how to be wary/alert without crossing over into fear? is the question
#a question. i guess. today i had enough energy to think about how to navigate spaces/places w/o getting dumbed down by fear#ok a certain kind of fear. like the ..disabling kind? idk. mayb this is a superficial boundary but how to keep the leash on a warranted '#'paranoia'. alertness that enables access to action and direct action and harm reduction stuff. not endless paranoia and guilt-feeding.#feel like u have to be in a very well-resourced space internally to idk have the stamina to keep up that kinda alertness/wariness#this has a lot to do with killing/unlearning the part of you that cringes at being 'out of step' or being surveilled or not wanting to step#on ppl's toes or disturb the negative peace or whatever. i feel like i could've explained this better when im not knee-deep in an episode bu#whatever lol what i am saying is im fearfullllllll im full of fear and its not the healthy kind lol it is paralyzing it keeps me from breath#ing and moving and etc etc#and also when am i gonna feel secure enough to sense that this shit is just straight up silly? and stupid? all the way through? that i find#it so disinteresting and un-arresting that i am deeply unimpressed n so able to achieve another sorta buoyancy? that lets me keep working or#being or doing the shit i want to do#cuz rn im so fatigued -- well its better i used to not be able to lift a finger without wanting to die -- that all this seems inaccessible o#or something . and ive been passing slowly thru the same old acknowledgement that maybe it isnt lol. it makes sense that this is a praxis a#way of life to orient towards rather than uhh uh the thing in my head that says that losing my grip on this means losing my grip forever and#its a permanent reflection of my worth/failure or whatever. its a one-time thing. end or be all. all or nothing. etc#lol. like relearning is a one-time bus stop. lol. sorry lol.#u know i was so angry and despairing at how i cant even rest now without guilt pervading all senses even tho i remembered i could easily#and without effort before. and a little bit rn im having the space to remember that thats an active practice helloooo thats why its an activ#practice it did not hit me immediately or at all as most things do rn but uh yeah its starting to look not-impossible. finally. i really had#to slog thru months to come to a point where this is possible again huh. exhausting#dont rb#soy talks shit

Okay i've tried like 20 times to word this in a way that'll go as gently as possible but I dont think im gonna be 100% successful bc autism, so im just gonna post this and hope yall dont take it in bad faith:
Theres a lot of younger queers (especially AFAB ones) who still hold TERF ideology and the main reason I see them failing to let it go is because they cant embrace sex positivity.
Which like. I kinda get. I mean if I was AFAB and I grew up with creepy toxic masculine dudes constantly sexualizing me while i was still a child, and the pressures of family to reproduce, and all that shit that comes with being AFAB, i'd probably be scared as shit of sex. Heck I'm a *little* scared of it myself since I was sexually assaulted twice before I was 18! But I feel like thats something to fight against, because like...sex is healthy! Sex is good! Sex is the cause of literally all of our lives!!!!
And I'm not saying you have to have sex or anything, god no, I'm on the ace spectrum. I'm saying you have to be normal about sex, because sex is a part of life! Its ESPECIALLY a part of the queer community! And as much as it should be more welcoming to ace people, I also think demanding it be entirely chaste in order to welcome ace people is stupid and selfish and unhealthy.
"So whats this have to do with TERF ideology though?" Well, reader, I'm glad you asked, because "sex is scary" is the first step in the TERF ideology road! It usually goes "sex is scary" -> "men are scary" -> "anything with a penis is scary". And basically every queer person, at least on the surface, is against this. But under the surface, I find it all falls apart, especially amongst AFAB people. AMAB queers are expected to perform femininity to fit in, and almost always if it is the sort of space where femininity is scrutinized, it is expected that the feminine must also be chaste. I feel like thats no accident. It feels like any mention of sexuality from an AMAB person has them thinking about how we have a penis, such a lewd horrible thing, and then its like...instantly we become less womanly to them. They've let their fear tie femininity to a lack of sexuality, which is a TERF idea!
This also is what leads to more censorship of transfem people. As the recent bannings of transfem people on this site continue, I see a lot of posts saying stuff like "You wouldnt have this problem if youd just stop posting sexual content", even being reblogged by supposed allies.
And you might be thinking "well I'm AFAB but I'm trans, so, this doesnt apply to me. Theyre talking about actual TERFs!" And no, you're wrong. I see transmasc people who pull this shit ALL THE TIME. I recently had a transmasc friend cringe and tell me that the fact that I liked Asumi-chan Is Interested In Lesbian Brothels was a red flag because it was "clearly for the male gaze" which is absolutely TERF behavior. I also see a lot of transmasc people being dismissive of transfem fears in the current trans political situation. Its seemingly almost always a specific brand of UwU cottagecore transmasc that does it too, and a few of them I've even caught admitting they "used to be a TERF" which, I'm glad you no longer associate with them, but I'm telling you you still have shit to unlearn. Dont tell me this is out of my lane, either, its no different from if someone pointed out I still had toxic masculinity to unlearn! Which has happened, and I've examined mine. Why do you find it so unreasonable to examine yours?
Anyways thats all for now. Please do better. I shouldnt have to deal with this shit while the government is trying to kill me.

Random Headcanons for: Paladin Danse
♞ Unless you've caught him fresh out of the shower he's likely got dirt, grease, or sweat on him in some amount. Probably a bit smelly. It's not that he doesn't care about his hygene, he really does, it's just that he enjoys taking part in a lot of activities that leave him this way.
♞ On the up side, he has a strong stomach for grossness. From gorey combat to equally smelly bunkmates. It's not pleasant, but you just get used to it after so long. Though, while he may have gotten used to bad smells, that doesn't mean his sense of smell is any worse off for it. He's actually pretty sensitive to new scents around him and picks up on them fairly quickly. Kind of person to notice/comment on you using new hair product. (that's weird Danse)
♞ Obscenely hairy. He keeps the hair on his head and face in check, but doesn't really bother doing anything about his body hair. And it is everywhere. Everywhere. It also grows super quickly; if he isn't able to keep his beard in check it will grow out fast. Catch him with that depression beard.
♞ Largest companion besides Strong and possibly Ada (depending on her mods). He's a big man even out of power armour. Not like some modern steroid filled bodybuilder though. The only time his muscles are really well defined is when he's been in his power armour all day, or otherwise super occupied, and is thus very dehydrated, and even then he's still got a good layer of fat softening everything up. Just a natural good mix of height, muscle, and fat.
♞ Has always hated mirelurks, and generally any nonsense from the sea, but living in Rivet City made it worse, since they were an occasional problem for those living on lower decks. Just got really done with them. Will always have beef with whoever decided to name them kings and queens. Meet him in the debate hall for a verbal smack down.
♞ Doesn't drink nuka cola. It's the radiation and whatever the hell else is in them that worries him. Quantum is a nightmare and he cringes at anyone drinking it. Actually tends to be pretty picky about a lot of foods, but forces things down for the sake of nutrition. One of his simpler pleasures is just getting to enjoy a meal that's taste and texture doesn't put him off.
♞ He and Cutler were definitely more than just friends, but neither got the chance to confess their true feelings for the other and define what they truly were. Danse of course regrets this, and it also means he isn't comfortable referring to Cutler as anything more than a friend, while also feeling that word does no justice to their relationship.
♞ Obviously fell hard for the Maxson child-of-destiny propaganda, but the thing he most admired was Maxson's defeat of Shephard. Those mutants were related to the Cutler incident, and so he viewed Maxson as a personal hero for stopping them and saving other people from a similar fate.
♞ Lowkey religious, which isn't so uncommon being from the Capital.
♞ Word vomit. He does his best to keep a lid on things when he's around outsiders, knowing they don't share the Brotherhoods views and aren't worth his time, but once he cracks he will give you a whole lecture on whatever subject it is if he can't reel himself back in. Subordinates are free game for lectures. At least he's can be very good at explaining things, so long as you understand larger words.
♞ After BB and before the defeat of the Institute he would have nightmares about uncontrollably killing the people around him, where he was stuck in his body and forced to watch while he had no ability to stop himself. That or being taken back to the Institute and reset into a slave or made into a courser. Before BB he didn't think his sleep schedule could get worse, but there you go.
♞ While, with time, Danse can unlearn some of the hatred and bigotry the Brotherhood instilled in him, he will never feel anything but hatred and mistrust for super mutants. He puts up with Strong's existance for the Sole Survivors sake, but that's all, and he wouldn't hesitate or at all regret killing him if it was deemed necessary.
♞ He's still a little awkward around other synths, when he knows what they are. But he gets that they, like him, have no choice in what they are, and without the Institute around he doesn't fear them (or him) going haywire.
♞ With ghouls, he still finds their physiology extremely offputting, to say the least, and is always a little bit paranoid about them going feral, but he learns to keep his mouth shut and appreciate them as individuals and the work they do. He gains quite a respect for ghouls at The Slog, the same as any other hard working settlers. Still calls Hancock an abomination, but it's said as a joke and Hancock is for it. They gain a weird friendship.
♞ If the roles had been reversed in Blind Betrayal he would have killed the Sole Survivor. He knows it, and because he told them about Cutler, and his only half-joking comments about putting them down if they turn feral from radiation, he knows they know it. He wouldn't have shown them the same mercy they did to him, and would have seen killing them as a kindness. This knowledge is just another thing he has to reckon with post BB.
♞ Didn't think about family during his time in the Brotherhood. They were his family, and he was a dedicated soldier. Honestly he assumed he'd die in combat before he would have the chance to find someone he'd want that with. But post BB, without the BoS to dedicate himself to anymore and an uncertain future on the horizon, it comes to mind. He wonders if it's even possible now, being what he is, and the thought that it might not be able, or that a 'machine' shouldn't have children, upsets him. Whether capable or not he eventually comes to terms with this possiblity, and tries to find joy in other aspects of his life still.
♞ After BB and staying in Sanctuary he's out of armour a lot more. It's super uncomfortable for him since he's been using his power armour as a literal shield from the world for years, but even putting on the flight suit is just unnecessary now unless Sole is taking him with them. However, on top of the whole 'vulnerable without my shell' feeling, he also just has trouble in general getting used to wearing normal clothes. They feel weird to him now, and they aren't protective enough. Especially around his arms and neck. He can wear a jacket for the arms, but what to do about the neck? How can he make it feel better/like it used to with the flight suit? He ponders it for a while and almost shits a brick when he realises that what he wants is a collar. Brb he's gonna go bury himself now.
♞ Joins up with the Minutemen a few months are BB. After everything with the Institute is dealt with he spends most of his time at The Castle teaching the other Minutemen and new recruits how to be better soldiers. Also teaches anyone willing to learn about power armour and other tech. (Haylen is there too, yay, best buds forevers)
NSFW
♞ Mans awkward as hell but he fucks, alright. He's not getting around a lot, but it happens. All those soldiers gotta blow off steam somehow and this mans is horny on main ("I like when you're this close" sir we are in combat). He's slept with a few of his fellow soldiers and scribes in his day. He's always sure that they are the same rank as him and aren't ones he's likely to be teamed up with though.
♞ Bisexual with a preference for men. Hasn't actually had sex with a woman. Not for avoiding it, it just hasn't happened between his preference and men outnumbering women in the Brotherhood. The closest he got was a BJ.
♞ His liking for adrenaline comes into things in the bedroom: he's most ready to get down after a particularly exciting fight or sparring session, so having a playful wrestle with him can be a good way to get him in the mood.
♞ Has a lot of stamina, which can work against him sometimes. Likes overstimulation and edge play. Has sensitive nipples. Snuggles afterwards, and he's going to be very warm. Hope you like sweat.
♞ Very concerned with the comfort of his partner, will be constantly checking in and asking before doing something to the point it can almost be bothersome. Makes him really good with first timers though. Becomes better with frequency as he learns what is generally okay with his partner and gets into a rhythm of doing that.
♞ Want him to be more dominant? He can only do soft dom or drill sargeant. And he'll only do that second one after a long conversation making extra sure you're okay with it and setting boundaries. He'll probably want to stop before his partner does.
♞ Doesn't like roleplay. He has no idea how he's meant to act so it just throws him off completely. If you want to put on a bit of an act for him he'll let it be, but nothing crazy or too different or you'll throw him off, and don't expect him to be anyone but himself.

                                𝐆𝐎𝐈𝐍’ 𝐑𝐎𝐆𝐔𝐄 !
formerly ONLYROGUE — an rp blog for ROGUE OF MARVEL COMICS. Pulling from 616 PRIMARILY but with verses for xmcu, evo, mcu etc and pulling inspo from some of them. PLEASE READ HER BIO FOR DETAILED INFO ABOUT HER DIVERGENCIES.
PLEASE NOTE ! I have not been following the comics at all since at least 2020 or so due to increasing displeasure with how characters like Rogue are written. I do not agree with rog.ue/re.my being married now and I do not like how they're being written as characters now that they're together. I will not rp it or acknowledge it at all in it's canon form. I ignore or edit a lot of events from the last 20ish years of comics at least with her and I don't budge on that.
Rogue is NOT a southern belle bombshell she's a girl from the wrong side of the river. If you look back and how she was originally built in the 80s and nearly any time Clairemont gets a hold of her again she is nothing like you see in more modern comics and TAS — she's actually much closer to her evo interpretation and I stick to that. Rogue is punk and alt and "low class" and coarse and rough on every edge. A venn diagram of her hobbies and Logan's would be almost a circle. Rogue gave up on trying to act like a lady when she was 19 and she ain't making that cringe ass mistake ever again.

Characterization Notes:
Rogue and the X-Men
Rogue has a weird relationship with the X-Men. She goes to them begging for help at 17 and is met with hostility and an ultimatum. She goes from being a child soldier for her mothers to a child soldier for Xavier. Even when the initial hostility dies down, Rogue's relationships are very fraught and she's generally kept at a certain distance intentionally or no. We see on several occasions in comics set during this time and when anyone cares to remember how her powers work and effect her life Storm (and others but I remember Storm the best because it was a plot point) recoil from Rogue and generally be scared of being too physically close to her.
Rogue's powers both make her a mutant and are exactly the kind of thing that make mutants want to keep her at an arm's length. She painfully steals your mutation and some of your identity, it's natural for people to not want to get too close. But it does create issues. She may be considered a valued member etc etc but how she's tried socially inside of mutant circles is inconsistent. Some see her power as inherently evil, some are just scared of being touched and it shows. Even when people do their best to include her she can tell when people are scared and trying to act like they're not and it incentivizes her to stay on the fringes. So while she has a few people in the X-Men she's close to and loves dearly she's largely an outsider from them socially.
Rogue's Politics and Ethics
Following on that last part another reason Rogue is on the fringes of x-society is her politics. While she's unlearned some of the radicalism she was raised on she's still more on the end of people like Mystique and Magneto because no matter what you say about them, their methods etc — they have some very good points. Rogue's own life experiences in places like Genosha and her work as both a member of the Brotherhood and an X-Man have led her to holding some of Xavier's optimism and desire to solve things peacefully when able while also being more than willing to kill if needed. She's usually not as radical as her mother or Magneto but she's also one of the first to suggest something radical or Kinda Iffy as a plan of action.
Along with this Rogue's ethics are inconsistent. She contradicts herself and seems to function almost entirely on vibes from the outside and she knows this. This is in large part a bi-product of her powers. Her powers leave her with huge amounts of accumulated psychic residue from everyone she touches and there's very little indication anyone actually helps her with this in the comics (Xavier even calls himself out on this in the comics lol rip). This means that even while she's working very hard to simply Be Rogue™, her thoughts, feeling, opinions and memories can be affected by that residue without her being aware. So her opinions and ethics can change within a breath. She is aware of this. It's part of why she HATES when people try to use her as a tie-breaker.
Rogue is Mentally Ill
Related to the ethics thing and how psychic residue effects it. Rogue is not stable mentally, even when she's the only person in her head she's not really 100%. While there's literally nothing in real life that maps out to her issues the closest would likely be the very board category of delusion and psychosis related illnesses. Rogue can wake up utterly convinced she is a completely different person and then have a meltdown when she sees her own face in the mirror. Her understanding of the world can be extremely confused and disjointed. For all her propensity to loner behavior and isolation she's realistically someone who actually does need something like a caretaker or Designated Person™ to help her keep track of things and work with her when she struggles.
Rogue has a tendency to Go Rogue
In a lot of ways Rogue is actually very reliable and dependable. If you're on the job with her she will not make any totally bonkers harebrained decisions. Even if she goes off script it's likely for a good reason and is thought thru in her own weird ass way. She's also prone to bugging out when emotionally/mentally distraught or feeling socially unwanted/pressured etc. Her two biggest reactions are "beat the shit out of em" or "runaway and never ever come back". Both of these cause huge problems for everyone. She's been doing this since she was 6 and she's not changing now. She can also just get an idea in her head and fuck off on her own to investigate. Like you cannot guarantee Rogue'll be to the meeting on time but you can be sure she's On Her Bullshit in one way or another.

I don't care for Jaune's character. Would you care to elaborate on why he deserves a second look? Genuinely curious, mun seems to like him very much.
*cracks knuckles*
alright, firstly, you are not obligated to suddenly love him just because i do. all these points and facts and junk i want to bring up don’t need to sway anyone. it’s ok if you still don’t care for him after we’re done.
THIS IS ALSO NOT AN INVITATION TO REBLOG THIS SHIT AND ARGUE WITH ME. you will most likely be blocked lmfao ain’t nobody got time for that.
THAT BEING SAID, you asked so let’s start this shit off hot.
people love to point out jaune’s blaring flaws whenever given the chance. its normal, start with the shit wrong with the person you don’t like. i get it. the most common flaws being his inability to take ‘no’ for an answer from weiss during the first few volumes, and his macho-man bravado that almost cost him his team and respect. while i understand these hit home for a lot of people, and people can relate how uncomfortable a pursuer like that can be, i also want to point out they are still teenagers. jaune is, i believe, 17 during volume one (correct me if i’m wrong but i can’t be far off.) as far as we know, beacon is his first big venture out into the world on his own. he’s probably learned how to interact with others outside of his family from tv, movies, and popular media. how does popular media usually portray the guys in things?
the hero. the suave, muscled, sweetheart who gets the girl with a smile and a strum of his guitar. the guy who saves everyone. he’s also probably used to the women in his life saying exactly what they mean to him. weiss sort of just said ‘no’ a lot and ignored him.
i’m not saying he didn’t make mistakes, of course not. weiss wasn’t obligated to spell out what he was doing was wrong. what i’m saying is everyone in the entire series has made mistakes based on what their upbringing is like, based on what they already know, and what they’ve yet to learn. weiss was literally racist at one point. she had to/is still unlearn(ing) an entire lifetime of bigoted ideals.
jaune wants so badly to be considered strong, to make his family proud, to be the hero, that he is unaware of the people he hurts in the process to get there. this inability to see past his own nose is incredibly human, in my opinion, and a trait that takes time and patience to grow out of. we see him do so in small steps, but they are indeed there; when he defends weiss to neptune, when he pretty much backs away to let her chose, when he apologies to pyrrha, when he stands up to cardin, when he steps up to the ‘leader seat’ after his chat with ruby. the steps become larger after pyrrha’s death. he realizes there can be more going on than he initially sees when he learns about pyrrha’s ‘choice’, and he becomes more aware of other’s feelings, which is made obvious when he reaches out to ruby to comfort her, and make sure she knows they were here with her by choice. i truly don’t think volume one jaune would have been able to catch on just how much ruby was internalizing.
basically, he flubs up, but doesn’t mind admitting that he did so in the first place.
                          MOVING ON.
i may get flak for this but a lot of people say they hate jaune because he’s a ‘screen hog’ and a ‘self insert’ thanks to his va being a head writer. while a lot of people don’t want to admit it, team jnpr was considered to be a large, integral part of the rwby story as a whole, even at the beginning. monty didn’t add in anything that wasn’t necessary, it’s just how he worked. i believe jnpr was just as much a part of the main cast as team rwby. i love rwby for the strong female cast but to immediately demonized any male that gets more than two minutes of screen time in their stead is just. idk man it’s shitty. rwby is planned to be over seven seasons long. just because one season had jaune talking for a whole extra two minutes more than blake in its entirety doesn’t mean the show should be renamed jnpr. like, i mean, ren had a giant chunk of story line near the end of volume four, it almost felt like filler to me compared to the overall story (cinder, salem, the relics, maidens, etc) and no one really was up in arms about it? whether its because ren is more liked or that ren was, in essence, monty’s character, i’m not sure. it just feels a bit centered around jaune when it comes to ‘males are killing rwby.’
ntm the screen time he does get ends up him being comedic relief, usually. (at least before pyrrha died and gave him crippling anxiety lmfao.) people love to shit on jaune but the show literally does it for you. he’s seen constantly being thrown around, screaming at the top of his lungs, saying dumb things (we hit it. HARDER!), being laughed at, and just generally being the ‘lovable goofball’ who needs a pat on the head and some warm milk before being sent to bed. i personally like those kinds of characters, they have the largest room for growth, but a lot of people don’t, and that’s totally ok! but he serves a purpose.
regarding the parts he’s in vol 4 being sad and junk, i made a whole post on why jaune deserves to mourn pyrrha just as much as anyone else, so i won’t repeat it. but here’s the post if you’re curious.
people also dislike him for being a tutorial character, but what we hate to admit is that every good show needs one. again, he serves an important purpose. there’s the guy who has no idea what anything is about and needs to be explained about the world around them; jaune was that for us, the audience, so we could be informed about the lore and world we were being presented. you don’t have to like characters like that, it’s fine, but don’t forget they are there for a reason. literally every good show based in an alternate world/reality has one.
overall….honestly, i find jaune’s growth to be incredibly relatable. here’s this guy who had this idea in his head on who he wanted to be, what he wanted to do, and how he was supposed to do it. while he had good intentions, he was inherently selfish when the series started. i won’t deny that one bit. most people are. we want what we want and we’re sad when it seems like, no matter how hard we try, we won’t get it. he had his moments where even i cringe (why you had to talk to pyrrha like that tho??) but he turns around and tries to make up for it in the end. he learns a lesson, and makes amends. he reminds me a lot of rock lee, this character from naruto whom i have loved since i was a kid: in a show about super powered ninja’s who use chakra to make magic stuff happen, he’s the only normal one. he can’t do anything but fight with his own two hands. but he tries so hard and never gives up and he manages to become on of the strongest characters in the series?
jaune is that for me. he is very human. and humans are inherently flawed creatures. he is inexperienced. he is self-conscious. he is ignorant to certain virtues, and values others too much. he is scared.
but that’s what draws me to him, and characters like him.
tl;dr he’s not perfect but characters that are are boring af
