i was tagged by @britneyshakespeare to list 7 albums i listened to in 2017, thank yooou diana
(these aren’t in any like particular ranking or anything like that lol)
1. Belladonna of Sadness - Alexandra Savior
(in the absence of our beloved monkeys or shadow puppets, i was quite curious about this record hearing that alex turner co-wrote and produced it, and what do u know? it has this minimalistic vintage desert vibe and her voice is super croony and hypnotic,, definitely one of my favorites that came out last year)
2. Modern Life is Rubbish - Blur
(i can’t believe i didn’t get into blur until last year considering how hugely in love with them i am now,, anyways this was the first album of theirs i heard in full i think and wow i just,, fell in love with it like this was on all summer long)
3. After Laughter - Paramore
(oh my god, i really didn’t expect paramore’s new sound, but damn is it good,, im,, a big sucker for 80s inspired pop and i have this record to thank for getting me back into paramore after i hadn’t listened to them since middle school)
4. How Will You Know If You Never Try - COIN
(ok so i found them through the patrick stump remix of talk too much and their sound kinda reminds me of walk the moon almost,, ahhh idk this album is just something that ive been coming back to periodically since it came out last april I believe)
5. Violator - Depeche Mode
(hhh basic choice i know but im real glad i started listening to more new wave stuff last year bc wowow)
6. Harry Styles - Harry Styles
(i.. did not expect this whatsoever. did any of us really.. ive never ever once in my life been a one direction fan,, from the moment my 8 yr old ears heard what makes you beautiful for the first time in fourth grade i was.. not having it. however i did always sort of like harry, and i bet with my friends in middle school that he was going to be the most successful solo member, and while i don’t know if that’ll be true or not, holy shit hearing sign of the times for the first time was like.. a revelation. like i never expected harry styles to come out with a rock album but wow he did and lo and behold i loved it)
7. Humanz - Gorillaz
(i was hyped for this beyond belief, as i got into gorillaz in late 2016 and was right at the height of my obsession with them when this album was announced,, and while i agree it’s definitely not their best record, i didn’t feel that disappointed really, and there are just so many incredible songs on the album that i love to death)
uhhhhhhhhhh ill tag @nathefanwiththeaf @home-in-orbis @allmyparkliofe @whitedeadflower @local36degrees @haphazardlydreaming @jarjartrump if they want to
