JUNE 2019 DIMENSIONS ENTERTAINMENT SCHEDULES & REVIEW
Members may earn 3 points each (up to 6 points) for writing, by the end of June 30 KST:
A solo para of 400+ words based on their monthly schedule (does not count toward your monthly total).
A thread of six posts (three per participant, including the starter) based on their monthly schedule.
Threads do not have to take place directly during an important date listed on the schedule, but must be related to what the muse is mentioned to be doing in the paragraph explaining their schedule/the company’s schedule for the month and/or their thoughts on the mentioned activities or lack thereof.
These schedules may be updated throughout the month if new information needs to be added.
Overall Company
The company summer package DVD and photobook releases this month, so each artist will film a short video encouraging fans to buy the product at some point in the month. Following the Hawaii retreat, there’s talk around the company about their CEO’s absence, though he hasn’t been seen around the headquarters of the company often lately anyway.
Important dates:
June 1-6: Hawaii retreat.
Dimensions Soloist 1
She begins her North American tour at the end of the month, though Dimensions doesn’t currently plan on a big push in the market like they do for Unity and Alien, so she isn’t really doing much press while she’s there. Nevertheless, she has a devoted niche fan base in the states to warmly welcome her for her concerts.
June 26: Warning Tour concert at Regency Ballroom in San Francisco, CA, USA.
June 27: Warning Tour concert at The Fonda Theatre in Los Angeles, CA, USA.
June 30: Warning Tour concert at Showbox SoDo in Seattle, WA, USA.
Dimensions Soloist 2
He continues his music show promotions for his latest album after returning for the retreat and does his rounds of fan signs, including three outside of Seoul. Dimensions is paying extra attention to physical sales and buzz in online communities this comeback to gauge what venue to book for his first solo concert.
Important dates:
June 15: Fansign in Yongsan, Seoul.
June 19: Fansign in Gangnam, Seoul.
June 23: Fansign in Busan.
June 24: Fansign in Gwangju.
June 26: Fansign in Daegu.
June 27: End of music show promotions.
Gal.actic
Upper management has been giving their all to book Gal.actic CFs to get more positive associations with their names after their last comeback debacle. It hasn’t been easy since a search of Gal.actic’s name still brings up more news of the injunction than anything else, but they’ve managed to land a CF deal with a mobile RPG Immortal Warrior conveniently catering to a male audience by giving each member a scene of their own asking, “Oppa, what do you want to do?”. Word is that they’ll also begin filming a reality show following their comeback, so the girls are asked to prepare a pitch for a reality show concept to present to their management that will be filmed and included in the reality show. The actual concept has already been decided, so the filming is entirely for the entertainment value.
Important dates:
June 20: Immortal Warrior CF filming.
June 29: Reality show concept pitch filming.
Alien
Alien have booked another brand deal, this time with sportswear brand Kappa Korea, which they’re scheduled to film CFs for the brand after returning from a performance in Norway. Each member will get their own highlighted CF, and the group will also shoot a photo shoot for one of the brand’s F/W collections later in the month. This is all in between studio recordings for their next comeback and continued English lessons for their American activities while Dimensions shops around for an American label to sign a contract with, signalling that expansion into the Western market remains in the plans for Alien.
Important dates:
June 11: Performance at Voyage to K-Pop concert in Oslo, Norway.
June 15: Kappa summer CF filming.
June 27: Kappa F/W photo shoot.
MARS
Their Youtube cover project is put on pause this month so that they can focus completely on their comeback and build anticipation from anyone who’s been checking out their covers. They film the single MV mid-month, and then film a CF for California Beach, a water park in Gwangju, later in the month. It’s their first CF in a while since their frequently darker and theatrical image doesn’t make them the most in-demand group on the CF market.
Important dates:
June 14: Callin’ M/V filming.
June 20: California Beach CF filming.
7ROPHY
The track list and concepts for their next comeback are finished, so they’ll be in the studio recording this entire month. They’ve also booked a photo shoot with 1st Look magazine thanks to their recent increase in popularity, though the members don’t have much experience with magazine photoshoots despite their four years in the business. At the end of the month, they’re being named City Ambassadors for Seoul Metropolitan City, which will come with promotional duties for the city, and will attend an ambassador inauguration ceremony at the end of the month. It seems like Dimensions finally cares about them enough again to seek out publicity opportunities, but the 7ROPHY members should know better than anyone how fleeting management’s favor can be.
Important dates:
June 9: Performance at Asia Model Festival (also attending: Aria).
June 11: Photoshoot for July issue of 1st Look magazine.
June 15: 2019 K-Pop Artist Festival in Seoul.
June 27: Seoul Metropolitan City Ambassador ceremony at Sewoon Hall in Seoul, South Korea (also attending: BEE).
Unity
The members get another short break in Seoul, which will involve a lot of recording for their comeback album, including learning the title track choreography, they’ll take off to return to the states and start their North American tour, which they’ll finish off next month. In addition to Good Morning America and Strahan and Sara appearances, where they’ll do their first performance of their yet to be released comeback track, the members will be doing a lot of miscellaneous radio and online promotion targeted at the American audience with the help of the marketing department of the American label Dimensions has signed a distribution deal with.
Important dates:
June 9: K-Pop World Music Festival at Mall of Asia Arena in Manila, Philippines (also performing: Fuse).
June 19: Unity 1st North America Tour concert at Prudential Center in Newark, NJ, USA.
June 20: Appearance on Good Morning America, Appearance on Strahan and Sara.
June 21: Unity 1st North America Tour concert at Coca-Cola Roxy in Atlanta, GA, USA.
June 23: Unity 1st North America Tour concert at Watsco Center in Miami, FL, USA.
June 26: Unity 1st North America Tour concert at The Theatre at Grand Prairie in Dallas, TX, USA.
June 28: Unity 1st North America Tour concert at Comerica Center in Phoenix, AZ, USA.
June 30: Unity 1st North America Tour concert at Smart Financial Center in Houston, TX, USA.
Lucid
They’re not in the country when their comeback drops, but as soon as they’re back on Korean soil, a successful round of promotions is the number one priority, and that’s exactly what they’ll achieve. Their song will tie 7ROPHY’s latest comeback as the highest peaking digital performance of any of Dimensions’ girl group songs in recent memory. They can’t quite match 7ROPHY’s recent physical performance even after fan signs all around Korea due to losing some of their fan base with the concept change, but management remains hopeful due to increased popularity in online male communities. This comeback cements Lucid as a rising group to talk about and will bring in more new fans than any of their previous releases. As is common for rising rookies, they’re also scheduled to film a somewhat awkwardly cute video, “Tap Water Song”, celebrating the merits of tap water for an SBS campaign. It’ll be good for Dimensions’ connections, if nothing else.
Important dates:
June 6: Release of “Me Gustas Tu” & pre-recorded Flower Bud mini album showcase, promotions continue until July 6.
June 8: Guesting on KBS Cool FM Kiss The Radio.
June 14: SBS Tap Water Song Campaign filming.
June 15: Fansign in Busan, South Korea.
June 18: Guesting on SBS Power FM Youngstreet.
June 20: Fansign in Daejeon, South Korea.
June 21: Guesting on KBS Cool FM Gayo Plaza.
June 22: Fansign in Gangnam, Seoul.
June 25: Guesting on KBS Cool FM Kiss The Radio.
June 27: Guesting on SBS Power FM Old School.
June 29: Fansign in Yongsan, Seoul.
June 30: Fansign in Daegu, South Korea.

「  RYUJIN’s  RELATIONSHIPS  」
[ sorry if this pops up while you’re searching through tumblr for your bias ]
Tumblr media
→   JO YU RI
met through training under stone music and became friends at first sight
became closer through their participation to pd48 and all the hardships that it brought - yuri is the only one who could convince hyojin to admit she’d hurt her knee and couldn’t continue the competition
short idiots being too loud together. why do people leave those two alone ever.
living the mukbang life whenever they hand out together; there’s always food involved when they see each other
“YAH! CALL ME UNNIE!” whenever yuri calls her ‘hyojin-ie’
hyojin singing la vie en rose off-key on purpose and yuri joining in and making it a competition to see who can sing the loudest
yuri jokingly introducing hyojin as izone’s thirteenth member on vlive
embarrassing unnie!hyojin kissing yuri 24/7
#cuddle_machines
they can be eating pizza or doing a song cover together on vlive, hyojin will 100% grab yuri’s face and kiss her cheek at one point
Tumblr media
→   KIM SEOL HYUN
big floofy dog moms club 95 liners club
they go full uwu at each other whenever they hang out and they just can’t help it apparently??
hyojin never hid the fact she’s a huge aoa fan and said several times that seolhyun has always been her bias
they recently met at a festival where they were performing. hyojin had the courage to ask seolhyun’s phone number (she still isn’t sure how she managed) and they’ve been texting regularly ever since
they mostly meet up so that their dogs can play together; they’re just fine texting and doing video calls - they’re still a little awkward with each other
“seolhyun sunbaenim”
“hyojin-ssi”
take the best selcas together. but blush whenever there’s skinship involved.
Tumblr media
→   LEE TAE YONG
dumbasses club 95 liners clubs
how did they even meet??? nobody knows but the world is a more dangerous place because of it
cringey aegyo for days
post the most random videos ever on hyojin’s instagram account just because they can and don’t know what self-control is
the rumor that they’re dating seems to refuse to die down even if they’ve said numerous times that they’re only friends and their companies also confirmed that they were in fact not dating and have never been
they can usually be spotted dancing
taeyong likes to teach hyojin moves that don’t put too much strain on her bad knee so that they can keep dancing together and have fun like that
they have compliment battles instead of diss battles - they make it work, don’t ask how
Tumblr media
→   HEIZE
the most precious former label mates
they worked on a song together before hyojin’s official debut under kay entertainment and they produced their own little mv for the collab together
both the song and mv became controversial because of the not so hidden gay undertones that they incorporated to their work
uwu level? IT’S OVER 9000
they like to hold hands and kiss each other’s cheeks all the time. very comfortable with skinship in general and aren’t scared to show it on instagam
hyojin and dahye want to work on a full album together, and have mentioned wanting to involve other female rappers and solo artists in the project as well - they implied that they’ve worked on ballad songs together
hyojin keeps buying her olaf plushies and merch like it’s her job???
heijin shippers are a thing for a good reason. those two love and respect each other so much, their friendship is the purest thing ever
Tumblr media
→   PARK GYEONG REE
knew each other before hyojin’s debut. met at star empire before hyojin left the company for stone music ent
were never really close until hyojin’s solo debut
went from 0 to 100 real fast
they’re always commenting on each other’s posts, retweeting from each other. there’s compliments in there, but more often than not, they’re just teasing for the fun of it
drinking buddies who drink way too much beer. way too loud, 1/2 chance they’re screeching like pterodactyls for some reason
big floofy dog moms club together w/ seolhyun because they can.
fans think their skinship is looks forced because they tend to get shy and very flustered when they’re together
soft kisses and hand holding 24/7
aren’t 100% sure what their own relationship really is, but they love being together and it’s all that really matters to them for the moment
buy each other lots of things; flowers, lunch, matching phone cases, clothes, perfumes, candy, chocolates, jewelry, etc, ...
“UNNIE!!!” gyeongree is one of the few people hyojin calls unnie, she’s always calling her unnie and not sunbae/nim,

Etienne’s Top Fives of 2017 - Kpop Edition:  Girl Groups
This year was a hard one for girl groups for me at least, but I feel like there’s been a gap in stuff happening and a lot of groups disbanding or falling apart.  Some of my favorite groups disbanded.  Some of them have just not done anything, and I worry that they might just slip off into obscurity.  Between my last year’s Girl Rookies and Girl Groups lists, I cover a good chunk of this list, but I also find myself missing a lot of the people who didn’t make it back for consideration because there was nothing to consider them for to put on the list.
Here’s to a better 2018 for girl groups and strong continuations from the rookies that have impressed me and the girl groups that are still out there giving it their all!
I only have two shoutouts for girl groups that nearly made this list, and that makes me just a little bit sad:
Mamamoo with “Yes I Am”
Momoland with “Wonderful Love” and “Freeze”
Considering how low a year for girl groups this has been for me, I would love some group suggestions that you think that I might like based on which groups I do like.
To find out Etienne’s Top Five Kpop Girl Groups of 2017, look under the cut!
5. Lovelyz
youtube
Lovelyz had a strong year this year, with three songs with MVs that I really liked.  “Now, We”/”지금, 우리” above was my favorite of the three, but all of them were good.  They also released “Wow” at the start of the year which is fun and upbeat, and “Twinkle” more recently which has some really fun vocal runs.
It’s good to hear this group showing off their wonderful vocals and developing as a group.  I’ve liked them since debut, and this is their first year fully making it onto my list (they were an honorable mention last year).  I really appreciate their consistency, and I hope that they keep on producing fun, consistently good releases.
4. Laboum
youtube
Laboum’s main release this year, with the MV for “Hwi Hwi” above, impressed me a lot!  They’ve been one of those groups that has been just barely off these lists for me basically since debut, and I really think that they’ve stepped into a style that works for them with this very summer dance sound song (that reminds me of an earlier Sistar with Laboum’s own excellent style and flavor).
I’m really excited to see what they do next, and some of them being on The Unit has given me another better look at how excellent of vocalists several of the members are.  I just hope that their participation in The Unit only has positive effects for them as a group and we keep getting excellent songs like this from them!
3. Sistar
youtube
Sistar has been a perennial feature on these lists since I started making them, with their consistently excellent vocals and fun summer releases.  It’s a sad thing to know that “Lonely” is the last of their releases that I’ll be able to include on one of these lists because they have disbanded.  They left us as a group on a really strong note with the same consistency and amazing quality that have been a feature of this wonderful group.
I’m sad to be losing Sistar as a group, but I’m excited to see where the members’ careers lead them next.  It seems like for them it was time to move on to their next endeavors, and I would never dream of wanting to hold them back from those goals.  These four ladies are going to do amazingly at whatever they do next, so hopefully it won’t be too long before some of them them are popping up on my Solo Artist lists.
2. Gugudan
youtube
Gugudan is jumping straight from second on my rookies group list last year to second on my girl groups list this year.  I love the vocal power of the group as a whole and both of their releases this year have been solid.  Of their title tracks, “Chococo” (above) was probably my favorite, but I liked the other tracks on the two albums about the same (in that I liked them A LOT).  That being said, I really liked “A Girl Like Me” as well.
Gugudan just keep getting better and better, and like any big group, I keep finding things that I like about members who hadn’t previously stood out to me.  There are so many good voices in the group, and their combined sound and harmonies are part of what really sells the power of the group.  They do really well with dances as well, and they’re starting to form an overarching image for themselves that I really like.
1. Cosmic Girls
youtube
Cosmic Girls (WJSN) started out the year really strong with “I Wish" and it’s beautiful vocals, and they maintained that through summer with “Happy” which lives up to its name and “Kiss Me” which continues their fun catchy summer song vibe.
Along with Gugudan, Cosmic Girls jumped straight from my rookies list last year, maintaining their spot from that list on the Girl Groups list.  I’m really proud with how well their developing.  They’ve had a definite style since the very start, and it just keeps getting stronger.  I love their vocals (especially Dawon’s, but all of their vocalists are on point), and their overall song balance is great.
