Sora's so wonderful and sweet and I love him bc he always tries to make everyone feel better EVERYONE KNOWS THAT but no one acknowledges how he definitely at least partially does it for himself because his synesthesia.
Like Akira's comment about why Sora "can't see" Gatekeeper was "Rather than [he can't] it's probably closer to [he doesn't want] . Gatekeeper is surrounded by blood and violence which are the colors that Sora probably doesn't want understand"
So like if I were Sora I'd want everyone to be happy n good too because if they aren't I gotta experience the horrors? Someone in my vicinity is fucked up and now I have to see the goddamn Hat Man?? Liiike...
And of course this isn't even mentioning how Sora was a shut-in and had no friends until highschool, obviously that plays a role too.

[1 / 2] You feel butterflies when you see them, especially if they touch you.
Tumblr media
With Prom happening on the weekend before the Valentine’s day event at school, Joohyun needed you more than ever—going as far as having you and some of the other volunteers to sleepover at her house or yours.
The night before prom, you and the others were settled in your living room; playing idle music on someone’s phone and repacking the sweets that have been pre-ordered for Valentine’s day.
“I can’t believe the Jung Jaehyun is just next door.” Miyoung gushes as she counts some pieces of wrapped candies and double checking a list on her clipboard before tossing it into a small pouch.
“Oh my god.” You look up from the filled up pouches, “are you one of his fangirls?”
“No. He’s just so popular that it’s like he’s a celebrity or something.” She shrugs her shoulders, “What’s it like being his best friend?”
You make a face, “Like… having a best friend, but he’s a guy? I don’t know what you want me to say. I’ve literally been friends with him since we were born - well, I was born, he’s a whole month older than me.”
“It’s also really cute that he’s born on Valentine’s day and you were born on White day.” The other girl, Sora, chimes in, “Honestly, you’re really lucky to be his best friend; he’s so sweet and kind. How are you not in love with him?”
You shrug your shoulders and suck in your lips, humming in faux disgust and hoping no one would notice your cheeks heating up but then Joohyun lets out a loud gasp.
“You are!”
“I’m not.” You immediately deny, which you should have thought about because the way your voice hitched made all of them squeal.
“Since when?!” They demanded, all of them stopping their individual duties to question you.
Annoyed, you knew you wouldn’t be able to get them off your back about this so you throw your hands up in defeat. “I don’t know! I don’t… know when it started… It just did.”
“When do you plan to confess?” Miyoung asks, “Oh! Tomorrow at prom? You guys are going together, right? Don’t-” She points at you when you start to correct her, “tell us you’re just going as friends because it’ll be different now that you actually have feelings for him.”
“I’ve never really thought about confessing to him.” You admit, gazing at your hands. “I’m honestly terrified about it. He’s my best friend and… I don’t want to risk our years of friendship over some stupid crush.”
Joohyun moves to sit beside you, “Well, who are we to assume that he doesn’t feel the same way? You know he looks at you differently.”
“He does not.”
“Have you watched any of the fancams of him during your performance during the school fair? Which, by the way, you guys were amazing. I’ve seen the two of you in class and along the halls, but I’ve never seen him look at you the way he did when you were performing. I’m pretty sure the entire school is waiting for you two to get together.”
“That could be anything. Maybe it’s the rush of being in front of literally the entire student body with their phones whipped out and recording him or maybe it’s because he’s looking out for me because I was ready to shit myself the second I make a mistake.” You roll your eyes, pushing yourself off the ground and picking up the box of repacked candies. “And he did that because I told him to. Jaehyun’s always protective of me… we’re like the siblings we never had so…”
As you move the box over to the side with the other box that’s been filled, you let out a sigh. They’ve already made you say it out loud, so you might as well tell everything else you’ve been keeping to yourself. They’re probably way more experienced with these kinds of things than you.
“I just…” You turn to them but avoid looking at their faces, “I thought I could let the feelings pass, you know? But then that stupid date auction happened,” You pause to glare at Joohyun, who stutters and blames Doyoung under her breath, “And now Jaehyun’s been texting the girl who won a date with him even though he said he’s not really interested in dating her. He said it was about helping her little brother out or something.”
“Aw,” Sora giggles, “You’re jealous!”
“Jae-lous.” Miyoung jokes, but when only she laughs at it, she clears her throat. “For some insight, Jangmi, the girl who got a date with Jaehyun, only wagered that much to piss off one of his fangirls.”
“Either way,” You lick your lips, “I really think he’s starting to like her.”
“You’re overthinking this.” Joohyun takes your arm and motions for you to sit down, once you do so, she wraps an arm around you. “Everyone, including you, knows that Jaehyun is the nicest human being alive. Maybe he’s really just helping Jangmi’s brother out. I’ve seen Jaemin at their house. He’s really sweet, but also really shy; he probably can’t bring himself to ask Jaehyun himself so he asked his sister to.”
You stay quiet, picking off non-existent lint off your pants. Even if he didn’t like her that way, you still don’t know if you wanted to confess to him. Are you really willing to risk years of friendship over this silly crush?
-
You’re uncharacteristically nervous for prom. After you dismissed the topic with the girls by making them promise not to tell anyone, you finished up all that you guys can for Valentine’s day, everyone went home and left you to simmer in your thoughts. They heavily suggested to confess; during a slow dance, of course.
Your mom brought you to a salon to have your hair and makeup done; but you still had to return back home to put on your dress and… well, ride with Jaehyun to prom. She helps you tie the soft peach, jersey infinity dress around your torso, wrapping it over your shoulders so your back was exposed as you had wished but still had a modest front. “You look so beautiful, sweetheart.”
“I’m really glad you took a day off to help me get ready.”
She smiles at you, “Of course, I would. Prom is once in a lifetime, dear, I want you to have a fun tonight… Have you talked to Jaehyun about…”
You shake your head, “I don’t know if I even want to. Some of my friends suggested I confess later, but… mom, I’m so scared about confessing. What if he doesn’t feel the same and everything between us changes? I don’t want to risk it.”
Your mom hushes you, placing her hands on your shoulders, “There’s no rush, [Y/N]. You don’t have to confess. And I hate to say this, but now that you’ve come into terms with your feelings for him, I don’t think anything would be the same - on your part, at least.”
“I don’t know what to do.”
She pulls you into a hug and your arms come around her as well. “Sweetheart, there are things in life I can’t always tell you to do. I can only advise you this, choose what makes you happy. Whatever the outcome is if you do confess, love and heartbreak are things we’ll all go through in life. You are Jaehyun’s best friend; he loves and cares for you as much as your dad and I do. If he doesn’t feel the same way, the worst that can come out of this is just a few days of not talking to each other.”
You pull away from her hold, “I bet it would feel like forever.”
“And I’m willing to take a few more days off and whisk you away for a much needed vacation.”
This brings a smile to your face, “Really? You’re the best.”
There was a knock on your door and you felt anxiety seep through your bones. Your mom must have sensed it because she holds your hand and squeezes it. “[Y/N], don’t stress about confessing or anything like that, okay? I want you to have fun tonight - both of you.”
You nod at her, letting her lead you out your room and out to the living room. She lets go of your hand and walks over to the door, opening it wide.
“Whoa.” You and Jaehyun exclaim simultaneously as soon as you recognize each other. The butterflies in your stomach are fluttering at the sight of him; dressed in an ebony suit with the coral bowtie you guys found when you went shopping together, his hair was styled up like what you had done to it when he went on his date, and if you’re not mistaken; his brows are actually cleaned up.
“Where’s [Y/N]?” He asks your mom, laughing lightheartedly with her.
“Oh, shut up! Are we going already?”
“Now, hold on, you two aren’t allowed to go without taking pictures!” His mom appears from behind him, “Let me go get my phone real quick!”
Your mom claps her hands as scurries off to retrieve her phone, “Oh, yes! I have to send a picture to your dad.”
Jaehyun walks up to you and if he hadn’t stopped short, you’re sure he can feel your heart beating out your chest. Even with your heels on, he’s still taller by a few inches. “You look really great, [Y/N].”
“You’re not so bad yourself. The bowtie looks better than I thought.” You bring your hand up to touch the satin accessory. “It’s not the exact color of my dress, but it still works.”
“Yeah.” He swallows, looking down at his shoes.
“Okay! I have my phone!” Your mom says as she returns, instructing both of you to stand by the wall for the photo. While she opens up her camera app, Jaehyun’s mom comes in with her phone in hand.
“This might take a while.” You whisper to him and he chuckles, gently placing a hand on your bareback.
“Won’t you get cold later?”
“Yeah, probably. Good thing that jacket of yours looks warm.” You grin up at him, making him scoff in disbelief but he doesn’t refute. His hand is still on your skin and it’s not doing any good for the butterflies going crazy in your stomach, but then you remember your mom’s words; there’s no need to worry about confessing, tonight is about having fun--
“Smile!”
Jaehyun nudges you closer to him, close enough that you could smell the cologne off his body; a musky vanilla.
--and you really hope you do.
