It's... been a long road, for me, to undo a lot of the damage the pressure to be "normal" did in my childhood and adolescence. I'm still not all the way there, and perhaps I never will be.

The worst part isn't the harm that's done to you directly, though that's certainly horrific at the time. The worst part is how it trains you to apply the standards others forced upon you to yourself, even long after the outside pressure stops. They don't need to force you to be normal any more. You're more than capable of doing that to yourself.

What I'm saying is, if this is a theme that stays strong throughout? This is going to be a show I really wish I'd had as a kid.
