they got married first before they met the apple brothers so all these times, the dynamic nightmare and dream knows is the dynamic they have post-marriage. the fact that only ink can actually excessively touch error? the fact that they disappear at prolonged period of times? the fact that they're kind of civil sometimes? the fact that they're the only ones that can get each other's mindsets? all of it were already established when the twins met the two so aside from bizarre reactions, they never really questioned the already established dynamic.

it also doesn't help that error and ink often forgets that they're married outside their home in zephyrtop, so they don't slip that often or don't get affected much when the other is injured.
