July 25, 2022 update

What is really happening & we'll be finding out in the time soon

- are metastatic tumors stable or growing?  I had growths show in May with mets in liver,  lung, kidney , lymph nodes. I should have CT in August

- outside of that the liver is doing its own failure; it's caused physical & mental illness & can just turn off altogether anytime

- might have other prime organs just choosing to fail & there's little to do

- I'm very jaundiced

- I have to take a medicine to try to keep my brain functioning

- I'm essentially bedbound,  very weak,  have intermittent pain & meds

-is there any different treatment or chemo usable or is this all impossible by now?

Do not pretend end stage triple negative metastatic breast cancer patients thrive. That's why I've started to hate the word thrive. TNBC has highest rate of metastatic return and it has the shortest metastasis survival time.  That's where all the emphasis and fund-raiser needs to be : reducing stage 4 recurrence & raising its survival chances.

Back at Mayo for my quarterly scan and I can just feel the knots in my stomach release a little just walking in. Thankful for a space to feel a little safer with sane protections for those of us more susceptible to germs. Recently I have been thinking a lot about beauty and the difference between inner and outer beauty. 💗 Outer beauty is something you can easily change and alter. When I first met with my breast surgeon, he asked multiple times if I wanted reconstruction. I stayed firm and said I didn’t want reconstruction because my breasts had caused me a lot of pain and gave me cancer. He then asked about romantic relationships. I said I wouldn’t want a relationship with anyone who was just interested in my body and couldn’t love me for me. 💗 I have embraced my scars and love my body now. Inner beauty can’t be easily changed. It takes a very long time for someone to change who they are. Spent the entire day today at my kiddos’ school for field day. Thankful for the ability to be there with them, cheer them on, and get to know the other kiddos in their classes, their teachers and the other parents. Lost another dear friend to #mbc today and it makes me even more thankful for these times of stability when like proceeds a little more “normally” for all of us. PET scan is tomorrow so also on pins and needles for those results. Basically, I’m a hot emotional mess, just a liable to cry or laugh or whatever. But thankful. When I got pregnant with my boys, I never contemplated staying home with them for long. But when I was diagnosed with stage IV metastatic breast cancer (MBC), I had no choice but to leave my career. Today, I got to help chaperone the 4th grade field trip to St Augustine. While my feet hurt and the hand foot syndrome is flaring, my heart is full. The last week has been full of a lot of family time. We’ve made memories and discovered quite a bit about our growing boys. Thankful for all of it.
