Total drama gender bent names - Part 4

Zoey - Jeremy (Zoey coming from Zoe is traditionally a Jewish name as is Jeremy, they also share the ‘y’ sound at the end of the name)

Jo - Bruce (Jo coming from Josephine is a very traditional feminine name of French origin so I chose a very masculine French name to continue the theme)

Dawn - Lake (I looked for something rooted in nature and following the same hippy theme as dawn and chose Lake)

Staci - David (I personally head cannon that Staci (Anastasia) is a family name because of her obsession with ancestry and as we know through her numerous ramblings about her family she has a great grandfather called Dave - which presumably comes from David)

Dakota - Dallas (Dakota is a trendy American place name as is Dallas they also share the ‘Da’ beginning)

Anne Maria - Giovanni (The name Anne Maria comes from the name Anna-Maria which is of Italian-Catholic origin and means ‘God has favoured me’. Giovanni is also an Italian-Catholic name which means ‘God is gracious’)

B - Minnie (B’s full name is Beverly which throughout the 1800s was a masculine name so I looked for female names from this time period and one of the most popular names from this period was Minnie. Minnie also shares the ‘Y/ie’ ending with Beverly. It can also be shortened in the same way as B with M (or Em) being a popular girls name in it’s own right.)

Scott - Skye (Scott is an English name meaning ‘from Scotland’ so I looked at Scottish names and chose Skye because it shares the ’Sc/Sk’ beginning.)

Mike - Elise (Mike is the short form for Michael which means ‘who is like God’ whereas Elise means ’pledged to God’. They are also both quite traditional names and share the silent ‘E’ at the end.)

Lightning - Maria (Lightning’s real name is Rudolph which is German in origin and Maria also has German roots. Maria Sharapova is also one of the most renowned female athletes in the world and I can see Lightning’s father naming his children after athletes.)

Sam - Alex (Sam is a gender neutral nickname which could derive from either Samuel or Samantha so I chose another gender neutral nickname in Alex which could come from Alexander or Alexandra/Alexandria.)

Cameron - Kennedy (Cameron is a name with a very unusual meaning ‘one with a crooked nose’ so I looked for girls names with other strange meanings - not that I’m saying Cameron’s parents specifically chose a name with a weird meaning it was more for irony- and came up with Kennedy meaning ‘one with a deformed head’)

Brick - Navy (Brick is a very modern name which originates from the object so I looked for girl’s object names and came up with Navy. While Navy refers to the colour there are also obvious military ties which suit Brick.)

This one was really weird because Staci, Lightning and Scott all ended up with names from other characters in the franchise which was kind of weird but hey 🤷🏼‍♀️

Lady Gaga’s new album is beyond amazing. Favorite Film: The Princess Diaries 1 and 2 What do you enjoy about modeling? I enjoy the people I meet the most. They have all been so driven, creative, and fun to work with. The best connections form when there is a collaborative and energetic mood on set. Each idea is taken into consideration and built upon by the team. Beautiful images come out of those photo shoots, and everyone leaves with a tired smile on their face from a hard day’s work. What do you think is the most pressing current social issue? Women’s rights all around the world is an issue that I am passionate about. We are all people, and we all have ideas that are worth hearing and can make a change. No idea, thought, desire, or opinion should be shot down because of a gender. People say, “It’s 2016, this shouldn’t be an issue anymore,” but people where probably saying that in the ’80s. I am so happy to see that strong women and men are using available platforms to get the word out and to show support. We all just need to love one another and every being. Doing an act of kindness every day, no matter how small or big, could change someone’s day. Love conquers all evil. Guilty pleasure? The High School Musical series. Favorite article of clothing/accessory? My vintage ’80s tan wool duster coat that I bought when I first moved to California. Place you would want to visit? I would love to visit Ireland to see the castles and the rolling green hills. What are you currently obsessed with? I recently bought a pair of fuzzy sheets for my bed. They are a dark grey, and when you run your hand over them they turn a lighter shade of grey. They are so warm, and it feels like you are falling asleep on a cloud. What is your “guiding philosophy” for life? Enjoy the moment, and live one day at a time. Each day I remind myself to be grateful that I woke up in a warm bed and am about to go conquer a new day with new opportunities. Many people in this world don’t have the luxuries that we take for granted, like hot water, food, and a home. My goal for when I am “rich and famous,” as I always say, is to help someone on the street and to build an animal shelter. Do I need huge funds to do these specific things, yes. In the meantime, I make an effort to donate or lend a helping hand where I can and am able. I strongly believe in paying it forward and giving back when the world gives you so much.
