My five happy things for today

• getting to learn from my OWN childhood interests and activities and struggles and use that directly to help make someone else’s cooler or easier or more enjoyable with less struggle 💕💕💕

• my silly little cheapo floppy ghost canvas fabric slip-ons from TJ Maxx clearance. So much joy for so few dollars

• knee isn’t messed up today!!!! so ankle and hip are also much less messed up! so nice! so easy to walk without thinking!

• getting to change up pen type and print size with my mood bc I have all my favorite pens sitting out visible and accessible on my desk these days right in my reach 💕✒️

• middle-of-the-night-yoga when I’m not sure what I need or what I’m feeling and I want to feel safer and more comfortable and relaxed in the current experience of my body

A Very Mim Review:

Okay, this sequel was definitely not better than the first installment in this series. I honestly expected more? Somehow, the beginning of the book checked all of my boxes but then it just diverged into something that, totally bored me.

A short summary with spoilers;

Centered around Gordo, the first half of the book shows snippets and pieces of his backstory up to the first moments he shared with Mark Bennett who was his wolf mate. Gordo, being a Livingstone, and the witch to the Bennett pack, finally started living a life he wanted for himself. But then it all shattered when Thomas, the pack Alpha, decided it was time he took over his late father's mantle, and with him his tether, his pack, leaving Gordo behind. Holding many grudges and developing massive trust issues, it took Gordo a while to reopen his heart for his mate, after years of separation.

End of summary.

Of course, there were a lot of magical and werewolf-y scenes, the mystical moon magic moment Gordo and Mark had, and the high found family vibes. I found that the best part about this book was the intense and raw feelings emanating from the pack, about their closeness and ties, the found family trope was immaculate. That's pretty much it.

I stopped caring about the main characters halfway through the book and instead started focusing on the side characters and their platonic relationships. I thought the events of them getting back together just happened too quickly, or rather, too undeveloped for me, I wasn't that satisfied. I couldn't get all jittery over them like I was on the main couple of Wolfsong. It's a shame, considering I was looking forward to their confrontation and the crumbling of the tsundere, but it all just happened, un-climatically.

I wanted more, I was given more of what I didn't ask for, but it's okay. It certainly was all fluff and angst, a good combo. But the rest of the book felt rushed in a bizarre sequence. Great character development though! Even if he was still an ass.

And I honestly am still sticking around for Carter and Kelly, most wholesome brotherhood I've ever read about.
