Walter Bishop Jr., Bish at the Bank: Live in Baltimore. Pianist Walter Bishop Jr. was one of the all-time finest pianists in jazz, even though he doesn’t have as well-known a reputation as many other players. That might be because Bishop often pursued teaching positions in colleges, or possibly just didn’t want to have a public persona like other…

Throughout the course of last year, I wrote quite a bit about the Los Angeles-based psych rock act The Dream Syndicate. The act, which is currently comprised of founding members Steve Wynn (guitars, vocals), a critically applauded singer/songwriter and solo artist and Dennis Duck (drums), along with the band’s most recent members…

Bolachas Now Playing, a new music Spotify playlist updated every Tuesday. Or Tuesday+1 if there was a long weekend taking us away from our listening stations.
Swedish singer-songwriter Daniel Norgren has quietly been releasing a considerable amount of albums over the past eleven years on his Superpuma Records. "Wooh Dang" - an "intertwining of analog instrumentation, live performance, and rural field recordings" is probably his most accomplished work yet. His brand of rural Swedish blues have never sounded this good, and it took us some deep thinking to pick up two of his songs for this week's playlist.
Plus: new tracks by She Keeps Bees, SEVDALIZA,Cate Le Bon, Pip Blom, Mavis Staples, Molly Tuttle, House and Land, Rose Elinor Dougall, Kevin Morby, Fat White Family, Altın Gün, The Yawpers, Drugdealer, Ari Roar, Doug Tuttle, The Long Ryders, Field Medic, The Tallest Man On Earth,Spencer Tweedy, Chris Staples, Tōth, Valley Maker, and Joe Kaplow.

The Long Ryders - Islington Assembly Hall, 13 April 2019
@thelongryders are back with a cracking new album and a refreshed live set at @Islington_AH with @The HangingStars. Read about it here:
Back in 1984, the British music press seemed desperate for some American great white hopes. The New York scene had hit the mainstream with Blondie, Talking Heads had linked up with Brian Eno and the Ramones……well they were different Ramones but the same Ramones. Post-punk hadn’t quite gripped the USA and there were no signs of the glorious pop being produced by likes of the Associates, ABC and…
