"Leo King Didn't Deserve To Live!"
Thursday 8th October 2020
Good evening everyone! I hope you've all had a brilliant week! Tonight I'll be blogging about last night's episode, as tomorrow I'll be posting about tonight's episode. I apologise for the lateness, thank you all for being so patient with me! Let's delve right into it! So the episode starts with Gray, sat with his head bowed looking at  the floor, alone in his house - as we can see, his house is in utter disarray!! As music is being played, Gray looks up at his suit hanging on the back of the door, today is Chantelle's funeral. How is going to be able to keep things together? As he stares at his black blazer, the door bell rings, as he goes to the answer the door, the main thing we can see is a picture frame on the floor of him and his deceased wife. A man's voice can be heard from the hallway, the Detective has come back to give Gray the news that Chantelle's death has been declared as an accident. Gray feels as if that conclusion is an insult to Chantelle, but then again - is he only putting on a front because they've basically told him that he's gotten away with murder? He gives them the impression that they have missed something, to which the Detective seem to think that he means Kheerat? He informs Gray that if he has any news then he needs to tell them, to which is then he realises he can't tell them the complete truth, so he whispers "No". As the Detective leaves house, Gray goes to look out of his window, we see Whitney exit her house - she takes a huge deep breath, her trail starts today!
Meanwhile, at the Carter household, Mick appears to be writing out a card. Linda has gotten herself ready to attend Chantelle's funeral. It's clear to see that things are looking a little rocky in their relationship right now, they're both dealing with things in their own personal life and neither of them are talking to each other. That is how problems start - keeping secrets and not speaking to your partner. Mick is hiding the fact that he's found out Frankie is his daughter, and Linda is hiding the fact that she's taken a sip of alcohol and also Max kissed her. Linda tries to talk to her husband, as Mick listens to wife without saying a word as he's writing the card, she states how much she loves him. It looks as if she's finally going to come clean - she starts off by beginning to explain it happened the night at the Prince Albert, it looks as if Mick is ready to guess what she's going to say - but she backs down at the last minute and instead tells him that Max kissed her, instead of telling her husband about the big gulp of vodka that she drunk! Mick doesn't say anything - he carries on writing his card, Linda is adamant that it didn't mean anything. As Mick walks away we see he's left his card on the table, Linda goes to have a read - we can see it's a sympathy card and inside it reads "Mitch! She'll always be your little girl! Mick x" (Not from Mick & Linda I noticed).
On the Square, everyone is gathering waiting to say their goodbyes to Chantelle. Mitch is dressed in black as he approaches the house, still flooded by flowers and tributes. Karen follows behind, determined to make sure her Grandchildren attend their Mother's funeral. Unfortunately, Mitch informs her that the children are at school, he even states that he wouldn't want Bailey there either. This is an interesting debate this one - should young children attend funerals? Of course it gives them a chance to say Goodbye to their loved one, but could it be a bit harrowing for them? Billy informs his girlfriend that the cars will be there shortly and she rushes off to get ready.
At the Panesar household, Suki is also getting ready, as she tells Vinny that Jack has managed to get her a meet up with Jags at the police station. Vinny beings to panic, thinking that his Mum, setting up his brother, probably wasn't the best idea she's had. He worries that Jags might end up telling the truth as to who was to blame for the attack on Martin. As they discuss Jags, Kheerat appears from the hallway, dressed up all ready to go to Chantelle's funeral. Suki begins to tell her son that he shouldn't go, considering how the family are acting around him right now. Kheerat is insulted by his Mother, he wants to pay his respects and he shall do so! As both Kheerat and Vinny leave the room, Suki ends up calling Ash asking her to go and visit Jags instead.
At the hospital, Phil is still longingly watching his son, Raymond through the hospital window. What is his plan on helping his son? Suddenly Ellie walks past Phil, not even realising who he is, as she goes in to see her Grandson! Phil then realises who she could be, how is he going to stand up against Ellie and gain access to his son? I'm sure I've read somewhere that Phil and Ellie are going to end up having a fling? I know it's just a rumour, but I hope it's one that isn't true! Phil shouldn't have to go down that route just to gain access to his son! Surely something else will happen, right?!
Oooo the next scene is a very interesting one! Back on the Square, Gray is ready to face everyone and the day ahead. He stares at himself in the mirror before he finally leaves the house. As he slowly makes his way down the stairs from the front door, to the front of the house - everything goes muffled. Everything seems to focus on Gray, I don't know about you guys but to me, he's looking extremely uncomfortable and incredibly angry. Everyone from Jay, Honey, Denise, Tiffany, Billy and the rest of the Taylor family are all there to give their condolences. As Gray looks across the Square a very dirty angry look is spread right across his face as we see Kheerat approach with a huge bunch of flowers, regardless of what people think right now, I think it's only fair he also gets to say Goodbye too. I feel that it's awful that Keegan tells him that he's not welcome. Gray looks as if he's not going to be able to handle the pressure of today, he watches as Karen breaks down and cries for her daughter as the hearse arrives. He is clearly getting more and more uncomfortable, he walks straight pasts the hearse as it parks up, doesn't even glance at Chantelle's coffin, and sits in the car other car at the back, telling the rest of the family he wants to travel on his own. Only once in the car he instructs the driver to take him to court! Is he seriously going to miss his wife's funeral and go to Whitney's aid instead?
As Ash is leaving to go and see her brother, Habiba stops her in her tracks, begging her to try and get her boyfriend out of prison. Habiba tells Ash all about her plans to make it known on social media that Jags is innocent, she even has a t-shirt made. Habiba tells Ash that they both know that Jags doesn't belong in prison and the fact that they've got the wrong man, Ash agrees that she'll try all she can to get Jags out. Eventually she finally gets to the prison to see her brother, they are both obviously really upset by what has happened. Jags has found out that it was his Mother who set him up, Ash is completely devastated for her brother, she tries her best to convince him to tell the truth. But he won't have any of it, he insists that if Ash helps him, Suki will come for her also - it's true that their Mother appears to have a dark side. What will do if she finds out that Ash tried to help him? To keep his sister from getting into even more trouble, it looks as if Jags is going to take the blame. He tells her to inform his girlfriend that he's guilty. As he leaves, Ash is left in tears.
Finally Whitney arrives at the courtroom ready for her trial. The room is all quiet before the proceedings start, she arrives with Sonia for support. Suddenly, Gray bursts through the doors, he doesn't make eye contact with anyone and sits in the bay. Whitney is clearly stunned to see him there, today of all days! He's clearly using Whitney's trial as an excuse for him to escape Chantelle's funeral.
Back at the hospital, Phil takes it upon himself to speak to Ellie. As they chat, he makes up a story about his Granddaughter being in the hospital with a broken leg. As they chat, Ellie reveals where she's and asks where Phil lives, he doesn't even mention Walford and mentions another area, Ellie is surprised and asked who his parents were as she might've known them. As he gives the names Peggy and Eric, Ellie apologises as she doesn't recognise the names. They leave things on a civil note and we can see that Phil knows who he's dealing with now. He knows who he's up against.
Oooooooo does anyone hate Suki a much as I do?! I wasn't going to mention this before as I didn't think it was important ... Oooh but it bloody is now!! Earlier on in the episode, Stacey was still trying to make amends with her Mum, as she was - Suki was being a nosy neighbour overhearing their conversation, she basically starts to insult Jean and Stacey, only for then in brilliant Stacey-style, she stands up for her family and throws in the insults about Jags being done for GBH! As Suki walks off, Stacey warns her not to mess with the Slaters! BUT later on, as Kush and Jean are minding their own business in their house, Suki lets herself in, much to their shock. Kush and Jean both ask Suki politely to leave, but Suki makes it business by stating that she did knock but there was no answer so she used her keys ...... I don't believe there was a knock was there? I didn't hear one! I believe she let herself in! ... Anyway she decides to drop the big bombshell onto them that she's going to be raising their rent because of having new people in the house! Jean begins to think it's because of what Stacey said to Suki earlier, but she shrugs it off as if she doesn't care, she even nastily insults Daniel in front of Jean as Kush enquires about the money Daniel paid their rent with before he sadly passed. As she leaves, she has a smug grin on her face!!! Ooooh I hate her so much!!!
Meanwhile, back at Whitney's trail, everything is all a-go! The jury are in place and everyone is listening to what the judge has to say. As he describing everything that happened on the night Leo died, Gray is seen listening to every word and - in a way - it looks and sounds as if he's the one on trial. If you understand what I mean? I don't know whether you lot noticed, but they've made Leo's death sound very accurate to Chantelle's death also. How someone was left to bleed to death as the other person went out. It could be as if Gray was the one on trial! As Gray is listening to these words he shouts out from the bay "No! It wasn't like that!" - Sonia and Whitney look at him in shock of his outburst, Sonia tells him to keep quiet, Whitney looks afraid for her life, could he be jeopardising her trail with his outbursts? As he sits back down he whispers "This is a farce!"
Back at the Vic, everyone has come back from Chantelle's funeral. Karen is at the bar looking at Chantelle's picture on the service card. As Billy is buying a round of drinks, Karen informs him that Mitch has gone to have a bit of time to himself, which has just happened to be half an hour! She's longing for all of her family to be together - just for one day! As then that Tiffany approaches with the news that Gray is at Whitney's trail, Karen is disbelief at first and tells her that she must be mistaken, it's only then that she confirms that it was Sonia who told her, and the fact that Gray is sat right next to her in court. Karen can't believe her ears, she upset that the children weren't there to say Goodbye, and now she's learned even her husband wasn't there! .... As much as I find this scene heart-breaking to watch for Karen's sake, three things have crossed my mind ... 1) Why didn't we see more of a funeral for Chantelle? She was a brilliant part of the soap and her story was so important, I felt like we should've seen more of a service for her! ... 2) Surely they must've noticed that Gray wasn't at the funeral? I mean, how could they have not noticed? I feel that could've be re-written as Karen being at the bar already in devastation and anger at her Son-In-Law not being at his wife's funeral? ... and 3) Isn't it funny how it just so happens to be Whitney's funeral the day of Chantelle's funeral? Easy escape for Gray to make really wasn't it?! ... I don't know, what do you guys think?!
Anyway, at the Prince Albert, Ash has returned from seeing Jags. Iqra joins her girlfriend for support. But their meeting is interrupted by Habiba, bless her - she's all smiles and hoping to hear news from Ash that her boyfriend is going to be released. Ash sadly gives her the news that Jags has confessed to the attack on Martin and the police have evidence. Habiba is saddened to hear this news, she insists it's all lies - of course Ash is aware of this but she can't let Habiba know the truth. She leaves the bar in distress and Ash insists Iqra goes after her sister.
Back on the Square, Frankie tries to catch up with Mick. She asks whether she's going to get time to speak to him. Of course Mick is on edge right now, he informs her he's just been to a funeral. She tries her best one last time to get through to him, she's his daughter and he needs to make the effort to spend time with her and get to know her, she's his child whether he likes it or not! As she walks away, we can he feels deeply sorry for the way he spoke to her, suddenly Max appears - definitely the last person Mick wants to see right now. He wastes no time and instructs Max to stay away from him and his wife, informing him that Linda has told him about their kiss. Max's attempt of an apology is to say he was drunk - but Mick isn't having any of it, he raises a glass bottle to Max in a threatening manner, warning him to stay away and calling him a predator! In frustration he flings the glass bottle in the other direction and it smashes against the Queen Vic wall and he walks away taking deep breaths.
The last scene of this episode, we finish at Whitney's trial, the jury - seen by video links - are listening to judge explaining that Leo had been called a terrifying stalker, how he'd threated Whitney and made her life a misery -  but Whitney has confessed to the killing, and if it was such an accident, why didn't she call the emergency services? But once again, as the judge explains this to the jury, Gray can't keep it together and continues to shout out to the court, stating that they don't care about the facts and that if Whitney had the chance she'd do it again! As Gray is escorted out of the room, Whitney begs him to stop, but he continues to shout out as he leaves the room. Both Whitney and Sonia are left in absolute shock! Has he made things far more worse for Whitney?
Once again, I apologise for the lateness of this post! I'll be back tomorrow following tonight's episode! Thanks again everyone! I hope you all have a brilliant weekend! xXx
