Started our day early with a drive along part of the Blue Ridge Parkway in North Carolina. They call it ‘America’s Favorite Drive.’ And we can see why: absolutely gorgeous! #travelswithscooby #northcarolina #blueridgeparkway (at Blue Ridge Parkway) https://www.instagram.com/p/CjlnqvcJ93j/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Accidentally passed by Lake Tahoma in NC. And the water was so quiet, it made the perfect mirror😊. #travelswithscooby #laketahoma #blueridgemountains (at Lake Tahoma) https://www.instagram.com/p/CjlomEep_ZB/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

And Day # 91 of our Great American Road Trip brought us finally to the best destination imaginable: home. The past three months have been truly wonderful: we have driven coast to coast and back, we drove over 11,000 miles, we’re in 21 states, saw great natural beauty, many state and National Parks, and met a lot of inspiring people. But hey, you know what they say: there’s no place like home 🤗. #travelswithscooby #greatamericanroadtrip #nyc #airstream #airstreambambi (at Manhattan, New York) https://www.instagram.com/p/CiwDqGGDRFs/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Day # 88 of our Great American Road Trip took us through four states today: started in Wisconsin, drove into Illinois, transferred through Indiana, and ended in northwest Ohio. Getting stuck in traffic in Chicago (Sears Tower in the middle) felt almost like being home again 😂. Just wondering what that truck with ‘Dutch Maid’ is all about… #travelswithscooby #chicago (at Chicago Downtown) https://www.instagram.com/p/CioFYrjJ1I0/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

So, day # 87 of our Great American Road Trip took us back to Wisconsin, the state of the great Greenbay Packers American Football team (one of the most sympathetic teams, imo, as it is basically’ owned’ by their fans/supporters). And it also happened to be a Friday, so we decided to make use of it by ordering the traditional Friday Fush Fry: a simple meal with generous amounts of battered and fried whitefish (haddock tonight), and two sides. I had a salad and coleslaw. Loved it! #travelswithscooby #fridayfishfry #wisconsin (at North South Seafood & Smokehouse) https://www.instagram.com/p/CioEgagJIRv/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Day # 85 of our Great American Road Trip took us from Buffalo WY to Interior SD. Our first day (and more to come) almost exclusively on I90, America’s longest interstate. With a surprise at the end: the road from the interstate to Interior took us right through Badlands National Park. And what an unearthly beauty that has! #travelswithscooby #interstate90 #badlandsnationalpark (at Badlands National Park, SD) https://www.instagram.com/p/CigwhrLDrbT/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

On Day # 84 of our Great American Road Trip, we left Yellowstone National Park and started our journey back east. Today we drove from Yellowstone via the Bighorn Mountains and the city of Cody to Buffalo WY. A trip that asked a LOT from our car, engine, and brakes. But we made it! And Scooby liked to be on the highest seat, keeping an eye on everything, #travelswithscooby #bighornmountainswyoming #codywyoming https://www.instagram.com/p/Cid95_wpAiL/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

On Day # 83 of our Great American Road Trip, we hiked along the South Rim of the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone River. And what a beautiful piece of nature that us! With the Upper Falls, Lower Falls, colorful canyon walls, and next past Ribbon Lake, Lily Pond Lake, and the Wapiti Trail across a very empty alpine meadow. Absolutely delightful! #travelswithscooby #yellowstonenationalpark #southrimtrail (at Upper Falls And Lower Falls, Yellowstone National Park,Wy) https://www.instagram.com/p/Cid7OUbJsk9/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Day # 80 of our Great American Road Trip was especially varied: we hiked the Storm Point Nature Trail (glorious) and saw a lot of marmots. Then we saw a lot of people watching two grizzlies by the side of the road (exciting). When we reached our camp, there was a big elk bull checking out the sites (hilarious). And then we even got to see Old Faithful. #travelswithscooby #yellowstonenationalpark #grizzlybears #elkbull #oldfaithfull #thankful #grateful (at Storm Point) https://www.instagram.com/p/CiVpe4HpN_U/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

On Day # 78 of our Great American Road Trip we took a day off in Arco, ID. Though a small city, it has at least two distinct claims to fame: (1) on 7/17/1955, Arco was the first city in the world where all lights were powered by nuclear energy, making it also the first peaceful use of atomic power; (2) since 1920 all graduating classes of the local high school have painted their graduation year in the mountain overlooking the city, causing it to be nicknamed ‘Graduation Mountain’ or, alternatively ‘Numbers Hill.’ It is also quite close to Craters if the Moon and it NEVER rains here. #travelswithscooby #arcoidaho #arcoidahofirstcityintheworldpoweredbyatomicpower #graduationmountain (at Arco, Idaho) https://www.instagram.com/p/CiOeCyOJB6x/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Day # 77 (yes, 11 weeks already!) of our Great American Road Trip brought us from Boise, ID to the Craters of the Moon National Monument (in eastern Idaho). Formed by volcanic eruptions only 2000 years ago, it has created an unearthly landscape with lava pillars, caves, and fascinating tunnels. Scooby loved it too! Great for a trip (but it’s a long drive). #travelswithscooby #cratersofthemoon #cratersofthemoonnationalmonument #idaho (at Craters of the Moon National Monument & Preserve) https://www.instagram.com/p/CiL1T5nJ_yA/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Day # 76 of our Great American Road Trip: Labor Day today, so most everything is closed. We did however manage to see something of the Greenbelt. The Greenbelt is a series of pathways (mostly, but not everywhere, paved) for pedestrians, joggers, bikes, inline skaters of about 25 miles on both sides of the Boise River, connecting several parks, right in the city center of Boise (which feels suburban even in the heart of it). #travelswithscooby #boiseidaho #boisegreenbelt (at Boise, Idaho) https://www.instagram.com/p/CiJiqLbvLw7/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

On Day # 74 of our Great American Road Trip, we visited the capital city of Idaho, Boise. Boise is famous for its Basque Block: a part of town where a sizable community of Basque immigrants used to live. We saw the Cyrus Jacobs home, built in 1864, is the oldest surviving brick dwelling in Boise. Jacobs, a prominent merchant and mayor of Boise, lived here for almost 40 years. Beginning in 1910, it became the residence of Basque families- first, the Galdos, then the Bicandis, and finally, in 1917, Jose and Hermenegilda Uberuaga. Here, these families provided a "home away from home" for sheepherders and other boarders. In 1983, Adelia Garro Simplot purchased the property from the Uberuagas to preserve the rich tapestry of Idaho Euskaldunak history. This dream became a reality in 1985 when the Basque Museum and Cultural Center aquired the house. It stands as a tribute to Basque boarding house life in America. #travelswithscooby #boiseidaho #basqueblockboise (at Boise, Idaho) https://www.instagram.com/p/CiDwtF5PGDD/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

On Day # 73 of our Great American Road Trip, we returned to Idaho. Not the panhandle where we were two weeks ago, but the southeast region of Boise. Pleasant lunch at the Starlite Café. And what is the first thing you see when you walk into an Idaho Walmart???? #travelswithscooby #idaho #idahopotatoes (at Starlite Cafe) https://www.instagram.com/p/CiBgCnpplAy/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
