Teachers Learning Together!
Tumblr media
An on-going exciting professional development initiative our instructional employees engage in is our year-long symposium that focuses on a specific educational issue.  The experience is basically a 40 hour graduate-level course that all the teachers go through together. This year the theme has been "Becoming and Belonging--Adolescent Identity Development."  We have used time before and after breaks to do readings, listen to guest speakers, and have time together to share and learn.
Yesterday, our symposium session was built around four chapters from the book  Understanding Youth by Eric Toshalis and Michael Nakkula.   We spent time discussing the chapters, doing individual reflections, and worked through a meaningful case study in small groups. Thank you Jini Sparkman and Mb Duckett-Ireland for coordinating a meaningful class.
Pictured above Sarah Barton, Kelly Casey, Rick Eccleston, Elizabeth Wolf, and Ginger Comstock work through a realistic case study of a student confronting an indendity crisis.

History of maritime trade in Odisha
History of maritime trade in Odisha
Maritime Affairs of Odisha Odisha was known as Kalinga in ancient times. According to some ancient sources, the maritime trade of the people of Kalinga dates back to 350 BC. Merchants / merchants from the region were able to establish trade relations with the Southeast Asia and China across the Bay of Bengal. Kalinga's culture can be seen in many parts of Southeast Asia. The Bay of Bengal is known as the "Kalinga Sea" in a manuscript of the sixth century AD. This indicates the influence of the Kalinga monopoly on maritime trade at the time. The Bali Yatra, Boit Bandhan, which is still celebrated in Odisha, is a living witness to this great history.
Location-- Kalinga, located in the eastern part of the Indian subcontinent, stretched from the south bank of the Ganges River to the Godavari River in ancient times. It now extends to the western border of West Bengal, Odisha, Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu. Many rivers, such as the Mahanadi, Bamsadhara, Godavari and the Ganges, are endemic and could be reached from the east coast to many inland areas. Trade with Sinhala, Burma, Southeast Asia, China, etc. could have been very easy due to the many seaports built along the shores of the coast and on the rivers. The geography of coastal areas is usually changing. The southeastern monsoon is affected by the effects of the monsoon, and the flow of sand in the rivers changes dramatically near the mouth. Sometimes the river changes direction and opens a new mouth, and sometimes the tide leaves the bhatta very deep. Because of this, many of the ancient ports are now completely extinct. A blazing example of this is Chile, which has long been a popular tourist destination. However, it is unknown at this time what he will do after leaving the post. Some of the ports mentioned by Rachin in geography in the second century AD are Nanigin (Puri), Kannagar (Konark), and Katikardam (Cuttack). However, Tolmi's writings do not mention many major ports, such as Manikpatna, Kalingapatna, Palu, Pithund, Chelitalo, and Khalkatpatna. However, later, in the ninth and tenth centuries AD, the Arabs mention Odisha, Ganjam, Kalinganagar, Kelkan, Al-Lava, and Nubin. Baleshwar, Pipili, Ganjam, Harishpur, Chandbali and Dhamra were known as major ports in the fifteenth century AD. Rock History-- Archaeological excavations from the Golbai dynasty date back to the Stone Age (circa 2300 BC), the post-Bronze Age or the Iron Age, and the post-Iron Age (circa 900 BC). Ancient artifacts unearthed here indicate that it was an ancient Boit construction site. Fishing, fishing rods and the rest of the fishing gear indicate that fishing was a major occupation at the time. The two countries are thought to have been linked to Vietnamese artefacts dating back to the Middle Ages. Kalinga ruled Magadha around 362 BC. It was liberated in 320 BC. But again in 261 BC, it was conquered by the Ashoka king of Mauritius. Some historians believe that Shishupalagarh was called Toshali from 300 BC to 400 BC and Kalinganagar for a short time before the first century BC. It was also the provincial capital of Ashoka at one time. The history of his later life is not clear from the lack of evidence. When two states, North Kalinga and South Kalinga, were formed, the two states merged and became known as Kalinga. Kalinga was once considered an independent state and sometimes ruled by neighboring states. From 700 to 1000, the northeastern part of Odisha was known as Utkal. At this time Utkal was ruled by the Bhumkar dynasty. From 810 to 850 AD, the rulers ruled under the Bengal dynasty of Devapala, but Utkal gained its independence from Devapal's later rulers. For a number of years (1012-1044) Utkal came under the rule of Rajendra Chol, the king of the Tamil Chol Empire. After independence, the Eternal Burman Chodgangdev conquered the area between 1078 and 1191. He relocated from his capital, Kalinga, to Cuttack. Odisha's political and military power has not always been stable. In 1586, Odisha lost its independence again.
Boit-- The Sanskrit arguments are based on the rules of Boit construction. According to the Madalapanji, Raja Bhoj used to make many boats using the wood found in his place in his time. The remains of the tools used by carpenters found in the Golbai, close to Chile, testify to the fact that the Golbai is made of many boats.
