me that.”

Six Sentence Sunday 05.16.21

My first week of vacation has been interesting with the gas shortages here in North Carolina and waiting in line for gas, for significant periods of time.  I actually took a picture and posted it on social media, which one of the news affiliates in my area contacted me and asked me could they use the picture in the evening news, I said yes.  

I had to use the app GasBuddy in order to find gas because every place I went by didn’t have gas, and when friends posted online saying somewhere had gas, it didn’t by the time I got there, or they only had Diesel.  Even the first place I used the app for had gas when I left home but by the time I got there only had diesel.  The app updated when I got there. So I’ve been parked the past few days.  Today (Sunday) is the first time I’m heading out into the world in the past two days.  Did I also mention my new car almost got hit twice when I was out driving around these gas stations,  people trying to get into the gas lines cutting people off?

Sadly I found out I didn’t get the new job.  I was disappointed, but I do want to say thank you to friends for keeping an encouraging word in my ear, and a virtual hug through this time while I continue to job search for a better quality of life.  Thanks for being there for me.  I know something better is out there for me.

I had to stop writing for a little bit as my writing got incredibly angsty.  You’ll see in my WIP one in particular.

Mia was talking with some of her gym friends and Nico when Jaiden walked into the gym.  Nico was shirtless.  

Jaiden rolled his eyes. Of course he was sitting right next to Mia, looking like that's where he belonged.

“Are you ready Mia?”  

“Yeah, everyone, do you remember Jaiden, my boyfriend?  Jaiden this is everyone!”  

Jaiden smiled politely, but his eyes rested on Nico.  

“I could have brought her back to campus, I'm headed back there now too. Could have saved you the trip.”  

“It’s fine, I was going to look at her car anyway.  Besides, she’s my girl, not yours Nico.”  

An uncomfortable silence fell on the group.

“Okay…. Jai  we’re going.”  

Once they had gotten into Rubi...Mia glared at him.

“What the hell was that Jai?”  

“What did it look like?”

“Jai, you said it wouldn’t be a problem for me to still go to the gym here?”

“Why didn’t you call me Mia?”  

“I was about to, but Nico walked by in the student parking lot.  I figured since we were going to the same place, it wasn’t a big deal.”  

“I would have taken you to the gym no problem Mia. He still has feelings for you. He was staring at you like a sad puppy.”

“Do you trust me?”  

“It’s not about trust.”

“Yes it is Jai.  Don’t you trust me?”

The Wait is Over

“Who’s the cool parent Dipper?”  

Dipper nuzzled against Kai's leg.  

“Told ya.” Kai stuck her tongue out at Hayden to which he laughed.

“You indeed are the junk food, party parent, Kai. Hands down.”  

Hayden’s face softened.  

“You’ll be the cool mom. You’ll be the one who makes the menus when our children have sleepovers with their friends. Because every kid has to have junk food when their friends come over and spend the night.  You’ll be the one that lets them stay up extra late, and sleep in, in the morning.  I’ll make the cookies you ask for, but you’ll be the one to give them extra.”

Kai smiled, her eyes glistening with tears.

“Hayden, you’ll be the one to gently tell them to keep it down.  You’ll be the one they call when they think they have monsters under the bed and in the closet for you to scare them away, and when they want Daddy’s strong arms to protect them.”

“Will we tell them about me? That I’m different?”  He softened the words as he knew how upset it made Kai when he referred to himself as anything computer based.

“When they’re old enough to understand what it means I think. Don’t you agree?”

“Yes, I want them to know, and truly understand what I am, and how wonderful a woman their mother is, that she still loves me in spite of everything.”  

“We’ll be good parents Hayden because we love each other, and we’ll love them.”

The Meet: Chapter 5

The Book:  TRR

Pairings:  Liam x Jillian (Liam x F!OC) / Leo x Bebe (Leo x F!OC)

Status:  Still in the writing process.

Why couldn’t he just say “Her?”  

He didn’t know truly what he wanted from Bebe, what was happening between them either.  But something… was happening.  He’d never felt like this about someone before.  Like he might want to commit to her.  Bebe wanted more, and he wasn’t sure he could give her that.  He didn’t want to hurt her.  Leo wasn’t like Liam.  Liam only dated in monogamous, long term, serious relationships.  Leo had never been in anything like that.  Honestly, the time he had spent on and off with Bebe over the last six months had been his longest “pseudo relationship.”

He also knew she was trying to keep him at a distance too.  He saw the look in her eyes when she was staring at him and Maddy talking and things were going well.  Bebe looked hurt.

That look in her eyes had followed him the rest of the evening. Every time he tried to kiss Maddy, he saw Bebe. He had to leave Maddy’s place because of that look.  

He also saw the look in her eyes change in that moment she pushed her feelings away, if there were feelings, when he couldn’t answer.  She pulled away from him, slipping back on her shirt.

“Did you drink all the root beer?”  She asked.

“I’ll get you another one.”

Bebe had turned on a comedy when he came back in.  

He didn’t even think the movie was that funny, it was Bebe’s reactions to it.  He loved her laugh, even the fact that she had seen the movie so much she was quoting it. Which was something he hated, but it was cute when she did it.  He really didn’t like slapstick comedy like that.  But watching her, it was absolutely hilarious.

Six Sentence Sunday 04.18.21

That time you made it to the second round of interviews for a new job. They contacted me on Friday asking my availability for the following week so that I could do my second interview.  When you think, I can do this.  I got this. I can rock this.  

Work has been crazy this past week.  So I can honestly say I haven’t been able to get much reading or writing done.   There have been more than one icky twelve hour workdays this week.  I will try to work through some of my older tagged stuff today that I haven’t made it around to yet.  Slowly but surely I’ll get to it.

The Meet: Chapter 1  (Greek Meat Prequel)

Status:  Writing for this chapter is complete: 

"Garcon! Might you be able to procure my friend and myself two more flaming fire drinks?"

Liam laughed. "And your friend thinks I'm the waiter."

"Bebe exaggerates a lot when she's a little lit. It's part of her charm."

"I'm curious to know what's part of your charm, Jilian."

She glanced at the handsome chef. Was he flirting with her?

"But only for you would I go back to my bartender days and get you two beautiful ladies more drinks."

He winked at Jilian.

"I'll be right back."

In a few minutes Liam came back, with two new drinks for them.

"Jilian, you look woman of exquisite taste.  I am going to make you a dish with you in mind."

"Is this dish free?" Bebe inquired, raising her eyebrow.

"Actually it is. It is not even on the menu here. It's inspired by your beautiful friend Jilian. Let me get to it. I'll be back shortly ladies."

As soon as Liam left the room Bebe smiled.

"Girl!!! Our waiter is hitting on you! He could serve me a meal anytime!"

"Bebe he's not a waiter, he's the chef."

"Poe-tae-to , Poe-taa-toe. We'll see who brings us our meals."

Liam brought out  the appetizers first.

Bebe gave Jili a look.

Pops was a simple man. But his feelings about that day were anything but simplistic. Pops' soul was a storm of emotions, happy, melancholic, and bittersweet, because not only had he given his daughter away to be married, but he was also gaining a son whom he loved dearly.

His eyes met with Mia's from across the room. She smiled at him, but as he refocused on her, he saw the little girl that loved to play dress up in Mommy's clothes and makeup.

Clearing his throat, Pops began to recite the poem. His confident voice was already shaky as he gazed across the room at his little MJ, his eyes already beginning to tear up.

"Dear World,

I bequeath to you today one little girl… in a crispy dress...with two brown eyes… and a happy  laugh that ripples all day long...and a flash of black hair that bounces in the sun  when she runs. I trust you'll treat her well."

He never knew the person who would completely change his whole entire world, his heart  was a little bouncing baby girl that weighed seven pounds and twelve ounces when she was born.

When he found out Gloria was pregnant Kelvin wanted a boy. That's all he thought about. Someone to play ball with, and fish with. He got the shock of his life when he heard those three words. It's a girl.

Mia was born a week before Christmas.  Gloria went into labor while they were at a Christmas party neither one wanted to attend. Labor was a fitting excuse for the pair to leave early. The one time in Mia’s life she showed up early. 

Gloria’s due date was Christmas Day.

When he first saw Mia's big brown inquisitive eyes, he knew she would be special. And Mia was, and she was the light of his world.

Mia’s first word was Pop.  The reason everyone called Kelvin “Pops”  was because of Mia.  When Mia started talking she said it repeatedly.  

Mia was definitely a Daddy’s girl. Mia took her very first steps following behind Pops.  He wanted his little MJ to stop growing.  

“Prim and proud she’ll wave her young and independent hand this morning and say “Good bye” and walk with little lady steps into the school house.”

It was  Pops that cried the first day of school when he waited with her at the bus stop.  They had always had a very special close relationship.

“Reunited and it feels soooo good!!!!”  Robin held up her glass  clinking it with Bebe and Jili.

“We missed you Robin, it hasn’t been the same.” Jili smiled at Robin.

“But you know we know how to keep the party going.”  Bebe’s voice was nonchalant.  

“Damn, missed you too Bebe. No one does, I don’t care, but I really do care a lot like you Bee.”  

Jili raised her eyebrow.

“Huh.  It’s funny you mentioned that Robin, because Bebe’s currently in this thing….”

Bebe interrupted her.

“Enough about me, let’s hear about you.  How’s married life Robin? Any talks of a little Rashad or little Robin in the future?”  

“We’re honestly playing that by ear.  Not stressing ourselves out about it.  Well it’s not like I expected.  First, I haven’t killed him yet.  It was an adjustment, I won’t lie.  I went from living on my own to living with someone.  Someone who doesn’t exactly put things where I think they logically should go.    Have I wanted to cut him? Yes. Have I gone through with it?  Nope.”  

Bebe and Jili laughed.

“But it’s different you know? He’s my rock and my support system.   I had a really shitty day at work the other day.  He had a glass of wine and an aromatherapy  bubble bath waiting for me.  

Yes grand gestures are fantastic and all, but the devil is in the details.  The little things are most important.  Like, something as simple as making sure I don’t run out of my favorite coffee creamer. For our anniversary he made breakfast in bed.  Our two month anniversary.  I didn’t even know there was such a creature!!!”

As Robin talked both Bebe and Jili listened intently to her.  They were so happy that their friend was so content in her marriage.  Both had liked Rashad from the moment they met him, even though Robin wasn’t sold on the idea of him then.  

“That’s exactly what I want.”  Jilian whispered in awe.

Both of them did.  Jilian was a lot closer to the possibility of having it.

“It’s going to happen.  I know it.  I know it’s cliche and corny and Bebe, I know you’re going to roll your eyes when I say it.  I wasn’t looking for him and he found me.”  

Over the night they spent catching up on life and love with their bestie.

“I’ll make more time. I really missed the two of you.  It’s not the same.  Yes I love Rashad, but I love having my girl time with the two of you.”  

They pulled each other in a hug, and continued laughing and drinking.  

Bebe glanced down at her phone. Her eyes widened at the emojis on the text.  

‘💋 + 🍒 + 😋 +🍆 +😵 × 😚+😋 + 🍩 x 🥨 + 🍆 +🍩= get your ass over here now Bee.’

“I’m sorry guys I have to go.”

Bebe quickly hugged both women and was gone within a minute flat.  

“Geez, what got into her?”  

“More like who.  And his name is Leo Rys.”

“You know,  you thought you were being cute buying me a robe like yours for my place.   This is legit the best gift ever.”

Leo answered the door in her robe.    

“Are you freeballin’ right now Leo?”  

“Hell yes I am, and you have too much clothes on.  Not that i’m arguing about that dress, and those heels. Damn.  Where were you before you came here?”

“A hot date.”

Leo smirked.

“Apparently, not that hot, because he couldn’t close, because you’re here with me. I call you on your bullshit.  Where were you really?”

“Dinner with the girls.”  

He smiled.

“Girl’s night. You look beautiful Bee.”  

"Thanks. Now I’m ready for dessert.”

Bebe followed Leo to his bedroom.  

The next morning Bebe was up early, as usual.

“Hey go back to sleep for a bit.  I got you a few things here for you so you don’t have to get up yet.”  

“What things?”

“Stuff I’ve seen at your place. Shower gel, toothpaste, you know stuff.  So you can shower  here if you want.  Maybe you could leave a few things here.  I mean we see each other a lot.”  

He couldn’t read Bebe’s face to know what she was thinking.

“That’s not weird is it?  I think it makes sense.  You have to be up earlier for work than I usually do.  You should bring a few things over, to keep here.”

“It’s actually nice. A little creepy though that you were snooping around my things but there’s that.”  

“Um, and for the record.  I’ve been all up in your “things,”  and from what I can tell you like it when I’m all up in there.”  

Bebe laughed.  

"I'll wake you up in another hour."

She snuggled back into bed, and Leo woke her as promised.

“I know how you feel about pink.  There’s a pink towel set in there for you too.”  

Bebe walked into the bathroom she had been in many times. In the midst of all Leo's stuff, she saw the little hints of the stuff he had gotten for her.  There were hints a woman was around. Her.

Bebe caught her reflection, a dopey grin was on her face. Were they really a thing? Could she….did she feel that way about Leo? Could they really be more?

Maybe she and Leo should really try to give whatever this was a go.  

It was nice to not be in such a rush after spending the night.  

She rinsed the shampoo out of her hair, contentedly sighing, oblivious to what was about to happen.

Bebe was caught by surprise when Leo jerked back the shower curtain.

Author's Note: Cue the Jaws Theme.

"Jesus Christ Leo!"

He smiled at her.

"Why do you have….."

He smirked.

Leo was pointing a water gun at her, then he shot her with it.

The water was ice cold. Bebe cringed as the cold water hit her body.

"LEO!!!!!"

Bebe was screaming bloody murder trying to grab the shower curtain  to shield her from the spray of ice cold water.

Leo was laughing maniacally as  Bebe slipped, and accidentally ripped down the shower curtain, in an effort to shield herself from the frigid cold water,  falling to the floor pulling him down to the floor with her.

Liam burst into the bathroom.

"WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON IN HERE?!?!?"

It was quite the scene. The bathroom was a mess. Bebe and Leo were on the floor dripping wet. Bebe was wrapped up in the shower curtain. A super soaker water gun was on the floor filled with ice and water.

Jilian peeked her head around Liam to see the bathroom scene.

Jili laughed.

"Leo, you play too much!”

Bebe punched him hard.  

“Whaaat it was funny!!!!”  You should have seen your face.”

“Just so you know, I’m not buying you another shower curtain, this was completely your fault Leo.”

Liam shook his head at them closing the door.  

"Usually there are other sounds I wake up to." Liam pulled Jili back into the bedroom with him.

Breakfast was interesting.  It was the first time, both ‘couples’ were present to have breakfast together, at Liam and Leo's apartment .

“Nothing like getting woken up by what sounds like a murder.”  Liam responded glancing over at Leo and Bebe.  

“I’m sorry your idiot brother likes to play crazy games.”

“You know, I'm sitting right here Bebe.”

“I. DON’T. CARE. You're still an idiot."

He playfully hit Bebe. "It was funny Bee."

She hit him back. "Don't touch me."

Leo leaned into her, his finger barely an inch from her face. She ignored him talking to Jili. Leo persisted on.

Bebe grabbed his finger twisting it.

“OWWWWW!!! THAT HURTS!!!!!”

"GOOD! IT WAS SUPPOSED TO!!!!!  LEO SO HELP ME GOD!!!!!"

"I WASN'T TOUCHING YOU!!!!!!"

"My God! Do I need to separate you two?!?!?!" Liam screamed at them.

"You guys are like two kids on the playground that like each other!" Jilian raised her eyebrow at them.

"After breakfast let's go to yoga and take a walk together."

Jili smiled as Liam kissed her cheek.

"I love that idea." Jilian whispered.

It wasn't Couples' yoga but they both enjoyed being near each other the same.

After yoga, they decided to take a nice leisurely stroll into downtown Raleigh. Liam took his cues from Jili as to what places they window shopped in.

They heard the music from a distance.

"Oh we have to stop and listen a bit!"

They continued walking up to the performers where Jili swayed to the beat of the music.

Liam pulled Jili close to him dancing with her. Their eyes met both smiled at each other.

"A song for the lovers Von!"

Someone screamed from the crowd.

It felt like the world stood still in those moments that Jilian and Liam were dancing.

When the song was over, they clapped for him. Liam did a piercing whistle and dropped money in his case.

"Thanks man!"

"Liam Rys."

"Von Jacobs."

They shook hands as Jili dropped money in his case, and they went on their way exploring downtown together.

*×*×*×*×*×* three months later *×*×*×*×*×*

"Did you read it?"

"Yeah I did. It sounds like it would be an amazing time Jilian. Minus the whole comic con thing."

"Minor snafu. But it's a late present for Bebe's birthday. But she'll get to meet Christopher Pine.  Do you want to go?”

“Yes, I've never been to LA before."

"What's Leo doing with her tonight?"

"I'm not seeing her tonight."

"It's her birthday, Leo."

The color drained from Leo's face.

"What?"

Leo grabbed Liam and pulled him away from her.

Bebe had just finished a nice relaxing bubble bath when she heard a series of knocks on her door.

Leo stood there in a black suit with a single red rose.

"Leo what?!?"

"Why didn't you tell me it was your birthday?"

His voice was sad.

"It's not a big deal."

He slid past her walking into her apartment.

"Yes it is. Every birthday is special, and you should celebrate it. No matter what is going on in my life, Bee, I celebrate my birthday.  You never know when it will be your last. And you will celebrate yours too as long as I am around. Now that I know, I'm not going to forget."

"Leo…"

"Go put on a nice dress, we're going out to dinner."

"Where?" There was excitement in her voice.

"Woman! Go put that sexy self in one of those tight ass dresses I like."

Bebe looked at her dresses with a critical eye. She decided to slip into a royal blue dress that had a hint of bling on it, wearing her Louboutin heels with it.

Leo grabbed his heart as she walked out into the living room.

"Damn Bee."

They drove to the restaurant, Bebe's eyes widened when she saw where they were.

"I've always wanted to come here with someone."

"A little birdie told me."

Leo opened the car door for Bebe to get out as they walked towards the building, Leo slipped his hand in hers.

Bebe paused, and smiled at him; her fingers twinning with his.

Maybe that thing that bothered her, really didn't matter.  

Maybe this could work, and Leo looked proud to have her on his arm.

They were immediately seated by the hostess.

"Your server will be right with you."

"Leo, this is amazing."

Their server approached them.

"Good evening, and welcome to The Angus Barn. My name is Riley, and I'll be your server tonight."

Riley made them laugh.  Riley had mentioned she was in her last year of culinary school, and made excellent recommendations for them from the menu.

That evening when they got back to Bebe's apartment, he had one more gift to set up for her.

"You can come in now."

Leo was spread eagle on her bed naked with a present box covering his manly parts.

"Is your dick really in a box?"

"A big ass box! Come here girl!"

Six Sentence Sunday 09.05.21

What’s up my ppl.  Hitting you live with another six sentence Sunday.  Where you know my rule is there are always more than six sentences to tell you what i’m up to.  Vacation has been nice at least I got a portion of one as opposed to the none I almost got, so I guess in that aspect, I really can’t complain.  I go back to work tomorrow but we have a shortened day because of the holiday so orders cut off at 2pm instead of 5pm as normal.  So i’m going to go in there with a positive can do attitude and do my best to make it a great day. Well I feel good about that life choice... for now.

I had planned to write so much more on vacation, but then I realized, how tired  and rundown I really was, and as much as I love writing and hopefully you all enjoy what I contribute from my little piece of the fandom, mental self care and just doing nothing just felt right.   So here’s what I’ve posted in the last week or so for us all to enjoy.

Greek Meat: A Family Vacation Part 2

Greek Meat: Special Happy Birthday Jennifer

The Book: TRF (AU with no royals)

Pairings:  Multiple:  Liam x Riley  and multiple OC pairings

Status:  Still in the writing process. 

Jili and Liam  both refused to answer to their names for the duration of the competition; they were instead known as being singular parts to comprise the collective known as ‘The Architects’  and they worked together like a well oiled machine.  If team sand castle making was an Olympic sport, these two would be bringing the gold home for ‘Merica.  

“I need more water!”  

“I got you!”

Liam grabbed her bucket running to the ocean bringing Jilian back more water to help her complete her portion of the sand castle mountain they were skillfully creating.  The two were almost anticipating what the other needed bringing more tools to aid and assist each other.  They quickly made a sand structure that rivaled all the other teams that day on the beach.  

Even after all those years Liam and Jilian really did work well as a team.

When they were satisfied with their sand castle mountain, Liam and Jili once again did their secret hand shake 

and ended with them back to back sliding their glasses on at the same time.

“The Architects are Done!”  

“I really wish we would have thought of this Ren,  you really can’t make this up! Team names?”  Jason cajoled, nudging Ren.

“They’re having fun, they just don’t know how crazy they look.”  

Team Rico composed of Riley and Nico had the heart of  champion sand castle builder extraordinaires but unfortunately lacked the skill and precision to properly build a sand castle.

“Come on Riley! Channel your inner kid.  Lilo could have this done in no time. What did we do at the beach every year?”   Jaiden screamed.

“Um body surfed, jumped waves, flirted with the cute locals, none of that is helping right now.”  

Nico laughed, shaking his head at Riley.

“We’ll get something put together, might not win us anything, but we’ll finish this strong…”

Nico commented as the side wall of their castle collapsed.

“Okay let me rephrase that, it will be a strong-ish finish. Meaning not last.”

“I’m okay with not last.”    

“Let’s do this then.  Team Not Last.”

“We can have an obnoxious secret handshake too!”

The Book: TRR x Queen B? 

Pairing:  Drake x Riley / Riley x Liam

Status:  Still in the writing process.  

Author’s note... I really have no idea where i’m going with this one....but it’s a WIP in my google docs just the same. I haven’t actually read Queen B, but I know that one of the competing plot lines is some questionable behavior with an undergrad with her professor... so here you go.

Riley Brooks was the all American girl, a true sweetheart if you will.  Not everyone found their soulmate young, or hell even at all. But Riley did when she was seven years old, when a dark haired boy moved next door to her.  They were friends first and somewhere around the age of 12 they started viewing each other differently.  

Drake Walker, tall and lanky but adorably cute and sweet  in all his prepubescent awkwardness and braces, finally gathered all the courage he could muster, after brooding about it a bit, to ask the sweet girl next door he knew all of his life with glasses to be his girlfriend, and she accepted.

Puberty of the teen years hit, which skyrocketed the two into popular territory with their dramatic physical changes, as the freaks and geeks became popular and chic.  Drake lost the braces and grew what felt like overnight  to over 6 feet tall with strong broad shoulders and added a good twenty pounds of solid muscle to his what used to be thin frame and he became the captain of the wrestling team.  

Riley's body started to mature, as she shed her glasses for contacts, put on some weight, and  grew to an athletic, curvy, 5’10” tall young woman.  She played soccer her freshman year of high school, but being the one gymnastics location in their area closed, she became a cheerleader, a place where she could still use her tumbling skills.  Riley’s body changed from that of the tom boy that climbed trees with Drake and his best friend Rashad, to having the curves of a woman. Which made for one awkward conversation for Riley when her father noticed her coming home from hanging out at the lake with her friends.  

Riley was immediately made to change clothes where her father ushered her to the mall department store young women’s section and with a red face he asked the clerk for "brassieres that would fit his teenage daughter."

But alas, Riley and Drake blossomed into that world together, never forgetting the other. Their relationship strengthened as every milestone first, they shared together.

First person they held hands with, first date, first kiss…. and when they felt ready to take their relationship to the next level after high school graduation, their first time.  They were with each other through it all, they were the quintessential high school sweethearts.  They even went to the same college together.  

They were hot on the track to be college sweethearts and married with 2 kids in their small town, that is until Riley met HIM for the first time. The man that would undo it all, that set her world ablaze simply by the way he called out her name.

Riley headed to the second  floor of the admin building to the Psych hall. She had a meeting with her new advisor.  She gingerly knocked on the door that was partially closed.

The voice that she heard  that said, “Come in.”  already had Riley’s  heart racing. 

She walked in the room, finding herself face to face with Professor Rys.  Professor Liam Rys. Her new advisor, and he made Riley's heart skip a beat.

“Good afternoon Professor Rys.”  Riley stammered, her cheeks flushed a light pink.

“You must be Riley Brooks.”

Riley felt her body tremble when he just said her name.  Professor Rys definitely matched his voice.   He stood to greet her, running his fingers through dirty blonde curls.  He had a tall muscular physique still visible through his cobalt blue dress shirt, navy sweater and khaki pants.  Sparkling blue eyes shined bright behind thin rimmed glasses.  She noticed when he reached out to shake her hand, he was not wearing a wedding band.  Professor Rys was unattached, or at least not married. She didn’t even know why she even noticed that.

“Please have a seat Miss Brooks.”

Riley was so enthralled by him, when she went to sit, not realizing the chair was not behind her, and he grabbed her, pulling her in her arms catching her before she fell.  

Riley's breath hitched as his grip tightened on her, her grabbing his arm feeling his bulging biceps.  

He glanced down at her hand tightly clutching his bicep, and smiled at her.

"Are you alright Miss Brooks?"

Riley nodded because she could barely speak as he helped her to stand up right.

“Let’s try that again shall we,  I’ll be your spotter this time, so chin up, shoulders back, knees out, and squat. There you go, easy does it.”

Just the Way You Are: Chapter 17

Pairings: Liam x Riley  with past pairing with M!OC Nico KH / Kai!F x Hayden!M

Status: Still in the writing process

Riley pulled her hair up into a ponytail and headed downstairs.  She could hear her family laughing and joking, her father’s loud boisterous voice boomed as he chuckled lightheartedly.  

When Riley rounded the corner they stopped abruptly, taking her in.  

“Good morning.”  

“Riley….”  Her mother was the first to approach her, giving her a gentle hug.  

Jaiden and Taylor stared at her from the couches.  

The air  smelled rich and sweet, full of chocolatey goodness.  

“I thought you wouldn’t really make it.”

“It’s what you asked for, we’ll eat better for lunch.”

“But it’s not my birthday.”  

Ren Brooks believed in balanced meals.  The only times they didn’t eat a balanced meal was on their birthdays when they all would enjoy pancake Cake,   or the first day of school, Ren always made cupcakes for breakfast.  She could tell her mother was choosing her words very carefully.

“It’s what you asked for honey.”

“Yeah, don’t question the mini miracle.  I’m totally here for the first ever chocolate cake for breakfast this morning in the Brooks household.”

Jaiden jumped up, taking Riley’s hand gently pulling Riley to the couch with him. “Sit next to me sis.”

Even though Jaiden was her little brother, baby faced freshman in college, he always acted like a bigger brother to Riley.   He always tried to protect her.  

“How’s NYU?”  

“It’s cool.  Living in the dorms is great, and my roommate is alright. Trying my best not to let the freshman fifteen get me, but you know I like to eat like you.”   Jaiden patted his stomach.  “But I gotta keep my boyish figure for the ladies.”  

Riley laughed for the first time since she could remember.

Jaiden was always so good at lightening the mood of a room.

“What would you know about the ladies Jai?”  

“I know a little somethin’ somethin’, he chuckled with a smile.  

“Oh my god… Dad, Jaiden thinks he’s a pimp.”  

“I mean look who he takes after. Pimpin’ aint easy.”  

“Things I never thought I’d hear my dad ever say. Number one.  Pimpin’ aint easy.”  Taylor smiled.

It was such a special moment between them.  Riley’s heart was so filled with happiness.  That was how she should have always felt that day. They helped her clean up a bit, and spend a little time nursing Alex before she started receiving visitors. The first one she asked for was Hana, as she had William with her

“Help him get in the bed with me Hana.”  

Hana picked William up, putting him in the bed with Riley.  

Will stared at the little baby in Riley’s arms.

“This is your Baby brother Alex.”  

William’s little eyes widened looking at the baby.

“Give Alex kisses.”  

William leaned over her shoulder softly kissing Alex on the forehead.  

“Baby.”

“That’s right. Now sit down so you can hold him.”  

“Riley, he's too small to hold him.  We should wait. He could hurt him by accident.”  Nico looked so apprehensive as he almost leaped forward to stop Riley.

“He’ll be just fine, and besides I’m right here, and so is Hana.”  

Riley directed her attention to William sitting next to her.

“Do exactly as Mommy says and does.”  

Riley put a small pillow in William’s lap.

She maneuvered Alex into his arms.

“Gentle touches like Mommy.”  

William gently touched Alex.

“My baby.”  William said proudly.

“That’s right.  Your baby. Give your baby kisses.”  

William peppered Alex’s face with soft kisses.

“So many kisses for the baby.”  

“My baby!!” Will said again, giggling.

She glanced up at Nico.  He had a soft smile on his face as he looked at his two little boys together.

Life was perfect or so Riley thought.

Things started shifting so gradually Riley didn’t even notice.

Six Sentence Sunday 08.29.21

This is very reminiscent of how last week at my work was.  Me looking freakishly calm while my work world burned around me.   I was supposed to be off the 2nd-13th but unfortunately I had to change that vacation due to staffing so all I am getting is  Monday- Friday of next week off.  

And honestly I have that because of my two awesome tech leads that help me supervise my departments, because without them, i’m sure i’d be completely certifiable at times. They were the ones to tell me, take the next week off that they would hold down the fort for me at work. I’d really lose my mind without them.

I have to work Sunday, so that’s part of the reason I’m posting this early.   I honestly haven’t been able to do much writing, or felt like it, but I have put some bits and pieces together for you guys so you have something for six sentence as always.

Jason and Ren Brooks relaxed into the lawn chairs  on the patio enjoying the gentle breeze and soothing sounds of the waves crashing against the rocks.

Both signed contentedly.  It had been over a year since their last vacation, and they had never planned something like what they were about to do; it was a massive undertaking.  

"So we're really doing this? I mean we're really going to do this Ren?"

"We're too old for this shit."

Jason laughed,  "You know I'm supposed to say that."

"But they are our children and our grandchildren. Wait a sec… we're  going to have so many children under the age of 8."

"Too damn many. That's why we came up two days early, and we're staying 2 extra days after they all leave." Jason smiled, pulling the bottle of champagne out of the wine fridge.

"It's five o'clock somewhere. Have a drink with me Ren."

Jason started pouring her a glass.

"With the weekend we're about to have, pass me that bottle!"

"Yes ma'am!" Jason exclaimed, passing her the uncorked bottle to which Ren tossed back a long sip.

"Um, are you sure we're too old for this? You're tossing that bottle back reminiscent of our early 20's with some Boone's Farm."

"When we used to think box wine was fancy?"

She passed the bottle to Jason, his lighthearted chuckle caught the breeze.

"Desperate times call for desperate measures."

Jason and Ren spent the next two days relaxing sitting out on the porch reading and bonding as a couple.

Day 3

Both Jason and Ren woke up early.

They were enjoying a nice quiet breakfast  together on the patio when they started receiving texts. Jaiden and Bebe with Malachi, Desi, and little JJ (Jaiden Jr.)  and Jili and Nico  with Aslan and Christian were caravaning together, so they could stop together as a group for potty breaks for the little humans, big humans, and animals.

"The Jaiden and Nico caravan  are making fairly decent time so far. We'll see if they can keep that up. Jaiden is determined they can make it in three hours, but he's forgetting the one factor."

"The kid factor." They both said in unison.

"What about the others?" Ren inquired.

"Liam texted Riley is feeling jet lag, and Ellery and Elodie are cranky so they're having a lazy morning.   Taylor and Maxwell and the kids are going to drive up with them."

The  Brooks SUV

"We're making great time Bee we just need to keep then entertained.”

"Got it. Reading Rainbow 🌈 is going on now."  

When the credits started rolling Kai covered his eyes.

"What's wrong baby?"

"I don't like butterflies."

"Neither do I, Baby."

"I can't believe I married the one woman in the world that  has the same neurotic fear of butterflies like my sister."

Jaiden laughed.

"It’s not funny Jaiden. They're sketchy with their flapping about. I don't trust any of them. And you'd be scared of them too if you were swarmed by a pack of rogue  butterflies."

Jaiden was laughing so hard he snorted.  

“God Bee, you sound just like Riley.  You two should compare notes.  Maybe it was the same pack of gangster butterflies.  We should get Dad on the case.  Get him to arrange a lineup so these Rogue butterflies can be punished to the full extent of the law for terrorizing people.”

“I hate you.”

Her body started to wake up.  Maybe, just maybe, the past three months had been a dream.  A horrible nightmare, and it would be over as soon as she opened her eyes.  Riley slowly opened her eyes and sat up realizing that she was not in her apartment, but her childhood bedroom.  Her parents had pretty much kept it like she left it.   It was like she was sitting in a time capsule.  She glanced around her room.  Her walls were covered with movie posters that she was able to score when she worked at her job at the local movie theatre, and the movie posters definitely showed her eclectic taste in movies,  Bridesmaids, I Am Number Four, In Time, Columbiana, Beastly, and Breaking Dawn. 

She was team Jacob, her sister Taylor, Team Edward.

Her bookshelf in her room not only housed books, but also her medals from track.  Even though the bulk of her photos were on social media, she had a few in photo frames around the room.

None of it was a dream.  She was at her parent’s house because she was emotionally trapped in a dark place. Even though she was in her childhood home, she felt like a stranger there.  The panic started to build in her again, and she grabbed the only piece of security she had, her mobile phone, and  with shaking hands she unlocked it and pressed play.

Riley closed her eyes when Nico’s voice filled the room.

“Rye, you’re probably not answering because Kai has probably dragged you into the healing spas whirlpool, or you have cucumbers on your eyes or something.  Who are we kidding? You ate the cucumbers.”  

He softly laughed into the phone.  

“I know you like to eat, girl. Our lives will never be the same after tonight, and I can’t wait to see you.  I love you.”

Riley opened her eyes seeing her mother standing at the door, eyes filled with tears.  

“Mom…”  

Ren rushed to Riley to give her an embrace holding her tight.  

“I can’t imagine what you’re feeling right now Jelly Bean, but I’m here, whatever you need.  We’re here.”  

Her mom took tissue and gently wiped the tears from Riley’s eyes, and kissed her cheeks.  

“Do you want some breakfast?  I’ll make you anything you want.”

“Can we have chocolate cake?”  

“Yes, I’ll start it now.  I brought down a box of your old clothes.  They might not be the most trendy, but they’ll fit you a lot better right now.   I can go  to the mall and pick you up a few things later, maybe you can come with me if you want.”

“No this is fine.  I think I’ll take a shower too before breakfast.”  

“That sounds like a good idea. I’ll see you downstairs in a bit.”

Feeling refreshed after her shower Riley started going through the box of clothes her mother had left.

Riley knew she had lost a little bit of weight, but to be sure none of her high school clothes would fit, which was the box of clothes her mom had left for her.  

“This will be a fun trip down memory lane.”

Riley found her track suit in  the box and her senior skip day shirt.  She slipped on the clothes and they fit her as well as they did when she was in high school.  Riley had lost a lot of weight.  At least twenty pounds was her best guess.  She almost looked like her high school self again, but her eyes.  You couldn’t mistake the pain in her eyes that had aged her.

“This was my childhood home.  We never had much.  Sometimes I went without to make sure my sisters could eat.”

Nico’s voice was soft.  It was a small, shack-like structure; she didn’t know how in the world  his mother raised Nico with his sisters in that tiny place.

“Why are you ashamed of this? There’s nothing wrong with coming from meager beginnings.  Is this part of the reason why you would come to Greece without me? Like I would look my nose down at your family?  How could you think that would actually be me?”

“Because of all He gave you. You have access to the Palace because of your lifetime tie that binds the two of you together.He gave you an elevated title and a duchy. I think part of that was to get you to stay in Cordonia, because he was going to try to win you back Riley.  And I think I really believe you might have chosen differently that night if you had known you were pregnant with William.”

“Liam died Nico.  I would have never had a future with him.  I would have never wanted to be queen without him with me.  That would have put me ruling as regent until William was of age.    Besides, the money never mattered to me. I love you Nico. It’s also clear, your mother and your family work hard. I know the home your family has now is thanks to you. I know you help take care of your mother and sisters right?”  

He nodded. "I have always sent money home for them.  I came to Cordonia to work and make a better life for them.”

“How old were you when you started working?”

“I’ve worked in some capacity to help my family since I was eight. I started helping some of my family members and the men on the fishing boats in the summers.”

“Did you even have a childhood Nico?”  

“Not the way  you are thinking I should have, by the sound of your voice.  I had to help my mom and my sisters.  She tried to hide the fact we were financially struggling the best as she could, but I saw, and I had to help her.”    

He turned away from the house to face Riley.

"I want them to be able to be children Riley. I love seeing Will giggle when he's playing and happy and I can't wait to meet our second son."

“I can’t wait either, Nico.”   Riley rested her hand on Nico’s that was softly pressed to her stomach.

Before long, it was time.  

So many people were in the waiting room. It was standing room only.

And after five hours of labor  Riley gave Nico another son,  Alexander.  

She watched Nico as he held Alexander in his arms for the first time.  That was the look that she wanted to see from him in the beginning.  The way he was so enamored with Alex from the start, he had to grow to do it with William.  

“Riley, he's so beautiful.  He’s perfect in every way. He’s our son.”  

She softly kissed his forehead when Nico brought him over so she could hold him.  He looked just like Nico.  

Nico kissed her lips. “I love you.”
