That night Hera Shepard stood outside the apartment complex for a long time, lost in thoughts. It was the last house in the neighborhood. In it’s shadow Hera felt so small and the world was so large, but on the other hand it was also beckoning to her. Should she just run away, following the mystery map? Would she be up to that kind of life? What if this was a test laid out for her by the gods and delaying it until she was of age would be held against her?
It wasn’t quite fair of fate to throw such a bait her way when she was restless from being fourteen anyway, Hera concluded!
And with that we’ll leave Veronaville and the Shepards for the time being. My heart isn’t in this family at the moment.

Hera grew up to teen and chose the Pleasure aspiration. After everyone was in bed, her father took her aside and pulled out an extra present.
Hera: “Another one? Oh, tell me, is it something inappropriate that helps with boys, perhaps?”
Byron: “When you were very little, there came a wolf to our house and dug right next to where we had placed you out of the sun. Dirt flew all over your face, but other than that the beast did not harm you. Instead, when I looked into the hole after driving the wolf away, I found this map on durable parchment. It always was yours, so, here, take it!”

To Aides it felt like an eternity before baby Ophis finally was out of the crib, but now he has a friend his own age.
I think of them as “the twins”, despite them having different eyecolors, different personalities and I think Ophis’ face is somewhat broader and rougher.

The king gave the banished Capp a little leeway and allows them in town when invited by law-abiding citizens or as part of an outing.
With Demeter Hal Capp now discovers places in town that he’s never been to when he was still a noble. Through her eyes he views everyday technology as something wondrous. For a while the joy of discovery is enough to make Hal forget his dreams of power, but will that last?
Anyway, first date & first kiss for Demeter :-)

On the upside, there was no political baggage anymore on Hal’s and Demeter’s relationship. In the eyes of the public they were just two young commoners dating. And if her plans to become a teacher should avail to nothing, Demeter could always court Hal for real and become a sheepherd again at his side.
With the power struggle resolved, it’s back to breeding the Shepard family next.

Goneril, Hal, Regan and Cornwall Capp in their exile in the countryside:
It’s public school (20 km from the farm), paying taxes and toiling the soil for the erstwhile nobles now. Oh, and that’s Cyd’s Porthos in the foreground, so it stands to reason that the banished are under surveillance, too.
Still, it’s better than getting their heads chopped off for their insurrection.
And I have a living off the land family again. ‘hoods just aren’t as much fun without at least one of those.

Albany: “So, do you like this peasant girl?”
Hal: “Maybe.”
Albany: “Yes or no!”
Hal: “I don’t know, father, but I’d like to find out.”
Albany: “Fair enough. If you fall in love with her, enjoy your time together while it lasts. But if you realize that no sparks whatsoever will erupt, then go seperate ways the same instant! Don’t use the girl as a pawn in any of your schemes!”
Hal: “But, father...!”
Albany: “No buts, son. Young people like you and Mercutio, you do not see how wrong all that scheming and feuding is. This country desperately needs a king! If you cannot be persuaded to stopp, then at least he can force you to!”

It’s so sad that toddlers cannot eat their own birthday cakes :-(

Sorry, Aides, we need to age you up a day early. Your crib is needed for newborn Hermes. No space to squeeze in another crib, but there’s a currently unused toddler bed waiting.
(Yes, that’s correct that Sally starts the transition, but Byron finishes it. Sally dropped the action when Aides defecated from the exitement, so Byron had to re-initate it. On the upside: one extra cake for the kids).

Gaia grew up to child and got the hand-me-down dress that Demeter and Eryn wore before her. Eryn instead got a brand new outfit in her favourite color that put a 400 thalers dent into the family funds. And who cares about their new clothes not being quite appropriate for the season yet? Not little girls!

Sometime during the visit Demeter cornered Hal in the bathroom and made her move on the boy. And he was like “Ey, why not?”.
