THIS! THIS IS WHAT I WANT IN A THRILLER!! My pal @crazyforbooksandcoffee picked this book for me to read & what an excellent pick it was! A new favorite for sure. WOW! SYNOPSIS: In a series of online posts, Parker H., a young psychiatrist, chronicles the harrowing account of his time working at a dreary mental hospital in New England. Through this internet message board, Parker hopes to communicate with the world his effort to cure one bewildering patient. We learn, as Parker did on his first day at the hospital, of the facility’s most difficult, profoundly dangerous case—a forty-year-old man who was originally admitted to the hospital at age six. This patient has no known diagnosis. His symptoms seem to evolve over time. Every person who has attempted to treat him has been driven to madness or suicide. Desperate and fearful, the hospital’s directors keep him strictly confined and allow minimal contact with staff for their own safety, convinced that releasing him would unleash catastrophe upon the outside world. Parker, brilliant and overconfident, takes it upon himself to discover what ails this patient and finally cure him. But from his first encounter with the mysterious patient, things spiral out of control and, facing a possibility beyond his wildest imaginings, Parker is forced to question everything he thought he knew. #Thriller #Horror #Supernatural #Reading #AmReading #ThePatient #JasperDewitt #Bookworm #Booktuber https://www.instagram.com/p/CoItS9tLof2/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Came across this cause I was needing something hooking to watch, I wasn't sure what to expect. At first it's a little disorienting because we're just Doctor Alan (Steve Carell) try to understand what's going on. But we start to discover his loneliness and fear, within the forced isolation his held in as his patient; Sam,holds Doctor Alan chained in a downstairs bedroom of Sam's mothers house. There's ten episodes and each runs for roughly 30mins, long enough to keep you hooked while begging to keep your attention for longer. One of the things I love about 30min formats is that it doesn't force itself to keep your attention, one of the things I hate about 30min formats that by the time you get comfortable it's okay. The Patient pretty much follows Alan's point of view, he learns through his patient's dark ideas and hidden fears through heavy dialogue and tries to understand both himself and his patient as they play a balancing act. It's also interesting to not, Domhall Gleeson is pushing 40 but in this he has the looks of a twenty year old. So seeing him as play someone who used to have his life together is a bit jarring at times. This story doesn't try to get you to empathise with the characters but rather understand why things happen or how people react in situations that their forced into. It could've been a movie rather then a limited series but overall, it is quite interesting to watch. Not as dark and gritty as I assumed it would be, even with its few deaths and Auschwitz scenes in between. I feel like it's comfort in faith, understanding of relationships and beginning of ends to some. Ep 10 is a bit interesting especially with its ending. It's not the greatest but it's not the worst. It's almost like a full circle of it's revelations throughout the story. #thepatient #stevecarell #domhallgleeson @disneyplus #disneyplus https://www.instagram.com/p/CnbXifvvfsM/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

🥡 The Patient 🕎 When I heard of The Patient: a psychotherapist (Steve Carell) is kidnapped and trapped in the basement of one of his patients, who reveals himself as a serial killer and needs help – I saved this show by PATIENTLY waiting for all the episodes to be released so I could watch them in one go, and I am seriously glad I did. Every episode ends in a crazy cliffhanger, and had I been watching this on a weekly basis, I’m pretty sure I would not have been PATIENT enough (I’ll stop with the patient jokes now). Steve Carell is widely known for his comedic roles – but he has portrayed darker, serious characters in movies such as Little Miss Sunshine and Beautiful Boy. I had no doubt that Steve would be able to pull off the complex, complicated role of Dr. Alan Strauss. After finishing The Patient, I can easily say that this has been Carell’s best dramatic performance yet – I expect him to get nominated for the awards. Domhnall Gleeson’s portrayal of Sam the killer was nothing short of extraordinary, either. The acting, performances, writing, and screenplay of The Patient were top-tier. One wonderful aspect of the show is that none of the supporting characters felt like they were added for effect – each character had something important to contribute to the story. The Patient is an emotional miniseries with themes of trauma, family, religion, and forgiveness. This next part may be a spoiler to you, even if I keep it vague. I suggest that if you’re considering watching the show, please don’t read this next bit. The ending broke my heart. Initially, I expected the series to end this way, but I guess I started feeling otherwise throughout the other episodes. While the ending was not conventionally satisfying, it was realistic. There is a moment at the end where the viewer thinks the ending would be "otherwise," but the startling twist in that sequence leading to the actual ending was gut-wrenching and well-displayed. Please give this a show a try and let me know what you think. #thepatient #fx #hulu #stevecarell #domhnallgleeson #fxonhulu #series #thriller #thrillerseries #tv #tvshow #serial #serialkiller #psychologicalthriller @thepatientfx @hulu https://www.instagram.com/p/CnFju01t6kO/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

I don’t know if anyone has watched this because every week everyone only seems to talk about that dragon program, but this has been appointment television for me for the past couple of months. It’s one of the best dramas of the year. I thought it was engaged from start to finish and it was paced brilliantly. Wasn’t sure it would stick the landing, especially since the first half of the finale made it seem like it was taking the most predictable route, but then it threw me for a loop and tossed a couple surprises my way. Loved all the psychology stuff, seemed pretty authentic, I have no idea if it was, but they at least gave the impression that a lot of research went into this. This is, without a doubt, Steve Carell’s best performance to date. Domhnall Gleeson is also fantastic. Amy Handelman is only peppered throughout, but her performance in the finale was incredible and made it unexpectedly emotional, she’s a great cryer! Highly recommend this one if you haven’t already checked it out. 9.5/10. #ThePatient #TVReview https://www.instagram.com/p/CkL37s3LxII/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

The Patient by Cole Baxter @inkubatorbooks @ZooloosBT #ThePatient #bookreview
My Thoughts Cole Baxter is always a must-read author for me now. I love his writing style and his creativity in his books. I read “The Patient” in two hours and all I can say is WOW! It had me guessing the whole way through and I was just hooked. The suspense and intrigue kept me on the edge of my seat, eagerly turning each page to uncover the answers. The writing style was captivating, with…
