hi !!! could you possibly write headcanons for robin arellano x babysitter reader ? (platonic) w the reader maybe being like 15-17 or something. still older but still in school so they know some people robin talks abt ?<3

my first 'x reader' request <3 i hope you enjoy i have no clue what i am doing LOL. this became a lot longer than i realized... also i plan on sunday night/ monday finally answering my inbox!

cw: mentions of violence, cursing, implied child abuse, small angst portion at the end that follows canon sorry i couldn't resist </3

ok so first off, you probably started babysitting him when he was like in 4th grade so like 10 years old and you were 14 trying to make some extra money

and your neighbor mrs. arellano needed someone to be with her son for four hours after school cause lets say robin's uncle had new working hours

you would pick robin up from school that let out at 3, help him with homework, make him a snack, play with him until 6 pm when his uncle would return home

very easy job!

except in the beginning robin would NOT open up

anything you would do he would look at you indifferently and not react

at like all

not even when u made his food into fun shapes

you: i cut your sandwich into fun faces! :)

robin: *slowly blinks, takes the plate of the sandwiches with no expression and walks away*

so for the first two weeks you saw him as a little brat and you couldn't handle this kid

you were considering asking mrs. arellano if she could get another babysitter so you could quit or at least watch him less

that was until one day, the day you planned to talk to mrs. arellano about getting a new sitter when this kid

absolutely out of nowhere

would not stop clinging to you

you went to pick him up from school and he zoomed out the building and fucking JUMPED to hug you

you: ????

like he wanted to be carried home, and when you couldn't cause his back pack was heavy (wtf were teachers assigning to 4th graders these days???) he settled for holding your hand and talking about his day

and when you got him home he wanted to help prepare his snack

turns out he was analyzing you to see if you were a good person, a vibe check sort to speak

and you passed! congratulations!

also turns out for his art project in school he drew you :(

(you have that photo in your wallet and show everyone even when robin is like 18 you will go 'look what robin drew for me!' and he will threaten to hit u')

so now you are stuck with this kid for the rest of your life

when his 11th birthday rolls around you're the first person this kid invites

also at this party this is when you meet finney!

robin is SO stoked to have you meet his best friend he wouldn't stop talking about it leading up to his birthday

ok so timeskip to when robin is 13 and you are 17

while he doesn't need a babysitter now he will not let you go

you are like an older sibling to him he will be damned if you stop hanging out with him

think steve and dustin from stranger things

anyways

and since now robin has like gotten in many fights now and has a rough kid reputation and now u get the pleasure of making sure his wounds don't get infected! so happy 4 u

u scold him a lot the first couple times he get in a fight while taking care of him so he has finney clean him up before he sees you after school to avoid that

speaking of finney

he would be friends with the rest of the casper crew so now you have seemingly adopted them too

i think out of the rest of the casper crew, besides robin, you would be pretty close to vance and griffin

vance, because he also is a rough kid like robin but you quickly break down vance's walls surprisingly

he tries to act tough but when u call him kiddo/ help take care of his hair he gets real quiet and has a small smile on his face

honestly ur just good with rougher kids, like when u grow up u end up going to become a therapist to help those rougher kids and understand them

and griffin because he's small, u could pick him up like a ragdoll and throw him against the wall u have this need to protect him

but he's also the biggest instigator so now u have to really control him

griffin, to vance: me, personally, i would not let that slide

you: *sighing, having to hold both vance and griffin at the collars of their shirts like cats*

you about robin: they are lovely amazing kids they are my pride and joy :)

you about vance and griffin: these are my dogs, they have rabies

for finney, you also unknowingly adopt gwen alongside him

they are a two-in-one deal tbh

when nights get bad at their house cause of their father, they leave to stay the night at yours and you comfort them

so u especially take up a more parent role for those two

also remember i mentioned u cutting robin's food into fun shapes? you bring back your star cookie cutters for finney

he acts nonchalant but inside he's freaking out over the star shaped sandwiches

for billy/ paperboy, hes like the most normal of the bunch, the straightman if u will

when u have to leave the room for like two minutes u always have billy be in charge (he has those spray water bottles u use on cats when they misbehave)

now bruce... i feel like he unknowingly makes enemies with people so now u have to protect this kid from getting jumped and he has not a damn clue what's going on

u knock on his head and u hear an echo (/lh)

so atp robin def has a key to your house so now they can terrorize u whenever u want

you, walking into your home: hello people who don't live hear

robin: yo

vance: sup

bruce: hey!

billy: *waves without looking up from his book*

finney: robin brought us here

griffin: we were out of doritos so we came to steal from you!

they all take a year away from your life

to circle this back to robin, you two are obviously the closest

as stated above, he sees you as an older sibling and while u love all the others who entered your life, it will always be you and robin

you are the first person he tells when he gets a 'C' on his math test

he will always be able to mention you to someone in a conversation

you are one of his role models in life

at the end of the day, you two will always be bonded for life

when robin goes missing, you are a mess. it was one of the two days you typically don't see robin, and now you feel it was your fault he was taken. how could you be so careless? late at night, you wish it was you that was taken.

Time seems to have changed since being down in that grimy basement. Has it been an hour? Maybe even a week, hell if you knew. What was once an already shitty day turned even worse in the snap of one's fingers. Getting your shit rocked when you tried helping your friend, Finney, from his bullies, getting picked on by your math teacher, and the cherry on top, getting grabbed by The Grabber.

Ring!

Here goes that phone again. It seems like every five minutes that damn phone goes off, no matter how much you ignore it. After being irritated by the rings one too many times, you finally picked up the phone.

The static rings throughout the receiver, which makes you feel unease as you look down to see the wire on the phone not connected to the wall.

"Hello?" Silence. You wait a minute for an answer. "What do you want?" Another silence. As you go to hang up the phone, a voice you never thought you would hear again.

"Don't hang up." Billy.

Billy was your neighbor, and childhood friend since diapers. Your mothers were close so it only made sense you two were close. In more recent years though, Billy busy with being the town's newsboy and you having volleyball take up your time. When your mom came up to you to tell you Billy went missing, you felt your stomach drop, terror filling your senses.

Now here you are, hearing the voice of your missing childhood friend.

"Billy? Holy fuck is that you?" You inquired the voice.

"I don't know."

"You don't know? You are Billy Showalter, I have known you all my life, you're the damned paperboy!"

"Don't call me that... name." Billy was uncomfortable at the mention of his name.

"What should I call you then?"

Silence. "Call me Paperboy."

"Paperboy-- got it. Why are you calling? Where are you calling from?" You started to question.

"From the same phone you are using." You felt dread fill your body as he said that, the only way possible for that to happen was...

You gulped, and before you could think you said, "Did he.. The Grabber, you know..." You trailed off at the end of the sentence, but Billy-- or Paperboy-- knew what you were trying to say.

"Yes, and I am here to make sure you don't end up like. Like the rest of us."

"Are the others with you? Is Robin with you?" You didn't want the answer to that question, but if Billy was dead, Robin had to be too. You could only imagine Finney's face when finding out what happened to Robin.

"Look, I do not remember a lot, or your name but I do remember my... feelings about you. I remember being happy, and laughing and like a kid. I remember ice cream cones and water guns and... I don't want you to end up like me. I know it will be hard, but I know you can do it. You have so much to live for."

"So did you PB."

"Well the difference between us is that you will. You have been the only one to hear the phone, you have an advantage that we didn't."

After some silence, you finally answer, "What do I need to do?"

Billy, in the afterlife and the basement, put his hand onto your shoulder, but all you could feel was a sudden coldness.

"Listen to the calls and use what we give you."

i think he has two younger sisters he would do anything for, im talking his sisters are like ages 3-6

and for some added angst don’t think about his sisters crying for their big brother to play with him but he can’t hear them, he’s stuck in a basement

Heya this might be silly but would you ever consider writing a Drabble about a love triangle where robin and Vance are kinda fighting over Finns affection and attention, and Finn has no idea lol

i am changing the premise of this a little bit cause i am pretty sure vance is 17 and finn is like 13, but i still hope you like this!

‘What did that douchebag have that he didn’t?’ Robin asked himself as he glared over at resident bad boy, Vance Hopper who was walking right outside his classroom. Earlier in the morning, he and Finney happened to see Vance kick the ever loving shit out of some kid, neither knowing the reason why, but that was just how Vance rolled. This wouldn’t be the first time Finney has seen Vance do that, but something sparked in his mind after this particular beatdown. All day, Finney cannot shut up about Vance Fucking Hopper. It was now almost 1 pm and he was still going on and on and on about the older boy they saw that morning.

“Honestly, I don’t think there’s anyone more manly than Vance, that’s even including the adults in this town!” Snap! Finally turning his attention from the boy he couldn’t stop talking about to the boy that was with him, Finney just looked at Robin with a stupidly cute confused look on his face. The pencil that Robin was holding now in two, Robin seemed to break out of his jealous stupor to lock eyes with Finney. 

Looking expectedly at him, Finney asked the other, “Why did you break your pencil?”

“When are you gonna stop talking about Vance?” The words seemed to just slip out of his lips in anger, letting the negative thoughts cloud his judgements. Finney blinked back at the older, before slowly allowing his lips to turn upwards into a teasing smirk. 

“Aw, are you jealous you aren’t the only person I find manly?” Blushing fiercely, Robin tried to turn his head away from Finney and looked over at a random spot on the wall. Suddenly, he felt a pull on his cheek. Finney pulled at his cheek like what his aunties did when they see him at any family event, cooing at him. 

“Don’t worry, Wobin, I wuv you most of all!” Exaggerating the baby talk and sticking his bottom lip out in a pout. Robin felt eyes on this moment that weren’t there, the two being way back into the classroom. 

“Ew, stop it!” Robin tried to push away but Finney just followed him and continued babying him. At this point, the two were almost falling out of their chairs, but Robin was just glad he didn’t have to hear more about Vance ‘Stupid Mother Fucker’ Hopper for the rest of the day.

My only pet peeve about black phone was Robin walking around in the autumn breezy weather in nothing but a tank top like it’s no biggie lol…my boi I know you are tough as nails but plz put on a coat goddammit

i mean it might just be a midwest thing but i think there’s always that kid that’s like wearing shorts and a tank in the dead of winter going ‘it’s not that cold u guys’ but he probably only wears a coat when his mom stops him and puts it on for him cause he forgets to lol

Other than for narrative reasons, why do you think robin waited so long to ring the phone and speak to finn

he probably wanted to deny the fact that one of, if not his closest, friends got kidnapped by the man who killed him, he also probably wanted to be the one to give him the pep talk before the fight with the grabber

Atm what are you fav black phone fics or headcanons going around in the fandom?

well for fics im really digging this stranger things x black phone crossover, it only has two chapters so far but i’m really digging it and is inspiring me to write my own crossover (linking it at the bottom of this post)

as for headcanons, this isn’t really going around the fandom but vance being autistic, the reason being is that many things we see him do/ act like remind me of how i react when i have sensory issues or when i get interrupted when doing something i’m hyper focused on (the pinball scene comes to mind) and it’s just really fun to hc my faves as being autistic

Do you think the ghosts victims talked to eachother before Finn was/while in the basement? Also do you think they worked together in trying to help Finn? Or did everyone act on their own?

hm, i feel like before finney was taken the ghosts tried to communicate to the other victims, cause they mention the grabber hearing the black phone rings too when they call so they must have used it, but possibly the reason why they didn’t escape was either less of a will to live/ didn’t survive long enough to hatch a plan (i point this out cause it seems like bruce was missing for like a month before robin was taken yet a week only passed for when finney was taken, i can’t remember the timeline exactly but it does state the kidnappings started at least around spring time of that year so that’s like half a year and if we go on the fact the grabber kidnapped a new kid as soon as the one he had was killed)

and to the other question, i think they got together to work for finney, cause at that point they saw finney and 2/5 boys already had some kind of connection with him, so more drive from them to help finney survive, cause they wanted him to survive

hey y’all i am so sorry for my inactivity 😭 i’ve been busy focusing on moving out and college stuff that i haven’t been writing at All.. i will try to write stuff once i officially move into my new place but also understand i will also be doing college freshman stuff too!!
